THE REJECTION

Nora's POV

"I, Alpha Gavner Wolfgrimm of the Midnight Prowlers Pack, reject you filthy disgust, Lenora Silverberg, as my mate at this instant." Alpha Gavner snarled with disgust as each word pierced through my heart, and I laughed bitterly at myself.

"You are not fit... to be my Luna," Alpha Gavner growled as I flinched back, trying to grasp a chair.

"You know you can't do this to me, right? I am a blessing given to you by the moon goddess; I was chosen by her, fate.." I said, tucking some strands of hair behind my ear.

I looked up at him, looking deep into his emerald eyes as he quickly looked away.

"I have every right to reject you; you are a filthy rag!" Alpha Gavner said bitterly.

Somehow I knew he didn't want to reject me; the spark I saw in his eyes showed his desire for me.

"Lenora Silverberg, I demand you leave my sight this instant," Gavner said lastly, as I turned around to face the door and walked towards the exit.

Out of his sight.

Out of his life.

My name is Lenora, but everyone calls me Nora. I am in this situation because the moon goddess chose me for Alpha Gavner, and he rejected me.

Specifically, I am a hybrid, a werewolf, and a vampire.

Nobody knows this yet, but it baffles me how Horace knew or did he not know. I just wanted to run away from this pack because he was going to come back for me.

Starting from the moment I got rejected, I knew my life was going to be a mess.

"To kill me," I said to myself.

I lived with my mother all my life, as I had no idea who my father was. My mother is a werewolf, and my dad is a hybrid—a vampire with werewolf blood.

My father was executed by the covens for mating my mother, just like his parents were banished for giving birth to him as a hybrid.

When I was born, I was ordered dead, but my mother wrapped me in her maternity gown and fled the pack for both of our safety.

I grew up in Washington, DC; we stayed in the Midnight Prowlers Pack for safety, and I went to school in a werewolf school as my mother continued to hide my identity.

It was also a good thing because the other werewolves had no idea I was a hybrid. Vampires in werewolf form were hated to the peak, especially when they didn't come out.

All my life, I have never seen how a mate is chosen, so when I heard that the Alpha Horace needed a mate, I decided to see how things would go, not knowing the moon goddess had decided to play a harsh game on me.

Even though I wasn't ready to be a mate, I was mated to the Alpha Gavner, and he rejected me openly.

The more I held back the tears in my eyes, the more I felt like a knife was continuously stabbed at my chest.

I cursed.

As I staggered through the forest, cutting through the big tiled road as the street lights cast an indigo reflection on me, I wondered if my mom was already aware of the situation at hand.

I walked into the house, switched the lights on, and saw my mom standing by the window.

It seemed like she had been waiting for me to return.

"Why did you go there?"

I heard her ask as she turned around and faced me.

I swallowed a lump of saliva as I pulled off my hoodie, throwing it on the floor beside me.

"Mum... I am sorry; I didn't intend on this happening." I apologized as I walked closer to her and held her hands.

She was all I had in this world.

"It just happened, I got rejected." I let out a growl as my mom made me sit on the couch.

"Nora, you need to relax; this is not the time to let out your wolf."

"I know, mom, but I can't control it anymore... It's overwhelming"

"Nora, you can."

"I am just scared; Alpha Gavner somehow knows that I am a hybrid; that was why he rejected me."

"Are you scared that he will come back for me?"

"Nora, we are leaving this pack... I can't afford to lose you the same way I lost your father," my mother said as she heaved a deep breath and raised her index finger to her eyes to wipe out the tears.

"How did this happen? Why did the moon goddess choose you?" My mom asked curiously.

"For all I know, Nora, you were chosen for a reason, but then your life's at risk."

"We are leaving first thing in the morning."

Finally, I heard her say it: "Leaving," but I wasn't satisfied.

"Mom, we have to leave now."

"Tomorrow might be too late... and the night is long."

"Nora, you should..."

My mom was still on it when I rushed into my bedroom, picked up a bag, and put some clothes in it.

"What if he rejected you for other reasons and not because of who you are?"

"If he knew who you were, Nora, you wouldn't be here. Rather, you'd be inside that filthy dungeon."

I paused and stared at her. She was right, but then, Gavner was not a man to joke around with; he was known to be a rude and hot-blooded wolf.

I am not the first mate he rejected, and those he rejected were either locked up for the rest of their lives or sold out as sex slaves.

But then,

"Mum, have you ever been in the dungeon...?" I asked.

"That's a question for another day."

I quickly grabbed my car keys, held her hand, and led her out of the house.

A strong gust of wind was unleashed on us as my wolf whined. I didn't understand the werewolf and vampire feelings fully because I hadn't gotten a hold of them, though they were still in my blood.
