"Let go of me!"
The last thing I remembered was a big hand over my face while I was outside. When I opened my eyes the scene was entirely different from how I remembered it.
My thoughts went hazy as I fell into a state of utter panic, thinking I had been kidnapped, then I realized I was at a hotel and my kidnapper had pressing issues against me.
"I'm telling you, you've got the wrong woman," I yell with irritation and a mix of stress.
"So you could pretend you don't know my master once again?" The man in black argues.
Three hours, three long hours, that's exactly how long we've been arguing about this identity crisis.
"I don't even know you, why would I lie about it?" Huffing for the tenth time as all my strength seems to disappear while arguing with this man.
"Vida, you agreed to a surrogacy contract and after my master paid you, you made away with his money," I was informed.
Worn out I turn towards his master sitting behind him a bit far into the corner where the shadows engulf him.
I doubt I'd ever agree to surrogacy for such an ominous-looking man.
"What?! Surro….? No! I would never agree to such a thing!" Especially not to him, I would like to add, but unfortunately, I feel it's important to walk out with my head.
"Then would you mind explaining this…"
Tucking his hand into his suit pocket, she retrieved a paper and shoved it at my face. I'm a bit hesitant but proceed to open the paper and read the details, however, I'm soon met with a shocking situation when everything in it is exactly my details.
My name, my photo, my former worker's ID, everything, but most importantly the money was sent to Eric who claims to be my brother, and I'm an orphan.
To think he went this far just for money.
"That's not even my signature," I laughed while handing back the paper, "you've been scammed sir, now if you excuse me, I have to go home, this contract is invalid."
"fu*k!"
A roar echoes while I make my way to the door, it's so loud I thought my ears would burst.
He rushes towards me, tossing his bodyguard aside with one push, and I'm startled.
"What the?!" I knew a human when I saw one, and this man was far from one.
I'm cornered to an end, my path blocked by both his arms which thump violently with veins, his breath gets as he stares closely, barely an inch away from me, and then he opens his mouth…
"Mate!"
Mate?! What the fu*k!
Dexter's POV
'No! It can't be!' I tell my wolf with anger and yet he bluntly pushes aside my worries as he claims this girl.
At first, I was unsure, my nose tickled with the sweet scent of lavender and I thought she had a very strong perfume that I could smell so far away but that moment when I saw her reach for the door, my wolf cried out to a woman for the first time.
There must be something wrong, how can our mate be a weak human? I mean look at her, I could accept that she's a human but she's too weak.
I feel her bones would snap at one grip.
'Julio, there's got to be some other human, at least someone stronger than this weakling or a bit influential…'
'No!' He cuts me off violently.
I could feel us draw near to this human as I went into a rut.
Why her? I wonder despite being Mateless for twenty-five years.
Being the Alpha of the Black Moon Path, it's becoming problematic that I'm without a mate, some of my council have already begun plotting my downfall if I reach thirty and be without one.
I've searched for my mate for seven years but couldn't find her, and worse, it's a hidden issue that I've failed to breed with any female who isn't my mate. There's no way I can let words out otherwise they'll overthrow me.
"Excuse me sir, but I have no idea what you're talking about," she yells, putting up a strong front while her body trembles.
'I want her, we must have her,' Julio's resolve strengthens and I begin to growl.
No! I must restrain myself so she wouldn't get hurt for resisting.
Now that I've found her I don't need a surrogate mother anymore.
An heir was the only way I could strengthen my authority, and my council has been pressing on it for a long time, plotting to destroy me if I fail. They forget they're nothing without my strength, it wasn't easy for me to conclude on a surrogate mother, but now I have this human playing mind games with me.
After not getting any feedback from her for a month, I decided to look for my surrogate mother and when I saw her, I instantly felt like having her. I wasn't sure at first but I am now.
"Listen here girl, stop playing games with me, how can someone get all your details correctly and yet you tell me it wasn't you," I ask, my voice already combined with grunts and hot breaths.
"I'm telling you, I didn't sign this, why would I want to give birth to a child for a man I don't know, forget knowing you, I don't like you!"
Her words are like thunderstorms to my wolf as he weakens.
I can hear him whimper, as we're indirectly being rejected without her knowing.
Doesn't she know who I am?
She should be grateful to be my make and bear the child of the richest and youngest Alpha in the country.
"Hey! Watch what you say, lady, otherwise you might just see yourself as a corpse."
Despite my threatening words, I hold back my true desire as my wolf screams, 'I want you,' deep inside.
I want to reach out to her, and hold her tender neck, brush down a little to her collarbone as I watch her shudder with her shy expression and when she thinks it's over, I'll take her and mark her as mine.
But…!
She'll hate me if I do so. I may not be able to overcome being rejected after so many years without a mate.
How…?
Just how do I make you mine Vida?
Vida's POV.The world seems to become unstable the moment he blocks my path with his hands. At first, I tremble from his intimidating aura. Desperate to escape, I do my best to defend myself and clear my name but this stubborn man won't budge."Mate?!" He whispers, staring at me with eyes that yearn.Whatever he means is not my problem, I'm done with werewolves."Look here mister, you can't threaten me for your careless mistake," I warn him as I slouch backwards, careful not to be too close.Everything about this man screams danger, let's not mention his muscular hands look like they'll break me with one grip.My eyes wander to the man behind him and I can't help but feel sorry as I watch the man crawl upwards with his elbow. This man is no joke.'Does he want to kill me? Would he force me to have his child?' I'm beyond confused as I wonder deeply about what could be going on in his mind."Joe," he calls out to his bodyguard who barely manages to get up on his feet. With a cough, he r
Vida’s POV“One night, let’s have s*x for one night, and I’ll settle your grandmother’s hospital bill,” the proud arrogant man says without second thoughts. To think someone would have the balls to say something so embarr*ssing directly without as little as a flinch.I’m uncertain how to react as I stand there moping at him with my brows furrowed in anger from this man offending my dignity, does he see me as a prostitute or something?“Excuse me?” I question as if I had gone deaf, the anger on me all too visible as I dare not hide my emotion from this pervert, “Do I look like a whore to you?”With a scoff, he brushes off my question with a look on his face as if he were asking if I wasn’t, when he notices that I may have caught on to the meaning behind the irritating look on his face, he continues “You need money to treat your sick mother, and I need a woman who will be the mother of my pups,” he answers.“No!” I firmly tell him without a second thought. He flinches, his eyes staring
Vida's Pov"Here, the money you wanted," was the first thing I said the moment I reached the hospital. No good morning, no he11o, no questions, absolutely nothing.I'm drenched in sweat, my chest going in and out as I try my best to catch my breath after running to the hospital as soon as Julio paid me for last night.Nothing bothers me more than the call I received this morning which had me running straight to the hospital and I believe I may have outran the cars that drove by this morning. The nurses at the front desk weren't smiling, with looks of frustration on their faces while they shook their heads as if another burden had arrived. My heart can't help but feel as if I'm being stabbed by needles.Out of the three at the front desk, one of them heaves a heavy sigh and finally makes eye contact with me.Her eyes seem to hold no feelings whatsoever towards me, just like a professional who's done this many times.I can sense that I won't like to hear what she has to say, and yet…"M
Dexter's povHaiz~My head is heavy from clouded thoughts, I find it difficult to concentrate on watching yesterday's news. Now I've become the wealthiest and strongest Alpha there is on the planet, and yet I feel incomplete because I'm still without a mate."Why am I still thinking about that ungrateful woman," I groan, clenching hard on the wine gl*ss in my hand so that it shatters to dust, dropping from the 20th floor from where I resided.I look ahead, overlooking the city view with the world at my fingertips thanks to the wealth and power I've achieved in the last four years after that woman disappeared."How dare she!" I mutter with boiling rage, clenching hard against my teeth as I ball my hand into a fist.Everyone wants me now, every human woman, and every she-wolf and yet, a common woman with nothing to her name dares to run away from me.My wolf has been yearning non-stop, to the point where it's weakening me from the inside."After all I gave her, she suddenly disappears,
Dexter's PovWords cannot express how confused I feel as I stare at my Beta.I'm not even sure how I should scold him for being deceived by children, especially one claiming to be mine.At first, it sounded like a dream but realising how frustrated I am, I can hardly call this a dream."How's that even possible? You let two kids tell you who they are?" I yell in his face as the anger welling up inside me finally explodes."No Alpha," George tells me with a completely lost smile.I'm not even sure why I have him around me when he's making me feel like I'm a laughing stock."Well, then what is it?""To be honest Alpha, I didn't want to believe them before but you see…"Ah, there it is again, George's unbeatable record for keeping someone waiting. It's beginning to irritate me seeing how cat's got his tongue, if he was unwilling to say anything then I'm more than willing to help."Out with it dammit!""They look like you Dex!" for a second I pause and take a step back.It is the first ti
"Where's the wretched woman who dares to touch my son," bearing the door of the principal's office, I hear the voice of a woman echo loudly that it has me frowning at her attempt to explode my ear drums. Moreover, the fact that she's here in the principal's office where I should be bothers me a whole lot."Ma'am please calm down," instantly I recognized the second voice as the homeroom teacher who called me earlier. The homeroom teacher says, desperately trying to appease the nagging woman.Upon nearing the office window, I look through and find the woman all dolled up in expensive brands, everything about her spelling out her wealth. Her arms are folded as she turns away to avoid listening to anyone's pleas, her face rubbed with lots of makeup. It's not just the homeroom teacher trying to beg her, but even the principal and her secretary and that baffles me a whole lot."Are you listening to yourself, if you don't make sure to expel that child then I'll have no other option than to w
"Dexter, what are you doing here?"I'm speechless and stunned as I stand, gaping in awe from the sight before me.My heart pounds a million times, my thoughts running haywire because I find it hard to process anything at this point. How?How did we end up meeting this way?If anything, I feel more pitiful than ever, watching him draw near with another man falling behind, and I can already sense that even he is someone beyond my reach.Dexter, looking as terrifying as ever walks over towards me but then we cross paths and he has me stand behind him, but not before our eyes cross and I find him staring at me like he was going to kill me."Ah… Mr Dexter… it's a surprise to have you here, but may I ask why you're here," the principal rubs her hand politely as she rushes towards him.I can see my enemy quiver in fear with cold sweat spilling down her face and her legs wobble like a warm."That's not a question you should be asking, I'm here because I got some information that someone's cau
Seeing a pouch of papers seated on my thighs, I quiver at the mere thought of knowing what is written inside.“Pick it up,” Dexter orders once again, causing me to flinch from fear.Unwillingly, I reach for the brown envelope and open it, a bunch of papers come falling out which I catch with my hand blocking the opening of the paper. At once, my brows furrow as I come in contact with something quite troubling and my heart starts to race.“This…” I look at Dexter with a long face, the words refusing to leave my mouth as my expression begs him to spare me from seeing what is in the envelope, but he gives me a cold shoulder and stretches out his hand.Slowly he takes the papers away from my hand, and takes off the envelope, delivering a bundle of white papers in my hands.“Now, read it,” he orders.Test…Test…Tests…All the papers are test results, and it’s much worse than I feared it to be.My birth certificate, my blood group, my health, and everything relating to me are on the papers
Dexter's POVKnock knock!!"Alpha, it's time to go." I'm told.Never have I ever felt this ready for anything in my entire life as I brace myself for whatever would happen behind that door.I take a deep breath, calming my nerves, and check myself in the mirror one more time."Come on Papa. You look dashing already, let's go, we can't keep Mama waiting forever, she'll die of boredom," Neo scolds me.Rather than Vida, it feels as if the ones truly bored are my two tricksters with Neo sighing repeatedly and Ash pacing to and fro the room.I raise my hand in surrender, "All alright, I'm all ready, we can go now," I tell them."Finally," the both of the chorus as they hurry up on their feet and run out the door. It's been a month since the war, and everything seems to be going smoothly for us. Today, Vida and I were finally going to tie the knot after much difficulty.I didn't need to suck up to anyone, nor did I need their approval to do as I please. The problem of a human Luna died the
Dexter's POVThe news hit like a hurricane, a revelation that left the pack in disbelief.Vida, once our Luna, had allied herself with the rogues—the very enemies who had stained our history with blood, the ones responsible for the loss of our grandparents. The pack's confusion mirrored the turmoil within me, torn between duty and the remnants of a love that had seemingly crumbled.Ash and Neo, the innocent casualties of our unravelling saga, clung to the hope that their mother had been coerced, that she was still the woman they loved.Their eyes, mirrors of the pain etched across their faces, pleaded with me to take them to her—to see her, to understand. But the weight of betrayal hung heavy on my shoulders, and I insisted that Vida, in her newfound allegiance, was to be treated as an enemy. As the moon rose, casting an eerie glow upon the battleground, the rogues attacked our borders with a ferocity that mirrored the storm within our hearts.I, Dexter, my eyes a reflection of the pa
The night hangs heavy with anticipation as the black moon casts its mysterious glow upon the werewolf realm. After Dexter marked me, I felt the steady pulse of newfound strength coursing through my veins. What began as a subtle shift in my abilities evolved into something extraordinary, something that left even the elders in awe.The packed council, their eyes filled with a mix of trepidation and wonder, gathered to discuss my unprecedented powers.Controlling consciousness was a gift, or perhaps a curse, that surp*ssed the known limits of our kind. A human marked by a werewolf, an anomaly in our ancient traditions. They saw it as an opportunity, a chance to elevate the Black Moon Pack to heights unseen. In the weeks that followed, my connection with Dexter deepened. We shared more than just thoughts; we shared emotions, sensations, and dance of souls intertwined. Mindlinking with children and Dexter was just the beginning. Now, I could extend my influence further, manipulating the th
Vida's PovI listen with rapt attention to every bit of Dexter's story and I come to realise that the wolves I saw that day were not Dexter, rogues and I have carried that narrative in my head for years. As I try to process all that he said, I get hit by a suddenly intoxicating wave which has me shuddering for seconds. I look at Dexter and everything that happened that night flushes into my brain like a tidal wave, and I have a quick seizure that makes me remember every action that took place two years ago.Dexter is right, everything he said is exactly the way it happened.“Humph..” a gasp flies out of me as I feel a hand touching me.“Vida, are you okay?” Dexter asks, his eyes busy scrutinising my face.Perhaps, he got scared when he saw the pains my eyes held. “Yes, I am fine,” I say, blinking out tears. But the surprise on my face never left, my head is roaming with questions and I'm trying to look normal so he doesn't start worrying all over again. How could I have imagined that
Dexter's PovIt was a really cold evening. I was just getting out of the shower when I heard a loud bang on my door, and when I opened it was my father's beta. His face was clouded with worry when I looked at him but he pulled me out before I could open my mouth to say anything.he11, I was only in my bathing robe.“Come, you have to stop your father's madness.” That was all he said to me and I followed him to my father's chambers. My father, the then Alpha, was taken aback when he saw me. “What is this nonsense, Gabriel? I told you not to involve the boy!” He lashes at his Beta but I am not driven from my confusion.“What is going on Father? What madness was my uncle talking about?” I finally bring myself to ask but he ignores me.“Gabriel, take the boy out now that I ask nicely–”“I am not a boy, father!” I am forced to shout. “I am fourteen, please tell me what is going on?!”He sighs deeply and as I stare at him I see the scars engraved in his face. He walks past me and goes to hi
Dexter's Pov.“I... I never stopped loving you, Vida,” I confess. She gulps at me with unwritten emotions. Her hand slips out of mine and the look that follows is one full of doubts and worries.I take her hand again, patting it softly. "I'm sorry it had to take me this long to confess my feelings for you." The words have barely left me when she snatches her hand again, giving me a faux look.“You can't buy your way in like this, Dexter. Don't you think there are things you should apologize for?!”"I love you, Vida. Don't I look miserable enough?"“No! I can not accept your love, Dexter. You have to say the right words, 'cause I'm honestly not buying this..”“You were the one that left me! You freaking left me and that has always kept me on the edge!!”“You killed my parents.” She reveals her grudge, shockingly.Confusion spreads on my face like wildfire. Of course, I've heard the rumors but it has never occurred to me that she would think I did so.“Did you believe that? It was just
Vida's PovA white blurry light wakes my spirit and as I open my eyes, surprise overwhelms me seeing my dead parents smiling at me weakly.Instantly, tears break down from my eyelids, flowing freely from my eyes. My lips try to form words but I cannot bring myself to say anything as I am feeling so sorry for them.Ever since I lost my parents I have never seen their faces appear to me in my dreams.Does this mean I am dead and they are sad to welcome me?My head is bursting with questions and all I can do is cry, feeling so guilty for my choice. I should never have accepted Silas's, I should never have had anything to do with him, and now I am full of regrets.“My child,” I hear a voice but I'm finding it hard to believe that it's real.My breath hangs in the air as I glance at her sharply, "Mom?" I hiss under my breath and she speaks again.“Vida, do not regret because we are always with you.” My mom says, her voice echoing all around me."Mom!" I scream in delight but not after some
Vida's Pov“sh*t!" I hiss gruffly as I kick the chair aggressively.“Silas!!" I yell his name but the room is just as silent as it had been. Not wanting to panic yet, I let my eyes take in every corner of the room and noticed a red substance at the far end.It isn't that obvious but as I take a closer look I notice that it's blood, I couldn't take my eyes away from it and it starts to get into my head.“What do I do?! Nothing's working!” I let out a tiny yelp.Again, I try to wriggle myself out of the chains but who am I kidding? The chains are heavily guarded by a key.Code sweat breaks down my forehead as the realization of me dying alone in this abandoned warehouse hits me. I couldn't sit back and watch, expecting help to get to me like a Disney princess, I had to do something.“But what do I do? How do I get out of this mess?!" By this time tears had started gathering in my eyes.“Silas you two timing b*st*rd! You will rot in he11!” I shout angrily, smacking my teeth like one who'
I regained consciousness to find myself bound to a cold, rusty beam in a dimly lit warehouse. The last I remembered was Silas begging me to talk to him an hour ago.I had foolishly agreed to meet him, thinking that it was an opportunity to finally put an end to our relationship. While in the car, I had questioned where we were goingBut Before I could react, Silas lunged towards me, his hand clamping over my mouth.I remembered the panic that had surged through me as I fought against his grip, my muffled cries for help echoing in the vehicle. But my struggles were in vain as the world around me blurred, and darkness consumed my consciousness.Panic gripped me once again as I realized the gravity of the situation. My heart pounded in my chest, matching the rhythm of the distant sounds of traffic that seeped through the dilapidated walls.I strained against my restraints, desperately trying to free myself, but Silas's knots were tight, leaving me helpless. As my eyes adjusted to the dim
