Astrid's POV
One month later
“How the hell could you get pregnant by someone you don’t even know, Astrid!? Was this how I trained you?” His roar reverberated through the room, sending icy shivers down my spine. The anger in his voice was palpable, and I could feel every word slicing through me like a blade.
“I’m… I’m…” I stammered, trying to find the right words, but before I could finish, he struck me across the face. The force of the slap made me tumble and fall to the ground, my skin scraping against the rough floor.
“Ahhh!” I cried out in pain, my hands instinctively flying up to cover my face. The sting from the slap was nothing compared to the burning shame and regret I felt. I had never imagined that a night of revenge against my ex would lead to this—an unwanted pregnancy with a stranger.
“You have disgraced me, Astrid!” he thundered. “I rejected you, I disowned you for your wrong choices, and now you come crawling back, pregnant by someone I don’t even know? What more humiliation can you bring upon me? What more disgrace?”
My father’s face was red with fury, his eyes glaring at me with a mix of disappointment and rage. I could hardly believe he had discovered my pregnancy, but I knew he would never let me off lightly.
“I’m so sorry, Father. I didn’t mean for any of this to happen! I didn’t mean to sleep with a stranger and end up pregnant!” I pleaded, sinking to my knees. My hands were clasped together in desperation as I begged for his forgiveness.
Tears streamed down my face, and I kept my head bowed, trying to avoid his piercing gaze. I knew my father well—the Alpha of the Bluestone Pack was known for his harshness and unforgiving nature. No one dared to cross him, not even me.
“I never meant to disgrace you, Father… please forgive me!” I sobbed uncontrollably. My pleas seemed to have no effect, as he was clearly done listening to my excuses and begging.
“You didn’t mean to disgrace me? That’s just an excuse for more of your reckless behavior, Astrid!” he spat, his words laden with contempt. “I am ashamed to call you my daughter!” He spat on the floor near where I was kneeling, his disdain evident.
Turning to leave the room, he was almost out the door when I couldn’t bear to let him go without another attempt to make amends. I sprang to my feet and rushed after him. Ignoring the pain, I embraced him from behind, my arms wrapping around him tightly, hoping to stop him from leaving.
“Please, Father! Please don’t be mad at me! Please…” I begged, my voice breaking with desperation. But my actions only seemed to inflame his anger further.
He turned abruptly and, thinking he might accept my apology, I was shocked when he pushed me away forcefully. I fell to the ground, the impact knocking the breath out of me.
“You don’t deserve any pity, Astrid! You’ve brought shame upon your father without a second thought!” He was about to strike me again when the door burst open, and my mother rushed in.
She quickly grasped his hand, trying to prevent him from hitting me. “She’s your daughter, Alpha Safiya… please don’t do this! There must be another way to punish her!” My mother’s voice was desperate as she pleaded on my behalf. I remained kneeling on the floor, my head bowed, trying to remain out of sight.
“You’re right,” my father said suddenly, surprising both me and my mother. His tone was ominous, and I felt a wave of fear wash over me.
“There is a better punishment, and I think I’m going to administer it right now.” My heart sank as I lifted my head to look at him. His expression was grim, and I could sense something dreadful was about to happen.
“I HEREBY BANISH YOU, ASTRID SAFIYA, FROM THE GREYSTONE PACK!!!!!” His declaration was a thunderclap that left me reeling. The pain of his words was worse than any physical punishment I had ever received.
“What?” My voice trembled with shock and disbelief. “No, Father, please!”
“You cease to be the Alpha’s daughter, Astrid! Guards!” he bellowed. Instantly, the door swung open, revealing several men standing at attention behind him.
“Seize her and throw her out! The Alpha’s decree stands!” he commanded, turning his back on me. The guards moved swiftly, grabbing me and dragging me toward the exit. My mother continued to beg, but her pleas went unheard.
“No! Noooo!!!” I cried out, my heart breaking as I was forcibly removed from the pack. The gates of the Greystone Pack slammed shut behind me, and I could do nothing but watch in despair as I was pushed beyond the boundaries.
My father’s rejection and the loss of my family left me shattered. “Please let me in… please let me…” I continued to cry and bang on the door, but my pleas fell on deaf ears.
Just as I was about to lose hope, a hand covered my nose from behind with a white handkerchief. I struggled to free myself, but the strength of the stranger holding me was overpowering. My vision blurred, and darkness began to close in as I lost consciousness.
“Father… please,” I whispered faintly before everything went black.
*Redmoon Pack*
When I regained consciousness, I found myself in an unfamiliar place. The environment was stark and cold, adding to my confusion and fear. I sat up on the ground, my heart racing as I scanned the surroundings.
I was about to stand and flee when a deep, menacing voice halted me in my tracks. “Going somewhere?”
My eyes shot toward the source of the voice, and there, sitting on a throne-like chair, was none other than Alpha Dane of the Redmoon Pack. He was a figure of terror—an Alpha feared by nations and kingdoms alike, known for his ruthless and unyielding nature.
He rose from his seat and began to walk toward me. Each step he took echoed through the room, amplifying my growing dread. When he reached me, he crouched down to my level, his gaze intense and unyielding. He grasped my chin firmly, turning my face to meet his piercing green eyes. His proximity sent shivers down my spine, and I felt a strange mix of fear and something else I couldn’t quite identify.
I had always despised Alpha Dane, viewing him as the embodiment of evil. Yet, his close presence stirred emotions I struggled to understand. I braced myself for the worst, expecting him to order my execution or some other grim fate. But instead, he made a statement that shocked me to my core.
“Found you, Mate!”
Astrid's POV“Found you, Mate!” he suddenly uttered with a mischievous sneer curling up on his lips, making me both stunned and shocked.“I... I don't get it. What do you mean?” I asked, stuttering, trying to understand and know what he meant by what he had just said to me.His hand pulled my chin closer to his face, and just then, he leaned in closer to my ear, cold shivers coursing through my nerves.“I own you now, Mate!” He pulled back slowly, and with his eyes locked on mine, he smiled before letting go of my chin and standing to his feet.At this point, I was more shocked than ever. Was the Moon Goddess just playing silly tricks on me, or was she trying to make me realize that I didn't have a choice to make?Last I checked, I hated Alpha Dane so much—I disliked every single thing about him—and here I was, realizing that I was being mated to the ruthless Alpha of the Redmoon Pack.“No! That can't be possible! I reject your bond! I can't be your mate!” I stood to my feet, assertin
Astrid's POV.**3 Days Later**It was the mating ceremony of the Greenstone Pack, marking a new bond between Alpha Halfdan and my cousin Camilla.Alpha Dane, the Alpha of the Redmoon Pack, was certainly not going to miss it. I tried to stay back at the mansion, but he refused, dragging me out into the night for the ceremony. We arrived at the ceremony venue, and I was about to climb out of the car when Alpha Dane's strong grip held my hand and stopped me in my tracks.I turned to look at him, and for a reason I wasn't sure of, I saw a tinge of concern etched across his face. I was going to pull my hand out of his grip, but he tightened it even more.“No matter what, Princess... Never leave my sight. Is that clear?” he commanded, his words sending cold shivers down my spine as I wasn’t expecting him to say such things to me.He let go of my hand before turning his gaze away and climbing out of the car. He walked over to where my door was and opened it.“Is that clear?” he asked once mo
Astrid's POV.“No one dares lay a finger on my mate! Let her go now!!” a deep voice suddenly growled from behind, making me jolt for a split second. The moment I turned around, I saw that it was Alpha Dane, who walked swiftly to where I was standing with Camilla still holding my hand tightly without letting go.As he got closer, he grabbed my hand and pulled it out of Camilla's grip.“Mind what you do to her from now on!” Alpha Dane warned as he rolled his eyes. I stared at him without looking away, not expecting him to act this way if he saw me in danger. He helped me, which was both stunning and confusing. I was still caught up, wondering why he had helped me when Camilla's voice broke through my thoughts.“She caused everything that's happening to her!”“I don't care what she did, Camilla... just stay away from her!” he commanded as he turned on his heels. He was going to yank me out of sight, but Camilla wouldn’t take a chill pill. She wanted to see me suffer.“I know you are with
Astrid's POV. “What are you doing?” I stuttered with fear. My eyes bulged out at this moment. I wished to run away, but Alpha Dane held me glued to the ground. He was set; he was poised to rip my throat off. Just as he swung his claws to kill me at the spot, he unexpectedly halted, and I couldn't help but notice the innocence in his eyes. “Alpha Dane…” I fought to utter as I kept panting, trying to catch my breath at this point. His eyes were buried deep into mine, and from how I kept looking at him, he definitely wasn't going to take his eyes away from mine. Just as he kept staring at me, I noticed his eyes becoming heavy, and out of the blue, he fell to the ground and shifted back to his human form. “Are you okay?” Beta Ivar approached me swiftly as he inquired.“What happened?” I asked, looking confused for a split second. I turned to look at him, and that was when I noticed a syringe in his hand. It had purple substance all over it, and it made me wonder what it was. “Did
Dane's POV. “Alpha Dane!” The second I heard my name from behind, I turned swiftly to know who it was. Sighting the one person whom I wished to make mine, I didn't hesitate to charge towards her. Without looking back, I bounced on her, and although it made her scared, the monster that had taken over me didn't care, not even for a split second. I wished to control myself, but it was impossible to do so. I was trapped inside this monster, and I was going to be blamed or accused for killing my mate after years of searching or trying to find her. Just as my claws were raised to the air, prepared to slit her throat, I suddenly froze at the sight of her blue, vibrant, glowing eyes. “This is strange.” I said inwardly as I kept staring at her. It was as though her eyes had a command; it was as though they were meant just for me.They suddenly made me pause in my tracks; they made me feel calm, and I wasn't sure why. Just as I kept staring into her eyes, I felt a sharp sting hit me from
Dane's POV. “Alpha Dane, we...” Beta Ivar, who had sprinted up to me the second I left Astrid's room, spoke up, but before he could finish his words, I cut in, halting his statement to me instantly. “Why did you tell the enemy about my curse? Why?” I fumed as I asked him with a deep voice, my eyes piercing through his as I awaited his response. From how he kept acting, there was no doubt that he was scared of me, and there was no doubt that he never expected such questions from me. "Alpha, I...” he stuttered before pursuing his lips, obviously not sure about what he was going to say to me. Well, he better retains a good explanation. Cursed by my father, I swore never to show it or reveal it. The plan was to conceal it till the end, till it was broken, but as it stands, Astrid, my enemy Mate, knew about it, and believe me when I say I'm convinced it wasn't protected anymore. With time, everyone will know about it because she loathed me. “Speak up this minute, Ivar! Why were you
Dane's POV. “You are beginning to love her, Alpha Dane.” Ivar uttered, making me freeze in place for a split second. There was no way I was falling in love with my enemy. Just as I kept struggling to get my thoughts together, I recalled the moment I had woken up from my slumber, how I had reached for her hair, and the way my heart raced just by that simple act. How I was immediately attracted to her, how I wished never to watch her wake up and rise from my body. It all came back to me, but that doesn't mean I would accept such a fact. “No! Never! There's no way I'm falling for the enemy! Astrid is the enemy, and no matter what happens, falling in love with her isn't the plan.” I asserted, running my fingers through my hair. It would be a disaster to fall in love with Astrid. “It's not going to be a bad idea, Dane... The moon goddess has given you your mate, and it's left for you to…”Beta Ivar was immediately cut short by me. “It's left for me to use her however I want!” I declar
Dane's POV. “She is being tagged as a threat to the Greenstone pack, and she must go on her knees to beg Camilla!” Edmond declared with an audible voice, provoking me the more. “You want my mate, your Luna to...” I was going to say, but almost immediately, he cut in, making me stunned for a split second. “Oh no, Alpha Dane... She isn't my Luna yet; she isn't our Luna yet, not until she goes to make things right! We wouldn't want to fail the trust of Alpha Halfdan, and I'm pretty sure you are aware of it.” He stated, my eyes were becoming vicious as I gazed around the room. No one was speaking; no one was saying anything to him or trying to correct him. He had paid off each of them, and it made it difficult for any of them to stand up against him and oppose him. “Well, Edmond…” I stood to my feet, and with slow but deliberate strides, I walked over to where he was seated. Maliciously, I sat down on the table, making me stay pretty close before him with a smirk curling up across m
