Aakifahlynn sighed and continued her inspection.

The beautiful furniture is royal, rich purple with intricate gold highlights.

The luxurious couch set to her right was purple with gold trimming and feet, paired with a gold iron frame and glass at the top center table, with a mini bar area, a small fridge, and bar stools to finish the look.

It did not go unnoticed to Aakifahlynn that she was in a room decorated in her favorite color, royal purple.

Her searching, curious eyes slid past that and saw that there were double doors she assumed to be the exit. Straight ahead of her across the room was another double door, which Aakifahlynn thought was the closet because she believed the single left door was the toilet.

Before that, a table with chairs, purple seating, a small desk with books and parchments scattered about, and an office chair were partitioned. The walls were painted in a warm lilac-colored pallet with gold moldings.

The ceiling was the same lilac, and the two gold and purpl

As such, Emperor Demarion Dracul was prepared with the facts. He strolled over to a small table in the room they were all in, took up a few parchments of paper, and gestured it toward Aakifahlynn, his eyes never leaving her.'Why was Jairus so eager to find me?' This was a surprise to Aakifahlynn. She was in her thoughts.Aakifahlynn absentmindedly walked towards him, her blue eyes never leaving his. She now focused on him and looked for any sight of dishonesty, but she found none. Nonetheless, what she knew about the Ayacqueans outweighed her judgment.Too much was going on, so she must proceed cautiously and be suspicious, keeping her guard up until the end, and victory was hers or proven otherwise.Taking the small stack from Emperor Dracul's hand, Aakifahlynn's eyes widened at what she held: a sketch of her, offering five thousand gold coins, which is five hundred thousand dollars, to anyone with information about her, leading to her safe return. Her already widened eyes widened

"Oh, this is a surprise. I was expecting somewhere less..." Aakifahlynn gestured to her surroundings."Lavish." Emperor Dracul finished for her, his hands behind his back."Yes, I mean, I held out hope you were not taking me to the dungeons, but this?" Her hands rose and fell back onto her lap as she gestured to the room and environment. At her words, The Emperor hid his look as if she'd slapped him in his face. He would never dream of letting her stay in the dungeons.Emperor Demarion Dracul knew he had to tread carefully with how much he disclosed and how soon. And he would continue to hold out despite his advisor and second-in-command's warnings...But the bottom line is he would never let her stay anywhere less than his palace. "The Emperor had spoken. You and your family are safe and welcome here as long as needed."Aakifahlynn blinked, then blinked again, "I must thank the Emperor. When can I meet him?" Demarion was taken aback for a moment. "Just say my name if you need me." Emperor Dracul added and disappeared from the room in a flash before Aakifahlynn could digest what he said.'Say his name? Was that all she had to do to get his attention? She would surely put it to the test, but right now, Aakifahlynn needed a moment with her parents. As they chatted the night away, Aakifahlynn allowed her mind to relax and be at ease in the presence of her parents. Her entire body was cozy, for that matter. She shut out the questions she still had about the Emperor that were scorching her mind for now...Aakifahlynn had walked across the room and finally gotten a look at her disheveled self, and she was an eye sore. Her hair was a frazzled mess, wrapped haphazardly in a messy one. Dark circles were prominent around her eyes, as if she were sleep-deprived.Even though she'd been out for two days. Her lips were so dry that they looked cracked. Her cheeks seemed somewhat sunken slightly. 'Was that caused by her rejecting her mate and

Aakifahlynn felt like the sooner she learned about where was off-limits, the sooner she could visit the Emperor herself to relay her gratitude and pursuits. She flipped the covers off her, determination guiding her. After her delightful time with her parents, Aakifahlynn had Demarion escort her back to her room. Now, she was confident she could find her way to and from her room and her parents.Aakifahlynn strolled to the bathroom and stared at herself in the mirror. She soon realized that not only did she feel like herself, but Aakifahlynn looked like herself. Her cheeks weren't sunken, the dark circles were gone, and that hint of color was back. Honestly, Aakifahlynn would like to believe that this was the opportunity she'd been hoping for, that they intended to storm the castle gates.'Who else was planning a war? Or had the means to get them into somewhere?' Aakifahlynn wonders as she recalls the hushed murmurs.Surely, they were talking about her unless someone here was planning their own war that they needed to assist with. Nevertheless, these were the Ayacqueans, and they were schemers at every turn. One never knows when they are sincere.Or worse yet, are they ever sincere in anything they do? Or is everything always calculated? As far as Aakifahlynn was concerned, this could be another elaborate scheme. She heard about their elaborate schemes and trickery, really going the distance in their folly, creating that illusion they want you to see and believe.Anyways, if she could not get to the Emperor directly and had to settle for discussing terms with Demarion, then she would, and only till then would she rest easy.Only

Aakifahlynn found her way down the stairs as she believed there was nothing to see upstairs except for more bedrooms and maybe studies. As her feet hit the last step, she had her first encounter. A gorgeous black-haired beauty with beautiful hazel-gray eyes opened the front door a few meters to Aakifahlynn's left and strolled in.Closing the door behind her, she ruffled her long, luscious, wavy, black hair, then ran her fingers through it and rattled it again, "Oh, Hi, I did not see you there. How are you? Did you sleep well?"The perfect woman spoke to Aakifahlynn so friendly that it would have been infectious if Aakifahlynn was not on a mission.Instead, Aakifahlynn narrowed her eyes at her, her features screaming, 'Lady, we aren't friends, and I do not know who you are. Keep your scheming smile at bay.'Aakifahlynn knew she was in the Ayacquean's territory and should act accordingly and try to be nice, but she was too suspicious of everything. And this perfection's behavior was jus

Aakifahlynn scoffed after a few seconds of no response from Demarion, and she did not take his silence lightly, "Come on... There is no way... so I would just sum it up as the Emperor is not ready to reveal his hand, and in that case, I would like to make some things clear and set some ground rules and get an agreement going." "I hate not knowing..." She said that last part more to herself, but Demarion heard her. Demarion hid his amused look. Oh, Aakifahlynn was so cute when she was so clueless. All she'd heard were rumors they had been spreading themselves, but he was not worried. One trip outdoors into his Gazini Empire, and she would see for herself how wrong her knowledge of them was. The Elite Stygian Market was different from what Aakifahlynn expected. It was utterly dissimilar from the one back home, that's for sure. This one was not a dark and scary alley. Though the one back home was not entirely dark, only the further on you got, the creepier things were. But this market was totally different. It was high-class throughout, not just at the beginning, and the farther in, the creepier it got. No. This is top-class. It is clean and holds a mixture of scents that are not stiflingly horrid. There are no hints of the stench of sewer and sweat, but there are signs of scrumptious sweet cakes and expensive fabric. This entire market is pristine. Beautiful stalls, pleasant people, oh, how the people were delightful and welcoming to her. Someone considered an outsider, not only an outsider but an enemy. Aakifahlynn assumes that because they saw the Ayacqueans as enemies because of their defiance of the throne, they also considered her an enemy. But no, she was

Aakifahlynn stirred awake, taking a few seconds to get caught up. She was resting but had no recollection of getting to her room, let alone her bed.She surmised Demarion, the disgraced Emperor who had brought her here after the hospital. Gosh, the hospital, Aakifahlynn, hoped everyone had fully recovered. She stretched and sat up, wondering what time of day it was and how long she had been out. Her pretty blue eyes slid to the large clock on the wall.Long and short, hands were on twelve, and by the light shining in from outside, Aakifahlynn knew it had to be 12 noon. She sighed. A day had passed, and she knew it. Aakifahlynn recalled it being midday when she was at the hospital. First, on the agenda, Aakifahlynn visited Pauline, and Pauline accompanied her to the hospital, which was almost overflowing with people suffering from the same ailment as Pauline's daughter. This hospital was more significant than the one in the Kingdom of Tamman. Aakifahlynn walked side by side with Pauline as she observed her surroundings. It was her first time here, and she still compared the Empire to the Kingdom. Little did Aakifahlynn know that this was not her first time here. Maybe in this timeline, it is her first time…The hospital smelt of bleach and some other types of robust chemicals. Aakifahlynn saw medical equipment and instruments in the Gazini Empire that they did not have in the Kingdom of Tamman either, and here she thought the crown had the latest and best in everything. It is a vast building with three floors, beds running the length of opposite walls, and no privacy. The second floor housed rooms where they perform surgeries; the third was for children.Upon e

Suddenly, the clouds grumbled in anger. Darkness filled the atmosphere. Demarion had swooped in, ripped the Duke away from Aakifahlynn, and pelted him across the lot. He then disappeared and reappeared in front of the Duke across the lot, picked him up, and held him steady. At the same time, he shoved his sharp, elongated, claw-like hands into the Duke's chest and tore out his heart.Demarion moved with the speed of lightning; he did all this before Aakifahlynn could utter her next line of seduction or make another sound of pleasure or before the Duke could even process what was happening.Demarion squeezed the Duke's heart and crushed it; only tissue and clumps of clot-like blood caressed the dirt floor.Demarion was not about to watch her flirt and seduce this man. Aakifahlynn ordered a drink and looked around. The place was at its usual pace. A few businessmen were here and there, and a few couples were having dinner. A band playing music to the left. The waiter returned with her scotch on the rocks. Aakifahlynn thanked him and continued her assessment of the Tavern. The decor was one of class and an ambiance of romance. An establishment like this is frequented by those considered high society citizens. Aakifahlynn soon realized the waiter was still staring at her, "Is something the matter?"Now that he had been caught staring, the now uncomfortable waiter said very awkwardly, "Please, forgive me, my lady...it's just that you are so beautiful."She was dressed as Adeline, but this was not the shy and meek Adeline. This Adeline also allowed herself to take a page from Taisiya's looks for the occasion of seduction before revenge or murder. Of course, she would accompany her to the hospital.Pauline had told Aakifahlynn that Paula was not the only case, and Aakifahlynn decided then and there to find a way to help the Empire—only in an attempt to even the offer.Aakifahlynn was no fool; she knew what was promised was too good to be true, primarily because of what they wanted in return.Although she had accepted, that did not mean she was happy about feeling indebted to these people."Thank you, Pauline. While Aakifahlynn settled in comfortably, her mind trickled to Jairus, and she debated again: Why did this happen? Why did he treat her this badly when he was made to love her? What did she do that deserved this? How could someone be so cruel and evil? Wicked even.Aakifahlynn knew she was not perfect. She'd done things in the name of protecting her Kingdom, but what happened to her in her past timeline was unjust.Aakifahlynn remembered begging Jairus to let her leave as she was unfit and unworthy of leading; she could no longer be helpful in the way she wanted to be and would only bring him down with her."The people need a strong leader, my love," she had urged. "You can't afford to have them see you as the weak Alpha King." Aakifahlynn pleaded."My name is feared in all the lands."
