Chapter 29_ Pleased

Vanessa wondered how long it had been since she had fallen unconscious, she didn't only think about that but also the reason why she was in the hospital in the first place.

Someone had tried to stab Manuel and she stood in for him, taking the hit.

For a moment, she felt stupid for doing such a thing but Vanessa considered it as a return of favor. For all of the times he'd saved her from getting harmed.

Vanessa tried to move her arm, it was still so painful for her. She wondered how long it would take her to recover. She needed to go and clear her name.

Vanessa looked at Manuel who didn't stop Staring at her since she woke up.

"I didn't do it," she said briefly. "I didn't push Mara." She added. Vanessa didn't think that Manuel believed her. He had once accused her of being spiteful and could do anything to surpass any of her colleagues. She couldn't help but think that he was also blaming her for Mara's predicament. Since he was also in contact with Marina.
