Hello, my dear readers! I want to thank you all for your ongoing support and attention to this novel. As mentioned in my last author's note I have received some comments that my chapters are too long, after long consideration, I am planning to continue them at their current length.

I also have social media account's you can follow for questions or just to send me feedback, just search Rees J Jones and my Author Picture should pop up on said profile :)

Now, there has been a delay between chapter updates and there are good reasons for that but I won't go into too much detail. I have some chapters almost ready for release however thought I would give you this mini-chapter to tie you over.

Inside Victor's mind.

If you had told me before I got to Slate pack that I, Victor, would have found his mate I would have laughed at your cruel joke. Yet, here I was. Freshly married to the girl the Goddess had hand-picked to be my love and companion. When that imbecile of a man Alpha Clide had first promised his adopted daughter as my bride to convince me to sign his treaty I had said no. Had threatened to kill him on the spot for the very idea of such a thing, after all, I had come this far in life without a Luna why would I need one now? Anya. My meddlesome sister, she knew how to convince me. We all knew that the rogue attacks were getting out of hand, even my pack wasn't safe. She was a mess with worry, understand as she still had not let go of the fear that what happened to our parents was to happen to her. Or me. I hated seeing her so scared, how could I have said no? So, with my head held high, I accepted Clide's offer to his surprise and his own fear.

I felt the memory of when I first spied her return, how I had been so consumed by her silver-white hair waving in the breeze, how she seemed so full of joy, excitement and hope. Her eyes connected with mine and I felt something so foreign, almost a forgotten emotion, love. That was until Xander made his presence known. I felt hot rage atempt to explode from me as my mate's face lit up at his sheer presence. How her lips curled into a gleeful grin, her eyes bright with love. That should have been the way she looked at me. I saw Xander glance at me before he gave my mate the cold shoulder. I felt a bit if the rage subside, happy that he was not interfering with her but then her face fell and I could see tears in her beautiful purple eyes. She fled. From me.

I could have killed that pup, how dare he. What had he done to my mate? Before I could even think straight I was sneaking towards him ready to tear him limb from limb. Clide's Beta stopped me, hands against my chest and his face a mix of concern and amusement.

"Woah, slow down Alpha."

I glared at him opening my mouth to speak when he shook his head.

"Now, now, must I remind you that there are children present and Alpha Clide has already given you the rules of our pack."

I let out a low growl, flicking my eyes to Xander who was happily chatting up some of the other females.

"Also, he is the future Alpaha of this pack. So I really can't let you harm the kid."

I was a little curious as to what Domini's intentions were. As his tone held anger towards the pup. Yet I didn't care enough to ask. I simply shrugged off his hands, scowling at him to ensure he knew that I would not tolerate such actions again and left. I really wanted to find my mate, to make sure she was okay, and to claim her right then and there. Alas, I couldn't find her. So, I went to Alpha Clide.

"Where is she?" I demanded as soon as I saw him.

He stared at me confused and frightened before an attractive, kind looking woman waved at me.

"Hello! Clide, who is this?" Her voice was gentle, sweet and reminded me of my late mother.

My heart ached in that moment, but I kept my face stern. I knew just how important my and my packs reputation was. Not just for our safety but for control.

"Ah, dear this is Alpha Victor..." Clide choked out, his discomfort being me pleasure.

"Oh I see!" She said with a glare at him before giving me a once over.

"I thought you would be more... menacing. Your just a boy." I was surprised how dismissive she was of me, Clide's face had gone pale white though.

"Alpha Victor! Do accept my aplogily... my Luna... she speaks her mind..." he spluttered out as his eyes widened in fear.

I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes, never had I met such a disappointment of an Alpha.

"Clide!" She growled "NEVER speak for me."

I smirked, relaxing a little as at least his Luna seemed to have a brain.

"I am Luna Ashly. Incase my mate" she gave him a glare "did not mention me."

I nodded at her poliently before turning my attention back to Clide.

"Where is she?" I asked again, he gave me a bewildered look causing me to growl in frustration.

"My soon to be Luna, she is MY mate." The claim came rushing out, I didn't want to announce my claim yet but I just couldn't stop it.

Luna Ashly scoffed as her face contorted to anger, she turned to Clide slapping him hard on the face. I did not expect that.

"YOU TOLD ME HE DECLINED!" The rage rolling off her was outstanding.

Clide, the pathetic man recoiled back from her, hands up as if pleading.

"I told you not to offer her! I told you what I would do if you did!" Her green eyes were as bright as flames.

"I swear to the Goddess, if it wasn't for our son I would have left you a long time ago."

I raised my eyebrow at that, mates couldn't just leave each other after they had accepted the claim. Only death could sever such a tie. But Clide's frantic expression gave it away, they were not mates.

"Oh for Goddess sake Clide!" Ashly pinched the bridge of her nose before giving me the full attention of her glare. I shifted my weight surprised at how small she made me feel.

It was surreal, as if in that moment my own mother was speaking through her.

"Under NO circumstances are you to approach Laura or to publically claim her. I will not allow this marriage. I apologize for Clide giving you the impression WE would agree to such things but I can not, and will not, allow my Laura to be with someone... with your reputation."

I felt an odd crushing sensation in my heart at her words as her face softened slightly.

"You claim she is your mate, please, wait. She is shy of her 18th birthday and has not yet shifted. We will know for certain once she does, and if she feels the same for you. Well."

I frowned, feeling panic set in at the thought of not having my mate, of not being able to see or be with her.

"She is mine." I growled out trying to mask the inner pain. It worked, the Luna stared at me concerned as Clide seemed to whimper.

"Time will tell, the Goddess be kind that you are wrong. For now, you must stay away from her. That is an order." Ashly finished dismissing me, before turning to Clide.

"You better step up and be a proper Alpha Clide, I gave an order. That order needs to be followed."

Clide swallowed nervously before nodding, I watched as the Luna glared at the both of us before leaving. Clide attempted to pretend I wasn't there so i left.

"Vivi!" Anya jumped and hugged me as I returned to the guest floor.

I hugged her back, amazed still, at how she continued to be so bubbly and delighted with the world. I couldn't help but wonder just how she managed, how she could live life like this knowing the dangers in this world. Knowing that those monsters that killed our parents, our friends, they were not only still out there but growing stronger. How could she continue to smile, joke and play around when I knew that she, like myself, replayed that day constantly. The torture we indured, the sick twisted games of a mad man we had to participate and win for our freedom.

"Did you see her? The half-breed?" She asked in a low whisper her eyes serious, reminding me of the plan.

"Yes, Anya..." I took a steadying breath knowing she wouldn't believe how perfect, how gracious the Goddess had been.

"She is my mate. I'm sure of it."

Anya's expression did not change for a moment before her gleaming grin returned. She clapped her hands together and practically bounced in excitement.

"I knew it was going to be good! After all! It is her! The future queen of..." I covered her mouth with my hand as I noticed two tall identical looking pups walk past. One girl and one boy, both had blonde hair and blue eyes, the girl she stared at me intensely a frown on her face but fear in her eyes. I watched as they walked past, waiting until they were out of earshot.

"Anya! I swear... you have to be more careful! We don't know who is listening."

She rolled her eyes before giggling.

"So they really don't know? The Alpha and Luna? I mean if they did they surely wouldn't have offered her away..."

"I didn't think they knew, but the Luna. She seems to know something, she did not agree and I think wasn't aware Alpha Clide offered."

Anya pressed her eyebrows together in thought as I patted her on the head, giving her one of my rare smiles. My sister was still sweet, no matter how cruel this world could be. The least I could do for her was to try and smile.

"Well, after meeting the man do you think they are in cahoots with them?" Anya asked thoughtfully.

I shook my head smirking at the idea of fumbling Clide being in contact with those monsters.

"Prehpas... not the Alpha, but maybe the Luna."

Anya nodded before glancing around, "when was the last rogue attack here?"

"A few months ago, but apparently they did not attack anyone. Alpha Clide informed me it is very rare that they do, seemingly only attacking after the pups first shift."

Anya's face grew dark with grief "on their first shift? They wouldn't stand any chance..."

I felt sympathy towards Alpha Clide, it wasn't easy to admit that you needed help, let alone to another Alpha. And what he was proposing was a grand idea, a treaty involving all the packs to share one army with the sole purpose of eradicating the rogues responsible. Even Alpha Clide wasn't daft enough to miss that they were working with someone, I wondered if he had figured out just who that was yet. I supposed he hadn't, if he knew it was those monsters in control he would have offered the other packs more than he did for their agreement. I also found it odd that the other packs had not released how strange it was the Clides pack seemed to get off easy in comparison. It was almost every day one of the other packs would find a young woman dead.

I hope you enjoyed that little snippet from Victor's P.O.V! And if you did please comment, I would love to do more in the future if you found it enjoyable!

Also, do you like the idea of having these as free chapters?

I was enjoying this strange sense of peace as Ellen and I walked back towards the guest floor where Victor surely would be, but, when we opened the hall doors to the stairwell we were both taken aback in surprise. There were people running around everywhere, sobbing, frantic faces dashing past us. I shared a worried look with Ellen, there was no way Victor had caused this mess. “What’s going on?” Ellen asked a stranger grabbing her arm and yanking her to face us. She was younger than both of us, her swollen eyes and red nose gave away her grief as I felt my heart stutter. Had someone else been killed? “Luna…” She choked out before bursting into inconsolable tears. My heart stopped, the world slowed as I stared at her. Ellen shaking her with her own panic. “What about the Luna?” “She’s gone!” The girl wept as Ellen and I stood in shock, disbelief, and grief. Both of us running to the pack house’s medical ward, neither of us spok

Ellen’s P.O.V Days had passed, Laura was getting better but still was comatose. I felt… useless. I couldn’t tell anyone what Herman had told me, I trusted what he was saying without words. I might not have understood the whole thing but I knew just how serious he was being. I let out a heavy breath not realizing I had been holding it in as I glanced at Laura, her skin was greenish now the bruising had subsided. I had been taking turns watching over her with Bella. Domini, Anya, and Alpha Victor had to return to Crimson pack territory. We were being permitted to stay until Laura could walk, in Luna Ashly’s memory. I clenched my jaw thinking back to Alpha Clide’s visit that very same night he had beaten Laura to a pulp. “Ellen.” Alpha Clide’s eyes darted to Laura, darkening and narrowing at her body. “I am only allowing you to care for… it… her as the last gift from my Luna.” I glanced at Xander, standing behind his father a look of utter bewilderment at his to

  • Promised to the Alpha   Chapter 40

"Oh what a tangled web we weave when at first we start to deceive" - Sir Walter Scott, 1808 I gasped as the most excruciated pain circulated my entire body, thrusting my eyes open to be blinded by bright white light. “Laura?!” “Oh thank the Goddess!” I gritted my teeth as I closed my eyes as tight as I could, the light still blinded me so I covered them with my hands. I groaned at the motion, my body felt like it hadn’t moved in days. “Turn off some of these lights Bella, I think they are hurting her.” “Oh right!” I felt instant relief as the lights turned off, I re-opened my eyes slowly. I looked over to my left side to see Ellen, a sad smile playing on her lips sitting in a chair beside me. I was instantly concerned by her unkempt appearance, her hair was a mess and she had no make-up on. Before I could even open my mouth to ask what was wrong ahead of red messy curls c

  • Promised to the Alpha   Chapter 41

I awoke it seemed much later to both Ellen and Bella snoring, I glanced between the two of them feeling an immense sense of guilt. How much had changed, how much pain and turmoil they had both had suffered through because of me. Ellen was right, I was stupid. Sighing I sat up surprised by the lack of pain. I inspected my body feeling an odd sense of dread seeing it back to its normal condition, not a single bruise left. How long had I slept for this time? I bit my lip as my mind raced with everything that had happened. I was stuck, stuck on how to feel about Clide. Ellen’s words bounced about my mind as memories of his harsh, almost cowardly nature reminded me that perhaps she was right. After all, how long had it taken me to see Xander for who he truly was? Was I really that naïve?I stood, waited a moment for the old satisfying cracks of my bones, and a little hesitation after being unable to last time. But neither the sound of cracking bones nor that uneasiness

Hello everyone! Quick request from myself! If you come across a chapter that is confusing please leave a comment on that chapter with a little explanation on what is confusing. I appreciate the feedback you give me and really want to improve my writing so please be more open with me. I'm also very happy that you all seem to like the idea of free chapters in Victor's P.O.V so from here onwards every 5th chapter will be from his perspective (and free). This chapter takes place before and just after Luna Ashly's death. Okay! Now that's out of the way, let's dive in! Victor's P.O.V Finally. She was mine. I couldn't lie or hide just how happy I had been that night, seeing her all dolled up with a traditional flower crown. My mate, my Luna, she was spectacular. I could feel her nervousness and hesitation but knew in my heart she would not have agreed or been there if she did not feel the same as me. I knew, thanks to Anya's meddling, that Xander

Her behavior was so, odd. Why would I have her clothes? Why didn't she bring her own? I felt agitated as she slammed the bathroom door but that quickly turned to remorse when I heard her sobs. How, how could I fix this? Why was she crying? Had I hurt her unintentionally? I had every intention of talking this out with her as soon as she came out, but I had passed out before she could return to the bed. I was pleasantly surprised when I woke up to have her cuddled up to me. My heart swelled as I felt my face break into a grin, her face buried into my neck, her light breathing caressing my skin. I refused to move in case I would wake her, and to try and stop my morning wood from getting too excited. She shifted slightly, murmuring in her sleep before I felt her lips against the nape of my neck. My entire body shivering with anticipation and excitement as I felt her tongue flick against the muscle in my neck. My mind was racing, was she awake and ready to accept me? I felt

  • Promised to the Alpha   Chapter 42

Ellen led the way through the packhouse, Bella at my rear. It was so surreal. I felt empty looking at each area as memories of my life passed by. Thankfully it was the dead of night so no one else was wandering around. I still couldn’t believe everything that had happened to me so quickly, how fast things had changed. I kind of wished that I could go back, warn myself of Xander’s intentions, tell myself to be kinder to Ashly. As we walked out the large wooden front doors I felt myself inhale deeply, pausing to look at the packhouse one last time. Giving myself just that moment to mourn, mourn the person I used to be. “Luna?” Bella whispered nervously, she was darting around as if frightened we were to be attacked. I closed my eyes and said my goodbyes to the place that I had thought was my home for so long, my heart hurt thinking about never seeing this place again. “Laura. We have to go.” Ellen barked, I opened my eyes to see the same mourning look in

“What about your eye?” I asked Ellen, she looked at me with shame. “Ah. Well, it seems the forest wanted to keep a piece of me…” Both Bella and I gasped as Ellen pulled up her right eyelid, showing just flesh left. “It’s okay, it doesn’t really hurt. Thanks to the wolf blood I think it’s already basically healed. Guess I was lucky the tree pulled it out…” “Ellen…” I stammered not sure what to say, she just shrugged before turning to collect the bag she had thrown. Forcing me to remember that needle. “Ellen, what did you inject me with?” Ellen’s body stiffened as she stopped moving, Bella sharing my curious expression. She turned and gave us both a nervous smile. “Ah, just something Doctor Herman gave me… to calm you down…” I frowned at how she seemed to almost dodge the question, I knew she was holding something back. “Ellen…” I breathed with a tinge of agitation, why would she be keeping something from me?

Salvation. Her mother, she would surely be weeping now. Knowing that even her and that idiot Fredo’s deaths couldn’t stop me from taking what was mine. Pity, really. Fredo was made to rule, to lead great armies. But he was blinded, by her, that harpy. He knew my plans to overthrow his father, even once supported me in my cause. Yet, as soon as he laid eyes on her… She destroyed him. Convinced his brothers to flee, to join the disgusting mutts over their own kin. Disgusting and weak were the so-called royalty. I felt conflicted as Victor re-dressed himself, part of me wanting nothing more than to never leave this moment. For once, I felt happy. Content even. I knew it was almost stupid of me to think that, but I couldn’t help it. It was as if as soon as my wolf had come upon me the world had shifted. I just knew I knew that I loved Victor. I wished I had of given the idea more credence sooner, and not wasted so much time chasing Xander. Xander… why did his name still bring that heaviness to me, was it true? That I had multiple mates?“My Luna?” Victor called me back to reality with a look of concern.I felt oddly guilty, as if it was wrong of me to have any remaining feelings towards him, that even the mere thought was somehow a slight against Victor. I took a deep breath before shaking my head and getting dressed myself.“Laura?” He repeated, his tone steady and yet his eyes showing a vulnerability I found hard to ignore.&

Hello everyone, I am sorry if this chapter update disappoints any of you as I am unable to reply/comment on chapters at the moment due to problems with my phone. Today I have seen comments saying that the site is suggesting my book is completed, this is incorrect. I am doing my best to get my tech fixed or to find alternatives, I have managed to get some life into my laptop but are having issues with word. I also have a day job so unfortunately can not focus all my energy on this at once. I completely understand your frustrations and can tell you I am very frus

“No… it’s can’t be true…” She whispered as Victor glared at her before glancing at me, worried. “What? What does that mean?!” I asked as Victor picked up another shirt covering the mark. “It means…” Victor sighed, pained. “That I am your second mate.” I stared blankly at him as Rebbeka looked between us horrified and confused. “As in... my second chance mate?” I asked hopeful, yet understanding what this really meant…. “No…” Rebbeka said softly, her eyes flicking back to my mark. “It means you have more than one.” I looked at Victor, my heart hurting at his jealous and pained expression. I didn’t want this… “So… he is her… first mate... ?” Rebbeka asked Victor nervously as if I was no longer in the room. Victor gave her a sad smile nodding, “that’s why I couldn’t kill him… I wanted to… fuck I still do… knowing… knowing that a part of her will always love him… no matter how far she is from him, no matter how hard

I had expected to be alone for a while once Ellen left to find Domini, and yet no sooner had she left Rebbeka was at the door. A grin plastered on her face, her eyes wide with joy at the mere sight of me. It made me somewhat uncomfortable, she seemed to see me as … as an actual Luna. “Luna!” She exclaimed happily letting herself in, glancing around in disdain at Victor’s room, almost in the same vein as I had. “I had assumed he would have… done something in here…” She mumbled to herself before standing a few meters away from me, one hand on her hip looking down at me with excited eyes. “Luna Laura, I’m sure you are quite busy at the moment… well after the events of today” she smirked as if holding back a giggle before her eyes narrowed and I saw a flash of anger that chilled me. “Of course Alpha Victor has advised me you are insisting on being present during… during the interrogation of the vampire.” She spat vampire with such pure hatred I felt my heart

“What… Laura?” He asked hurriedly before briskly walking over to me, and glaring at Ellen. “What did you do?” “Me?” Ellen asked pointing to herself as he growled, “I didn’t do anything!” “She didn’t… Look… Victor… I’m… I’m sorry about… well about before…” I felt exasperated by the inner turmoil of emotions running through me. He gave me a strange look, before sighing and pressing his forehead against mine. I was surprised how sweet and loving his action felt, his skin seemed so pleasantly warm against mine instantly calming down that strange panic “My Luna, It’s okay. I may have reacted… well… a little overreaction really.” He sighed again before planting a light kiss on my forehead. “This room used to be my parents, I just never had the… desire or need to change it dramatically.” I felt more guilt bubble inside me as he kissed my forehead again. “You didn’t know, besides you are right.” He pulled away to give me a small yet sa

Ellen giggled from behind us, throwing the blanket off the bed onto us both.“Wow, am I smarter than our own Alpha?” She teased as Victor rolled his eyes, wrapping me up as if I were a burrito.I was secretly pleased that Ellen seemed less and less scared of him as the days passed, after all, I was learning that he was all bark and no bite.I snuggled into his chest as we walked the halls, feeling exhausted and overwhelmed with my new senses. At least his scent overpowered all the others, his soft and steady heartbeat silenced the insistent noises from the house. He brought us into a new room, it was spacious as if it had not been finished yet. The walls and ceiling were a dull and boring off cream color, Victor put me down on a huge king bed with a white canopy. I

I waltzed into my pack's boardroom room knowing that soon my world would be complete. Anya sat to the right of the head chair, my chair. She too sat with a huge grin spreading across her lips, practically bouncing in excitement. I was a little surprised to see Bella, messed hair, and a half-asleep look sitting beside her but did not say anything. “Alpha Victor!” Rebbeka called, standing with her arms extended for an affectionate hug. I was so grateful for those two, ever since my parents were murdered they stepped up, not just for mine and Anya’s benefit but for the whole pack. “Domini” I nodded to the frowning man my Luna seemed so fond of, he seemed to have been lost in thought his face changing to a hesitant but friendly one. “Alp
