Danielle's POV I kept running without looking back. I took my left and ran inside the woods which were very close to the warehouse. I still heard gunshots. Where is everyone? What happened? I rested on a tree and looked at the warehouse. I have come this far. I eased my breath and regulated my breathing. One…two…three…nobody's dying, nothing is happening to them in the woods. I kept running, dodging every fallen tree or branch. The sounds of gunshots echoed through the woods, breeding more fear in me. The way I ran made it look like I had been practicing how to run in the woods for a very long time. With extinct determination, I made my way into the warehouse unnoticed. Most of the guards had gone into the woods to see what was happening. This is all my fault, I won't be able to forgive myself if anything happens to anyone. I tiptoed into the dark warehouse. A very uncomfortable smell came from the warehouse. I looked around, making sure not to make any sound
Bryan's POVThe kids called me into a dark hallway, hushing me every time I tried to speak. When we got to a more silent place. They let go of my arms and murmured among themselves. I cleared my throat and looked at them.“hmm, about where mom went with uncle, I heard she was trying to go to see somewhere,” Ella, the one with my eyes spoke.I bent down and looked at them, “what do you mean?” I asked.Mila played with my shirt buttoning and unbuttoning the wrist. “Last night, mom and uncle were in the room together overnight, they were talking about how to attack a place and save someone named Clara.”“She's not sure though, I’m not sure Mom would ever go somewhere without telling us,” Lila said.Danielle was in the room alone with Gabriel? Why did I find that more threatening than the fact that they went to look for someone? Wait, I need to think more about it. “Is something bothering you, Bigger Uncle?” Ella asked. When I looked up, I found them staring at me with so much worry wri
Bryan's POV "Danielle?" I called out again. I walked rapidly, scattering anything I found on the way. My thoughts kept drifting to Danielle, is she dead? What should I do? Was she shot? I shook my head and walked further. Then I found her, with one other girl and a man lying on the ground. Seeing that she was still sitting upright brought a big calm to my mind. It was as if I had been saved from drowning in an ocean. I sighed in relief, "you're alive," I said and approached them. Her head was facing the ground while the other lady who turned out to be Clara knelt beside her. The scene wasn't getting as reassuring as it was when I realized she was alive. Alive but not moving. "She's injured, I think she passed out," Clara said. Injured? This is my fault, I should have come earlier instead of sitting in the car and contemplating. "Can you stand up?" I asked Clara and she nodded. "Good." I carried Danielle princess style and headed for the door. I let my guard down, we were alre
Danielle's POV I opened my eyes slowly, trying to clear off my blurry vision. My head hurts, my body aches. I could hear the sounds of my kids playing around. When I finally opened my eyes totally, I looked around and nothing was familiar. Where am I? I could still hear the chuckles of my kids but they were nowhere to be found. I was in a room, painted white. Almost everything in the room was white. Am I dead? Is this paradise? Or this heaven? If so, why doesn't it look like anything we were taught on earth? I sat up and found a drip connected to one of my veins on the back of my left hand. Am I sick in heaven? I wasn't making any sense. I managed to sit up and put my feet on the ground. "Mila? Ella? Lila?" I called out. I can't be dead, I can't be hearing things. I have kids to protect and I still have a life to live. What exactly happened out there? The last thing I remembered was that I was attacked with Clara beside me. There was a gunshot…that was all. Was I shot? I ch
Danielle's POV The kids weren't talking to me anymore. I guess Ella went somewhere else because she wasn't in the room with me. The atmosphere in the house was awkward, I've not felt that way for a very long time. Although Mila and Lila were in the bed tucked into the duvet at the other end of the bed and everywhere was silence, I could feel the heavy and strong despise in the air. I sat up and went back to the sitting room. The time was a few minutes past midnight, everyone should be asleep. It's the perfect time to sit alone by myself and think about what to do…or what I have done. I grabbed a bottle of water from the freezer in the kitchen. When I got to the sitting room, the television was on and Ella was sleeping on the couch with her head on Bryan's lap. I crept back into the shadows and observed more. He was running his hands through Ella's hair and she was sleeping soundly. They make a great team, seeing them together is such an interesting view. Daughter and father, and
Bryan. As the gods would have it, Danielle didn't pull back. Her fists on my pajamas were strong and her kiss was filled with pleasure. She was speaking silent words to me but I still couldn't grab it. I ached for her, I wanted more of this and that. I want to have her and take her to the whole world. Sliding my hands through her back and getting a hold of her waist, she rested on the couch without breaking the kiss. Her hands left my dress and found their way to my hands. Her gentle massage and caress made me at ease. I have her at my disposal, she is all mine now. I caressed her and tried to cup her breasts with my hand but I couldn't. Her soft moans of pleasure were driving me insane. I stopped her and stared into her eyes. These eyes…I've seen them before, somewhere I cannot remember. Her gray eyes looked more familiar than they had ever been since I knew her. "What is wrong?" She asked. "Did I do something wrong?" I shook my head and sat up. "I don't want to go any fur
Danielle's POV Clara was the first person I met at home when I got home. She threw herself at me, making a loud noise as if she had never seen me before. "I can't believe you're back. We searched everywhere for you but we couldn't find you. I thought you weren't coming back here again." "Geez Clara, you thought I wasn't coming back? You must have been waiting, how long have you been here?" Her hand scratched the back of her neck behind her black hair. "I don't know, I've been here for too long though, about two to three weeks." Her face straightened. "Aww D, it's so nice to see you." She hugged me again. "What would I have done if you didn't come for me?" "Who are those?" She asked as my girls went in. They didn't wait to greet Clara, I guess they were still sad about leaving Bryan. To be honest, I wished I hadn't left at all. It's so comfortable. He had everything in need in his kitchen. "D, who are those girls that just walked into your house, did you hire girls to work for yo
Bryan's POV Chapter Seventy-Nine.Bryan. "I want you to check what exactly happened there that day. I know she would only want to tell me the part she wants me to know but I need every detail starting from what Clara did to who and why and who kidnapped her. I want to know every bit of information that has to do with that incident," I said to Jack with my index finger pointed to his nose. It can't be all a coincidence. I trusted Gabriel to keep her safe but I don't think I can do that anymore. Why wasn't he with her? Where did he go? I shook my head and paced around the room like a caged beast on the brick of bursting loose. With my hands on my hips, I wondered who might have made all of those things happen. I paused and stared out the window. Could it be Mark? Did he want to have her for himself with force? "Sir, I'll get back to you tomorrow, very early with every information you need to know. Can I be dismissed?" Jack's voice was deeper than it used to be. "Did you take care
