As we sit planning a strategy to catch Elara my head starts to hurt, not just from all the planning but because of the grief I'm carrying from losing Miles. Xander notices.

Hey, Allegra,” Xander's voice breaks through the tense atmosphere of the war room, his touch gentle as he squeezes my hand. His concern is evident, and I appreciate his attempt to lighten the mood. “I think we could both use a break from all this planning, don't you?”

I meet his gaze, surprise flickering before a small smile creeps onto my lips. “You read my mind, Xander,” I respond, a sense of gratitude coloring my voice. “I could definitely use a distraction right about now.”

Without needing any further encouragement, Xander takes my hand and leads me out of the room, the weight of our responsibilities momentarily forgotten as we step into the cool night air. “Where are we going?” I ask, curiosity bubbling up as we fall into step together.
