Xavier woke up with a start. He had a strange and faraway look in his eyes and he turned around, trying to catch sight of all of them.

“I just had the strangest dream in the world,” Xavier frowned. “In my dream, I saw my sister, Layla and she was…” Xavier paused and spun around suddenly. “Layla.”

Layla smiled at him and he rose up hastily and jumped up on her, squeezing her in his embrace. “I can’t believe this is actually you, again. How is this possible?”

Layla smiled and shrugged. “What can I say? We bless the gods. Selene has always been on our side hasn’t she?”

“Its her?” Jimin frowned. “Selene is the one who brought you back to life?”

“I won’t say brought me back to life exactly,” Layla laughed. “But yes, something like that. She bought me some time to help my big brother and his pack.”

“I see,” Jimin nodded. “You know what we have to do right? We have to head to the ends of the earth. Xavier has to claim his right as the Alpha King.”

“I know everything that I need to know Jimin

“You still haven’t told me how the two of you are brothers?” Layla frowned, her eyes fixed on her elder brother. “And why were you calling dad some hours ago? Is he somehow alive like you are?”“I promised I would tell you Layla,” Xavier grunted. “But there’s a lot going on right now. We’re still moving today remember? Don’t worry, I would fill you in.”“You’d better,” Layla snarled and turned to help a little kid that was trying to stand up. “Hello beautiful…”Xavier sighed in exasperation and allowed his mind to wander again. It was just the beginning of his second week as the Alpha of the pack but the drama that he had experienced first hand made it seem more like he had been the Alpha for a decade already. In just a week, he had watched the leader of the Elders die, as well as his own sister, along with a couple of other minor altercations that he doubted his father would have experienced in his own reign. It made him wonder if it was wise making all the decisions by himself. He s

Mork stared at the faces of the fifty Lycans standing before him and he could see it very clear in their eyes – fear, mixed with anger. He couldn’t blame them though. Their Lord commander and King, Ghost Damon who felt like he knew everything was the one that was going to cause their eventual downfall. It was beneath his imagination how he expected just fifty Lycans to take down a whole pack of werewolves and he prayed that he received an message from Ghost that back up was coming. Unlike the two times he went with a hundred men and managed to come back alive, he knew very well that none of them were going to survive it. It was a suicide mission and none of the Lycans there seemed to be happy about the fact that they were the ones deployed for that mission.“I know that none of you is thrilled to be here,” Mork grunted. “I for one am not thrilled to be here, for the third time.”“I think you should be,” Sven, a red haired Lycan grunted. “How come you have not been able to take down th

Mork stared in excitement at the Lycans that lined the other side of the rock and he could easily make out the face of the Lycan leading them. It was Ozark. He knew Ozark very well. He was brave, reckless and a good warrior if you were particular about someone who wanted to murder werewolves gruesomely. Many even claimed that Ozark was more reckless than Ghost himself and Mork knew that it was his only chance to rest the rumors he had always heard. He had heard a lot about Ozark but he had never been chanced to see him at the war front. Ozark was not one of the senior commanders in the Lycan army but Ghost saved him for only the most important missions because Ghost knew that he would always come in handy. However, Mork was still senior to him in position and could order him around.Mork whistled – a low tuned whistled that went through the winds and caught the attention of Ozark who was on the other side of the rock and once he had caught the commander’s attention, he knew that all h

Xavier stared at the screen of his phone in shock as he read the message that popped up and from the expression on his face, they all knew that there was a problem. Jimin was the first to react. He steadied hos reins and whipped at his horse to go faster and when he had caught up with Xavier who had preferred to move ahead of them on foot, he stopped and climbed down.“What is the matter, Xavier?” he asked as he peered at the phone screen to see whatever it was that made Xavier stop walking so awkwardly. He stared at the screen of the phone and he read the message himself. It was from Elder Obada.“News has just reached me from the Mountain Ghost Pack. The Lycans attacked about an hour ago and have managed to close them in. I would advise you change your route and head to the other packs first. Fighting with Lycans less than an hour into your journey would not be the best option for you and your men.”Jimin stared at Xavier and their eyes met each other’s. “What do you suggest we do,

“Calisté was our father’s enemy for the better part of his life,” Xavier started. “For all his life if I’m being very practical. Jimin’s father, Tae was the Beta of our pack back then and he was meant to marry Calisté.”“He was meant to marry Calisté?” Layla frowned. “How did he get mated to a witch?”“They were not mates,” Xavier frowned. “They were lovers. Our father would not hear of it – that his Beta wanted to get married to a witch and so he spoilt their blossoming relationship by telling Tae’s father. Tae’s father attacked Calisté’s family as a form of warning for her to stay clear from his son and that was where the war started.”“Are you trying to say that we the werewolves are the ones at fault?” Layla frowned, her eyes fixed on her own elder brother.“I would advise you reduce your voice,” Xavier said looking around. “You don’t want our soldiers to hear this do you?”Layla frowned and they walked on, ahead of Jimin, Megan and the rest of the warriors.“We started this war,

Luckily for the Mountain Ghost pack, they were not yet down when Xavier and his warriors got there. Ozark and his men had already broken through the back and killed a good number of the werewolves there but the bulk of the war was still going on at the front where Xavier and his warriors had pitched.“I’ve never gone to war in my life,” Xavier whispered to Layla who was standing at his right hand side.“Me neither,” she whispered back to him. “Hopefully this would be our first of many, not our last.”“Hopefully,” Xavier managed to say. He turned to face Jimin who was standing by his left. “You’re the most seasoned fighter amongst all of us here. What do you have in mind?”“I’ve never fought here before,” Jimin grunted. “But I’ve heard a lot about this pack. I know the geography and all I can say is that our archers are almost useless once we get inside this cave.”“A good number of our warriors are archers,” Xavier said, alarmed. “What hope do we have against them?”“The ones I recrui

Layla raised her head defiantly and saw the burly bastard. He was way larger than any of them there but he looked very young, fresh and without scars. His eyes were gleaming red and his skin was brown and tattooed in multiple places. He smiled at her, exposing his white set of teeth and the only thing that stopped Layla from standing up from the floor to kick his ass was the fact that she was still clinging on to the limp body of her father.“You don’t get it, Layla Damon, your father is dead,” Ozark laughed. “Your father and your brother, hopefully. I killed the two of them with one strike.”Layla raised up her head and stared at him. “How do you know who I am?”“Who doesn’t know who you are?” Ozark stared back at her. “The stubborn daughter of the Alpha King. Ghost tells us the story every single night. The story of how he plucked off his little niece’s head right from her body, how the blood splattered and stained his white tux, the memory remains fresh in my head. I suppose it sho

“Rhea? Helping? After all I told you about her?”The disgust on Jimin’s face was pretty much obvious and Xavier knew that it was going to take more than mere words to convince his Beta that the Lycan kings daughter was actually on their side.“She’s helping out with Calistè,” Xavier frowned staring at Jimin. “She saved my life and i really think we should give her a chance.”“Well I don’t think we should,” Jimin sighed. “After all that she’s done, but if that’s what you want, who am into argue with you?”Jimin turned around immediately and stormed out and Xavier watched as he left. Jimin watched as Layla rallied the group together in the small study, the space getting filled up immediately with eager faces ready to fight for their Alpha, for their kingdom. Jimin turned away from the group, striding into the main study and shutting it close behind him. When he turned around, Xavier was staring up at her, his hands frozen untop a map that he'd probably been gazing at before Jamie entered."You know you can join your sister and help with the planning. Instead of being all by yourself, worrying, like always." Jimin was satisfied with Xavier's severe frown, his forehead wrinkling. Xavier ignored him and went back to his perusal of the map. Jimin drew closer, his head tilting down to take in the almost real picture of their kingdom. Xavier had placed pins around the boarder, and was currently swirling one in his hand while staring at the map in concentration. He stuck the pin at a place that didn't make sense and let out a grunt of frustration. She challenged.Rhea rushed at her, her hands holding two daggers now, her feet swift on the ground and her stance defensive even though she was the attacker now.Flames went up in different directions and Rhea glanced quickly to see that Layla had her hands on Xavier as he steadied his breath to catch his breathing and stop the bleeding that was now obvious.Rhea got even more angry as she dodged the attack on time, her face nearly been dissected by calistè's sharp sword."You know how I got this sword? Huh!" Calistè boasted and struck again, missing Rhea immediately from her swift and tricky movements."I have a feeling you're going to tell me anyway, so do" Rhea said and took another stance. With two of her fingers she gestured for calistè to meet her a

The eldest elder asked again.Xavier who was still managing to recover from how they knew about Rhea snapped out of his head and stepped forward in the council."I have lead this kingdom for a while and everybody can see my works" Xavier began and some of the elders nodded their heads to what he said but not Marcus."I have been away for quite some time" he looked intently at everyone" And I bring you news from the snowy mountains and others... The fight took a lesser time to finish as they had gotten that source of information, blood and splatters of beast remains stained them and the very earth that they walked on. Layla couldn't help but feel very dirty about the whole scenario that played out in front of her."We've got to help the women and the children Xavier" she said while Xavier turned back into his human form.Xavier didn't utter a single word as he walked past her and back to where a horse had galloped to."Xavier!" She called for him, her feelings out on a platterXavier stopped walking but didn't turn to look at her."I'm talking to you. We should help them out Xavier" she said, her voice sharp and firm and this got Xavier turning to look at her square in the face and Layla was able to see just how much anger resided in his little orbs of crystal clear darkness."No" he said, a Huff if air coming out of his nostrils with his finality."What?" Xavier nodded his head in agreement."Lead the way" Jamie was more than happy to do so.They walked together under Jamie's direction and lead, he would lead them to a path that had a sheltering , like a makeshift house but with tents. Jimin was bent over a hurdle of stacked sticks and on closer inspection, he was currently striking two stones together in order to produce fire."Jimin, let me help you with that" Layla said and walked ahead of the men to help jimin, in seconds she had done that which jimin had struggled with. With food on the raging fire, each of the flame licking a bit of the left over meat, night had quickly fallen on them."I have a question Xavier" Layla suddenly said, everybody's attention focused on her , the illumination the fire casted around the

There was an obvious change in the air the next day, Xavier was calmer and for the first time, so was Layla. They had both had time to think, mostly Layla.Jamie had appeared out of nowhere, map in hand as he suddenly cleared their breakfast off of the table that had seen more of the good life than the ugly.He spread the map evenly and Xavier glanced at Layla just in the nick of time to see that same excitement he couldn't deny made him feel a spark." Xavier, lead the way" Jamie said as he stepped away from the map. Xavier who had been seated stood up and so did the rest. With their necks outstretched, they gathered around him like a flock of flightless birds in need of direction."We go through the Rocky mountain which should take a day but now that we have no means of flight or how to get there asides from our obvious walking, we'd have to take nearly two days to get there," he said, pointing at some steep and yet pointy figures that made its way to the map."What about going arou
