"What kind of question is that, Alvin?" Patricia responded, her voice betraying the swirl of emotions she fought to suppress. She rose slowly from her seat, hoping the distance would help steady her nerves.

But Alvin had other plans. Before she could take another step, he grasped her hand, his fingers curling around hers with a firm but gentle hold. With a swift tug, he pulled her back toward him, and before she knew it, Patricia lost her balance, landing unceremoniously in his lap. Her heart lurched as she found herself pressed against the heat of his chest, her senses instantly engulfed by his presence.

"A-Alvin—let me go," she stammered, her voice a mix of frustration and surprise. She planted her palms on his firm chest, the warmth of his body seeping through his shirt and into her skin as she pushed against him, trying to break free.
