MATT POV

Charity dashes up the stairs while I race around trying to clean up the room. Damon and his dad waiting until the upstairs bathroom shuts, before a pissed off alpha comes storming around the corner.

“Of all the fucking places? My god damn couch?” He growls, on the verge of murdering me. “You’re lucky Elle isn’t with me she’d fucking murder you.”

The gleeful laugh of another person distracts me as Charles walks around the corner, eating an entire pecan pie. “Were you left a little blue, my boy?”

I cannot even respond, too stunned to see him upright and talking. No one had expected him to get better after what he’d been through with his ex-mate, Damon’s mom. It wasn’t pretty.

“He’s lucky if blue balls are all he is ends up with.” The alpha growls, while his retired father one shovels more pie in his mouth finding the situation amusing. “Seriously? My couch?” Damon asks again, not letting the subject go.

“At least it’s not blood?” I ask, hands raised, and I swear Damon is about

CHARITY POV In less than twelve hours, our entire world has turned to shit. Theo called when he was outside Nora’s pack, Northern Lakes, and we haven’t heard from him or Nora since. Andrew is going crazy over Theo, and if Xander were around, he’d be acting the same about Nora. The alphas have us at deathcon level five. Matt and I have been running around getting warriors prepared for the unexpected. I am throwing extra supplies into my bag at home, preparing for the worst, when a knock distracts my work. My mom enters, her hands twisted together, anxiety wrapping around her. “Charity,” she sounds soft and nonconfrontational. “Please don’t go. Please let the others handle this.” “Mom,” I don’t stop moving, getting all my things in the bag. “You know I cannot back out. I am the gamma. I have to go. What would the warriors think of me if I backed out?” “That you’re only sixteen! That you have time before dealing with these things!” She steps forward. Her hand resting on mine gently.

FLETCHER POVThere’s nothing quite like being home, nothing smells like it. My feet crunch against the fallen leaves littering my parents’ property. I left Xander alone with Nora’s ex. They’re hanging out in the shed at the furthest corner, far away from the main house where my younger siblings live.I pass the tire swing, which hangs from the oak tree in our front yard. “Guys, Fletcher’s home!” Ezra calls out, jumping up from the rocking chair. His twin, Emerson barreling out the front door. At seventeen, they’re nearly as tall as me and bulky little shits. Before I know what’s happening, three more sets of twins emerge from Goddess knows where. Without warning, I am bombarded with questions from nosey ass younger siblings. As the only non-twin, single child, and the oldest, it could feel pretty lonely sometime. Until my parents adopted Xander and then it wasn’t as much.“Did Xander come with you? Did his Luna come too?”“Did you bring Charity? Is it true she survived a force shift?”

MATT POV Leaves crunch, while I pace in the cool fall air. The wind from Lake Erie chills to the bone, seeping past the layers of my clothes. Andrew, Charity, and I waiting five miles outside of Northern Lakes. We are stuck waiting on Fletcher and Xander to get out of bumfuck nowhere so they can call us back. For fuck’s sake, they can’t even get cell service. What kind of primitive shit is that? I’d never admit it to another living soul, but not hearing from that jackass rogue beta is worrying me. However, my anxiety is nothing compared to Charity, checking her cell every few minutes. Her brows furrow with disappointment each time she tries to hide it and fails. I know her too well. Andrew is on the verge of losing his mind, ready to make a move inside the territory, but we can’t go in without the rogues who won’t budge. Their stubbornness and loyalty are admirable, but damn frustrating to the rest of us. They won’t move until Xander or Fletcher give the order, but they love Nora en

ELLE POV It’s been a long few days, everything restless, and chaotic, especially now that we’re thousands of miles from home. My nights have been consumed by doubts and nightmares. A subtle reminder that I am not fit to lead. My beta is gone, and the woman I swore to protect in danger. I should have fought harder, my insecurities eating me inside out. My life is a whirlwind of lies, and secret identities to the point I don’t even know myself. What if the biggest lie is me? Am I really the right woman for this job? “Male alphas fail all the time, Biscuit.” Damon’s honey voice breaks through the link, shivers racing down my spine. “We make mistake, lose our members, become greedy. You do the best with the information you have.” Tingles dance, sparking and nipping at my skin, a hard chest pressing against my back. Sandalwood, with an undertone of eucalyptus, invade my nostrils, instantly calming the raging anxiety. “Let’s take a walk, love.” Damon whispers. He walks around, taking my h

MATT POV“I am related to Tristan Dugray.” Fletcher admits unable to meet my gaze. “He’s my cousin…my first cousin.”My world slows at Fletcher’s words while I try to process what the hell he is saying. My world sucked up in a dark hole, unable to process his confession. Zeke growls, pacing, as hurt as I am. Of all the things that was the last thing I expected to hear. Whatever friendship we had is spinning in the drain, distrust and betrayal taking over, filling the reservoir.“You’re related to the family who wanted to mark Charity at fucking nine?” Zeke’s no longer patient or understanding. My claws extending as he forces his way to the top, my pupils turning black, ready to pounce.“Gamma! You will stand down!” Damon growls, his alpha aura pressing down, until Zeke has no choice but to relent.“I want some fucking answers!” His command may have forced Zeke back, but it hasn’t squelched the wrath racing through my bloodstream. Did they know who he was and his relationship to Dugray

CHARITY POVAndrew and I are looking over the map in the makeshift war room. We’re strategizing and finding the best advantage points, and any traps that waits for us. The beta of New Moon is in the middle of an explanation when Matt blows in, rage in his bright blue irises.“Andrew, leave,” he growls, his chest heaving, his eyes shifting between black and their normal color. Andrew’s eyes slide between us, concern in his frown lines, but he doesn’t say more, leaving without a word.“Matt, what?” Before I have the chance to finish, he pulls me into his arms, burying his face in my neck, inhaling deeply. Sparks are sending my body haywire, the contact from his touch overwhelming. Neither of us budge, enjoying the warmth, staying like this for a few minutes, until he’s calm enough to back away.“What’s going on?” I ask, missing the contact of him against me. “Where’s Fletcher?” A snarl leaving his chest, onyx orbs taking over, as Zeke pushes for control, but Matt ends up regaining it.“

MATT POVThey don’t notice me, too lost in each other to notice me peering through the crack in the tent. Zeke remains calm, watching Fletcher’s grubby paws all over Charity. And yet we don’t storm forward demanding he back away. I’m glued to my spot, mesmerized by the way she is looking at him.“He loves her.” Zeke whines while we watch him tuck a strand behind behind her ear. “Maybe we were wrong about his intentions.” He huffs, pacing, worry seizing us both while we silently observe the pair. “Look how she watches him.”My gaze flicks to Charity, and immediately regret the decision. The way her blue eyes stare at him, her mouth slightly agape with surprise, and her irises a shade darker. That lustful expression is one I recognize well, having been on the receiving end. “He could still be a traitor.” I argue, despite seeing the evidence otherwise. Could he be a liability to her?“If he wanted to hand her over to Dugray, he would have done it already.” Zeke reminds, my claws extendin

FLETCHER POV “Look who finally removed himself from Charity’s face,” Matt snipes. Aggravation surrounds him, soaking his aura. His shitty attitude nettles, wounding my pride. I’m here to say I’m sorry and thank you, yet he acts like a fucking dick? Being the bigger person in these situations is getting exhausting and I refuse to continue. “Don’t say-” Mars warns me, clawing for control, but the backhanded jealous remark falls like vomit. A bodily response I cannot stop. “Like you’re one to talk.” I snort, rolling my eyes at his unknown anger. I remind myself that he is a devoted pack wolf, and doesn’t know the outside world like I do. “Are you the pot? Or the kettle?” “You’re supposed to be telling him the truth!” Mars screams, furious at my refusal to play nice. I’m tired of playing nice. “He’s not ready to hear it.” I shake. There will be a time when it’s right. When he’ll understand but it isn’t today. The knowledge will distract him more, and Charity needs him at his top game.

CHARITY POV It’s happening! They’re finally here! In Scotland! Elle and Nora, and the small piece of home they bring. My family. They landed a few hours ago, and are minutes from the school. “Are they bringing your boyfriends, little wolf?” Arran asks, his brows waggling while the others go ‘ooooh,’ and ‘aw.’ These idiots have kind of taken the role of acting like my big brothers, but “Shut up, Arran.” Scowling in his direction, while he grins cheekily. “They’re not my boyfriends.” The month has flown by, and missing them has gotten easier but it doesn’t mean I don’t feel the slight sting when I’m reminded they’re not mine. “With the way you talk about them, you’d think they are.” Harris, a gamma, says in a singsong voice, barely glancing up from his magazine, lounging in an oversized leather chair. “Kind of hard to be dating when I live half-way across the world, and they can find their mates.” I growl, hating when they ask about my boys. Mine. Maybe? Probably not. “Have faith,

NORA POV My brush glides along the wall, the moon and a small lamp is my only light. Inspiration strikes at the oddest times, even when you’re supposed to be sleeping before your red eye flight to Scotland. But the scene, appeared, the perfect mural for our son’s room, demanding to be painted. So here I am, at ten p.m, kneeling in front of the nursery wall, lost in the way the paint glides to form a picture. “Nora.” Xander’s alpha voice snaps me from my trance. My nose scrunching at his tone, because he’s mad. “Why aren’t you in bed?” “Why aren’t you?” I quip, throwing a cheeky grin over my shoulder, to find him stony faced, and arms crossed. He wears his “I mean business, I’m the alpha face.” like a seasoned vet, but it only makes me giggle. “Oh, scary alpha face. I must be bad.” “Goddess, help me.” He mutters rubbing his hand over his face, exasperated by my teasing. “You need sleep, Wildflower. You’re pregnant and we leave for Scotland in three hours.” “Xander,” I shake my head

My parents stand in the corner, cooing over their grandsons.“He’s not so terrible, you know?” Melanie’s voice breaks through the whooshing wind. Her shoulder bumps into mine, as she stands next to me at the railing. “The rogue.”She holds out her hand, offering me one of the beer bottles she brought along with her. “No, he really isn’t terrible.” I smile, recalling the first time I met him, and all I wanted was to push him off a cliff.“Oh, you used to hate him!” She teases, her laugh ringing into the night. "Didn’t you?”“So damn much.” I shake, dropping my arm around her shoulders, tugging her close for a side hug. “I’ve missed you, Mel. How is the mated life?”She sighs, wearing a blissful smile and a dreamy look in her ey

ELLE POVI pace, my bare feet pads along the bathroom tile, my stomach twisting violently while we wait. Damon leans against the counter, his eyes on me, watching as I walk back and forth. These two minutes are the longest of my life, the numbers on the timer are counting down at a snail’s pace.“Biscuit,” Damon murmurs, using his nickname for me. His arms reach out, halting my journey, stopping me in my tracks. “You’ll burn holes in the floor if you keep doing that.”He pulls me into his chest, his smell and warmth wrapping around me like a blanket, a shield from the disappointment I’m sure will come. His hand weaves through mine, his other caressing my back. We stand, not moving for what feels like an eternity, enjoying the comfort from the embrace. The sing-song ringtone blares, telling us it’s time, he doesn’t turn it off, letting the noise echo through the room. FLETCHER POV Matt’s music plays through the speakers as the car rolls through the mountains. His voice singing along to the tunes, while Enzo is asleep in the back seat. “We’re almost there.” I interrupt, growing more uncomfortable the closer we get to the Blue Ridge territory. “You should probably drop me off outside the gates.” “No.” He growls, his face turning to me, forgetting the road or that he’s driving on windy roads. “You are family now, and my family needs to get used to that.” “Yeah,” I groan, not liking the idea of being the sole rogue at an unknown pack, where the alpha is an unknown entity. “But it’s still risky to just show up without warning. I’ll be dead before you have the chance to explain. Most pack wolves kill rogues first and ask questions later.” He remains silent, thinking it over before nodding, understanding my side of things. He leans over, grabbing his phone from the center console. “Here.” He hands it to me, “unlock it, and search for “twin” in my cont

MATT POV“Let’s see what you got, Ezra.” I taunt from the center of the ring.“I don’t know why you sound so cocky.” He returns, stepping over the line, and into the center. “I’m the alpha in this fight.”“Then you have nothing to fear.” My shoulders raise in a shrug, arms up, preparing for the fight. He smirks, throwing a glance at his brothers and sisters, who watch from the sidelines. Anticipation clings to the atmosphere, the little monsters whispering from the sidelines, all of them betting on their brother. An alpha. No wonder he’s such a pompous jackass.Unlike other families, each child has a different rank, a rarity among our kind. Ezra, is a confirmed alpha, his twin, Emerson, a beta. Dakota, who has also shifted is a Beta. Everyone else is too young or hasn’t shifted yet to know for certain.Snow falls in heavy sheets, covering the glass dome shielding us from the wetness. CHARITY POV “A fucking dragon?!” I squeal, stumbling backwards, tripping over the rug, gravity pulling me downward. “Ow!” My ass lands on the concrete floor, my palms catching me. My neck strains, my head tilted backward, staring at Chrys in awe. Her gold scales shimmering in the firelight, like she’s been covered in glitter. Her gold eyes pierce into my soul, the honey colored flecks, particularly hypnotizing. “You’re breathtaking.” I whisper, unable to look away, shocked by the beauty of her. “Thank you.” Her voice sings through my conscious reminding me she can do that. She nods, sitting back in her hindquarters, amusement in the smirk above her chin. “I didn’t think Dragons existed outside of fairytales.” I whisper, picking myself off the floor, standing until we are at eye level. “We don’t. Not anymore.” She responds, misery and pain lingering in her statements. “Not on this realm at least.” “So, they used to live here?” I ask, my fingers itch to reach out and touch her, but

Matt is still outside, talking with my dad, Roman. “He is.” Burden makes my chest heavy, as I stare at the bundle in my arms. “Mom, I need to talk to you about something.” She pauses, glancing up at me with concern. “What’s wrong, honey?” “It’s about Enzo.” I whisper, knowing there are too many ears in this house, with their damn wolf hearing. “Where are the twins?” “Brynn and Briar are napping.” She answers, sitting on the couch across from me. “Chase and Cooper are in their shed, building some wacky invention or another. I swear, those two will unintentionally blow something up one day with their science projects.” “Should we worry about the human feds busting down our door?” “Oh, please don’t put that energy into the hair.” My father, Atlas, answers, his chuckle dry with little energy. “What about the older twins?” I fret, not needing them to overhear what I am about to
