The package

Absolutely No one I could Rely on.

I had to be strong if I wanted to win.

"You won't win to the Rival's if you invest" Bexley pounded his fist on the table.

I was seated in front of Landon's board of directors.

They did not want me as the Ceo of the company, and they made it known.

There was nothing they could do about it tho, I was in charge, they had to accept it.

"I've made my decision, we'll invest"

"And incur losses? Bexley raised his eyebrow.

" This is a wrong path "

" Me jerkins, I appreciate you, but this is what I want " I said and they murmured amongst themselves.

" I've thought about this thoroughly, and this is the only way to win "

" We'll loose everything " Mr Grant glared at me.

" Y'all have to trust me " 

"We've accepted you, not enough? Bexley asked a smug expression on his face.

" You've accepted me, work on trusting me" I smiled.

"I'll see you all tomorrow" I stood up.

I went straight to my car, not stopping to acknowledge any comments they made.

I was getting home early today, to spend time with Landon.

I stopped at the mall, picking sweets and candies, I got him a new toy, he would love it.

I stepped into mansion, it was quiet, there was no sign of Landon downstairs.

"Where's Landon? I asked the maid as I stepped in.

" Up in his room, a package came for him few minutes ago"

" Did you check it?

"It was from you, I didn't" she said and my pulse quickened.

I ran upstairs, trembling.

" Landon" I pushed his door opened.

"Hey" he smiled at me, he was seated in front of a package.

I frozed.

"I got a gift from you, here's the card" he raised his hands.

"Where's the gift Landon?

Has he ate it? Was the Poison taking effect?

I was going to go mad.

"Here" he raised the item, and my chest tightened.

I couldn't breathe, I was definitely going to pass out.

Landon held a gun, inspecting it with a smile.

"Landon I....I.. please"

"I like the gift, how does it even work? He turned it upside down, carefully inspecting it

" Landon give... give it to me" I stammared.

" No, I like it very much" he held it.

" Do you know how it works, do I pull thi? He points to the trigger.

Tears poured from my eyes,

"Landon please.."

"Don't come closer" he pouted and I stopped in my track.

"Do you want to take it back?

" No, I...I"

" I'm going to show you how to use it"

Tears streamed from my eyes.

" Why are you crying? Are you crying cos of the gift? I love it, I do not hate it, I love whatever you give me, don't cry" he replied, and his words only increased the flow.

" I..I.. bought you a dinosaur"

my hands trembled as I sort out the dinosaur.

" You did? His eyes lit up in excitement

"Yes"

I brought out the dinosaur, and he rushed to me.

"Give me that, and you'll have this" I tried to keep my voice steady.

He stretched his hands.

I took it with trembling hands.

"Now the dinosaur" he stared at me expectantly.

"I love it, Malcom has a new playmate" he stared at the dinosaur, swirling it around.

I opened the gun chamber, there was no single bullet in it.

I took the note on the floor.

"This is for you Landon, from Darling Ren"

I turned the back.

I gasped,my hands shaking.

"Real bullets next time, this is just a warning Ren" 

Those were the words, written on it. 

I walked towards Landon who was busy with his toys.

I held him, tears pouring from my eyes.

" Are you okay? He asked

I wrapped my arms around him, wetting him with my tears, holding him close.

I was scared, Landon was my weakness in this game, I could not afford to let him get hurt.

"Ren" he held me

"What's wrong? I like the gift, are you okay? Do you want to play with me?

" I just want to hold you" I held him, my tears soaking his chest.

I had to get more men, I needed a personal bodyguard for him.

I was going to recruit well trained men, a hundred of them, I was going to oversee the whole process myself.

"Are you okay ma'am" the maid walked in, and she looked at me, tensed.

I moved from Landon's hold.

"Ma'am I..."

"No packages should be allowed in, please" I replied, my voice breaking from both crying and tiredness. 

"It was from you ma'am, I.." 

"Even if it's from me Tia, don't let it in, Till I get back"

She nods.

" Please get Landon something to eat" I said and she nods and walked out.

I took the gun to my room, and hid it in a safe. I would have it investigated, later on.

I freshened up, and went back to Logan's room.

We ate together, and retired to bed together.

"Tell me a story" he said, as he snuggled close to me.

"I'll tell you a story about king Landon and Ren" 

" Is it a happy ending? He asked

"Of course "

"Include Malcom please?

" Who's Malcolm? 

" My dinosaur "

" Okay I will " I replied.

" The story starts with Ren, she's looking for a Job and she goes into Landon's territory, 

It's love at first sight, and Landon doesn't let her go "

" Cos he loves her very much " 

" Yes" I smiled.

" Do you know what happened next?

"No" he replied.

"I'll tell you, Landon confesses his love to Ren, and Ren too is already so smitten by him, he buys her a ring that's worth millons, and bonds her to himself, but there are lots of enemies after the two of them, this is where Malcom comes in"

" Do you know what next?

Landon doesn't reply, he's slept already.

I closed my eyes, my mind drifting, to the first time I met Landon Kingston. 

The man who stole my breath, and took my heart right from the very first day.
