Shopping with Leona Castelli was like a college. It was educating, time consuming, and expensive, and it was one hell of a ride.

Liviana wasn’t sure what she was expecting when the woman had dragged her out of bed and practically forced her into an outfit that showed much more skin than she was used to, with a skirt that fell just above her knee and a tank top hidden under a leather jacket to match her black skirt and boots, but the last thing she thought was that they were going to spend their entire afternoon in the mall. Not that she was complaining. No. Truthfully, she was having a great time, being dragged from store to store and talked into trying on outfit after outfit until they had their arms filled to the brim with bags of new clothes for each of their closets and plenty of decorative items to make Liviana’s new house feel like home. Which is why, after their fourth trip to Leona’s car, Liviana decided to insist it was time they call it quits.

“So, a bucket list?”“Of sorts.” Liviana says, voice coming out in a mumble as she props herself up against her headboard, arching her back to fit a pillow between. “That’s what they called it, but I’m not actually sure if it is one. It seems kind of... Unconventional, I suppose.”“Why is it unconventional?” Tino asks, a furrowed brow as he watches Liviana’s eyes drift around her room in thought, head tilting back to look at the ceiling.“I’m not sure. It just feels a little strange.” She says, taking a breath as she turns back down to the screen, eyes flitting from her brother’s face and the blank piece of paper in front of her. “I’m lost here. I have no idea what to write. What does one put into a bucket list?”“skydiving. Swimming with dolphins. Meeting their idol.” Tino shrugs. “Something adventurous, fun. A once in a lifetime opportunity.”“I’ve missed out on twenty-four years’ worth of life, Tino. Anything could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.”The deadpan has the Sa

The interaction she had with Blaze that night hadn’t left Liviana’s mind once. In the week that it had been since, the memory had just been floating around in the back of her mind, glowing in the midst of all her dark thoughts. And with this difficult time in her life, that little ray of hope that they were on a better path had lit her road up like the sun itself, ensuring she wouldn’t take another wrong turn. What Liviana failed to acknowledge was that at the end of the day, the sun always went down, letting the moon take its place and cast a different light, one to suit the darkness. And just like the sun, her hope was bound to vanish, though it would be for much longer than just a single night. In the week since that night, it seemed as though Blaze was avoiding her, and she had no idea as to why. Why would he avoid her after such a great night? After their best interaction yet? Didn’t he want to make progress in their relationship? Didn’t he want things to get better? She would th

Liviana’s head was a mess, her thoughts running wild through the jungle of her chaotic mind.As she sat there, on the bed of Leona Castelli, the words of another Castelli rung through her head like the tune of an old song. And to her, it was.It wouldn’t be the first time someone had turned on Liviana. Someone she thought was a friend had turned out to be nothing more than a fake, a foe in disguise. Friendships had turned fatal and people who she once thought she knew well had become strangers, all in the blink of an eye. This would only be the first time that she had completely trusted the one who turned on her.In the weeks she’s known the two women in front of her, Liviana never had a sliver of a doubt that they were like the ones before. Leona and Violet both seemed so genuine and authentic. Their eyes held honesty and their words were always sincere, and she never had to pick apart their every sentence to try to figure out where the lie was hidden, like she had done with everyone

After a night of binge watching old reruns of Friends and stuffing their faces with cake, Liviana wakes up feeling oddly refreshed and ready to start her day. Carefully, Liviana climbs out of bed, trying to not disturb Leona who lay beside her, having fallen asleep during their midnight movie marathon, taking up the majority of her bed. Not that Liviana was complaining. She was just pleased they had worked everything out. With that thought in mind, Liviana closes her bathroom door, clicking it shut and leaning against it with a sigh. As happy as she was to have her friends back, she couldn't help but be confused on why Amara was trying to come between them in the first place. Why would she lie? What was her motive behind her attempts at causing chaos? From what Leona had told her, she didn't have any. She was simply a bad person who took joy from others' misfortunes, even going as far as to create their hard times just for the fun of it. Still, despite Leona's explanation, Liviana co

Liviana was a dreamer. She was the person who always thought the best-case scenario before the worst. The type to see the silver lining in a storm cloud and the half of the glass that was full, ignoring the part that was empty. At least, that is who she tried to be. Who she convinced herself, and everyone else around, that she was. When in reality, she was just a girl who believed in hope. And even then, sometimes she lost that. And one of those times was when they pulled up to the tattoo parlor. "You change your mind yet?" At the sound of her husband's voice, Liviana lets out a small huff. She leans back in her seat, hand lingering at her seatbelt's buckle as she stares at the sign. Tattoos and piercing. Maybe she had changed her mind. "Is it too late?" She asks. "To, what? Change your mind?" Blaze asks, watching as her green eyes stare ahead, her leg bouncing with nerves. She nods. "Perhaps I could just get a piercing instead?" "Perhaps." The man shrugs. "So, what do we think?" "I think that it's good that I chose a spot where it can be hidden." Liviana mutters, letting her shirt fall and fixing her jeans, turning to face Violet and Leona who linger behind her and the mirror. "It's beautiful, though. And I love it." "Well, if you love it, then somebody else's opinion should not matter." Leona says, giving her a pointed look as she comments that Liviana shouldn't care what her parents thought. "Yeah." Violet agrees. "It's your body, Livi. You can do with it what you please and your parents don't get a say in any of it." "It's your body, your life, and your happiness on the line." Leona says, placing a hand on her shoulder and spinning her back to face the mirror. Violet lifts the corner of her shirt for her to see the blue butterfly once more. "Don't let your parents dictate it, okay? You have to do what's right for you." "And if getting a beautiful picture of art tattooed onto your skin is what feels right for you," Violet adds,

Are we ready?"Violet only raises a brow at Liviana in question, waiting for her to take the lead, and when she nods, Violet does, too. "Yes, I think we are." Violet says, turning around to face Leona who nods, staring at her phone and informing them that they had twenty minutes to get to the venue."I thought you said it doesn't start until seven?" There’s an inner battle of debate on whether to feign ignorance of having no idea what she was talking about, continuing her act of being perfectly fine, or to give Elara a peek behind the curtains to find her true vulnerable self that was riddled with anxiety, intimidated by ju

A young Liviana sat quietly, nervously, in the corner of the over-crowded room, people watching as though her life depended on it. What was she watching for? Not even she was sure. But that didn't stop her from looking. Her green eyes scanned over the crowd with caution, darting around from face to face and person to person. She watches them closely, almost as if she was waiting for something. And in a way, she was. She was looking for clarity, waiting and hoping it would find her and help her make the right choices. Liviana was waiting on her guardian angel to offer some wisdom, but it was clear her angel must have been busy, having failed to provide guidance on each instance as of late. She was beginning to wonder if she even had one anymore... maybe she quit - who knows? Sighing at the thought, she tilts her head back, resting it against the wall and allowing herself a short break. Her eyes fall shut, and for a moment, she just thinks - listens. She just is. The air was hot, thic

Little Liviana stood tall and alone, pushed to the back of the room while her siblings danced around in the center. Emilia always was better at being the center of attention- she thrived off of the spotlight. And Tino... he lived and breathed to find even the smallest dose of fun. It looked as though they were in their element, having the time of their life. As much as she wanted to leave - even after her touching talk with her sister - she just couldn't bring herself to ruin it for them. So, she stayed. She stayed, sat, waited and listened, watching as the time flew by right in front of her eyes. And then, before she knew it, two more hours had passed and it was after midnight. It was late, but was it too late? She couldn't be sure. All she had left to do was to hope and pray. The young girl sighs, head tilting to the side as she pries her eyes away from the scene, only to latch on to another. And God, if this one wasn't shocking, she wasn't sure she knew what shocking was anymore.F

The set of the three Santora siblings approaches the lively house with caution. "Is this it?" Liviana asks, stopping to stare up at the place that was practically bursting at the seams with people. She couldn't believe she was here. She never thought they would actually make it - she hoped Emilia was more reasonable, and prayed she would come to her senses. And yet, here they were. They finally made it."Yeah," Emilia mutters, a smile stretching widely across her lips as she takes in the view behind her. It was everything she could have ever hoped it'd be. It was the perfect picture - practically ripped right out of the movies. And God, she couldn't wait to join in. "Come on! Let's go!"Suddenly, the girl is surging forward and rushing up the stairs, calling for her siblings to follow her in what they could only imagine being an overcrowded, overstimulating mess. It was safe to say that Liviana and Tino were nowhere near as excited as their sister was. "Wait!" Livi calls, taking a st

"How much farther?" A young Liviana questioned, trailing behind her siblings and dragging her feet with her dread. "I thought you said it wasn't far-""Because it's not," Emilia insists. "It's just up ahead.""Are you sure?" She asks, unsure of herself as well as her sister. Emilia didn't seem to know what she was doing, and it scared Liviana. Why did she agree to this?Emilia huffs, nodding. "Yes, Liviana. I'm sure," she says. "Just trust me, alright? I know what I'm doing."Did she? Liviana couldn't be sure, and she wasn't sure she wanted to stick around to find out. Was this really worth it? She didn't think so. "You know," Liviana clears her throat, skipping a step to catch up to her siblings. "It's not too late.""Too late?" Tino echoes. "Too late for what?""Too late to turn back-"At this, Emilia comes to a halt and whips around to face her sister. "Go back?" Young Liviana sat quietly on her bed, her head hanging low in her hands as her mind spun. What was she doing? What was she supposed to do?Her mind was running in circles, replaying those dreadful conversations over and over again and forcing her to face the questions she hated to have to answer. Which one of her siblings would she stand by? Emilia or Ben? Who did she trust more? The thought alone was upsetting, and she couldn't bring herself to answer it. How could she ever choose between the two? They were both her biggest protectors - in their own ways - and she needed them. How was she expected to pick a side and betray the two people she loved most in the world? It was an impossible decision, and she couldn't wrap her head around it. Emilia or Ben? Her sister or her brother? Her head or her heart?"Fuck," she curses, eyes squeezing tightly shut at the sharp pain she feels shooting through her temple. The question itself sounded difficult and painful, but it felt worse than she

Liviana stood thoughtfully before her mirror, examining her reflection closely as she slowly put herself together. It started with the makeup - her sister's special touch, as Emilia insisted they must look their best - though her version of the best varied from that of their mothers. She had never worn a mask so dark.Next were the clothes - clothes she would never call her own, as she couldn't even call them comfortable."Do I really have to wear this?" She asks, pulling at the bottom of the short black dress in a poor, pointless attempt at making it longer. She had never worn anything so small. "It's basically a shirt-"Emilia rolls her eyes from behind the girl, calling her dramatic. "It's not that short," she disagrees. "And besides, it's pretty.""It is kinda pretty," Livi doesn't deny it, muttering to herself about how nice it looked. "But it's too short, Emilia. It's not for me, okay? It's too... different.""Different is good!" Emilia argues. "It's, like, the whole point, Livi

"Livi?"The girl nearly shrieks, settling for a gasp as she pulls her bedroom door shut in a rush. "Dad!" She greets, spinning around to face the man. "Hi!""What are you doing?""Nothing," she says, frowning. "I'm not doing anything. Why do you ask?""You seem... different," he says. "Odd. Are you sure there's nothing wrong?""Yeah, mhm," she hums, offering the man an unconvincing nod. "I'm okay- everything's okay! There's nothing to worry about here, dad."He hums, eyes raking up and down his surly daughter, and she could practically feel the suspicion in his gaze. It was almost as if he was trying to look into her soul. "Well, if you're sure-""I'm sure," she swears, mustering up the most convincing smile she could as she assures him that she was alright - everything was fine."Good, good..." he trails, clearing his throat. "Listen, about dinner-""Oh, you don't have to... say anything," she says, her smile fading to something more tainted. "It's fine."He furrows a brow. "It is?"

"Are you... serious?"At the awkward question and the meek voice it's spoken by, Ben glances up from his spot on the bed and hums. "Serious?" He echoes, unsure about what she was muttering on about. "About what?""Mom and dad," Liviana reminds, asking, "are they really that bad?"Ben sighs, attempting to offer his little sister a careful answer. "They're, uh... complicated.""Complicated?" Livi repeats, joining her brother on the bed with a frown. "I don't... I don't understand. What are they?"Ben only grows all the more confused by her questioning, and his lips tilt down in a frown of his own. "What?""What kind of people are they?" She presses. "Mom and dad, I mean - are they good people or... are they bad people?"He hums. "Well, that's a good question, kid," he says, voice soft as he offers his sister a thoughtful look. The eldest of his kids shortly had enough.Ben coughs, clearing his throat and folding his dinner napkin up in his lap. "So..." he trails, pasting a smile onto his lips and turning to face his father.
