What kind of situation am I in? Since when were knives allowed inside a night bar? I looked at the knife pointed onto my neck and gulped.
"Release me," I ordered though I knew he wouldn't listen.
"That necklace. Do you even know what that is?" The man asked me. Judging from his voice, he didn't sound young but some from his thirties.
"I don't. It's something my sister owned," I calmly answered the man. While my eyes wandered, trying to find a solution way out.
"You're sister? What is her name?" The man asked, making me wonder why he was invading my privacy.
"You don't need to know," I scoffed. "Rather, what makes you think I'll tell you?"
"Young miss, your life is on the line right now."
"You're right. However, my privacy is important," I stated loud and clear, which made the man tighten his grip around my neck.
I winced in pain and noticed I was slowly being choked by the man. I thought it was the end of me not until the door banged aloud. The man's grip loosened, and I used to opportunity to escape from him.
I stomped on the man's foot then bit his hand as hard as I could. Then an arm swung right in front.
I dodged the swing, but I lost my balance and fell onto the ground. I groaned and looked at the man whose eyes were filled with bloodlust.
I felt chills crawling behind my back, and the man raised his hand that was holding the knife. As he was about to swing it. The man's eyes grew wide, then slowly fell onto his knees, and his face landed on the ground.
Then a young-looking man whose hair was dyed in pink appeared in my sight. His white shirt was stained with blood and his brown eyes pierced through me. His bloodlust was a lot worse than the other man. It scared me that I was going to die.
Blood dripped from his muscular-looking arms, and he lifted his hand, looking at it as if it were nothing.
Our gaze met and brushed a swift silence between us. He's hurt. I wanted to reach out to him, but my legs felt weak.
Then out of nowhere, a group of five men walked out of the door. Each one of them held a weapon in their hand. I was more worried about the pink-haired guy since he was wounded.
He's at a disadvantage. One versus five doesn't seem like an unfair number.
But I shouldn't have underestimated the pink-haired guy. He rushed into the group of men and knocked them one by one without using anything but his hands.
I watched the pink-haired guy panting then collapse onto the ground. I, without doubt, ran towards him.
"Hey, hey, are you alright? You can't sleep. I'm going to call for an ambulance," I said and was about to pull my phone out, but he grabbed my hand.
"I'm alright. Don't call for the ambulance," said the pink-haired man in a raspy voice. "M-my team will be here soon. "
"W-where are they?" I started to panic as I looked around, trying to find help.
I didn't know what to do. I learned first aid in health class, but my brain is empty. Also, my hands were trembling terribly.
Right before the pink-haired man spoke, the door banged open and rushed in two other boys. To my surprise, they were familiar.
"Sian!" called Joshua as he went ripped the sleeves of his shirt and tied it onto the man's wound. "This is why I said not to rush in. Wayne, call the health department to be ready."
"On it already," said Wayne. "Hello? This is Wayne. Sian is hurt. We'll be sending him in a few minutes."
It doesn't seem like they noticed me yet. But what are they doing here? They called the pink-haired guy Sian. I guess they know each other.
I quietly sat behind them as Joshua continued to tend onto the wound. While Wayne ended the call, then our eyes met. He dropped his phone as our eyes met. Still speechless as he is. Wayne picked his phone back up.
"What…are you doing here?" Wayne asked. Then his eyes lowered, and I thought he was looking at my chest. So I covered my chest with my arms which made him flustered. "I didn't mean that. I was looking at your necklace."
The necklace again. Is this the reason why Micah told me not to show the necklace? She could have just said not to wear it. But I guess she couldn't since my sister owned it. Also, the man earlier. It seems like this necklace holds lots of importance.
"What about it?" I asked him in a stern voice which shook him back.
"N-nothing," he stuttered, then his phone rang. "You've arrived? We'll be there in a bit." Wayne ends the call and carries the pink-haired man on his back down.
I'm utterly confused. I do not know what had just happened and wish they could fill me in the details. It was just like an action movie earlier. Well, the fact I almost lost my life still scares me. Even my legs won't work on me.
I sighed while looking down the ground to see a shadow in front of me. I looked up and met a pair of light blue eyes gently looking at me. My heart skipped a beat, and he offered me a hand.
"Are you alright?" Joshua asked gently.
"I-I'm just a bit shocked from earlier," I laughed it off and when I held his hand. He pulled me up. Then removed the jacket he wore and placed it around my shoulder. "You should go back home. It must have been a crazy day."
It was my first time seeing him this close. I couldn't lie, but his features were extremely handsome. It's almost as if he was a model.
We both gazed at each other. Neither saying a single word. It was as if our eyes were doing the talking, and we both smiled at each other in the end. But it didn't end long until the smile on his face disappeared.
"Good girl," Joshua said as his fingers slipped past through my hair as it flew to the side. "But next time, don't do that again. Also, don't wear the necklace out again. That's an advice from me."
Again with the necklace. Not only that, Wayne did mention it, so did Joshua. Is father hiding something away from me?
"Then we will see again. When the time comes."
For the last time, the corner of his lips rose. As I watched his back disappear from my sight. It felt like the moon was shining on him. It might sound stupid, but he looked brighter than ever.
I clenched my hand onto my chest. My heart wouldn't stop beating fast. Which made me think if I've fallen in love.
My phone suddenly rang out loud, which made me jump. I saw the ID caller on the phone, which was Micah. I picked up the call, and her background noise didn't sound loud at all.
"Sofia? I have to go back home. My dad found out I went clubbing without his permission. I have to go back home before he does," said Micah.
"Go ahead. I'll call someone to bring me back home," I said.
"Sorry, I'm unable to bring you back home," Micah apologizes, and the call ends there.
Anyway, I want to go back home and rest.
It has been three days since then the incident had happened. Trust me when I told myself to forget about it. I couldn’t. I couldn’t help but feel bothered by the necklace.I stood in front of a memorial picture of my sister, who looked exactly like me when I was younger. I removed the necklace off my neck and placed it in front of her.“Just what is this?” I asked her.The young girl brightly smiling in the picture was my older sister, Hannah Ambroise. Since we’re siblings, it’s natural to look like each other.I stared at the necklace and wondered why it was so important that even strangers asked me about it. I haven’t heard from father since he hasn’t been home. The same goes for my mother.Well, without them, I don’t think I can live a luxurious life. But they’re lucky I don’t like spending their money. Since it feels like I’m wasting their hard work, spending on useless thi
I guess life is unexpectedly a mystery. In a world where mafias ruled the underground. While the businessmen ruled the overworld that even the government couldn’t control them. Tuesday 6:30 am I woke up earlier than usual, and I didn’t know why. I was sitting on my bed while scrolling through my feed, seeing the same usual boring thing except for the recent news about a murder in an alley. Do people kill each other just for money, for justice, or for fun? Well, what can I say? We’ll never know since human nature is like a snake. I stood up and prepared myself for the day. I have to go to school today. I don’t want to keep Micah and Soleil worried about me. Since I didn’t read their messages yesterday.
“Care to explain what I saw earlier?” Micah nudged my arm with a cheeky expression. “What? Isn’t it normal for classmates to talk to one another?” I answered back. “Since when did you guys become this close?” Soleil asked me as she tended to her fingernails. “I left home earlier than usual. I didn’t expect them to be in school this early, too,” I truthfully answered her. Which is not entirely a lie. “Not really,” said Micah as her brows rose, and she pointed her finger at me. “I won’t ask anything further. But if one day. You become close to them. Don’t forget me.” Soleil and I laughed at Micah for being overly dramatic. Not in a hundred years will I ever ditch Micah and Soleil. Then a group of girls stood by our classroom doors and called for Soleil. Micah and I looked at each other than at Soleil as she walked towards the group of girls. Micah moved to sit beside me and whispered. “Why is she talking to them?” “I don’
As I walked to our table. I heard the voice of Soleil laughing with another group of girls. When our eyes met. I gave her a smile and waved my hands at her. But she ignored it. It doesn’t feel right at all. Soleil, I don’t understand why you’re treating us this way. Unless because you’re sick about Micah, and I don’t stand out as much. I placed the tray on the table and grabbed a spoon of mashed potato. Then shoved it into my mouth. Another tray was placed on the table. I looked up and watched Joshua sit beside me. “What’s wrong?” He asked me. I looked away from him and questioned myself for staring at him. “Nothing.” “I see,” Joshua took his seat and began eating his lunch. “Are you always this quiet while eating?” “Hmm, you can say it became a habit. When I eat at home, it is completely silent on the table,” I awkwardly laughed. “Which is why I prefer being in school rather than at home, alone.” I never thought much about it.
I picked up the chair Soleil pushed to the ground. Then looked at Micah, who was rumbling mean words. Micah couldn’t forgive Soliel and the truth to be told. I couldn’t either, but unlike Micah, I was reminded to stay cool-headed. Micah looked at me and asked, “Can’t you get angry, or aren’t you mad at all?” I softly laughed as I didn’t know how to respond to her. “Well…I am angry. But we’re in school. I can’t just lash everything out,” I tried answering her. “You should get angry more. I don’t like the fact you always stay calm in everything,” Micah looked away from me and pulls out a black notebook from her bag. “I didn’t want to do this, but she’s now in my death notebook.” I guess this is how friendships are. There will be those who aren’t genuine at all. No, I’m actually at fault. I should have known what kind of person Soleil was. But her acting was too great that I didn’t notice. “Micah, did you ever noti
You don’t have to stay with me,” I covered half of my face using my notebook while Joshua continued to stare at me. If he continues to look at me like that. I might find things a bit complicated. “It’s alright. I told you having a change of space can help when it comes to studying,” chuckled Joshua. No, it’s not alright at all. If any of the famous girls see me together with him. There is a million chance something terrible might happen to me. As much I admit it. Joshua is handsome. His facial features are just something other boys don’t have. It didn’t look like the typical masculine or cold-looking guy. Each expression he made looked gentle, and not a single fierceness was hinted at. At this point, studying for the test would become pointless. The distraction is too much for me to handle. How, no rather what. What am I doing? I must have looked like a fool or a random fan experiencing this unexpected fan meeting. “Sti
I woke up with a terrible headache. The back of my head was aching as if I got hit by a brick. I stabilized my vision before looking around the area. Where am I? The ceiling was high, and there were barely any lights around me. I struggled against the ropes around my arms as I tried to remove the rope. But every time, I struggled against the rope. It would burn my skin. I hissed as I felt a burning sensation around my arms. I stopped struggling and instead continued to observe where I was. It smelled like gasoline, and I could hear the sounds of waves splashing onto a wall. If I put it all together. I'm sure I'm near a seaport right now. I don't understand why I'm here, but there must be at least some way to get out of here. "You're awake?" I heard a deep voice ask from behind. I didn't bother to look who it was since I was slightly frightened. "W-who are you?" I stuttered and acted tough, which was a complete fai
When I opened my eyes and heard the heart monitor beeping. I knew that I had been asleep for a while. I remembered everything that had happened—and thinking about how I almost died scared me to death. I grasped onto the bedsheet as I thought I almost died back there. Everything was still clear that the words J told me still lingered in my ears. “Daughter of Harrison, not just a businessman, hiding me all these past few years. Is there anything my father is hiding from me?” I muttered to myself, staring at the ceiling. I gasped aloud and sat on the bed, looking around the room. Where am I? It doesn’t look like the hospital room. It’s more like a house, and the room was bigger than mine. I detached the IV needle, and my foot met the cold black marble floor. I walked towards the glass pane that was as tall as the wall. I touched the glass pane and looked down to see a flat green grass. On the side, there was an infinity po
“Dinner is now ready. Everyone go to the dining room,” called Randy, who walked out of the dining area still wearing his apron. “Yes, finally,” rejoiced Eric, who pulled me as he led me to the dining room. Everyone sat down on the longer sides of the table. But on the other hand, I sat in the middle facing them. Eric forced me to sit in the middle seat, which was not comfortable at all. Either way, I might have to get used to it soon. “Do I have to sit here?” I whispered to Eric, who nodded his head. “It’s a must since you’re the head of this house currently,” Eric whispered back to me. I guess this doesn’t leave me with any choice but to sit here. I sniffed, smelling an incredible aroma flying around the room. What is this smell? It smelled like roasted chicken marinated with rosemary and other herbs. Also, am I seeing my favorite drink sitting in front of me? How do they know that I’m addicted to this drink? I did n
My father just left me like that. He left me with nine guys who I don’t really know. Asides from the fact that I know at least four people now. The nine guys stood in a horizontal line in front of me, and I didn’t know how to start a conversation. I wish someone would start since I’m not that sociable. “It’s nice to meet you, young master. My name is Blake Stones, the leader of the group. If you need anything, please feel free to ask me. Though I think you wouldn’t since you at least know Joshua and Wayne.” I looked at Blake, standing tall with a brotherly-like smile. I have a feeling that I will grow close to him. His eyes looked attractive that I somehow wished I had those pair of eyes. Then another man stood out of the line. This time it was a beautiful man with shoulder-length black hair. Why do some men look a lot prettier than other girls? And his hair. His hair looks a lot healthier than mine. “My name is Randy Winhear
While I walked down the stairs, looking down at the first floor seeing familiar faces that included Sian, Jiang Yuan, Joshua, and Wayne. While the other guys who stood beside my father looked younger than I was. My heart was beating fast that I had to tell myself to calm down. If not, others might laugh at me, hearing my loud heartbeat. I don’t know if I looked presentable enough. To be honest, I wanted to look good since there were many guys. But at the same time, I told myself not to over present myself since I want to be myself. As I stepped onto the first floor. I sat right across from my father, who was drinking tea. It was as if he had been waiting for me since earlier. But I know what kind of person my father is. When he gets nervous, he drinks tea. I’m glad I am not the only one who was nervous. “Father, please explain to me what is happening,” I told him calmly and praised myself as my voice did not tremble.
