CHAPTER 2

Chapter 2

Rolling into her garage, Eliza knew her next obstacle would be her nosy neighbor, who seemed to derive joy and pleasure in annoying her and being all up in her space.

“Oh my, Lizzy. You are back!!”

“It is Eliza, Carol. Not Lizzy.” She corrected. If Eliza had a dollar for everything she was called Lizzy by Carol… she would be rich enough to make her botanist career a remote pleasure job.

Carol waved her off, as she skipped towards her. For a fort five-year-old woman with four kids, Two in the university, one in high school and the last in kindergarten, she sure was a chirpy woman.

Eliza didn’t like it.

“How was bora bora. Did you have fun? I took care of your plants for you.”

Though nosy, Eliza could only be grateful to Carol for one thing, which was the fact that she also shared her love for plants and nature. The only time she loved spending with Carol is when they were talking about plants or when Carol would occasionally buy plants from Eliza for her flower shop.

But besides that…. Eliza disliked Carol, and the woman didn’t seem to take the hint.

“Thank you.” Eliza appreciated. She may not like the woman, didn’t mean she didn’t know when to be appreciative of helps.

“And how did you know I went to Bora Bora?” She added, her eyes laced with suspicion.

“Well, now, You silly goose. You told me.” Carol said, smacking her arm lightly.

Eliza raised her brows at her. That’s a lie. That’s a fucking lie. And Eliza would have argued it out from her, but she didn’t have time. She had a dead man in her back seat.

Well, probably not a dead man, but a partially alive, partially dead man in her back seat.

Wanting to send her away, she turned to the boot of her car and pulled it open.

“This is for you. I got simple chocolates and toys for you and your family.”

“Oh, my, You shouldn’t have Lizzy.” Carol answered with a smile, taking it from her hand. “I am sure Kiki and Collins would love it. Thank you for remembering us during your vacation.” She smiled politely.

“Well then, I will leave you to rest. I am sure that is all you would like to do right now.”

Turning towards the direction of her house, Carol noticed the shuttle to her house roll open and her husband's car came sliding in.

“I guess that is my cue to leave now. Take care, and thank you again for the gifts. I will see you again, tomorrow.”

Eliza bit her tongue as the words. ‘Please don’t!! Stay in your damn house” were about to roll out of her lips.

Eliza waited a bit as Carols husband, Pedro came out of their car, she saw his eyes widened at her arrival and waved at her. Politely, she waved back at him.

In contrast to Carol, Eliza actually liked Pedro, in a respectable way. Which was only because he knew how to mind his damn business, not like his wife.

As simple wave was all she needed. She watched as Carol showed his the package in her hands and pointed to her. And again, he waved back at her, as if telling her thank you for it.

And with that the two couples went inside their house leaving Eliza in the cold night outside, and a partially dead, partially alive man in her backseat.

“Now… Time to take out the body”

Eliza didn’t like the way the words rolled from her lips like she was the one who actually killed the person.

Going to the boot, she pulled out all the luggage and souvenirs she brought back. Arranging them in a line beside the backseat door, She hoped that the make shift barrage was enough to hide the man as she dragged him into the house as there was no way she was going to lift him.

“I would definitely break a spine or a rib, or maybe both if I try that.” Going ahead with her plan, she pulled his two hands out of the car and dragged him to the floor, as she proceeded to drag him across her pavement floor into the house.

Dropping him carelessly on the floor, she went to retrieve her things and immediately locked the doors, shut the curtains and dimmed her light.

“First things first. Let's clean him and see what sort of injury he has”

Dragging him again, she took him to the guest room that was just at the end of the hall. It was convenient for two reasons: One, she wasn’t about to carry a man who probably weighed times three of her, and secondly she didn’t want to take a complete stranger to her room. It didn’t make sense to her.

Dumping him on the floor again, she opened the door and crossed over him and began dragging him by his ankle. Eliza eyed the bed, and then the man and back to the bed.

She let out a frustrated sigh. There was noway she really may have to carry him.

“It is alright, I have carried a sack of potatoes before… But not ten at one though”

After a mocking boost of confidence, Eliza struggled to lift him off the floor to the bed. Huffing and puffing, she had finally placed him on the bed, tummy flat.

Releasing a tired breath, she rolled him properly, placing him on his back. Flicking his temple, she muttered close to his ears hoping he hears her.

“You are heavy, Mr. Man.”

Leaving him, she went to the connecting bathroom in the room and filled in water into a bowl, pulling out wash other and antiseptic.

She smiled evilly, ‘This will definitely hurt.’

Placing everything by the table beside him, she rushed out of the room, into the kitchen and back to the room with a knife in her hands. Walking closer to him, she used the knife and ripped open his shirt.

Eliza let out a gasp as she stumbled back behind her, as the knife dropped from her hands.

“Was it a beast that attacked him?” She asked, her hands placed over her mouth. Slowing walking back to him, she bent to his chest level and stared at the claw marks across his chest.

After minutes of staring Eliza shook her head and stepped back. “I will just give him first aid and call the ambulance.”

Grabbing the bowl she carefully wiped across the chest. She had previously planned to be rough with him bust seeing his wounds, she wasn’t so heartless to do such as thing.

“You were probably in pain before I hit you right?” Eliza muttered.

“I am sorry. I really wasn’t concentrating as I was driving and for that it is definitely y fault.” She spoke calmly to him.

Moving to wipe his face, she quickly went to change the water and came back.

Placing the cloth over his face, she gently dragged it down as the mud and dried blood cleaned with it.

Once his face was completely clean, Eliza brushed his black locks from his face and she paled.

Laying in her guest bed was none other than Kael Blackthorn.
