Rose's POV

I forced a weak smile, desperately trying to suppress the rising sickness. "I think I just need some fresh air," I managed to say, my words strained.

"Let us leave you to rest," one of the women said and they all stood up to leave.

"Thank you for coming," Linda and I said to them as we saw them off and after they left, I couldn't help but retch.

"Are you sure you're okay?” Linda asked again and I nodded, "I guess it's pregnancy sickness kicking in."

Linda nodded, understanding evident in her eyes. "Come on, let's step outside. The cool breeze might help."

With gentle support, Linda guided me toward the open door. I stumbled outside, the crisp afternoon air hitting my face, providing a momentary respite from the suffocating feeling that had overwhelmed me.
