Hello everyone! As mentioned previously, this is a free chapter in Victor's P.O.V :) Please remember these will be every 5th chapter.

Victors P.O.V

I stared blankly forwards as we walked out of the packhouse, fighting against my own self not to stay and protect her. My love, my mate. Dimitri was right, we needed to leave, but we really had to leave without her?

“Alpha, please.” Dimitri almost commanded as I stopped moving, staring back at Clide’s packhouse, arguing with myself to not run back in and take her with us.

“Alpha Victor. We need to go, you know she will be safe.”

I growled glaring at my Beta.

“And how can you of all people trust his word? Trust that she will not be harmed? Look at What Clide has done? Can you believe Herman?”

“Yes,” Dimitri responded without missing a beat, his eyes glued to mine.

I knew he wasn’t lying, he truly believed in the man.

“What is he?” I demanded as Dimitri stole a glance at our surroundings.

“Vampire.” He muttered before walking again, I followed suit until we reached the outskirts of Clide’s land.

“Alpha, I know how tough it is… to leave her… but she is in no condition to leave right now.”

“I could carry her!” I spat, my heartbreaking as I stared longingly towards the packhouse.

Dimitri let out a long hesitate sigh before continuing.

“Sir, her spine… it’s been served.”

I growled as my body shook violently, Clide.

“You should have let me kill him!”

“Sir. You know I couldn’t have.” Dimitri’s tone was impatient.

“Vivi?”Anya called out fearfully as she appeared in front of me, alone.

“Where is Bella?”

She had tears in her eyes as she glanced back, “she wanted to stay… said that someone needed to watch her… and Ellen…”

I felt a shared pain with my sister, pulling her in for a hug but changing my mind halfway.

“Alpha, Anya. I believe I located them” Dimitri spoke as if nothing had happened, it was starting to piss me off.

“Dimitri!” I growled as he looked at me with confusion. As if he didn’t understand my reaction.

“My mate, your Luna, is currently bedridden in enemy territory after you refused my vengeance… and now… you act as if nothing has happened?”

He frowned at me before shaking his head and speaking in his mother’s tongue, I hated when he did that.

“I told you, Dimitri! Not to speak in languages I do not understand!”

Dimitri sighed almost as if he was exhausted with me before speaking again.

“Alpha, you are the one that put me in charge of finding out just who knew of the Luna’s existence. It was you who told me that it was the most important thing to figure out why Ashly and Clide kept her hidden all these years, why her parents were here. I finally make headway, finally find out some information and you tell me that I’m acting as nothing has happened?”

I was honestly taken aback by his tirade, Anya giggling at the situation.

“So, with all due respect Alpha. I would much prefer to focus on something I can do, something you told me to do than something I can’t do anything about.”

“Why can’t we just bring her with us?” I growled out after a moment, frustrated with the situation.

Anya felt my pain, giving me a sympathetic smile before Dimitri let out all he had found.

“No, they know she’s here. They are waiting for the moment she steps out of Clide’s territory.” He took in a deep breath “everyone knows that she exists, vampires, all matter of shifters, even the hunters know.”

I glared at him at the mention of hunters, humans, and half-breeds without their wolf or another spirit animal that turned to killing our kind.

“From what I have found, the hunters are of no worry to us. They want what we want thankfully, but, the vampires are the problem.”

Anya frowned “which clan? Or all of them?” She butted in, Dimitri looked upset that she had but answered her question.

“All of the clans know, but the royal clan is trying to locate and take her. After all, her father managed to escape them. But they are not the real threat, no. It is as we feared.”

Anya and I shared a look, knowing now the clan he was about to utter…

“James…” Anya said quietly, her eyes wide with terror and panic.

“James.” Dimitri answered with a tinge of fear.

I gulped, fear that I had felt since that day returning. The man responsible for my parent’s deaths, for the torture I and Anya had to sub come to…

“He’s nearby, has been since the last full moon. I think he was hoping she would shift, run out of the territory line…”

“No. He was here, she mentioned that she had seen a vampire to Domini.” Anya whispered on the verge of hysterical crying, her eyes darting over the forestry as if expecting him to make an appearance.

“Oh. It’s more serious than first thought….” Dimitri trailed off, deep in thought before his face lit up and he let out a dark chuckle.

Anya and I shared a confused look before Dimitri smiled widely at us both.

“That’s why Herman is here, isn’t it? That’s why he insists on his secrets.”

“Beta… What…”

He shook his head at me before raising a finger to his lips, “not here, we need to go.”

“Dimitri, I am not leaving until I know she is safe.”

“Well, Alpha. In that case, please forgive me.”

He threw a tree at me, a f**king tree! I almost blacked out from the impact. I growled as I felt my body begin to shift before he threw another one at me, this one making me fall backward and the world starts spinning. F**king witches.

When I awoke, I was ready to tear him limb from limb. Not only had he harmed me, not only had he refused to allow me to kill that piece of s*it Clide but now? Now he purposefully kept me from my mate! But I was taken aback when I saw we were in the human world, the smells and noise almost too much for me. I tore out of the bed I was placed in, stalking over to the open window and slamming it shut. That managed to stop some of the ridiculous noise coming through, why did humans have to be so loud, live in such large numbers, and be so smelly? The room I was in was obviously a hotel, the previous tenants' smell stained the walls and floor. Whatever housekeeping serves these people had needed to be fired.

“Vivi?” Anya called out from the door, she must have heard me wake up.

I swung open the door looking for that coward Dimitri but he wasn’t there.

“Dimitri isn’t here, he went to visit his mother’s coven.”

She stepped into the room, not her happy bubbly self. She had almost a cloud of depression following her in, she made a ‘humph’ sound before throwing herself dramatically on my bed.

“Why?” I asked as she gave me an incredulous look.

“Why am I feeling this way?” She asked hopefully, I frowned at her.

“No… why did he go to his mother’s coven?”

She frowned at me before crossing her arms and pouting. I pinched the bridge of my nose while trying to fight the urge to roll my eyes.

“You are upset, obviously. I am too, but please. Focus.”

Anya sighed dramatically again, “Wow, you are such a good, caring brother!” her voice was laced in sarcasm, and this time I did roll my eyes.

“Fine, whatever. He said they could help. That they would know why Laura isn’t showing signs of either side.”

“Well, I’m pretty sure she’s getting vampiric powers…” I mumbled, Anya gave me a questioning look so I sighed pulling my shirt down so she could see the teeth marks on my neck.

“Ah. Why didn’t you tell me sooner!?” Anya exclaimed before throwing a pillow at me.

I rolled my eyes again, dodging the pillow.

“And when was the appropriate time to say that?”

She rolled her eyes back to me before giggling, a spark of happiness in her eyes before her sadness returned.

“If that’s true… why is she not showing any gifts? And why has her scent not changed?” Anya thought out loud, these were questions that had plagued me too.

“Dimitri should be back soon.” She said as if this was a good enough answer.

“Vivi, I’m scared for Bella…” She whispered before playing with the sheet on the bed. I sighed before sitting next to her.

“I know she said Clide would never hurt her… but… I mean he said he wouldn’t harm Laura… and he did… why did he snap like that? Ashly loved Laura…”

I felt my heart stop for a moment as I recalled what Herman had said… he had asked Clide what he had done… when he saw the late Luna Ashly…

“Anya…” I whispered, worry laced in my words “do you… do you think he killed her…”

She gave me a confused look “who killed her? You mean Ashly… wait…” She gasped in horror.

“You don’t mean?”

“Yes. I think I do.” I stood ready to run back to the packhouse, Anya close behind me.

Our combined fear pushing us to run much faster than we should have out the door and out the front of the dingy hotel.

“Victor! Anya! What a surprise!” A voice called out making us both stop dead in our tracks.

I was actually terrified to turn around, that voice… I could never forget that voice. Anya was hyperventilating next to me, her eyes bulging in fear. I gulped, forcing my fear down and masking my face to one of indifference as I turned, to see him. James.

  • Promised to the Alpha   Looking for some feedback

Hello dear readers! So, I am starting to hesitate with this story as we are closely approaching 100k words and I feel like we are only about halfway through Laura's journey. So, can I get a show of hands-on who would prefer I just keep going even if the book gets to 100k plus words or break this down into 2 books? My thinking is that I add an authors note a the end of 'book' 1 so to speak and re-write the synopsis to advise any new readers that it will be 2 books in one. Alternatively, the other idea I had was to just have a longer book, but I don't want the length to scare off new readers. Thanks in advance! :)

  • Promised to the Alpha   Chapter 46

My heart was racing in joy as I felt Victor scoop me up into his arms, his own heartbeat matching my own.“My love.” He whispered into my ear, his tone a mix of joy and bitterness. “I’m sorry I left you, never again will I.”If I could smile I would be grinning from ear to ear, in that moment I thought perhaps this was the feeling. The mate bond.“Let’s get her back” Domini said gruffly as my heart sunk, he sounded hurt and I knew why.I tried to move my lips, to tell them that Ellen and Bella were back at the human hospital but I still couldn’t move.“Do… do you think…” Domini started to ask but stopped himself sighing deeply. “Anya, let’s see if we can track them.”Anya was sobbing still, I didn’t hear her speak but hear two sets of footsteps walk away.“My Laura… don’t you worry, they will pay.”Vi

  • Promised to the Alpha   Chapter 47

Victor placed me down on what I could only assume was his own bed. It was heavenly, soft than the ones back at Slate pack. I felt myself fall into the soft, comforting, and safe embrace giving in to the urge to sleep. I woke up, excited as I was able to actually open my eyes. I felt overwhelmed as I glanced around Victor’s room. It was devoid of color, devoid of any memories or anything that would make it his. The walls, furniture, and curtains were all different shades of grey, perhaps I had been incorrect in assuming he put me in his room? “Luna.” A happy Dimitri sat next to the bed, giving me a smile that seemed forced. “What…? Umm… Where am I?” He squinted his eyes as his smile dropped, “at Crimson pack, in your room?” I ignored his bewildered tone “no, like… I…” I sighed frustrated at myself “is this Victor’s room?” He smirked “why? Would you prefer that?” I felt my face redden as I looked away slightly annoyed at his teas

  • Promised to the Alpha   Chapter 48

*WARNING* This chapter contains heavy topics (torture, sexual assault, and death), please skip if this sounds like it will be too much. Victor’s P.O.V chapter will go over the important information in a cleaner way. “I was left with no choice but to find them, to save them.” I sat back quietly as more tears rolled down his cheeks as if he was reliving that moment. “I found them of course, Althea’s power has not faltered with her age. But, I was not prepared for who and what had taken them. A pup, without his wolf, was no match for vampires. Let alone one as old as him.” “Who?” I whispered, his eyes darkened with rage as he spat his name. “James.” He growled before closing his eyes, taking a moment to calm himself. “He overpowered me very quickly, almost enjoying how hard I fought back to no avail. Only when I had given up, prepared to die at his hands did he stop. It was juvenile of me to expect an easy death, he wanted me to suffer.”

  • Promised to the Alpha   Quick update!

Hello! I have had some technical issues tonight so have released 2 of the already edited chapters I have been working on.I will still be posting the other 3 I promised they may just be late. I also wanted to thank all of you that left comments and thumbs up on the last author's note, I will be continuing this book until I feel Laura's story has been told all the way through. So far this is close to 180k words so many more chapters to come! I am also planning on creating a spin-off book staring Micheal and Dimitri but that will of course be once this book is completed. As a gentle reminder, this is my hobby at the moment I work most days of the week so can not allocate all my time to writing. I aim to update a least 1 chapter a day but please understand that life can sometimes get hectic. I always post updates on my social media's so if you are ever unsure if I have posted a chapter or just want to s

  • Promised to the Alpha   Chapter 49

I felt the all too familiar hot tears brim at my eyes, surrounded again by people. This time, I did not run and hide. No. I couldn’t do that anymore. Whether I liked it or not, I was a Luna and he was right to blame me. It was my fault when it came down to it that Ellen was injured, that she lost a part of herself. “Luna?” A female voice that I knew from somewhere called out, I turned to see a beautiful woman standing before me. Her skin was a rich golden brown that seemed to radiate in the sunlight, her amber flecked eyes peering into my own. I felt her confident and powerful aura hit me like a ton of bricks. She gave me a warm smile before stepping closer, I felt my lungs tighten. I felt like a child in her presence. “Finally I get to see you with my own two eyes!” She exclaimed before looking me up and down and smiling in approval, her tight curls bouncing with the movement. “I’m Rebbeka!” She extended her hand, I took it expecting to shake but she

  • Promised to the Alpha   I loved her not for the way she danced with my angels but for the way the sound of her name could silence my demons.

Victor’s P.O.V It had been so long since I had visited their grave, my parents… I had my eyes closed, listening to the running water of the waterfall. Enjoying the scents of my garden and thinking back to all those wonderful times my mother had brought me here, telling me stories of her love for my father. When I smelt her, heard her footsteps. I was afraid to look, already sitting next to their grave, ready to relive the last moments I had with them… I wasn’t sure I could cope with having her here to see that… to have to endure such horrible things. I heard her sad, voice making me look wondering if something had happened but I met with her lavender eyes, holding a shared sadness as she flicked her gaze between me and their grave. I looked away, my heart touched by her empathy before I hear Dimitri tell her to be beside me. Momentarily upset with him for she should never have to see me in such a state. Yet, her presence helped, helped quell the hatred building inside me....

  • Promised to the Alpha   Chapter 50

I laid there panting with Victor next to me, a part of me ashamed of what just happened and yet the rest of me not only loved it but wanted more. I felt Victor’s arm snake underneath my neck, pulling me into his chest. I felt immediate sparks where our skin connected, I couldn’t believe how comfortable it felt to lay there. For some reason, I had thought his chest would feel firm, almost hard and yet it was soft and warm. I felt myself sink against him, my mind floating on a cloud of pure ecstasy as he buried his face into my hair inhaling deeply. I closed my eyes a smile playing on my lips, you know this wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Part of me was again ashamed that I had seemingly lost control but I was kind of glad I had. Never would I have thought I could feel so, blissful.“My Laura.” He whispered into my hair, I smiled wider nuzzling into his chest.“I love you.” I bit my lip, my heart suddenly beating so hard

James P.O.VI couldn’t help but grin as I sat upon my throne of Jasper, sipping from a crystal glass holding the blood of a beautiful and enchanting woman. She had been so kind to me, directing me, aiding me and she tasted so sweet. Years of planning, of searching, had finally stopped. I had found her. Salvation. Her mother, she would surely be weeping now. Knowing that even her and that idiot Fredo’s deaths couldn’t stop me from taking what was mine. Pity, really. Fredo was made to rule, to lead great armies. But he was blinded, by her, that harpy. He knew my plans to overthrow his father, even once supported me in my cause. Yet, as soon as he laid eyes on her… She destroyed him. Convinced his brothers to flee, to join the disgusting mutts over their own kin. Disgusting and weak were the so-called royalty. Their father, King Zeroth at least fought, but his age made it too easy.I sighed deeply before taking another sip of the sweet nect

I felt conflicted as Victor re-dressed himself, part of me wanting nothing more than to never leave this moment. For once, I felt happy. Content even. I knew it was almost stupid of me to think that, but I couldn’t help it. It was as if as soon as my wolf had come upon me the world had shifted. I just knew I knew that I loved Victor. I wished I had of given the idea more credence sooner, and not wasted so much time chasing Xander. Xander… why did his name still bring that heaviness to me, was it true? That I had multiple mates?“My Luna?” Victor called me back to reality with a look of concern.I felt oddly guilty, as if it was wrong of me to have any remaining feelings towards him, that even the mere thought was somehow a slight against Victor. I took a deep breath before shaking my head and getting dressed myself.“Laura?” He repeated, his tone steady and yet his eyes showing a vulnerability I found hard to ignore.&

  • Promised to the Alpha   Update From the Author!

Hello everyone, I am sorry if this chapter update disappoints any of you as I am unable to reply/comment on chapters at the moment due to problems with my phone. Essentially, if you missed my last comment I have been having the worst luck recently, my laptop decided to play up (wouldn't turn on etc), my phone is an older model so I can not rely on that to update chapters so had left a previous comment advising that until I can get my laptop in a better state I am unable to update chapters. Today I have seen comments saying that the site is suggesting my book is completed, this is incorrect. I am doing my best to get my tech fixed or to find alternatives, I have managed to get some life into my laptop but are having issues with word. I also have a day job so unfortunately can not focus all my energy on this at once. I completely understand your frustrations and can tell you I am very frus

“No… it’s can’t be true…” She whispered as Victor glared at her before glancing at me, worried. “What? What does that mean?!” I asked as Victor picked up another shirt covering the mark. “It means…” Victor sighed, pained. “That I am your second mate.” I stared blankly at him as Rebbeka looked between us horrified and confused. “As in... my second chance mate?” I asked hopeful, yet understanding what this really meant…. “No…” Rebbeka said softly, her eyes flicking back to my mark. “It means you have more than one.” I looked at Victor, my heart hurting at his jealous and pained expression. I didn’t want this… “So… he is her… first mate... ?” Rebbeka asked Victor nervously as if I was no longer in the room. Victor gave her a sad smile nodding, “that’s why I couldn’t kill him… I wanted to… fuck I still do… knowing… knowing that a part of her will always love him… no matter how far she is from him, no matter how hard

I had expected to be alone for a while once Ellen left to find Domini, and yet no sooner had she left Rebbeka was at the door. A grin plastered on her face, her eyes wide with joy at the mere sight of me. It made me somewhat uncomfortable, she seemed to see me as … as an actual Luna. “Luna!” She exclaimed happily letting herself in, glancing around in disdain at Victor’s room, almost in the same vein as I had. “I had assumed he would have… done something in here…” She mumbled to herself before standing a few meters away from me, one hand on her hip looking down at me with excited eyes. “Luna Laura, I’m sure you are quite busy at the moment… well after the events of today” she smirked as if holding back a giggle before her eyes narrowed and I saw a flash of anger that chilled me. “Of course Alpha Victor has advised me you are insisting on being present during… during the interrogation of the vampire.” She spat vampire with such pure hatred I felt my heart

“What… Laura?” He asked hurriedly before briskly walking over to me, and glaring at Ellen. “What did you do?” “Me?” Ellen asked pointing to herself as he growled, “I didn’t do anything!” “She didn’t… Look… Victor… I’m… I’m sorry about… well about before…” I felt exasperated by the inner turmoil of emotions running through me. He gave me a strange look, before sighing and pressing his forehead against mine. I was surprised how sweet and loving his action felt, his skin seemed so pleasantly warm against mine instantly calming down that strange panic “My Luna, It’s okay. I may have reacted… well… a little overreaction really.” He sighed again before planting a light kiss on my forehead. “This room used to be my parents, I just never had the… desire or need to change it dramatically.” I felt more guilt bubble inside me as he kissed my forehead again. “You didn’t know, besides you are right.” He pulled away to give me a small yet sa

Victor paused at the doorway, with one hand unbuttoning his shirt to cover my naked body as best he could, I felt myself smirk as he growled in frustration as the shirt kept slipping off. Ellen giggled from behind us, throwing the blanket off the bed onto us both.“Wow, am I smarter than our own Alpha?” She teased as Victor rolled his eyes, wrapping me up as if I were a burrito.I was secretly pleased that Ellen seemed less and less scared of him as the days passed, after all, I was learning that he was all bark and no bite.I snuggled into his chest as we walked the halls, feeling exhausted and overwhelmed with my new senses. At least his scent overpowered all the others, his soft and steady heartbeat silenced the insistent noises from the house. He brought us into a new room, it was spacious as if it had not been finished yet. The walls and ceiling were a dull and boring off cream color, Victor put me down on a huge king bed with a white canopy. I

  • Promised to the Alpha   Darling, just want to let you know I am deeply in love with you.

Victor's P.O.V My world was almost complete. I had my Luna, my Laura finally. Now, just one thing was left. My revenge. I waltzed into my pack's boardroom room knowing that soon my world would be complete. Anya sat to the right of the head chair, my chair. She too sat with a huge grin spreading across her lips, practically bouncing in excitement. I was a little surprised to see Bella, messed hair, and a half-asleep look sitting beside her but did not say anything. “Alpha Victor!” Rebbeka called, standing with her arms extended for an affectionate hug. Chandler sat next to her, smiling widely at me as I embraced Rebbeka before shaking his hand. I was so grateful for those two, ever since my parents were murdered they stepped up, not just for mine and Anya’s benefit but for the whole pack. “Domini” I nodded to the frowning man my Luna seemed so fond of, he seemed to have been lost in thought his face changing to a hesitant but friendly one. “Alp

“I see…” He murmured darkly, his eyes flicking to Ellen as he scowled. “Don’t you dare look at her” I spat as his eyes looked back at me, his scowl sending a wave of fear through me. “Dimitri… my boy…” he spoke calmly without breaking eye contact with me, Dimitri had made it to the door, hand hovering over the handle. “I would choose your next action very carefully.” I flicked my eyes to Ellen, she was shaking in fear but readying herself to shift as Dimitri held up his hand at Herman, his eyes narrowing as if he was using great effort at something. He stared at Herman mouth agape in horror and surprise. “Why…” He muttered, I felt another wave of fear pass through me as Herman’s eyes bore into mine. “Why, Dimitri… you really didn’t consider what I am did you?” Herman stood slowly, turning to face him. I watched in horror as Dimitri’s face turned white as his eyes flickered between mine and Herman. “Now, be a good boy…” Herman s
