The Past...

“GOOD morning, sleepyhead.”

Alvin's gentle voice wrapped around Patricia like a warm blanket, pulling her from the last remnants of sleep. The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft, golden glow across the room. Patricia stretched lazily, the cool sheets sliding off her skin as she blinked away the haze of slumber.

“Hey, you’re here early,” she remarked, her voice still tinged with the softness of sleep. She sat up slowly, running a hand through her tousled hair, feeling the faint chill of the morning air on her skin.

“Yeah, I came straight here so we could have breakfast together,” Alvin replied, his tone affectionate as he perched on the edge of the bed. The mattress dipped slightly under his weight, and the familiar scent of his cologne—woodsy with a hint of spice—filled her senses as he leaned in and pressed a tender kiss to her forehead. “I missed you,” he added, his voice low, almost a whisper.
