Chapter 5

She looked at him with so much surprise, her eyes widened. But still hoping that this was some kind of joke! Why would he want to take her and every other thing?

" What do you mean your brother is taking everything including me? Am I part of the deal?" Ana became very furious and at the same time scared, her body shaking non stop upon the shocking news.

Jake's gaze clinged to the ground, frustration written all over him, this was probably the first time that Ana has seen him this paled. "Exactly! Ana! That's why you need to come with me right now!" He expressed, with so much pity in his eyes.

Ana became more terrified when she remembered the stories that were given to her about her cold-hearted brother in-law…. 'If he's making such demands right now, that means  the entire pack will be in trouble under his watch' she thought within herself.

She's not yet over with what her husband did to her yesterday,the betrayal, the one night stand she had with someone she doesn't even know his name, and now this? She feels so heavy, her heart pounding so hard.

It's obvious that this Kane that is famous for his ruthlessness is back to destroy the pack. He wants to rule over everything. Not only that, he wants to take over his brother's wife? 

All of a sudden, the shame and anger that was running through Ana's mind, over her one night stand with a total stranger, vanished completely, she now has a new and bigger problem to face.

Ana looked at Jake, her miserably looking husband, then turned to look at his car parked by the roadside with her stepsister, Katie in it…. Her anger increases as she remembers the betrayal,every time she looks at Katie.

But because Ana loves her pack so much, as the true Luna of the pack, she's saddled with the responsibility to fight for her people, she had no choice but to agree to Jake's plea. 

"Fine! Let's go Jake, I'm only agreeing to go with you, because it's my duty to protect this pack!" She exclaimed, with a firm look on her face.

Jake's face lightened up with that, and he hurriedly walked back to the car while Ana followed him behind. He quickly turned to open the car door next to the driver's side for her, and gestured her into the car.

"Thank you Ana." He said, with a little smile on his face and holding her hands immediately they had both settled into the car. Jake became a complete gentleman, but that didn't impress Ana at all. All she's concerned about is how to confront her ruthless brothers in-law and save their pack from being destroyed by him.

She quickly snatched her hands away from Jake's and sat quietly, lots of things going through her mind and her husband could sense that she was worried about something else.

As they drove down to the pack house, the car was completely quiet, until annoying Katie, Ana's stepsister broke the silence from behind Ana, leaning towards her seat. 

"Ana, I'm so sorry for what happened yesterday. Please, forgive us…. We didn't intend to hurt your feelings, but you can't blame us ... Jake still loves me, and you don't expect him to let your only sister die, right?" Katie said remorselessly! 

Everyone knows that Katie was a very manipulative individual, she wasn't genuinely concerned about her sister.. She was mocking her.

Hearing Katie's disgusting voice alone, caused Ana's Adrenaline rush of anger to boil. "Just shut up, Katie! I don't have your time now. I'll deal with you later!" She warned firmly but calmly, while turning to face her.

Katie was a real drama queen, she expected Jake to say something in her favor, but He was completely absent minded, he kept his focus on driving without even turning back or saying anything. He kept mute without uttering a word.

They drove for what felt like 20 minutes before they arrived at the front of the pack house. Jake parked the car at the pack's house  parking space. As soon as the car was parked, Ana quickly jumped out of the car, she was only trying her best to avoid having any conversation with Katie and even palefaced Jake.

She noticed a big  unfamiliar Lexus Jeep parked in another packing slot. 'This must be Kane's car she thought.

Ana noticed another thing that got her more worried. All the pack members she saw around the pack house, including the elders of the pack, were not happy. Activities were going on as usual, by the pack's servants,but she could read through them that they are scared to have a ruthless man as their Alpha. They love and respect Jake.

"Jake, where is your brother right now?" She inquired, facing towards the Pack's palace.

"Uhm….I think he should still be in the palace, because as at the time I went out looking for you as soon as he came in, I left him there." Jake responded softly with his voice below a whisper, he was still trembling with fear.

"Okay, let's see him, then!" She moved immediately she uttered, trying her best to be in her best behavior and hiding the fear she has …. Leaving behind her cheating husband and his mistress, Katie, who were locking the car doors behind them.

As she walked towards the palace door, her legs felt very heavy and her body was trembling in fear and anxiety the more she moved closer, to make it worse, her Soar body did a very good job in reminding her of last night. She had a one night stand with someone she can't even remember what he looks like. Her mind went back to yesterday's event. 

'I hope I never see his face again…. I hope he's gone forever! Besides, I hold nothing that will remind me of that shameful event…. Thank goodness I tore the paper containing his phone number and didn't attempt to call him!' she thought hopefully in her mind. She felt a bit relieved, believing that no one could ever find out what she had done, not even her husband.

Battling with her regrets and unaware of her steps, she stumbled into her mothers in-law who was standing at the entrance of the palace.

"Watch where you're going, young lady!" Lorraine said, furiously…. She pushed Ana aside.

"Oh. No. sorry mother…. I didn't notice you were standing there." Ana quickly came back to her senses and apologized to her angry mothers in-law, while struggling to take her balance from the push.

"Whatever!" Lorraine responded and rolled her eyes. 

"By the way, where the fuck did you even spent the night? You had to make my son go out this early to look for you!" She demanded,yelling on top of her voice, looking at Ana with suspicion in her eyes. It was as though she could see through Ana and tell that she cheated on her husband.

Because her demands caught Ana offs guard, she began to stammer and search for what to say to make Lorraine believe her.

"Mo…. Mother, I needed to clear my head, so I went to a friend's house, it was late and I decided to spend the night there." 

She responded, but couldn't look her mothers in-law in the eyes, because she didn't tell the complete truth about her whereabouts.

But Lorraine refused to believe Ana, since she hates her, so she grabbed her chin and raised it up as though she could find the answer to her question in Ana's eyes. That hurt Ana's feelings a lot.

"Bitch! Who is this friend of yours that we don't know about?" Lorraine yelled.

"That hurts, Mother…..let me be, please." Ana cried out, trying to release herself from Lorraine's grip but failed.

"Who's your Mother? Maybe you should go and talk to her grave, because I'm not your mother!" With that, she pushed Ana so hard that she almost fell to the floor with her back, but she held on strongly.

Ana became so angry, hearing those hurtful words from Luna, she kept wondering why her mothers in-law would hate her that much, all these years.

Her eyes were tickling with tears that filled her eyes and her heart became heavier, but she did all she could, not to let any drop of tear out, she didn't want to look weak and let Lorraine win.

"Of course, you're not my mother! Because if you were…. You won't treat me this bad! What did I do to deserve this hatred from you, Luna!" Ana gathered the courage for the first time to defend herself from Lorraine's bully.

This caused Lorraine to be more furious.! She raised her right hand, just when she was about to land a heavy slap on Ana's face, thankfully, Jake showed up immediately and rescued Ana.

"That's enough.! Mother! Let her be." Jake warned his mother firmly, and grabbed her hand with his right, while pushing his wife behind him with his left hand.

" But I'm just looking out for you, son! This whore, just made you go out very early in the morning to look for her!"

Ana's anger increased upon hearing her mothers in-laws accusation. She couldn't help but yell back at Lorraine from behind Jake, where she was taking cover.

"You and I know that Jake came looking for me because of the situation at hand, and not because he cares about me ... .Besides, what do you care…. wherever I spend my night?" For the first time, Ana knew that yelling back at Luna would have consequences, but at that moment, she was so angry to think about that.

"It's okay, Ana….. Let's go and confront my brother. This pack needs us right now. Let's go inside and have a meeting with him once and for all!" Jake said calmly, but still looked so worried.

Taking her steps into the palace entrance, Ana's eyes met with Katie's, who was standing beside the big front door with a wicked smirk, playing around the corner of her mouth, showing Ana that she's enjoying every scene.

Ana stepped into the Palace, she took up a single last step and stopped when she saw a male figure, standing and facing the big window with his back facing her, ignoring Jake's footsteps that were following behind her.

She could easily guess that this man should be the ruthless and troublesome Kane, Even without seeing his face. Ana just assumed, since she can't see any other person in the room.

She immediately froze and was shocked as soon as the tall, muscular figure turned to face her. She recognised this man.
