The door to the bathroom pulls open revealing a young handsome man as he walks in elegantly. Standing in front of the mirror and staring at his perfect reflection in the mirror, the corner of his lips curves into a smile, revealing his one-sided dimple.
Running his fingers through his raven hair as he throws his head back, his broad chest widens as his perfectly toned abs tug up, revealing his six packs which are perfectly built. The sound of his ringing phone pulls his attention, and he rolls his eyes as he walks over to the bed where his phone is laying helplessly. Seeing the caller ID, he sighs briefly knowing that he's in for some frustration this morning. It's his mom. "Hey, mom," He says as soon as he answers the call. "Where did you keep your phone, son? I have been calling you," She complains, and he checks the screen of his phone for any missed call, but there's none. "I'm sorry, mom. I was having my bath," he apologizes, even if he knows that this woman never called him. Letting her frustrate him this early morning is the last thing on his mind. "Have you called Emily? I told you to call her. She's coming to Oklahoma soon, you should bond with her over the phone before she comes over to...""I will do that later, mom," He cuts her off, even if he knows that nothing can ever make him do that. He's a grown man, so why the hell would his mom insists that he be with someone he doesn't even know, just because she wants him to? Well, his mom has been forcing him to talk with some lady over the phone after showing him a couple of pictures of her, and he has been stuck with her for a while now, although he's still looking for a way to sort things out. "That's my son. I will be back soon, you should take good care of your dad, OK?" He nods his head to her words, even if she's not seeing him. All he wants is for her to end the call, so he can finally go to work. "Hmm... I'll do that, mom," He says to her. "I got to go now. I love you," She says from the other end. "I love you too, mom," He says and the call finally drops dead, forcing a sigh of relief off his throat. My name is Jayden Turner, twenty-nine years old heir to the Turner's family, and the new CEO of Turner's enterprise, since his dad, the former CEO just resigned, the company was willed to him. Being the only child of his extroverted business-minded, classy mom, and his introverted wealthy dad, Jayden has many responsibilities to take on, of which one of them is to make sure that his parents are happy. Since his dad has aged so fast, his mom has been the only one doing the business and traveling when necessary. This is how they have lived their lives all these years. Stepping out of his room, he walks down the spacious hallway. Descending the grand staircase a few minutes later, he meets his dad in the living room, watching the morning news as always. It has just been two weeks since Jayden arrived in Oklahoma, and one thing he has come to know about this man is his love for news. "Good morning, dad," He smiles heartily at the old man, getting his attention. "Good morning, son. Did you sleep well?" He returns the smile as he glances at him, and takes his attention back to the TV almost immediately. "Yes, dad. I'm off to the company," Adjusting his tie with his left hand, he says o him. "I thought you aren't going to resume today, it's already past 9am," Mr. Turner pulls a surprised look after he checks his wristwatch. "I had a hectic day yesterday, trying to set up some things, so I slept off quite late. See you later dad, I have to be on my way now," And with that, he strides to the door and exits the living room. He hops in his car when he arrives at the parking lot, and drives out of the compound. The drive to the company was quite stressful as he got stuck in a traffic jam for a few minutes, and as if that was not enough, a young lady messed his day up for him. She was so annoying and full of disrespect that he doesn't want to ever set his eyes on him, ever again. Arriving at the company a few minutes later, he hops out of his car and stares around the place which doesn't seem like it has changed a bit, even if it has been a while since he was last here. A middle-aged man of about forty-five to fifty years of age rushes toward me and takes my briefcase. "Good morning sir," A middle-aged man came rushing toward him and takes his briefcase. "Morning," He walks ahead of him to the entrance door and steps into the building afterward. The interior is still looking the same way that it was three years ago when he was last here. "This way, please," The man he still has no idea who he is, directs him to the elevator. A few minutes later, they both walk down the hallway that leads to God knows where, before they finally stop in front of a door, and the man pushes it open. Stepping into the spacious office, he nods my head in satisfaction. The interior design is really beautiful and eye-catching, whoever designed it must be a pro at this, he concludes. "Sir, the staff are all waiting for you to come to address them," the man's voice pulls him out of his train of thought, and he turns to face him. "Oh! Alright, I'll be there," He replies to him. "Alright, sir. I'll be right outside your door. Call me if you need anything," And with that, the man turns to go, but he calls him back. "Uhm... What's your name?" He asks him. "Liam Harper, Sir. I used to be your dad's secretary, but now your secretary," He replies to him, and he nods his head slowly. He can't help but wonder what made him think that he's going to continue to be his secretary that made him conclude that in such a hurry. "Oh, I see." This is crazy! The fact that he used to be his dad's secretary doesn't mean he must be his secretary, right? There's no way he was going to let an elderly man work as his secretary, right? Mr. Liam bows slightly before he turns around and strides out of his office, closing the door gently behind him. A few minutes later, he ambles out of his office, and as soon as he steps out, Liam quickly stands up from behind his desk. "Oh, you're here Sir. This way, please," Mr. Liam gestures toward the door after he pulls it open, and he walks out. Mr. Liam closes the door gently behind him, before leading him away. After a few minutes' walk, taking different routes, he finally pushes the door open, revealing the large office. The staffs quickly stand up and assemble as soon as he walks in, but his eyes are on Evelyn that's seated there without acknowledging his presence. He squints his eyebrows after he scrutinizes her with his eyes. She was the same lady that disrespected him on his way here. What's she doing here?Chapter 3The atmosphere suddenly tenses up, and whispers erupt in the office, and she sighs as she touches her forehead. What in the crazy world is going on right now? They're distracting her attention, and she may lose it anytime soon if they don't behave themselves. She raises her head to check out where exactly the sounds are coming from, but she shakes her head unbelievably when she sees her female colleagues adjusting their clothes. 'I hope they're not doing this because of the new so-called CEO. Oh, God! Can the time be fast-forwarded so I can leave this damn place and go home?' She mutters to herself, reclining on the chair. "Can you all please focus, huh? I'm doing some work here, and for the love of God, you're damn disturbing me," She slams her hands on the desk frustratingly, closing her eyes. Can this day be any good? First, it was that idiot from the traffic jam, and now her annoying colleagues wouldn't stop frustrating her. Today isn't a good day, honestly. Someone n
Chapter 4 Her blaring alarm jolts her out of her deep slumber, and she tosses on the bed angrily. She just slept off a few hours ago, how come it's morning already? Will she end up losing her mind? She groans tiredly as she forces herself to sit on the bed, running her fingers through her hair as she yawns tiredly. It's as if she has the whole world on her shoulders right now. She just needs some rest, but not when she has to be early to work. She doesn't want to lose her job, not because she won't get employed in other places, but just her love for Turner's enterprise. She has every means of getting a job anywhere, she just prefers to work there. 'You should work on your manners, Eve' Jayden's words echo in her head again, and she scoffs angrily. It has been two weeks since he said that to her, but until now, it is still so difficult to get it off her head. Isn't he a jerk for saying that to her? Pushing all the thoughts to the back of her mind, she drags myself out of the bed a
Chapter 5 "Are you not going to get the hell out of my way?" His voice disrupts her, and she flinches, realizing that she has been hallucinating. That was what she would've done to this bastard, but she doesn't want to lose her job, at least not now. It's not that she can't work somewhere else, but she so much loves this company, and wouldn't want to leave it. "I'm sorry, Sir," She bows her head slightly, walking away from him. He glares daggers at her, then rolls his eyes and strides into the elevator. Taking a deep breath, she closes her eyes and throws her head back trying to control her anger. Nobody would dare try that nonsense with her on normal days, so he should thank his luck that he's her boss, else, he would've had his ill manners to blame. Finally, she turns and walks away to her office, huffing almost every second. Her phone has been spoilt by that jerk, and as if it wasn't enough to get her angry, he went ahead to insult her. What kind of a man is he? "Jerk!" She sco
Chapter 6The corner of his lips twitches into a smirk as he watches her close her eyes. He can hear her heart beating rapidly, and he can't help but feel satisfied. Maybe bullying this mannerless annoying girl won't be a bad idea, right? "Wh...what are you doing?" She stutters nervously as she manages to turn her face away. Seeing her reaction, he scoffs unbelievably and shakes his head. What the hell is she thinking? That he's going to kiss her or something? That's too stupid to think of. There are girls more beautiful than her that are throwing themselves at him, and are at his call, he can get any girl he wants, but this one? Hell no! She's a big turn-off for him. "Am I really that annoying?" He whispers, tucking the strand of hair on her forehead, behind her ear, and she gulps down nothing as she feels her heart misses a beat. Slowly, his hand crawls its way to her plumpy lips, and he rubs his thumb on them for a few seconds, while having a smirk dancing at the corner of his lip
Chapter 7Eve POV My heart almost popped out of my chest. That guy is such a crazy nerve-wrecking fellow, he scared the guts out of me. For some seconds, I thought he was going to kiss me. He's going to kill me before my time in that company. He's so annoying. After getting some things at the mall with Marian, I drove her home, before finally going home. I've had a hectic day, and I just can't wait to get home and unite myself with my comforting bed. I feel like sleeping for five days straight. That's crazy, right? But that's how I feel. After driving for what seemed like forever, I finally drive into my compound, and park neatly at the parking lot, alighting from the car afterward. It's almost 8pm, all thanks to Marian we spent almost forever at the mall. She kept picking things and dropping them, and I couldn't have left her there to herself, right? We ended up spending over two hours, and now I have to battle tiredness. I stride to the entrance door and push the door open, not a
Chapter 8Eve POV The sound of my blaring alarm pulls me out of my deep slumber, and I groan tiredly, forcing my eyes open. It's still the middle of the night, but I have some work to take care of, that's why I'm waking up at this time. I yawn tiredly, swinging my legs down the bed, and getting on my feet afterward. With my eyes half-closed, I drag my feet sluggishly into the bathroom. I'm so exhausted, and as much as I need to get some sleep, this work is important for me to do over the night. Stepping out of the bathroom after I wash my face to get the sleep off my eyes, I walk over to my bed and throw my heavy weight on the edge, reaching out to my laptop afterward. I begin my work once it's on. After working on the laptop for what seemed like forever, I was about to turn it off, when a message from the company pops on the screen. I sigh briefly. Why would the company email message me at 1am? I mean, who the hell is controlling the messaging center? I open the mail reluctantly,
Chapter 9Eve's eyes almost pop out of their sockets as she tries to process what her friend just said. "Jayden!" She snorts quietly, clenching her fists as she feels anger building up in her. If it were to be someone else that she has to work with then she wouldn't have had any problem with that. But Jayden? He's the last person she wants to work with. She has a phobia for arrogant people, and she may end up losing her job after kicking his ass. Giving the lady a last glare, she finally turns around and storms out of the office, slamming the door behind her as if she wants to breathe it down. As she walks down the hallway, she can't help trying to control her anger. She finally stops in front of the door and takes a deep breath, before pushing it open and walking inside. Surprisingly, Mr. Liam is not sitting in his usual seat. Has he quit already? She takes another deep breath before placing a soft knock on the door of his office, and after a few minutes, his voice finally sounds
Chapter 10"I want to resign, She says to him after a long silence, and he raises his gaze to look at her, having an amused and less surprised expression on his face. Not that he didn't see this coming anyway, but there's no way he'll allow her to resign. At least not now. He hasn't frustrated her the way he wants to, so why should he free her? "What did you say?" He asks sarcastically as if he didn't hear her the first time. He just wants her to repeat that before he shocks her with the disappointment of her life. You aren't expecting him to let her resign, right? He started all these purposely, and finishing what he started is the only thing on his mind. "I said I want to resign! I'm sure you heard me when I said that. Do I need to spell it out to you, huh? I want to resign!" She finally loses it, slamming her hands on my desk. She has been trying so hard not to let her anger take over her, but she can't do this anymore. The only thing on her mind now is to piss him off and leave
Chapter 41"Happy birthday, sweetheart," Mr. Jones smiles at her widely, but she just stands frozen on the spot with a shocked expression on her face. A drop of tears slid down her cheeks as she stares at him with mixed feelings. She's mad at him for the ways he has been treating her, and also happy that he finally shows up to celebrate her birthday with her. She gulps down nothing and bites her bottom lip. "What is going on here?" She finally breaks the silence, her voice not sounding pleasing to the ear, which only expresses her anger. "Uhm... Eve, I invited your dad over to celebrate your birthday with you," Jayden explains, and she scoffs unbelievably. "Why?" This is the only question that escapes her lips as she turns to face Jayden, with anger written all over her face. "Wh... What do you mean?" Jayden stutters confusingly. "Why did you invite him? Did I ask you to?" She snaps at him angrily, after glancing at Mr. Jones. "Eve...""What right do you have to do this shit?
Chapter 40Three days later... The sound of the blaring alarm pulls Evelyn out of her deep slumber, and she tosses on the bed, before she forces her eyes open, staring up at the ceiling. Again, she has woken up to her miserable life. She took three days off from work, and she's resuming today. The past three days have been filled with her staying indoors and thinking about what happened. "You are a bastard, Raymond," She mutters under her breath, running her fingers through her hair after she sits up on the bed, a drop of tears sliding down the corner of her cheeks. It's not that she wants to think about him, she has only been trying to get him off her head, but the more she tries to, the more difficult it seems to be. "Don't think about him, Eve. Don't cry over him, because that bastard doesn't worth it," She says as she grabs the pillow, and throws it across the room, bursting into tears afterward. "It's fucking difficult to get over you. I thought you loved me. You fucking dec
Chapter 39She gulps down nothing as she stands up from the bed, trying to keep her sleepy eyes open. "Evelyn threw me out..." She mumbles under her breath, but still loud enough for him to hear her, and he can't help the scoff that tears through his lips. What the hell was she expecting? That Evelyn will still allow her to stay in that house after what happened? She must really be dumb. "And how's that got to do with you being in my house? Were you expecting her to still allow you to live under the same roof with her after what happened?" He snaps at her, and she bites her bottom lip. He's right, anyway. She was too foolish to have expected her to still let her stay there. "Look, I have nowhere else to go...""And how's that my business? Does it look like I give a damn about that? I'm yet to clear the mess you caused, and you want to get me into more trouble?" He sneers at her, and she flinches as her heart misses a beat. Tears brim in her eyes before they stream down her cheeks a
Chapter 38Pulling her suitcase behind her as she walks out of the house minutes later, tears stream down her cheeks. Standing at the roadside, and crying her eyes out like someone that just got her heart broken, Skylar feels her world crumbling down before her very eyes. Now she regrets everything she has done. She shouldn't have continued her relationship with Raymond when she found out that she was her cousin's boyfriend, but she chose to be a fool, and now she's suffering for her mistake. She couldn't bring herself to go to Raymond's house after realizing that the young man never loved her as he claimed. She accepts that it was all her fault, she started this shit in the first place, and she shouldn't have seduced him, but that was because she found him attractive, that was because she couldn't resist the urge, and now she's stuck here. A few minutes later, she finally flags down a cab and hops in without giving him her destination. Maybe squatting with Raymond for now before s
Chapter 37Her eyes slowly widen in shock as she stares back at him, wondering what he's talking about. Trying to recall what happened the previous night, she shuts her eyes tightly and holds her head when she feels so blank upstairs. "Just stop trying, girl. I'm just kidding. Nothing happened, OK?" He quickly says to her. Of course, he wouldn't want her to start thinking that he's some pervert that took advantage of her, just because she was drunk. That's the last thing she would ever do to anyone, and not even to his secretary. She's too special to him for him to bring himself to do that to her. Releasing a sigh of relief, she falls back to the bed and stares up at the ceiling as tears brim in her eyes. Recalling everything that happened between Raymond and Skylar, she can only blame herself for being a fool all along. It doesn't hurt that he cheated on her, and neither is she sad because it had to be with her cousin, but she's sad that she never noticed that this dude has been pl
Chapter 36Jayden didn't expect her next action. It comes as a shock to him when Evelyn seals their lips together. Initially, he thought that she wanted to hug him again or do another crazy thing, but kissing him is completely different and it is very shocking to him.She wraps her long arms around his neck, deepening the kiss, usinge her nails to get his thick black hair messy. Her sweet lips are traveling through different parts of his mouth. Her mouth tastes like what she has been drinking. An alcohol with a neutral taste. Despite that everything in him wants to return the kiss, he can't bring himself to snap out of the shock. He wants to return the aggressive kiss while using the opportunity to touch her ass. He wants to grab her closer to his body. but on a second thought he restrain himself. He is aware that kissing her back may be considered as taking advantage of her drunken taste. Obviously, she is drunk and she doesn't know what she is doing. The scent of her perfume is dr

She is sure that a man is going to approach her soon. After Evelyn left the company in the afternoon, she went to the shopping mall. She wants to get herself drunk and p
Chapter 34 Jayden threads a hand through his jet-black hair, swallowing a gulp down his throat. He doesn't know what to say, his lips remain glued together. Jayden wishes those mean words hadn't come out of his mouth. He shouldn't have said that to her. Now, he has hurt her feelings. Evelyn pulls away from her boss' desk, trying hard to control the tears which are threatening to fall from her honey-brown eyes."I am going to forward my resignation letter to you through email," She says. Evelyn turns and she is beginning to walk towards the door. She is about to open the door when Jayden's strong arms grip her wrist. She jerks away from him, facing him."W..What?" Her lips tremble badly, and she cannot speak adequately. Jayden's hands squeeze into tight fists, his face falls blank. He has run out of correct words to say. He is not used to telling people 'sorry'. Evelyn is the first person he has ever given an apology to. Now, he is going to do it again. It is a very difficult task
Chapter 33It has been two days since Raymond broke Evelyn's fragile heart. She has resumed work, pretending as if she is okay. But, deep down in her mind, it still hurts. It hurts her deeply, anytime the image of her ex-boyfriend kissing her cousin flashes in her mind. She knows that she will get over him soon. But, how is she going to forget about him when his face is glued to her memory? She can't seem to forget about him, especially when he is spamming her with messages. Evelyn has blocked his numbers and deleted everything about him on her phone but Raymond is persistent and stubborn, he still spams her with calls and texts using strange numbers. She doesn't even bother to read his texts. She doesn't listen to his pleas and excuses. What excuse can he give her, anyway? She caught them together in her house. It even seems like they've been deceiving her, since all these days. Or, is he going to tell her that he was drunk that day?All his messages are left unread on her social
