CHAPTER 13

Alvin didn’t answer. Instead, Patricia was genuinely surprised when, out of the blue, his lips met hers. The kiss was warm, insistent, and took her breath away. She felt a surge of emotion flood her chest, a mix of shock and excitement.

“What are you doing?” she asked, unable to hide the tremor in her voice, pushing him away with a force that belied her smaller frame. Her wide eyes searched his for answers, confusion etched in her features.

“Oh, please,” Alvin replied with a hint of exasperation, pulling her close again. His lips found hers once more, this time with a deeper urgency. “I’ve waited for this moment for so long, Patricia. Let me be happy. Give me the chance to have you, even if it’s just for tonight,” he murmured against her lips, his eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that made her heart race.
