Emma’s POV

I dipped an extra crispy chicken into the honey mustard sauce in the bowl in front of me, before adding it into Isla’s plate.

She did a small, happy dance on her seat before digging into the mustard covered chicken. I laughed at her cuteness.

“This breakfast tastes so delicious, Emma.” She complimented me. “You are an amazing cook!”

Truth was, I had little cooking skills and Tatiana had helped me prepare this. In fact, she had done seventy percent of the work.

But I didn’t tell Isla this. Instead, I brought my hand to her hair, patting it gently as she enjoyed her meal. Again, it felt so surreal that this was the same little girl I had given birth to eight years ago. The overwhelming urge to protect her from the cold world suddenly enveloped me

“Did you enjoy Paris?” I asked and Isla nodded her head at my question.

“Yes, I did. It was wholesome! I wish you had come with us, Emma.”

“Next time, sweetie.” I offered her another smile.

“By the way,” Isla raised her head from her

ZaneStanding in the living room, I adjusted the cuffs of my tailored suit for the third time. Blowing an exhale out of my mouth, I glanced at my wristwatch. My parents’ anniversary dinner party would have begun by now. Yet, here I still was, their only child, waiting for Emma to finish dressing up and meet me downstairs. Not like I was complaining. I was patient as ever. A minute later, the light sound of heels softly descending the staircase broke through my thoughts and I lifted my gaze to see her.My breath hitched at once as I watched her gracefully advance towards me, dressed in a stunning gown that hugged her figure perfectly. It was a floor-length, off-the-shoulder shimmery dress in a deep rich royal blue color. Her hair auburn red hair was styled in a loose, romantic style that cascaded down her back like a waterfall of silk. I felt my chest tighten and for a moment, I forgot how to breathe, how to think. She was the only woman who could do that to me. The strong urge t

EmmaFor the first hour since we got to the party, I had tried to make eye contact with Rachel from where she was standing with Asher, but it seemed to be futile. I could swear that she was intentionally avoiding my eyes. Once our eyes finally met, a small crossed my face and I waved at her but she barely spared me a glance before looking away. Sighing in defeat from the sharp stinging pain of her rejection, I dropped my hand. Again, I blamed Zane for all of this. What reason did he have for embarrassing her the way he did?Still, I expected her to at least give me a chance to clear thing. None of what happened was my fault. Why was she being so hard on me? As I tried to look away and refocus my gaze to the rest of the party, my gaze met with Asher who was standing right beside Rachel. He offered me a faint smile from the distance and a tentative wave. I only gave a closed mouthed smile in return. He had been staring at me ever since I stepped foot into this party, while I had tri

EmmaI let out a sigh, placing my phone back on my lap after trying Zane’s number for the fifth time with no answer.I blew out a puff of air in frustration and glanced around the room. The once-bustling hall was now empty, except for the cleaners who were quietly tidying up. The party had ended and everyone else had gone home. Yet here I sat, still waiting for Zane to return after walking out on me during our dance.“Emma?” A voice called from behind and I turned to see Mrs. Mendoza approaching me with a small, apologetic smile. Out of respect, I stood up from my seat as she came closer. “I’m so sorry for keeping you waiting.” She said once she reached me, pulling me into a brief hug before stepping back. “For a moment, I was worried you might have already left with Zane.”“No, ma’am.” I said with a small shake of my head, forcing a polite smile. “Also, I understand you’re busy. It’s your big day after all.” “Aww.” She said warmly. “But please, call me Elizabeth. I feel old whe

EmmaThankfully, the accident was just a scratch on the car and didn’t harm us. But I would never forget the horrified, scared look on Zane’s face when it happened. The wide, panicked look in his eyes as he checked me over and asked if I was okay. And even though I insisted I wasn’t hurt, he still rushed me to the hospital. Once it was confirmed I was fine, Zane brought me back to the mansion. After that, I didn’t see him again. The only information I got from his assistant was that he had left for an urgent business trip. As much as I tried to believe it, I couldn’t shake the feeling that he was running away from me and from his own head. It made me feel bad for him but I didn’t try to reach out, just incase I said or did something that would worsen his feelings.Instead, I tried to focus all my attention on the grand opening of my dessert bar. Before he left, he had his assistant hand me some documents. They were the ownership papers for the building for the dessert bar, along w

EmmaZane's car pulled up in front of a grand five-star restaurant. Stepping out, he walked around to open my door and I stepped out, holding the hem of my dress as my eyes scanned the elegant building before us.Literally the kind of restaurant only the wealthiest would dine in. After the opening event, Zane had taken me home and made me prepare for his surprise treat. And now, here we were.“Come on.” Zane said, wrapping my arm around his as he led me toward the entrance. “Let’s head in.”He guided me into the restaurant, where two chefs and a man in a sharp suit who was clearly the manager, hurried toward us with welcomi in ng smiles on their faces. “Welcome to Heavenly Bliss, Mr. and Mrs. Mendoza. This way, please.” The manager said, leading us to a table. Once reached our table, Zane pulled out a chair for me before settling into his own. As we sat down, my gaze glanced around the room. At the far end, a musician played a soothing jazz tune that added to the ambiance. Everythi

EmmaI barely slept that night. Sharing a room with Zane was bad enough, but sharing a bed? That was torture. And it wasn’t even a king-sized bed —just a medium one that left almost no space between us. Every little movement made our bodies brush against each other, sending unwelcome sparks through me.I gritted my teeth, blaming his broken-down car for this mess. And blaming myself too. If only I had brought my phone, we could’ve called for help…“Can’t sleep?" Zane’s deep voice came from behind me. I was facing away from him, but I could feel his breath warm against my neck. It sent a shiver down my spine and a wild flutter in my heart.I didn’t answer. Instead, I squeezed my eyes shut, pretending to be asleep.Zane let out a low chuckle, then suddenly wrapped his arms around me. My body tensed at once. He pulled me even closer until his waist was pressed against my ass.I swallowed hard and shifted slightly, trying to create some distance, but he just mirrored my movement, refusin

  • Playing the Billionaire’s Contract Game   Free Tasting

EmmaDetermined to boost my dessert bar’s popularity, I decided to try a marketing tip I had seen on the internet the next day. First, I created an Instagram account and started posting pictures of our desserts. They were pictures of beautifully plated pastries, creamy cheesecakes, and chocolate-drizzled delights. To make things more fun and engaging, Eleanor and I took a few selfies, making goofy, silly, and cute faces while holding some of the desserts.Under each post, we added hashtags to increase visibility. #SweetIndulgence #BestDessertsInTown #MadeWithLove #FreeTastingTodayThen, to attract foot traffic, we printed out colorful flyers and planned to distribute them to passersby, inviting them in for a free tasting in the bar. From what I had read, my launch event had been a grand affair, mostly catering to elites. But I wanted to make sure everyday people —the kind who might become my most loyal customers— also got to experience my desserts. So, while I waited inside, hopin

EmmaOh my God.Walking in on Asher and Rachel in such an intimate position was the last thing I ever expected to see tonight. Or ever.I had accepted Asher’s invitation not just because we had made up, but because I needed a break from Zane’s jealousy and the cold treatment he had been giving me since the charity event.Only to walk in on this.“Emma.” Asher called my name, his voice heavy with shock. He quickly pushed Rachel away and fumbled to fasten his belt as he shoved his cock back into his trousers.Rachel’s head snapped toward me, her face frozen in surprise and her lips slightly parted.“I… um…” I stammered, struggling to decide how to react. Asher wasn’t my boyfriend anymore, neither was he my husband. So, I had no right to be upset. But seeing my best friend on her knees with her mouth around his cock, giving him one hungry blow job was impossible to wipe off my memories. And somehow, it upset me slightly, no matter how I tried to deny it. Forcing a small smile, I clear

AsherI placed the last plate on the kitchen table, stepping back to admire the meal I had just finished preparing. The spicy aroma filling the air, caused a small smile to cross my lips. I was still wearing my suit trousers, but my shirt and jacket had been discarded the moment I got home. Although I was quite a good cook, I never really enjoyed it. But tonight was special.Emma was coming over for dinner.I had texted her last night, inviting her over after she left the charity event with Zane. Surprisingly, she had agreed. I bit down on my lower lip as I smiled again, shaking my head at myself. It was almost ridiculous how easily she could get to me, how all the anger and heartbreak from the past seemed to fade the moment she lowered her guard and apologized. She had broken me once —shattered me back in Boston.
