"Hey," I greeted back, putting a hand behind my neck while staring at him.
The feature that stood out to him the most was his radiant, emerald eyes and the specks of prominent freckles laying on the bridge of his nose. He had messy ginger hair and a smile that made the corner of his lips crinkle.
"Are you new here?" he asked, his British accent was thick.
"Yeah," I simply answered as he nodded in response. Ms. Sullivan's attention was focused on what she was scribbling on the board while the students behind her began to mumble. "What's your name?" I asked, a bit fascinated by him.
"Nicholas. And you?" He raised his brows and placed a textbook on his desk.
"Kourtney Devaraux," I responded, feeling the need to state my surname.
"I think I must've heard about you. But I'm not quite sure."
"You heard about me from where?" I asked.
"News spread
Having to eat breakfast with my parents was a rare thing to happen. It felt odd, given the fact that I barely see them around in the morning. I was used to waking up with them not being around and, suddenly, sitting in front of them was unsettling.I held the spoon tight in my hand and dug it to my oatmeal. I bowed my head, not bothering to peer at them through my lashes."How's school?" Dad asked, as I almost jerked by his sudden budge.Gulping, I sat upright and reached for the glass of water. I drank it down my throat, as I stared at Lindsey who was now ready to boast."I made quite a good impression," she said, plastering a grin.I snickered, hiding my face away so my parents wouldn't notice. Lightly shaking my head, I leaned my back against the chair and cleared my throat."How about you, Kourtney?" Mom asked as she looked at me expectantly."Same as
I couldn't believe her. That fucking bitch always ruined everything for me, what else did she want? I just wanted to strangle her right now. My anger towards her was becoming worse every time, and I was starting to think she wasn't my sister anymore. My nose was flaring, and my teeth were baring from the emotion heightening me. It was beyond infuriating, and she was becoming less human at this point. She was the cause of these uncontrollable thuds in my chest and unbearable anger. I didn't know what to do with Lindsey. I didn't even know what was she trying to achieve by this. That fucking snake."Excuse me," I mumbled, turning on my heels and squeezing through the crowd.Bodies after bodies kept on colliding onto me as I continuously pushed them away. Once I reached the two massive doors, I swung them open and fastened my pace down the hall.It felt like my heart was going to fall out of my chest from ang
"What the hell does that even mean?" Emma furrowed her brows and tucked a carrot inside her mouth.New students were attracting attention and if we gathered together, then the spotlight was on us and Lindsey would be infuriated. Spotlight meant a lot to me, as much as it was for her. And she would do anything to be in that position because she wanted people to feed her ego. I wasn't going to let her have it. Not when all my parents' eyes only focused on her."You want friendship and alliance with me?" Amanda pointed a finger at herself."Absolutely."Emma shifted from her seat, leaning closer to me and whispered, "Are you serious?""I'm dead serious," I responded before facing Amanda. "Look, I know you're probably thinking what I need from you. It's pretty simple. You tell me all the snide remarks my sister blurted behind my back and that's it.""Are you that desperate and
It was already Wednesday and I was sitting on the chair, surrounded by lockers and girls who wore tight, white tees and black shorts. Bending down, I reached for my foot and tied the lace of my shoes. The sweet scent of cologne filled the girl's locker room, as their enthusiastic giggles and absurd gossiping resounded the vicinity.Sitting upright, my eyes flicked to the side when I noticed someone settled beside me. It was Amanda. Her brown hair was tied to a high-ponytail as it swept to the side when she tilted her head to face me. I raised my brows in confusion, as I examined the people around me."Why are you here?" I asked."I'm joining you," she answered with a shrug."I can tell.""It's my first time training as a cheerleader, by the way.""It's okay. Everyone went to that phase."I stood up, approaching the locker in front of me and grabbed my purs
It was already eight at night and I decided to go to Dad's office to tell him about the mishap in me joining the volleyball team. My heart was thumping fast, and I was biting my bottom lip because of nervousness. I didn't know how he was going to react, but nevertheless, I felt the need to tell him.I knocked on his office door, and when I heard him said "come in", I twisted the knob and entered his office. Closing the door behind me, I moved closer to Dad and settled on the seat in front of him. He was holding a pen, writing down on the paper while his attention was focused on it. He seemed to not mind my presence; he didn't stare at me, he just glanced. After I cleared my throat, I uttered, "Dad, I have to tell you something.""What is it?" he asked."I was—" I fumbled over my words, unsure of how I would say it, "I wasn't accepted in the volleyball team because the slots are already filled up." I
The day after tomorrow, I was strolling down the hallway with Amanda and Emma on both of my sides. They were babbling about their experiences in Kingsley so far while I kept quiet, planning my next move to get ahead of Lindsey. The atmosphere at our house wasn't really great. I could feel the coldness of Mom and Dad towards me and the way they were giving Lindsey all their attention as if to make me realize what I was missing after disappointing them. I was certain Lindsey fed some lies to them so she would look like this angel when she was worse than Satan himself.I wasn't even sure if I should be staying in a toxic environment at home. It was making me detest my existence. Just by thinking about what was going on with my parents and me right now bothered me.I felt a hand suddenly grabbed my forearm as I drifted from my thoughts. Looking at Emma who was now staring at me, weirded out by my silence, I pulled my hand away
"Where's Amanda?" I asked Emma as she joined me while I walked outside the school."She left early. She said it's urgent," she answered and I nodded in response."I'm going on a date today," I budged, causing Emma to stare at me with a huge smile on her face."Wait, with who?" Her tone was filled with enthusiasm."Mason.""As in Mason Walker? Captain of the football team?""Yup," I said, sounding apathetic."I don't see you laid eyes on him.""I'm gonna try. He seems like a good guy.""You're not using him to get over Liam, are you?""No, Emma. Why would you think that?" I gave her a scowl, quite teed off at the mention of his name.Liam was already fine, and I guess it was also the perfect time for me to get over what happened between us. I wasn't trying to forget about him either; he bec
She was the purest kid I had ever encountered, and her little giggles were like a melody in my ears. Children rarely approached me, never had this moment ever struck my mind. And I was caught off guard when she suddenly appeared. It made me feel special. But nevertheless, this was the most adorable thing. When I was about to lift the toddler up, I woman called from behind, shaking me out of my thoughts."Dorris," she called, worry filled her tone. She immediately went beside us, and I flitted my eyes up before I stood. The woman, who I think was the mother, lifted the toddler up and embraced her tight. Her gaze landed to me, plastering a look of appreciation as her eyes glimmered."Your daughter is the most adorable kid I've ever met," I complimented, a huge grin crept across my face."Thank you so much. She's randomly talking to strangers and I'm glad she's not hurt." She rocked the toddl
A/NThis is a bonus chapter for “Queen Of Ace” and probably the last part of this novel. Since I wanted to write a chapter related to Christmas, I came up with an idea to write a Christmas-themed chapter as the very ending. This is still related on Queen Of Ace and the characters are still the same.
The second semester had already started and all of the students were now crowding the hallway. We had taken a long break from all the crazy things that happened during the first semester. The dramas diminished, people left, new students entered the school, and hopefully, new beginning. This was the start of something new, something ecstatic and something that would fill everyone with anticipation. I was ready for this day like I was before, and this time, we came back to not start drama, but to fix all the things that should be resolved before we’d taken a break.
We all headed in our lockers to shower and change our own clothes to wash off the sweats in our body. As we left the field, almost everyone greeted me congratulations and I felt overwhelmed by the attention that I was getting. Right after Mason asked me to be his girlfriend, I didn’t feel like hesitating, not because of the pressure the attention I was getting dawned on me, but the fact that I wanted Mason to be mine. I took back what I said before that I wouldn’t look at him the same way as I looked at Liam. I took back what I said that we would just remain friends. I took back what I said at the moment when I was still in a relationship with someone else. I took back everything and it was relieving. I got to express my feeling and I didn’t hold back with having the new beginning that I had been longing. I knew Mason was the one for
It was already the most anticipated day of all the students in Kingsley: the football rematch. We had been training for this the whole day and I couldn’t wait to perform our chants in front of everyone. We were inside of the girl’s locker room, changing to our cheerleader outfit, applying makeup on our face, and tied a ribbon around our high ponytail. Black and white had been the theme color of the Panthers and we decided to change our outfit and gone a little creative so we would stand out. We added some flitters to our uniform and tassels around our skirts to make a beautiful effect when we would perform our cheers. I also told everyone to put a touch of glitter in their makeup so we would be dazzling throughout the game.
My body still hurt from what happened between me and Mason yesterday in their house. And going to school with a body ache, the Aspirin doing nothing to calm the pain in my body, I had almost regretted the temporary bliss I felt that day. I could hardly concentrate during the exam and my body wouldn’t cooperate during the training. I could barely do a proper stunt and Coach Adriana felt a little worried that I might fail to do the stunt tomorrow when the football game started. We all had been anticipating the special day and I assured Coach Adriana that I would be executing the stunt flawlessly when the football game started. We’d finished all the examinations needed and we proceeded to our training. We had a few dry runs of our new chants and choreography, but through those runs, we barely had mistakes which was a good sign. This just meant
Warning: This chapter contains an explicit sex scene.~*~I had anticipated Danny’s retaliation once he saw Nicholas and that shouldn’t be a surprise. But the fact that it was the first time that I’d seen Danny beyond ma
The cheer leaders threw their majorette batons as the others held their pompoms high in the air. They all moved around to the final position as I did my stunt in front once they all froze. I some cartwheels and backflip in the end as what I always did in our routine as Coach Adriana blew her whistle to indicate the end of the training. Once the whistle rang in our ears, we all took a deep breath and dispersed through the field. Plopping myself on the ground, I brought my knees in front of my chest and placed my elbows on my knees. My sweats trickled down to both my forehead and temples as the heat gushed through my body from releasing too much energy. I looked down on the ground, letting the sweat fall on the green grass below me. And when the crisp wind swept against my skin, the heat started to diminish.
We spent half of the day training and the rest of my time was spent with half of the periods after the first ones that I missed. They announced the examination and some of the subjects would be starting tomorrow. They also told us that we would be finishing the examinations before the football game started because they wanted us to enjoy the weekends without worrying about the result of our grades.I was heading
The only reason I knew why Sir Richards would get suspended was the fact that I Lindsey had given him a blowjob last time which was out of character. But I highly doubt the school would know about it unless either Caley and I spoke up. We were the only ones who knew about it and we didn’t really plan on sharing it in the whole school. I just used this information to threaten Lindsey so she would stop getting in my way.“So does that mean we wouldn’t be having Psychology class?” Emma asked with a smile on her face.
