“Mommy!” my daughter shouted as she ran towards me.
I laughed as I saw her approaching me, I just got home from work and the first thing I saw was her small body gaping towards me. I slowly crept down to hold her in my arms. As she arrived in front of me, she clung and kissed me on my cheeks several times; I giggled. “You missed me that much?” I asked, smiling at her. She in turn did the same and nodded her head. How innocent those eyes looked like. I lightly patted her head and slowly kissed her on the forehead. “I miss you too,” I whispered as I lifted her up in my arms. “Do you have a gift for me, mommy?” she innocent asked, her long eyelashes swaying as she blinks. “Of course, hone.” She clapped her hands out of joy while I on the other hand, removed my heels. I pinched her nose and then made my way together with her inside the apartment. “Where’s your Auntie Azaia and Andrian?” I asked. When I roamed my eyes aroIt’s been four years but it doesn’t feel like anything changed at all.I am now standing outside our house, carrying my baby in my arms. She’s currently asleep due to exhaustion from the long flight and on my other hand, I held my baggage.I took a deep breath and finally approached the door to ring the doorbell. When I did so, I bit my lower lip. Nervousness started creeping down my body again, it’s been years since I last saw them; I didn’t even say goodbye to them and now I’m back and I even brought a child with me. How will they react?Startled at the sound of the gate opening, I fixed myself in front of the door. One of our maids in our house looked to see who it was and found me at the doorstep, looking at her straight in the eye.Recognition flashed through her face before her jaw dropped open. She then blinked several times before mumbling my name out. “Ma’am Ayesha,” she said in awe. I gave her a narrow smile before she looked at the child I’m carrying. “P
I woke up from the sound of my alarm and so I quickly turned it off and glanced to look at my child who was deeply asleep beside me.It’s only six o’ clock in the morning but I need to get up so I can prepare everything my baby needs. A smile roamed around my lips as I watched her. I kissed her on the forehead and carefully get up and walk away.I stole the chef’s role and cooked for my own daughter. Even when I was in the America I always wake up early just so I can prepare food for her before going my way with Cassandra to work. When I finished everything, I immediately went my way up and coincidentally she just came out of the washroom. She hugged me using her small body and kissed me on my cheeks.“Good morning, mommy. Are you going somewhere?” she asked.I smiled at her and gently messed up her hair a bit.“Remember when I told you that when we get here, mommy is going to work?” I asked and to her nodding state. “I’ll be working at Auntie Cas
My head was in the clouds the whole time since Daevon left my office. I turned my folder away from me before leaning my back on my swivel chair.Just seeing him earlier already messed me up completely. What if the same thing happened if we were talking about our daughter?I sighed to myself and slowly opened my eyes. When I looked forward, my eyes automatically widened in surprised as I saw him standing in front of me.He stared at me with coldness in his eyes while I, averted my gaze.“W-What are you doing here?” I asked. That’s how deep my thought were from earlier, I didn’t even notice him coming in.“I’m the one who should ask you that. What are you doing here?” he asked using a baritonic voice. I tried to calm myself before looking at him the same way he did. That’s right, Ayesha. Why are you affected by him? He’s nothing to you anymore.“As you can see, I am the acting CEO here,” I said, stating a fact in front of those dar
"You're easily swayed," Azaia said and rolled her eyes. It's been a month since that happened between the two of us and I must say... my friend doesn't look too happy at all. She's currently staying inside my office.I also rolled my eyes before putting ny head down in the table. I glanced at her."That was lust not stupidity, Azaia," I corrected. "It's been four years since I was last given fertilizer," I reasoned out.She looked at me with a scorn in her face before shaking her head."Whatever Ayesha, whatever" she mumbled and sipped her coffee."How's Daeshaia by the way?" she asked after a while. My mood then automatically got better."She's fine. She enjoys playing with my mom and dad," I said smiling."Is she still looking for him?" The smile on my face disappeared. I looked at the city from across the high building."Always. It didn't change," I weakly said
After a few minutes passing by, the same familiar structure of the house engulfed my view. He parked his car at the side and just like that, I was at the same place we used to live together.I took a deep sigh and just did what he wanted. I’m already tired of fighting back when in the end he always wins because of his strength.Silence reigned upon us as we entered the place quietly. No one was trying to break the silence as my eyes glanced at him; looking like he was having deep thoughts. I suddenly remembered my daughter, I’m sure at this hour she’d be waiting for me now. I took out my phone from the inside of my bag and dialed my mom’s number on the phone while I saw him going towards the kitchen.I even distanced myself a little more so he wouldn’t hear me. After a few rings, they answered from the other side of the call.Mommy? There was a hint of happiness and confusion under my child’s voice. I gently shook my head thinking that she borr
I stared blankly at my office the whole morning. It feels like I’ve been played all along. He was not there that day. Then if that was the case… what was that thing I encountered four years ago?Did… Ellaine planned it all along?I shook my head. I don’t want to think negative words about someone but there’s still a possibility. Why would she do that?I was out of my reverie when I heard a knock. The door then swung open gently and whom appeared in front of me was none other than Daevon.I froze for a second when I saw him holding onto a bouquet of rose as he approached me.He thinly smiled at me and put down the flowers onto my table.“T-Thanks,” I uttered weakly while looking at it. I then turned to look at him.“I change my mind,” he said in a low pitch voice while staring at me. I gulped, feeling as if something was stuck in my throat.“What do you mean?” I asked. I almost thanked God for not letting me stutter.
"Is this real?" my daughter asked. Her eyes couldn’t stop from widening and gasping as waters started forming in her eyes. We’re currently inside our room where she watched the video I showed her. I only forced myself to smile and nodded.Hi honey. How are you? Take care always.“D-Daddy,” she called out and tears started streaming down her little rosy cheeks. I then immediately embraced her into a tight hug. It’s been a week since I gathered all of my strength and went with my plan.I decided to arrange everything now about my daughter but I still need to prepare Daeshaia with whatever happens. I made sure to ask Daevon for one take of a video.*flashback*“Ah…Daevon?” I called out after we ate. “Can you do me a favor?” I felt him squeeze my hand gently under the table. He then looked at me with a serious look on his face. “As long as it’s not to let go of you, then sure,” he said. I gasped for a second with what he said but quickly r
It’s already late yet Daevon is still in our house. He’s playing with my daughter in the living room while the three of us stood there in the kitchen, talking among ourselves.“So what’s your plan?” my dad asked casually while drinking his coffee. Both of them were eyeing me, waiting for me to speak.I only cupped my chin using my hand and massaged my temple.“I don’t know. I need to talk to him first,” I said before looking at them.My mom smiled at me thinly and gently patted me on my shoulder. “Everything will be okay,” she reassured. “I can feel it, he still loves you so give him a chance.”A sad smile roamed my lips and let out a sigh. You got your gut feeling wrong, mom.I shook my head. As I was beginning to be lost in thoughts, I suddenly felt a presence behind my back.“Let’s talk,” a baritonic voice said.I can feel the same fear crawling down my chest but I tried to remove it. I turned to him with a life
I was sleeping peacefully when my phone rang.I groaned and scanned where I fucking put my phone and answered it without seeing who it was."Please do me a favor." My forehead knotted as I opened my eyes and slowly sit on my bed. That was the first thing he told me the moment I answered the phone call."What now Ivann?" I seriously asked.I heard him sigh before dropping the bomb."I'm sick," he mumbled that made me frozen in feet."Then fucking take a medicine," I hissed when I recovered my composure."I'm flying to America tomorrow," he informed me."Drop the favor," I simply said; looking tired from these shit I'm hearing."Guard my ex, Daevon, " he mumbled in low pitch voice.I creased my forehead, still my phone was close to my ear."You mean stalk her?" I sarcastically asked."I owe you big time for this. I just want to make sure that she won't do anything stupid," he stated."You mean kill her
We all went together at the same time when we were now rested. We're all happy to see her kicking well and had the kids go home early with Auntie while we stayed behind."So mind to tell me what's happening?" Cassandra asked, breaking the silence betwen us all."We're good," Daevon answered. My face quickly flushed red; feeling all the warmth going towards my face. That's not what she meant when asked!"Really? But I remember you saying it once before that you will make him cry," my friend said teasingly. My eyes widened.Fuck you, girl!I felt Azaia, secretly laughing at the sideline.I mouthed bitch to Cassandra before raising one of my eyerbrows at her.I turned towards Azaia, rolling my eyes. "You're laughing at me, traitor," I said and pursed my lips; sulking. She laughed once again before looking at the curious Cassandra. She started narrating what happened to her, the sameway Andre
After a day, I was immediately discharged. Daevon quickly got me a check up at the OB so we can get an update over my pregnancy. We both let out a sigh of relief when I found out that our baby was normal and I was healthy. It feels like something warm touched my heart when I saw the teary-eyed Daevon. He was staring at the small monitor, looking at an image of a baby.He looked at me and mouthed thank you with so much emotions in his eyes. I just smiled at him in return. We ate first at a restaurant before coming home. As the gate swung open, I saw my baby running towards me. She gave me a tight hug and kissed me."I miss you, Mommy," she mumbled and embrace me tighter.I hug her back with the same ferocity and kissed her forehead. After she was finished with me she turned to glance at her dad and reached out her little hands to be carried in his arms. They exchange the same imissyou's and have a littl
DAEVON'S POVIt’s been a few hours yet until now she’s not yet waking up. What happened earlier really drained her.I heard a knock on the door before my friend Xenoah came insicde. I only gave him a thin smile as he patted my shoulder.“I owe you a lot,” I said emotionally and turned to look at my wife again laying on the hospital bed.I felt his presence still there, gazing at Ayesha for a few seconds.“She really loves you,” he said.A bitter smile crept into my lips as I closed my eyes.“I don’t know if I should be happy or not by that,” I weakly uttered under my breath.I gently caressed her face.“Because of her love for me, she almost lost her life. Not only her but also…” I gulped and turned to look at her stomach. “…our soon to be second child,” I added.I felt Xenoah’s hand patting my shoulder again.“I didn’t expect what she did. I know she loves me but I didn’t think she’d pick me over her own life,” I nar
After our emotional breakdown finished, we both fix ourselves and talk everything that we missed for the past four years."How about your pregnancy? Raising her alone with your two friends… was it hard?" he asked calmly while holding onto my hand.My other hand had been helping me munch away some chips while my head was leaning on his chest. We were both sitting on the sofa, watching movies on the television.I stopped to put the chip in my mouth for a second. “I was diagnosed with post-partum,” I said, uttering weakly.I felt him stiffened and then massaged my hand when he regained his composure back.“You know, I only have my instincts at that time. I believe that Ivann and I didn't do it but still I couldn’t erase the fact that there was a chance t-that she's Ivann's child,” I added.I felt his hold tightened. I stared blankly on the television with a sad smile looming my face.“One week. It was a total of one week, I didn’t look
I woke up disoriented. I quickly got out from my bed when I noticed the unfamiliar sight of the whole room. I suddenly tried to recall what happened until I remembered him carrying me last night.Daevon brought me here?I tried to calm myself down. This is a condo unit type with a simple yet elegant style. I heard some sounds coming from the other room and so I walked towards it. As I got closer and closer to the area, the voices become clearer.“I thought you’re not coming back anymore,” a man’s voice said.I never been nosy before but something tells me I need to listen to their conversation. I kept my distance, enough just so I can hear them. I heard some sizzling sound. Someone is cooking.“I just want to show her where I had been for the past four years,” I heard Daevon responded. So he didn’t come home before?“How about that other girl? What was her name again? Ellaine? Yeah, that’s it,” the other man’s voice asked casually.
