MARK'S POV:

The next morning, as I entered the office, I noticed Jennie already at her desk, surrounded by a chaotic array of papers. Her weary eyes revealed the toll of a sleepless night.

"Any progress?" I inquired, eager for a glimmer of hope.

Jennie shook her head slowly, her brow furrowed with concern. "Not yet. But I did find something odd in the financial records. There's a trail of recurring transfers to a shell company that doesn't seem to have any legitimate existence."

"Do you think that could be the missing link?" I asked, feeling my mind racing with possibilities.

"It's possible," Jennie replied thoughtfully. "But we can't jump to conclusions. We need concrete evidence to connect the dots.”
