Nathan's POV

It was showtime.

The first part of the plan which was dropping Leo off at school and letting them see him clearly had already been completed now it was time for the dangerous part.

The plan all in all was to capture a handful of not all of the men that were there and teaching them a big lesson for even thinking of hitting my son they way that they did. They should have known that no one messes with Nathan Sterling and goes scot-free.

I switched off the engine of my car and got down, making my way immediately into the house that I had purchased for the bodyguards that Max had sent to me from New York. They were from the finest security and protection company over there.

"Are we ready?!" I yelled immediately I turned the door knob and entered the living room

"Yes!" A uniform chorus came back to me as a response and I smiled. They had the type of spirit I had, fearless and always ready for a challenge.

I nodded, my eyes scanning the room, taking in the sight of the highly t

Rayne’s POVImmediately we got to the back door, the school bell rang and I felt the fear jump into my heart. Now the school would go into its usual chaos after school with students running around but when I looked out of the compound, I realize that it was a good thing because we could easily get lost in the crowd and Zia’s men won’t really notice.“Come on. Let’s go” I said to Leo after putting his hoodie above his head to block them from recognizing him. We made our way out of the building and easily blended into the crowd and I only took a normal breath when we got into the car and drove off.“That was harder than I had initially imagined” I whispered to myself but my relief didn’t last long when I suddenly realized that we were being followed by one of the black cars. They were onto us.“Shit!” I exclaimed, trying to see them clearly from my review mirror.“What is it mummy?” Leo asked me and I sighed and yelled for him to but on his seatbelt because we were about to have a crazy

Nathan's POVI was boiling in anger and fear as I drove. Some men following behind me as we drove along the highway.Rayne's call was supposed to have been a happy one with her telling that she was back with Leo safely at home and me telling her that we had successfully captured all of Zia's men back at the school but hearing Leo's voice ask me to come save them shattered my heart and happiness. What was happening? Had there been more men that we knew nothing about? How had they found out that the person they were following was Rayne even when she was in her costume? It didn't make any sense. Unless someone had been following her from the onset of the plan."Oh God please keep them safe for me" I whispered a prayer up to the skies and crossed my fingers, hoping for good news and focused on looking around the highway for Rayne's car and it didn't take longer than that for me to sight her car at the far right off the road. I didn't need someone to tell me that they had been ambushed. A

Rayne's POVMy eyes felt heavy as I tried to open them. What happened and where was I? The bed I was lying in was not so comfortable and it was adding to my anxiousness.I tried racking my brain to remember the last thing I could and when Zia's face flashed before my eyes, everything came rushing back to me. She has taken my son with her. I felt like screaming and trashing the whole place for my son but I was still too weak for that so the pain just ate at me as I tried to steady my breathing.Tears welled up in my eyes, blurring my vision. How could she? A sob escaped my lips, turning into a shaky cough that wracked my whole body. My throat felt like sandpaper and my head throbbed with a dull ache. Every part of me screamed at me to get up, to find Leo, but I was stuck. My limbs felt heavy, useless. A choked whimper escaped my lips. "Leo," I rasped, my voice barely a whisper. I took a deep breath and forced myself to focus. Panicking wouldn't help. I needed to get out of this bed

Rayne's POV It was now a week plus and I still couldn't think straight. My thoughts were everywhere. Zia still had my son, and I would do anything to get him back. But she was playing games with me, and I was scared. I was so scared and had a lot of images playing in my mind. What If she actually harmed him? No. She wouldn't do that right? No matter the case, I was who she wanted, she wouldn't harm a little boy to harm me right? But I knew she would. It was as if she was next to me laughing her heart out. I knew that if I didn't comply with whatever demands and had, she would harm him. I looked at my phone desperately, praying desperately to get a call from her so she could make her demands and I could grant them and Leo will be released. But her being Zia probably already knew I was waiting for her call and was taking her time so she could torture me. I paced around the room with my phone in hand, desperately praying. When my phone rang out, I started in shock despite already expe

Rayne's POV The day for the exchange was coming closer and I was stiff with anxiety. Since I was not going to follow them for the exchange, I decided to dedicate my time in making sure that everything behind the scenes was perfect. I would always make food for Nathan and the men with Jessica's help.Janet was not as loud as she usually was, it was as if she sensed that her elder brother was missing and we were trying to get him back so her cries reduced drastically. The day of the exchange came and my heart was in my mouth with fear. I hoped that everything went as planned. I demanded for a mic to be given to me so I could here whatever Zia was saying over the phone because I knew that she was definitely going to talk a lot of rubbish as usual.Jess volunteered to stay with me but I told her to go with them because Leo would need a mother figure there and since I was not available she was the closest person to do it. It was almost nightfall and I was pacing restlessly at the balcony, looking out of the door and windows, waiting desperately for Nathan's car to drive into the driveway. It was taking longer than expected and I felt like I was slowly loosing my mind. When I heard Nathan's car and the rest of the men's car pull up into the driveway, I dashed out of the house and ran to the back seat door before Nathan could park the car properly. I opened the door, carried Leo our of the car and hugged him tightly. "Are you alright? Did she hurt you? "I asked while I checked his body for any injury at all, swearing to myself to kill Zia and Elliot if I actually saw a scratch on Leo."No mummy. I'm very fine. Aunty Zia was feeding me well, it was just that she wouldn't let me see you" he replied me and I was a bit taken about by his response. Zia had not done anything to him truly because he didn't have a single scratch on his body and to my surprise he looked well fed and taken care of. I breathed de

I was in the kitchen, chopping up some vegetables to make dinner when It suddenly came to a pause as I felt strong arms encircle my waist from behind. It was no other person than Nathan from the smell of his cologne and because there was no one in the house who could do that as Jessica had gone back to New York after I persuaded her to go because working from there is safer. She had refused to go but I had successfully convinced her one day after I made her boyfriend fake an accident just so she could go back and go see him and as expected she had thrown a fit when she discovered that we had lied to her. I still chuckled when I remembered her angry voice"Everything smells amazing," Nathan murmured, his lips brushing against my ear and pulling me out of my thoughts about Jess.I smiled and l.e

Nathan's POVMy heart raced wildly as I ran up the stairs with Jack and Alex behind me. We reached the rooftop, and my heart sank as my worst fears were confirmed. A lady lay unconscious on the floor and I walked slowly to the body scared it was Rayne but it was Pamela. I felt bad but hoped she was still alive. I looked up to see a masked figure dressed in a black suit pointing a gun at someone. My heart skipped a beat when I saw Rayne shivering with fear at the gun pointed at her. “Hey, let her go!” I shouted, finally getting the attention of the masked person. The figure looked at me and back at Rayne and slowly removed its mask revealing a long hair flying with the wind. It was Zia. She had a wicked grin and spoke with a sinister tone. “Oh, my darling. You're just in time to witness the end of…this bitch.”I walked cautiously to her so as not to make her shoot. “How did you get in here?” I asked.Zia chuckled and answered calmly. “You're not the only one with spies, Nathan. Rayne's POVI pulled up to Rayne's house, my second home. Nathan and I were getting off on the good side. He was never that bad if I was being honest. I was just jealous. It was now a habit to spend the weekend with my biological family. Many times Dad had asked me to come stay with them but I couldn't abandon my adoptive parents and he understood.I planned on taking Rayne on a sibling date. I was going to live up to my big brother's expectations since we both missed growing up in each other's lives. Her kids were my kids and I couldn't have enough of them. I had a little chat with our father while Rayne dressed upstairs in her room. When she came down dressed in a lovely casual top and jeans with a baseball cap, I cheered because we had unknowingly worn the same thing.Janet crawled up to me, and she lifted her body making an attempt to stand but her feet wobbled and she fell but I caught her in time. She giggled and raised her hands up for me to carry her. Nathan came by and after

Zia’s POVI didn't say much and let Lucinda do her stuff. She presented the paperwork from the court to the head officer and I was free to go. Nothing felt better than leaving the mental hospital. It was a breath of fresh air. I had all sorts of emotions come to me. It was a mix of relief, anxiety, and uncertainty. Lucinda let me into her car and flashed me a sly smile. “Get in,” she said with an up tone. “We can catch on what we have missed on the way. I want to know everything.” I scoffed and entered the vehicle. “You wish, old witch as if I would ever tell her anything. Like I would ever tell you anything. You deserve nothing but total hatred from me,” I thought, faking a smile at her. She drove as I sat in the car and the image of the mental hospital gates getting distant made me want to fly to the moon. I didn't trust her so I let the questions fly around to be sure. “How did you know I was locked up in an asylum?” I asked, my eyes fixed on her body movements to detect if sh

Zia’s POVMy body grew numb as I lay in the cold room. My mind became foggy as I Lost my sense of time. I hoped Sarah was able to make it far away. She could always find a way to help me but how she would go about it bothered me. My teeth chattered uncontrollably and I couldn't feel my fingers or toes. White smokey gas came out of my nose and mouth anytime I breathed out in my vain effort to warm myself. I clutched down to the side of the room, with my hands folded across my knee.I was about to give up and pray for death so I could end it all, but the door creaked open and a worker stepped in. I raised my head and he looked at me with disgust. There was no hint of flinch of pity in his eyes. “Well, well, well. Look at what we have here,” he said, mocking my situation. “If it isn't the little troublemaker? How do you feel? Do you want to escape or perhaps you want to create another show?”I shivered and tried to maintain eye contact. Every time I tried to speak, my mouth felt dry and

Zia’s POVSarah and I exchanged looks and began laughing. When we were tired of laughing, we started working. I began brushing the dust and dirt away while Sarah mopped the room. We worked for nearly two hours and the room was almost completely clean. I wiped the sweat on my forehead with the back of my hand. We rested a bit as we finished the work. Sarah lay beside me panting. I whispered to her. “What do you say about getting the hell out of here?”“You don't mean..?” Sarah whispered back, her gaze still fixed on the ceiling. “Yeah, leave her for good,” I answered. “How are we supposed to do that? The hospital thinks we are crazy and it would take a long time to convince them that we are sane enough to be discharged, we came here because of a crime,” Sarah replied. “I wasn't talking about convincing anymore. And for all I know, I am pretty sure they can tell we aren't crazy. We have to escape,” I said confidently.Sarah shivered and sat up immediately to think. “That would be

I got to her table and carefully sat on the opposite seat so as not to aggravate her in case I was wrong. “Hi,” I said, smiling. I looked around to make sure none of the nurses, doctors or any officials were watching. “I'm Zia,” I said, giving her my hand for a polite handshake. She looked at me with a hint of curiosity then at my free hand and she slowly let out her hand and shook mine. “Hey, I'm Sarah and I am not crazy.” She said calmly but in a happy voice. “Glad to see someone else has their head right. I was worried you would…” I said, but was unable to finish the words, afraid it would come off as offensive to her. “Koo Koo. Nuts missing and screws flying. Nah, I'm fine. I just act along sometimes so I get to be left alone and not poked with annoying needles all the time,” she explained. She was a chatty one and I liked that. I needed

Zia’s POVThe prison room was cold as I was alone in my room. I glanced at the toilet from my small bed. The bed was only large enough to carry only me. I felt devastated, angry at Rayne but pity for myself. How did I move from the queen of the business world to this? And Elliot? That bastard had betrayed me. I had betrayed him first but it still didn't give him the right to leave me like this.I had spent a month in this disgusting cell, the prison room was neat and I was lucky for someone to pay for me to stay alone after a week of torture and bruising from the other prison mates. I had begged the warden for a phone call to call my Dad, Rayne's father but he didn't respond to any of my calls. Maybe, it was Dad but I was moved to the upper-class prison cells where I could stay alone and not have to worry about fighting for where to sleep with five roommates for the night or being woken up with kicks. The inmates were cruel and I was subjected to slavery. I began to feel how my maid

I stepped backward looking him up and down as if he was drunk. “Alex, I think you have the wrong person. Did you hear your head?” I asked with worry etched on my face. Alex walked forward, his hands outstretched to me trying to pacify me. “Rayne, I know this might come off somewhat crazy but I'm your brother. Your twin brother.”“Yo…your twin? What the heck? First, Zia gets out and I know she's not smart to do this plus she is at the hospital.” “You think it's Lucinda?” Nathan asked calmly. “I don't know who to blame right now. Have you checked the CCTV footage?” I asked, hoping to find some answers. Nathan answered just immediately as if he was expecting me to ask the questions. “My men are working on it now.” Jack walked in at that moment. “We could find any suspicious activity or persons on the camera.
