43. New Reality

Gideon's POV

"I love you son," I can barely hear her when I feel warm lips against my temple. The same warmth slips into my heavy body, as the warmth spreads, I feel my limbs slowly grow lighter. I can't move when the person holding me falls limp. I hear gasps and soft sobs as my chest feels heavy knowing it is my mother.

"You did it Kulta, you saved him," I hear my father cry; I force my eyes open while sitting up taking a deep sharp breath. “Mutsi, Isä.” My heart stammers when I look over to see my mother lying limp in my father’s arms as her best friend holds them, trying to comfort him.

I shake my head thinking losing Mutsi always seemed impossible. My mother was the Moon Goddess; nothing was supposed to be able to kill her. She has always been the one to protect us all.
