Chapter 6

*8 hours later*

*sigh* The clock on Siana’s watch read 8.30 pm and finally her day had come to an end after finishing her part-time job. This was a day filled with so many emotions that it had exhausted her and she now stood in front of the door to her house with her keys in her hand. Her hands trembled a little bit for the fear of being stalked by someone so dangerous made her a little paranoid. 

What if he was inside her house? What if he had been spying on her? What if he was sitting inside ready to attack her? 

After a long silence, Siana took a deep breath and unlocked the door. She didn’t want to stop living her life just cause of someone like him. And finally, she pushed the door open…it was complete silence. 

She started looking around the whole house which wasn’t too big, it just had one room with a small living room attached to the kitchen and a balcony which was Siana’s favorite part. After looking everywhere, she found nothing but still, her panic just seemed to increase and her hands started trembling again. 

*meow* Siana froze on hearing that sound and suddenly a smile appeared on her face as she finally heard her little kitten’s voice who was sitting on the balcony on her small cushion. She felt relieved that it was safe and that the stalker hadn’t been there. 

She went to the balcony and cuddled it in her arms. “I’m so glad you’re safe Kai…” She sighed in relief as she kissed the top of his head. The kitten looked up at her and licked her cheek which made Siana laugh. 

It was a white kitten with little patches of black color around its body. Some time ago, Siana had found it outside of the building that she lived in. It was in a dirty condition and was wet because of the rain that had happened that day. 

Siana took it to the vet and was planning to give it up for adoption. However, somehow felt drawn to it from the moment she saw it and wasn’t able to leave without taking it in. It had been 3 months since then and Siana had gotten really attached to the kitten.

She then went back to her normal routine of cleaning everything but she was feeling a little down than usual because of all that had happened during the day. In the end, she just lay on her bed and was exhausted from all the emotions of the day. The kitten lay on top of her and suddenly licked her cheek. Siana giggled again and rubbed her head. 

“You can tell I’m not feeling good huh?” Siana giggled as she kissed the top of its head. “Well a lot happened today and it scared me…I hope nothing goes wrong in the future…” 

Siana dozed off in no time from exhaustion. The kitten stared at her for a few seconds and then went to the other end of the bed. 

A thin layer of clouds formed around it and when it cleared, the kitten had turned into a young boy who seemed around the age of 7. He had the same white hair with some black patches and wore rather normal clothes. 

He was a half-human-cat, they could change their forms and transform into humans whenever they wanted. Kai had been around her observing her for the past 3 years and today was the first time he had changed his form and it was all because of the dark energy that he felt around her. It scared him and he didn’t dare touch her in his human form cause of how strong it was. 

He closed his eyes and concentrated. He was using telepathy to talk to someone. 

“Your majesty…we might have to do something, it seems like the time has come…the princess’s life is in danger.” He said to that person as he talked to the queen, Siana’s mother who had been in hiding for a very long time. 

“I really hope I get help from a protector soon cause I won’t be able to handle them myself…” Kai said to himself as he sighed deeply. Siana’s condition concerned him cause her mood was also getting the affected cause of the dark energy around her. 

*8 hours earlier*

“I like you so much, Ana…” Oh, that nervous smile on her face…Verona liked her too!!

Siana stood in the middle of a flower valley as she listened to that confession and jumped into the arms of the girl she had loved ever since the start of elementary school. At the age of 13, Siana finally heard a confession and couldn’t control her happiness. 

The sunlight made her dark blonde hair shine golden. She looked so bright just like her personality and that smile made her look the prettiest. Siana just wanted to drown in those blue eyes of hers. 

“I like you too!” Siana cried as she replied to that confession and kissed the girl she loved the most.

The library was quiet and Siana sat in the place that she already was in. Her head rested against the bookshelf as she slept soundly. There was no one around her and it had been about an hour since she had been crying and having a mental breakdown in the arms of a strange girl. 

Siana smiled unconsciously as she remembered her again…her first love. The girl who had made her feel the happiest, who was her home and safest place. Also, the girl who had broken her heart into pieces and disappeared from her life with no word. It had been 5 years and yet, she couldn’t forget about her and still hoped she’d come back. 

Her phone buzzed suddenly and Siana snapped back into reality. She woke up feeling drowsy and tired, it took her a minute to realize where she was and what had happened earlier. 

Siana felt scared that the guy was still around and he’d hurt her, she panicked for a second. But when she saw no one around, she felt calmed and sat back down again. Slowly, she focused on her memory and started to remember everything. She got up and looked around to find the girl who had been there but she saw no one. For a second, Siana almost believed that it was all her illusion and that there was never any girl who comforted her. 

The alarm on her phone was for a lecture and she was getting ready to leave the library. However, just as she was about to pick up her bag, she noticed something. There was a new ring on her bag, it was a thin band with a small blue gemstone in it. Siana’s heart almost dropped as she saw it…

The blue gemstone had always been Siana’s favorite and that’s why she had given it to Verona on her birthday as a promise ring. Siana had a pink gemstone ring that always remained on her ring finger. 

But the big question was…where did this band come from? Was Verona back? Was she the girl who had comforted her? If yes then why did she choose to disappear like this? Why did she leave without a word 5 years ago and was still doing the same thing?

Only they both knew about the rings and they were custom-made, so Siana couldn’t be wrong. It was indeed Verona’s but then why did she leave it here and choose to disappear? Was it a sign that they were done and she’d never come back to Siana…?

Several questions filled Siana’s head as she held that band in her hand and ran around the library looking for her. Her heart filled with anxiety as she felt like she was going to lose her again after being so close to her. She had a strong feeling that Verona was around but the more she ran, the higher her anxiety got cause she couldn’t see anyone. 

Finally, she came to a stop as she reached the entrance of the library, the only area where she hadn’t looked. Her breath started to get unstable cause of how panicked she felt and she started to feel a little dizzy. She looked around multiple times but saw no one. 

Siana almost gave up as more time passed with her seeing no one and she turned around to walk away when she heard footsteps and her heart stopped beating…

~World setting of the book~

-Royal family- 

They have the purest blood and it gives indescribable powers to vampires and werewolves. For centuries, the royals have protected themselves, hidden away if in danger, and killed several vampires and werewolves to protect their bloodline. Their blood holds the power to save anyone’s life but if taken without their consent, the royal blood dies. They have been chased by both vampires and werewolves in lust for more power and immortality. 

-Protectors-

They are the knights of the Royal family. Once the royal family saves someone’s life voluntarily, the person becomes their protector no matter what kind of a living being it is- a vampire, feral, or werewolf. They have to obey the royal family no matter what the orders are and their life duty is to protect them till they die. 

-Vampires-

The vampires in this book are immortals and they look for royal blood to get more powerful and have the ability to revive themselves whenever they want to. They also get the ability to control people and hypnotize them if they get royal blood and end their lives with just a bite for it makes their bites poisonous. 

-Werewolves-

The werewolves change forms on full moon nights and seek for blood to replenish their thirst. They seek for royal blood to change their forms whenever they wish to and to not be controlled by the energy of the red moon. They have to mate with someone on a red moon night and if they do, they can’t break off the bond for their whole lifetime. The royal blood makes them immortal as well and gives them healing and killing abilities. 

-Ferals-

Feral is a term used in this book for half-human-half-animal living beings. They don’t seek royal blood for it gives them no powers at all. It is up to them, if they want to work for the vampires or werewolves or if they want to be protectors of the Royal blood. They are not as powerful as the others, however, if taken under the wings of royal blood they do become useful tools and become more powerful.
