AUTHOR’S POV

“You're grumpier today.” Elixir strolled in with a giant smile on his face.

Kaiden’s scowl deepened, “What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be patrolling the Northern border?”

Elixir chuckled, “Today is my off day. Baron is in charge, and my mate has tasked me to check on you. You were out of it during the council meeting.”

“Tell Sarai that I'm fine. You both don't have to be worried about me.” Kaiden scribbled more signatures on the pack of papers on his table.

“If this was before she came, I'd have agreed but no, she's here. That's even more reason to be worried about you. Is she the reason behind the scowl on your face?” Elixir asked, perching himself against the table, one leg crossed over the other and his arms folded as he stared at the door, his back turned to Kaiden.

King Kaiden glanced up through his glasses and sighed, “I think I'm being creepy.”

“You think or she thinks you're creepy?” Elixir asked.

“She thinks so,” Kaiden replied, pulling off his glasse
