Chapter 8 The Real Truth

Jack said he didn't understand what was happening.

I continued to stare at him as I felt a mix of complicated emotions. Still, I knew better than to blame him for it.

I first went to the law firm to get the divorce agreement. Then, I headed to the hospital after listening to the lawyer's advice and taking some precautions.

When Vicky saw me, it was as if she had found a lifeline. She sobbed as she asked where I had been. She said she had only drunk a few sips of water since waking up and hadn't eaten because she had no phone or cash.

Although I had arranged for her to be in a single occupancy room, I hadn't ordered any meals or hired a nurse for her.

After she finished speaking, I slowly laid out the documents I had brought, including her phone.

"Take a look at these. Do they look familiar?"

When Vicky saw the documents, her cries stopped abruptly. She flipped through them in disbelief, as if she didn't do any of them. Then, she asked where I had gotten them.
