CHAPTER 27

"I'm pregnant."

A female voice rang out from behind the toilet cubicle. Ruby paused. She didn't intend to eavesdrop on the conversation, but she accidentally overheard the phone conversation of a woman she didn't know.

"It looks like the baby is two weeks old. I only found out last night."

"Honey, I'm happy to hear an answer from you. I thought you rejected it."

"Then I'll see you at the apartment."

The toilet cubicle door opened, and Ruby pretended to turn on the faucet and rinsed her hands. The young woman approached Ruby and then did the same by washing her hands at the sink beside her. Ruby didn't want to ask, but before her lips could speak, the woman had already reprimanded her.

"I heard you throwing up. Are you pregnant too?"

The question thrown at her made Ruby's eyes round perfectly. Of course, she was shocked, then shook her head quickly, thinking she couldn't be pregnant. "No, I'm not. No, I just ate the wrong food," Ruby said quickly.
