"Where's the wretched woman who dares to touch my son," bearing the door of the principal's office, I hear the voice of a woman echo loudly that it has me frowning at her attempt to explode my ear drums.
Moreover, the fact that she's here in the principal's office where I should be bothers me a whole lot.
"Ma'am please calm down," instantly I recognized the second voice as the homeroom teacher who called me earlier.
The homeroom teacher says, desperately trying to appease the nagging woman.
Upon nearing the office window, I look through and find the woman all dolled up in expensive brands, everything about her spelling out her wealth.
Her arms are folded as she turns away to avoid listening to anyone's pleas, her face rubbed with lots of makeup.
It's not just the homeroom teacher trying to beg her, but even the principal and her secretary and that baffles me a whole lot.
"Are you listening to yourself, if you don't make sure to expel that child then I'll have no other option than to withdraw my child and then stop sponsoring the school events," the woman yells.
I shake my head, recognizing that they're speaking to a woman who's yet another proof that money makes people power drunk.
Just as I approach the door I spot Ash and Neo outside, sitting calmly on the bench waiting for me and hurrying to my boys, the homeroom teacher spotting me as well.
"Mama!" Neo calls out with teary eyes as he hurries to my embrace.
Clack!
The door shuts and their teacher walks in, Sam as I usually call her walks out of the principal's office with a very awful look on her face as she sighs heavily.
"What's going on?" I ask.
"Ash punched a kid for calling him and Neo a b*st*rd," Sam explains in a dry tone.
I feel my anger boil, if I'm not wrong that barking lady just be the mother of the kid with the foul mouth.
"And that woman dares to talk bad about my kids," I yell out, marching towards the principal's door to come face to face with this crazed woman.
"Please Vida, don't make a screen, that's what we're trying to resolve now," she begs me, tailing as I reach the office to meet with the child's mother.
The both of us come face to face with each other and she stares at me, scanning my worth from head to toe and then scoff, her nose twitches as if she smells something foul and then she draws near.
"Are you the mother of these savages?" Is the first word she asks.
The mention of savages has me reach out to the woman to show her what a true savage is but I'm immediately held back by Sam, but I do manage to strike some fear in her as she turns pale.
Regaining my composure I take deep breaths and approach her more…
Less than gentle as I go hard on her with my words.
"I believe I should be calling you a savage because no mother would let their kids utter such a savage word as a b*st*rd," I responded.
The woman, whoever she is looks taken aback that her words hang on her throat and for a few seconds all she does is laugh but no one laughs with her to which her smile dims.
"Miss Vida, please calm down," the principal tells me as she shows me a seat next to this violent woman.
"Calm down?" I repeat.
Quickly I head outside and get my boys to join in on the conversation especially since Mrs Luxury has her child with her, showing everyone his blue eye.
I turn to Neo because knowing Ash he wouldn't say anything even if his life depended on it.
"No, tell us what happened."
Neo, trembling, catches a hold of his shirt and just like me when I'm nervous, he rubs his sweaty palms as he tries to put his words together.
"Well Taylor wanted my toy but he didn't ask and just took it, and…, and Neo got upset ask asked for it but Taylor didn't want to give it a bag so Taylor took it from him and then… and then… Taylor called us Neo, and me, bas…yard, that's when Neo pushes and punched him."
"Hear that ma'am, my boys would never lie," I sound with an agitated glare directed towards her.
"Well you can't blame my son, he's not lying, aren't your children b*st*rds? Your child is just paying for your mistake," she says surprisingly.
Ah! This woman has a thing for making people get angry.
With a sarcastic smile, I walk over to her gently and smile sarcastically as I pat her back, "You know what, maybe you're right, I can see where your kid got that nasty sn*ke-like attitude, you're quite immature for a mother, could be the that you're surrounded by hypocrites for friends.
You could be paying for your mother's sins as well, which is why I would advise you to tell your son not to turn out like you if he doesn't want to be hated like you."
Just like that, I watch as her anger boils, "watch your mouth you wench," she yells, raising her fist in the air to strike me down, but I catch hold of it quickly and push her away.
"Miss Vida please calm down," the Principal who's been quiet up until now finally speaks much to my disappointment, "Miss Sam, please escort Miss Vida out and have a word with her."
"Yes ma'am."
"What's going on, why are you taking that crazy woman's side," I lash out as soon as we get away from the office.
Sam signals me to lower my voice as she begins to speak in whispers.
"Look, Vida, I call you Vida 'cause you're my friend and I love your kids because of how sweet they are and care for each other but please can we overlook this matter just once?"
I frown with anger and step back refusing to believe my ears.
"No! That woman needs to learn to start speaking like her age, how dare she call it right to raise her kids that way," I tell her.
"I understand but," once again Sam draws near and holding me by the shoulder, she whispers, "She's no ordinary woman, she's the wife of the mayor and the PTA chair lady, she sponsors all of the events, if she gets angry and pull her child out from this school, I believe all the teachers will lose their jobs."
"Ah, so that's why?"
Nodding my head, I take some time to process my thoughts, when I decided to leave my country, I vowed not to let people trample on me ever again, so I worked hard to make sure I don't end up that way again.
I can't let my kids bow before one arrogant woman and her unlikable son.
"Please Vida, just apologise and turn away this once please," Sam begs with her hands together.
"Ha! I didn't think you'd suggest this, to make me appear weak before my kids," I laugh, but I know, deep within me, that feeling of being helpless throbs me.
"Pfft," I hear a laugh from behind me.
I turn around to find that arrogant woman who's at the door, I didn't know when she left the office but I hate that she's looking down on me.
"What, now why are you laughing?" I ask.
"To think a woman wearing a cheap top would be permitted to have her children taught here," she stupidly responds.
I'm filled with irritation to see women and people like this be parents to children, I'm not even sure they're qualified for the name, parents.
"Education is for all so long as you can afford it, even if that child is an orphan, you don't own this school, if you want to then go build your own," I tell her.
"Vida!" Sam yells my name, begging me from behind.
"Now watch it," the woman says, my words getting through to her from the looks of it, "if you don't apologize I'll make sure you lose your job."
Lose my job?!
What does she think I do that makes her believe she can fire me?
With a mischievous grin I turn from Sam to face her and answer, "Oh believe m,e, I'll make sure you go through all the legal procedures to make sure people like you are reduced to nothing."
"Try me!"
"Please stop!" Ash's voice echoes.
My little boy, standing between us looks terrified and has his eyes red and swollen from crying, to think I argued before my boys, "I'm the one who punched Taylor, I'm the one who should apologize so please stop fighting," he cries.
"Ash!" My heart aches more seeing how helpless I am once again.
I hate that I'm unable to keep to my word.
"If I apologize, would you leave my mum alone?" Ash begs.
"I'll forgive you all if you kneel and plead," the woman says.
I try to stop Ash but Sam holds me back, shaking her head as she begs me for the sake of the teachers.
Ash gets on his knees and begs.
I close my eyes with tears pouring, I can't bare to look at this scene.
"What's this?!"
A familiar frightening voice yells from behind us.
"Dexter?!" I say in disbelief.
Dexter approaches us with a heavy frown on his face, a man also behind him looks like someone far from our reach.
"Who dares to make my kids kneel?!" Dexter says and immediately, everyone in the room is put on a standstill. Nobody dares to move or speak.
But what is he doing here?
"Dexter, what are you doing here?"I'm speechless and stunned as I stand, gaping in awe from the sight before me.My heart pounds a million times, my thoughts running haywire because I find it hard to process anything at this point. How?How did we end up meeting this way?If anything, I feel more pitiful than ever, watching him draw near with another man falling behind, and I can already sense that even he is someone beyond my reach.Dexter, looking as terrifying as ever walks over towards me but then we cross paths and he has me stand behind him, but not before our eyes cross and I find him staring at me like he was going to kill me."Ah… Mr Dexter… it's a surprise to have you here, but may I ask why you're here," the principal rubs her hand politely as she rushes towards him.I can see my enemy quiver in fear with cold sweat spilling down her face and her legs wobble like a warm."That's not a question you should be asking, I'm here because I got some information that someone's cau
Seeing a pouch of papers seated on my thighs, I quiver at the mere thought of knowing what is written inside.“Pick it up,” Dexter orders once again, causing me to flinch from fear.Unwillingly, I reach for the brown envelope and open it, a bunch of papers come falling out which I catch with my hand blocking the opening of the paper. At once, my brows furrow as I come in contact with something quite troubling and my heart starts to race.“This…” I look at Dexter with a long face, the words refusing to leave my mouth as my expression begs him to spare me from seeing what is in the envelope, but he gives me a cold shoulder and stretches out his hand.Slowly he takes the papers away from my hand, and takes off the envelope, delivering a bundle of white papers in my hands.“Now, read it,” he orders.Test…Test…Tests…All the papers are test results, and it’s much worse than I feared it to be.My birth certificate, my blood group, my health, and everything relating to me are on the papers
"Three months," he repeated himself, holding up his three fingers.I'm not sure how to react with this news but I can feel my heart leap for joy and a seed of hope begins to sprout.Still, on my knees, I grab hold of his ankle, clinging to it like a sloth on a tree, refusing to let go under any circumstances."Yes, please, three months is just what I need, I couldn't ask for anything more, just please, at least let me say my goodbye to them," I tell him.Dexter turns his face away, I can see his fist slowly clinch and he clicks his tongue instantly."And how can I trust you, Vida?" He says, even while he stares into the abyss I can see disappointment written over his face.If this were to be in the past, I would think of him as a heartless monster but now, all I can think of is how to get on his good side.Dexter looks at me with a frown on his face, and I can only avoid our eyes from meeting out of guilt."Why… should I trust a woman like you who's good at deceiving?""No… no! I won'
"I can see you kept to your word," Dexter says standing before his car while his men carry our bags inside one of the many cars already lined up.Without a doubt, I understand that it's my fault for his lack of trust, but I'm getting a bit irritated being reminded all the time.Squeezing my face, I led my boys who are a little hostile and bearing frowns on their face to the car.Ash stares daggers at Dexter the moment their eyes meet and Dexter just stares back at him with the same energy until Ash gives up and walks away. Truly, their resemblance is impeccable in many ways."Did you get any bright ideas last night," Dexter asks, grabbing hold of Neo's and Ash's things from my hand.I roll my eyes, stomping my feet angrily behind Dexter as I complain, "I told you, I wasn't planning to run away, so enough with reminding me."He tosses their things at the trunk and closes it, turning abruptly that I'm taking back by how close we are and losing balance, my ankle twists breaking my heels
"Don't be scared boys," Dexter says with a stiff face as he stares at his father."He won't cause you any harm," he promises them both, "that is your grandfather." He says.Looking at Dexter I find that he's neither smiling nor frowning, but hostility surrounds them. The bad blood between them has me worried about how my kids will be treated, but then I remember Dexter saying he loves them. There's no way he'd sit back and watch them get mistreated. With his arm placed on each of their shoulders, he gives them a boost, pushing them forward towards the cranky-looking man. After a long pause, a brave Ash takes a step forward and I see him gulp but then hold Neo by the hand the two walk towards the man, but then he stops, Neo turns around, and he's shaken by the cold face the man's putting on."Grandpa?" Neo asks Dexter almost as if he's trying to cross-check."Yes, now be good boys and go greet your grandpa," he says to them, and once again they begin to moveFinally, they reach him, th
“Woah~”With glittering eyes and drool, Neo, Ash and I stare at the lavish meals on the table, unsure where to start, my hunger is eradicated just from the delicious aroma evaporating into my stomach.“Can we eat all of these?” he asks Dexter.Dexter chuckles, he reaches out for a knife on the table and cuts a slice of cake for each of them. Despite the frown on my face he turns to the other side and proceeds to feed them with sugar while my eyes twitch.“Everything here is for you to enjoy, it’s your welcome gift,” he answers them and quickly they glow with glee, “now don’t hold back your appetite, I’m pretty sure the both of you must be starving after going to bed rather early,” he tells them.“Uh-huh,” Neo answers, his eyes fixated on the cake as he nods with a giggle. “Yes, thanks for the meal,” he says rushing to chomp down his slice, same with Ash.Speaking of which, Ash looks rather gloomy, he’s fondling his fork, poking the cake with a long face that I’m puzzled about what see
“Please… just for tonight,” they begged me.With the urge to tease them a little, I fold my arms and turn around refusing to spare them any face.“You both have your separate rooms don’t you, so that’s a sign that I should stop reading bedtime stories to you don’t you think? Besides, this is also how you grow up quickly.” I tell them, stealing a peek every now and then to observe the look on their faces to fill my stomach with laughter. My boys glance over at each other while holding out one of their favourite bedtime storybooks, disappointment all over their face, Neo wraps his arms around the book and pouts.“I don’t wanna grow up,” Neo says, his eyes teary as he starts to whimper, “I just want a bedtime story,” he tells me, his tears already getting the book wet.Plop!I feel my bed press down and turn to find Ash who’s helped himself on the bed, “if you won’t be telling us a story then I’ll stay here with you,” my grumpy young man says, staring off into the far end as he murmurs.
“And that is why werewolves need their symbol, their symbol represents their identity and status,” Dexter says to the kids, their eyes are lit from excitement after listening to their father turn the history of the werewolves into a bedtime story.Neo begins to yawn, his arms and legs stretched as he cuddles warmly under the blanket, I prepare to take over from Dexter who’s slowly rising from the bed.“But papa,” Ash calls out, holding onto the hem of Dexter’s shirt and tugging him until Dexter sighs before he turns to face, “earlier, grandpa mentioned an Omega and you did so too in your story, so I was wondering if we’re omega’s doesn’t that mean we’re inferior,” he asks.At that moment, Dexter and I exchanged glances with a look of shock on our faces, we were not prepared for that question.“Sweetheart…” I call out to Ash, ready to put an end to his questions and have him go to bed when his father signals me to stop.He sits back on the bed, his entire weight crushing the bed until
Dexter's POVKnock knock!!"Alpha, it's time to go." I'm told.Never have I ever felt this ready for anything in my entire life as I brace myself for whatever would happen behind that door.I take a deep breath, calming my nerves, and check myself in the mirror one more time."Come on Papa. You look dashing already, let's go, we can't keep Mama waiting forever, she'll die of boredom," Neo scolds me.Rather than Vida, it feels as if the ones truly bored are my two tricksters with Neo sighing repeatedly and Ash pacing to and fro the room.I raise my hand in surrender, "All alright, I'm all ready, we can go now," I tell them."Finally," the both of the chorus as they hurry up on their feet and run out the door. It's been a month since the war, and everything seems to be going smoothly for us. Today, Vida and I were finally going to tie the knot after much difficulty.I didn't need to suck up to anyone, nor did I need their approval to do as I please. The problem of a human Luna died the
Dexter's POVThe news hit like a hurricane, a revelation that left the pack in disbelief.Vida, once our Luna, had allied herself with the rogues—the very enemies who had stained our history with blood, the ones responsible for the loss of our grandparents. The pack's confusion mirrored the turmoil within me, torn between duty and the remnants of a love that had seemingly crumbled.Ash and Neo, the innocent casualties of our unravelling saga, clung to the hope that their mother had been coerced, that she was still the woman they loved.Their eyes, mirrors of the pain etched across their faces, pleaded with me to take them to her—to see her, to understand. But the weight of betrayal hung heavy on my shoulders, and I insisted that Vida, in her newfound allegiance, was to be treated as an enemy. As the moon rose, casting an eerie glow upon the battleground, the rogues attacked our borders with a ferocity that mirrored the storm within our hearts.I, Dexter, my eyes a reflection of the pa
The night hangs heavy with anticipation as the black moon casts its mysterious glow upon the werewolf realm. After Dexter marked me, I felt the steady pulse of newfound strength coursing through my veins. What began as a subtle shift in my abilities evolved into something extraordinary, something that left even the elders in awe.The packed council, their eyes filled with a mix of trepidation and wonder, gathered to discuss my unprecedented powers.Controlling consciousness was a gift, or perhaps a curse, that surp*ssed the known limits of our kind. A human marked by a werewolf, an anomaly in our ancient traditions. They saw it as an opportunity, a chance to elevate the Black Moon Pack to heights unseen. In the weeks that followed, my connection with Dexter deepened. We shared more than just thoughts; we shared emotions, sensations, and dance of souls intertwined. Mindlinking with children and Dexter was just the beginning. Now, I could extend my influence further, manipulating the th
Vida's PovI listen with rapt attention to every bit of Dexter's story and I come to realise that the wolves I saw that day were not Dexter, rogues and I have carried that narrative in my head for years. As I try to process all that he said, I get hit by a suddenly intoxicating wave which has me shuddering for seconds. I look at Dexter and everything that happened that night flushes into my brain like a tidal wave, and I have a quick seizure that makes me remember every action that took place two years ago.Dexter is right, everything he said is exactly the way it happened.“Humph..” a gasp flies out of me as I feel a hand touching me.“Vida, are you okay?” Dexter asks, his eyes busy scrutinising my face.Perhaps, he got scared when he saw the pains my eyes held. “Yes, I am fine,” I say, blinking out tears. But the surprise on my face never left, my head is roaming with questions and I'm trying to look normal so he doesn't start worrying all over again. How could I have imagined that
Dexter's PovIt was a really cold evening. I was just getting out of the shower when I heard a loud bang on my door, and when I opened it was my father's beta. His face was clouded with worry when I looked at him but he pulled me out before I could open my mouth to say anything.he11, I was only in my bathing robe.“Come, you have to stop your father's madness.” That was all he said to me and I followed him to my father's chambers. My father, the then Alpha, was taken aback when he saw me. “What is this nonsense, Gabriel? I told you not to involve the boy!” He lashes at his Beta but I am not driven from my confusion.“What is going on Father? What madness was my uncle talking about?” I finally bring myself to ask but he ignores me.“Gabriel, take the boy out now that I ask nicely–”“I am not a boy, father!” I am forced to shout. “I am fourteen, please tell me what is going on?!”He sighs deeply and as I stare at him I see the scars engraved in his face. He walks past me and goes to hi
Dexter's Pov.“I... I never stopped loving you, Vida,” I confess. She gulps at me with unwritten emotions. Her hand slips out of mine and the look that follows is one full of doubts and worries.I take her hand again, patting it softly. "I'm sorry it had to take me this long to confess my feelings for you." The words have barely left me when she snatches her hand again, giving me a faux look.“You can't buy your way in like this, Dexter. Don't you think there are things you should apologize for?!”"I love you, Vida. Don't I look miserable enough?"“No! I can not accept your love, Dexter. You have to say the right words, 'cause I'm honestly not buying this..”“You were the one that left me! You freaking left me and that has always kept me on the edge!!”“You killed my parents.” She reveals her grudge, shockingly.Confusion spreads on my face like wildfire. Of course, I've heard the rumors but it has never occurred to me that she would think I did so.“Did you believe that? It was just
Vida's PovA white blurry light wakes my spirit and as I open my eyes, surprise overwhelms me seeing my dead parents smiling at me weakly.Instantly, tears break down from my eyelids, flowing freely from my eyes. My lips try to form words but I cannot bring myself to say anything as I am feeling so sorry for them.Ever since I lost my parents I have never seen their faces appear to me in my dreams.Does this mean I am dead and they are sad to welcome me?My head is bursting with questions and all I can do is cry, feeling so guilty for my choice. I should never have accepted Silas's, I should never have had anything to do with him, and now I am full of regrets.“My child,” I hear a voice but I'm finding it hard to believe that it's real.My breath hangs in the air as I glance at her sharply, "Mom?" I hiss under my breath and she speaks again.“Vida, do not regret because we are always with you.” My mom says, her voice echoing all around me."Mom!" I scream in delight but not after some
Vida's Pov“sh*t!" I hiss gruffly as I kick the chair aggressively.“Silas!!" I yell his name but the room is just as silent as it had been. Not wanting to panic yet, I let my eyes take in every corner of the room and noticed a red substance at the far end.It isn't that obvious but as I take a closer look I notice that it's blood, I couldn't take my eyes away from it and it starts to get into my head.“What do I do?! Nothing's working!” I let out a tiny yelp.Again, I try to wriggle myself out of the chains but who am I kidding? The chains are heavily guarded by a key.Code sweat breaks down my forehead as the realization of me dying alone in this abandoned warehouse hits me. I couldn't sit back and watch, expecting help to get to me like a Disney princess, I had to do something.“But what do I do? How do I get out of this mess?!" By this time tears had started gathering in my eyes.“Silas you two timing b*st*rd! You will rot in he11!” I shout angrily, smacking my teeth like one who'
I regained consciousness to find myself bound to a cold, rusty beam in a dimly lit warehouse. The last I remembered was Silas begging me to talk to him an hour ago.I had foolishly agreed to meet him, thinking that it was an opportunity to finally put an end to our relationship. While in the car, I had questioned where we were goingBut Before I could react, Silas lunged towards me, his hand clamping over my mouth.I remembered the panic that had surged through me as I fought against his grip, my muffled cries for help echoing in the vehicle. But my struggles were in vain as the world around me blurred, and darkness consumed my consciousness.Panic gripped me once again as I realized the gravity of the situation. My heart pounded in my chest, matching the rhythm of the distant sounds of traffic that seeped through the dilapidated walls.I strained against my restraints, desperately trying to free myself, but Silas's knots were tight, leaving me helpless. As my eyes adjusted to the dim
