It was evening already and I could hear the crickets and all other tiny creatures whose sound were loud enough to hear.

“So, Melissa, what was with the cold formality you gave Mr. Stefan? Did something happen between you two?” Layla asked, out of curiosity.

I sighed. “There is absolutely nothing wrong. I am doing just the right thing.”

“Yeah, you are. Except for the fact that you are being cold.” Layla rolled her eyes.

“Don’t try to make me feel like I am the bad man, here.” I said, sharply.

“Well, you are. He has been a nice boss to you. Saved you from possible death and helped you many times. You even modelled for a great company. All these were possible, because of him.”

“And I never begged him to do that, Layla. I want to earn my recognition and my money, because of my hard work and talent. Not because there is someone influencing that to come my way. I want to stop owing him favors, okay!”
