Lynan soon found himself back at the bubbly idol’s side and gratefully let her lead their conversation.
He began to feel rather shabby the more he looked around; glittering evening dresses and flashy suits adorned everyone else.
The only person who wasn’t dressed so was a good looking man who wore an awesome traditional outfit that Lynan couldn’t remember the name of, but wow.
He was so screwed.
He didn’t stand a chance.
All conversations ceased abruptly, and he looked up to find Yael striding into the room behind another tall, light brown haired man. This one was dressed in a light blue fitting suit and walked with a calm, happy attitude very at odds with Yael’s sombre appearance.
Lynan recognized him as being a very popular TV show host.
“Greetings, ladies and gentlemen. You may remember me from our phone conversations but I am Kosh Solace. I am helping to run this show and will be providing commentary to yourselves and the viewers at home. As you may remember, there are no cell phones allowed at the mansion and little contact with the outside world during your stay.”
“But in an effort to make things more interactive, along with the live streams on our website, you will be receiving specially profiled phones to use during your stay. I will hand these out shortly, but with these, you will have access to the camera, for selfie purposes obviously, a schedule of events, a forum to talk with each other and make requests of the onsite staff. Most exciting of all is a special closed twitter account.”
“This means you can post tweets, have access to see other show participant’s tweets and reply, but you cannot view the outside world’s tweets. The viewers however can see all of these. This show is all about helping Yael here to find love but also to make it a fun, interesting interaction for everyone involved, including our wonderful viewers.”
“That’s all for now. I will make my rounds and hand out the phones over the evening. Otherwise, please take the opportunity to get to know Yael a little better.”
Kosh gave a small bow and left, leaving Yael to be suddenly swamped. Only a few besides Lynan remained sitting, one being the good looking man. He caught Lynan’s gaze and walked over to sit next to him.
“I see we are playing at the same strategy,” the man had a nice voice. He moved with a graceful elegance that Lynan found himself a little envious of.
“Ah, I wouldn’t say that,” Lynan looked over to the mob of people around Yael, the blonde haired manager seemed to be leading the fray. “I just prefer my limbs intact, thanks.”
“You don’t seem like all the others here,” the man said before offering a hand. “Liev Henrich. But please, call me Liev.”
“Lynan Katz,” he returned the handshake politely and sat back in the squishy couch.
They chatted quietly for a bit, Lynan got the feeling he was being weighed up and judged but Liev soon relaxed and that feeling vanished.
It was both a relief and mildly irritating that he had been dismissed once again. Not that he could blame him, to be honest.
The man excused himself after a while and Lynan found himself sitting between Amulet and a model called Stelle with yet another glass of champagne.
He tried to remember all the names but most of them blurred together. He felt sorry for Yael having to remember everyone. It’s not like the man could get away with forgetting anyone’s name.
Placing down his now empty glass on the small coffee table in front of him, Lynan settled back into a recently vacated cushy arm chair and let all the sounds wash over him.
It had been a long stressful day and he was done with all the drama.
Lynan didn’t even realize that he had fallen asleep until he was being gently shaken awake.
He groggily opened his eyes only to be immediately met with intense dark green eyes leaning in far too close. He let out the most unmanly squeak imaginable and flailed in surprise.
Yael pulled back looking somewhat amused.
“Are you okay?”
“Ah, yeah, just a little tired is all,” he sat up, rubbing his eyes and flushed as he realized that everyone was looking at them. “I had a long photo shoot this morning because one of Enamoured’s main photographers had a family emergency. It’s been a long day,” he said in defense.
Yael’s eyebrows rose in slight surprise and he straightened, holding out a hand. Lynan let himself be pulled to his feet.
“You work for Enamoured?”
They moved out from the crowd of people and onto a small private balcony, Lynan still feeling a little disorientated from sleep.
“Ah, no. I’m just a freelance photographer. So, I only work for that brand occasionally.”
“I see. You seem rather worn out, Amulet said you’d been asleep for a while. You’re the last person for me to speak with tonight. I almost didn’t want to wake you.”
“I’ve been up since five am,” Lynan admitted with an embarrassed shrug. “I’m a little tired after the photo shoot and then all the rush and the drama getting here. Must be worse for you though, having to try and remember and process things about twenty different people all in one night.”
Yael hummed and changed the subject, asking about him, his home life, his freelance photography work, and his hobbies.
Lynan got a few of his own questions in before they were interrupted by Kosh popping his head out and beckoning Yael away.
Apparently, it was about time for the final event of the evening and Lynan was glad.
Yawning, he made his way back into the building and squished himself between an amused looking Liev and a slightly worried Amulet.
He waved off a few concerned queries sheepishly and was surprised when Kosh waltzed back into the room and strode over to where they sat. He leaned down and handed over a flashy looking smart phone.
“And the last one is for sleeping beauty,” the man said with a smile.
Lynan blushed and accepted the phone with a mumbled thanks. He got a brief run through on how it all worked and picked a new passcode for it.
The last thing he needed was someone stealing his phone and pranking him.
He imagined the cat fights would begin sooner or later. Overall, the set up on the phones was simple and easy to use and he noticed a few selfies already on their tweet network.
Along with one of him sound asleep with a ‘sleeping beauty’ tag.
Clearly, he had already made a name for himself and not the best one either.
Further inspection was interrupted by Kosh heading back to the front of the gathering and clapping his hands together for silence.
Yael appeared from the doorway with a single red rose in hand and a collective dreamy sigh took over the room.
Lynan barely refrained from rolling his eyes but he had to admit that Yael did look striking with his tailored suit and perfect rose held carefully between thick fingers.
“This is the first impression rose,” Kosh gestured to the rose with a flourish. “One of you tonight left such a strong impression that our ultimate bachelor would like to take you on the first solo date in two days’ time. There has been a great deal of thought put into this, many of you left very strong impressions tonight.”
Kosh’s eyes flicked across the room and Lynan smothered a snort. He supposed him nearly falling over was not as bad as bringing a chicken or a pony. The poor animals had been removed during the first hour by very resigned looking staffs.
“Yael, if you would?”
The man in question nodded and stepped forward.
“After much deliberation, I would like to award this rose to the one who impressed me with not only a good appearance but also with wit and intellect and a drive that may even match my own…”
The room fell dead silent, it felt as though every single person was holding their breath.
“Liev Henrich.”
The man smirked and gracefully glided across the room to accept the rose.
If looks could kill, Liev would be writhing on the ground in agony but he wore the glares of the others with a satisfied smile and a haughty toss of his hair. Liev stepped back to take his seat again after accepting the rose.
“No doubt you are all tired after such a big day.”
Lynan struggled not to grimace as a few snide glances were cast his way.
“Tomorrow will be a day for settling in; finding your way around the mansion, getting to know your housemates, and of course, Yael himself. If you would please follow our staff, they will see you settled for the night.”
Lynan headed off towards the male wing of the mansion and mentally groaned at the thought of ten people sharing the same sleeping area.
He was pretty sure that nerves would fray very quickly but no doubt that that’s what they were after. Besides, calm situations didn’t make for good reality TV after all.
All he could do was hope that this would all be worth it.
It was day three and Lynan was already nearing the end of his tether.Yesterday had been exactly what Kosh had said, settling into the mansion and getting to know the people he would live with for the next few months.Lynan was getting more depressed by the hour. There was a creepy set of female twins that would just randomly finish each other’s sentences and tossed thinly veiled suggestions of a threesome with Yael around as though that might help convince him to pick them. The pony had been sent back home but the chicken, who he learned was called Sato, was still around and their owner was rarely seen without it in tow.It was surprisingly docile and a little bit cute… for a chicken. There was the club manager that Lynan had been forced to listen to for an hour, ranting about his soon to be requited love, the good looking elegant man, the bubbly idol, a mechanic, an artist. A woman claiming to be a professional housewife even. The list went on.Only Lynan seemed to care less about a
After listening to Taylor wail and screech about a damn peck on the hand all night, Lynan woke up far too early once again.Unfortunately, his nerves were no less frayed now than they were last night.Great.On the plus side, the petty man was thrilled with the chance of winning a solo date today but now, he had holed up in one of the few big bathrooms refusing to let anyone else in.Lynan decided to avoid the entire fiasco by trailing down to the kitchen in his pajamas and getting a coffee. He could just throw something on before they had to leave.By some act of God, no one else had the same idea, and the kitchen was mercifully quiet. He shuffled in still sleepy, rubbing his eyes and yawning before sluggishly moving to boil the jug and loading up a mug with copious amounts of coffee and sugar. He wondered if anyone would notice if he stole cream instead of milk. The extra sugar sounded amazing right now.He poured the water in, stirred in the milk, and then leaned back against the c
The limo ride back to the mansion proved to be a pleasant affair. It was just the three of them together and Yael’s limo was equipped with a mini drinks bar. So they sat and chatted and drank as the time and scenery flew by.Yael turned out to have a decent sense of humor and with both Stelle and Lynan there, the conversation never really lulled.Lynan felt a little bad about raining on Stelle’s parade and getting dragged along but at the same time, he was relieved that he got to avoid the cramp and drama on one of the other limos.Yael had come out by himself in his own limo so he could use the travel time to catch up on work and Lynan almost felt bad that they were impeding on that. Not bad enough to request a limo switch though. He felt a little less awkward in the man’s presence after that.He apologized to Stelle for stealing away her alone time with Yael but she waved him off with a grin.“It’s fine. It made it less awkward with you there actually. I didn’t know what to talk abo
Taylor won the next solo date and Lynan was about ready to punch the smugness and arrogance right off of his face. The white pony lady beat him to it and slugged Taylor in the stomach after a nasty comment to Eve.“Let’s be honest, who wants a fucking virgin,” Taylor had carelessly and rudely threw out in to the room towards Eve which earned him more than one glare and the said slug to the stomach.Lynan made the woman a cocktail and raised a toast in her honor that evening. This place was causing him to drink far too much. But it shut Taylor up to the point that he left to sulk with Liev and Caleb in the bedroom.Ah, the sweet sound of peace. He spent the entire next day having one massive cooking lesson with a few of the other contestants.Several others declined the lesson but were more than happy to sample and judge the dishes. It was going well until Yui set fire to a pot on the stove top and the head of the mansion security, now impromptu firefighter, had to come and scold them
Lynan didn’t redeem himself. The only good thing was that he didn’t look like even more of an idiot. The last group date was ‘fashion’ themed and it didn’t seem to suit Yael at all.Sure, he always looked good and presumably had a decent dress sense outside of the suits but Lynan was secretly of the opinion that it was chosen for the more fashion inclined of the group.Which was everyone barring about five people. The twins won that little competition and decided that they would share the date, rendering the term ‘solo date’ void. His sister had scolded him for not being more forward in his advances but if Yael didn’t like him for being himself, then quite frankly, the businessman can fuck off.Self respect had always been one of the important principles in life that he had made sure to abide.Still, they had been here three weeks and the toll was starting to show.Cat fights were becoming common place and Lynan’s quiet nap time was often interrupted just so someone could groan and ra
Yael had to go back to work after lunch so Lynan made use of his freedom to grab his camera and head off into the gardens that surrounded the mansion to snap off some photos. He even ventured off to the edge of the property and into the slightly forested area much to Jasper’s obvious annoyance. The man wasn’t allowed to speak while the cameras were rolling but the glares made his opinion known just as well.Still, it had been a refreshing little adventure and Lynan was feeling a lot more energetic than before.Almost enough to be able to deal with Taylor’s whining. Almost. He groaned aloud at the memory of earlier in the day and ran his hands over his face. Jasper gave him an odd look from behind the camera and he explained in despair.“If Taylor finds out about today, then I’ll never hear the end of it. I hope he’s too wrapped up in whatever he did today that he doesn’t check the day’s highlights.”Jasper’s smirk suggested that the cameraman actually wanted Taylor to find out. Of cou
An obstacle course! It was made up of planks of wood and ropes, partially on the ground and partially suspended between trees. This one was wonderful. Finally a cardio challenge in this weeks of inactivity and stress! The only problem was waiting until the rest of the grouptocatchup. It wasn’t long before the front of the group caught up but they had to wait ages before those lagging behind appeared. There was more than one groan of apprehension at the challenge laid out before them as people arrived.“Physical fitness is an important part of a healthy, active lifestyle,” Koshgrinned at the gathered group.“And how you take on challenges out of your comfort zone is very telling of your character. Today’s challenge is the obstacle course behind me.”The light brown haired man gestured to the course with his typical grand flourish. “You will have thirty minute
Two full days he’d had to wait and now, tomorrow was his solo date with Yael.Lynan was lying on the roof, star gazing, having ditched both the other contestants and the cameras. He was nervous about tomorrow but perhaps, not for the reason most people thought.Sure, it was intimidating to have so much alone time with the man, especially after what he has heard from the others about their own dates, but that wasn’t all. Each time he thought about the next day, his mind brought up the almost kiss from the beginning of the week before skittering away in nervous embarrassment. He wasn’t very good at the whole ‘think before you act’ thing and really needed to think of other things.Like the other reason he was nervous. There had been some kind of big emergency thing for Yael at work and he had to leave the mansion for an entire day after their obstacle activity. The businessman spent the next day with everyone in apology but Lynan was concerned. Not about the man’s work, but about the dar
So it turned out that there were a lot of things going on in the mansion that Lynanhad no clue about. He was shocked when having left the show,he got to look online at not only the highlights but all the footage. While in there, he never looked much into what was going on around him because he wanted to avoid all the drama.Probably the biggest shock of all was Taylor’s suicide a week after being kicked off the show.Lynanfound out the day after Yaelhad handed him the final rose and while he disliked the manager, he couldn’t help feel but sad that he felt the need to take his own life.Surely there was more to life than one bad TV show, even if he had wanted Yael?Yaelhimself was rather close lipped about the whole thing.Lynanhad been worried that maybe he might feel upset over the death and his indirect involvement in it but the man didn’t seem to be affected or even care
A warm hand carded through Lynan’s hair, encouraging him but not demanding anything.Taking the hint, Lynanleaned forward to lick across the head and the cock jumped in his hand.Spurred on by the reaction, he set to messily lavishing attention on the cock in front of him. He spent some time licking and sucking along the length before moving to take the head in his mouth. The hand in his hair spasmed and he grinned around the length. The weight and girth of it was impressive and Lynancould barely fit much more than the head in his mouth. He hollowed his cheeks and sucked as he looked up to see Yaellooming over him with eyes blown black.A thrill ran down his spine at putting the man in such a state. It was messy, especially as he couldn’t bear to look away from the other man’s face. The hand twitched in his hair again before the other hand came down and he was pulled off the cock with an obscene slu
Lynannodded mutely, feeling a little shy suddenly. His nerves had eased, leaving a warm feeling of anticipation to take hold of his being. He slipped off of Yael’s lap and let him exit the vehicle first.Of course, when Lynanwent to exit the limo, he tripped on the edge of the floor and went flying out, face first. He mentally cursed his own clumsiness as he prepared for his inevitable face plant only to be met with cloth instead of concrete.Yael’s booming laugh filled what appeared to be an underground garage before he hefted Lynanup into his arms bridal style and moved towards an elevator. The ginger haired photographer flushed a deep red even as he wound his arms around his boyfriend’s neck. He was glad that the other man found his clumsiness funny instead of annoying like most people did but it was still embarrassing.“Don’t worry, Lynan. Iwillalways cat
Lynanwas a mess of nerves. The final Scarlet Rose Ceremonywas in a few hours and he was starting to pace because he could no longer keep still.“Lynan!”Stelleand Amypeered around the doorway to his bedroom with matching knowing grins. They strode in at his questioning look and placed a large bag on his bed. Even though they shared the bedroom, Lievwas nowhere to be found and it relieved Lynanto have a distraction from his thoughts. He wanted Yaelto pick him, he wanted to continue to get to know the man more. But what did he have to offer against the other three? The closer the time got to the ceremony, the more his thoughts headed toward the negative.Never in a million years would he have guessed that he would have cared so much about this show.“We brought some stuff to make you all pretty!”Inside the bag sat hair care products, co
The date had been amazing even with the whole ‘meet the family’ thing.Lynanlay stretched out on one couch, headphones in and playing on his hand-held gaming device.Lievsat reading on a couch while another couch was occupied byKosh. The man was going over through some documents that has nothing to do with the TV show, while Amysprawled out on the floor in front of a low coffee table carefully painting her nails. It was the kind of quiet peacefulness that was so hard to find.Forced away from their normal worries and now missing the bitchy contestants, they had all fallen into these nice, relaxed evenings. It didn't seem like it would be particularly exciting for the viewers but Koshonly grinned when he had asked about that earlier. It seemed like there were still some things he was missingout on.But he had his own worries beyond what the others were doing although if they happened
Lynan’s family were not as bad as Yaelfeared upon seeing the young man’s worried expression that morning but he definitely understood his apprehension.Florence Katz, the matriarch of the Katz family, has insisted on being calledon her name andwas a bright, bubbly and had a little too much fun pulling blushes from her only son. While Lynan’s only sibling, Bethany was just as lively. Unfortunately, Lynan and Bethany’s father was on a business trip and was not able to attend. The Katz’s ladies approved of his choice of lunch, a quiet little picnic in a beautiful lush garden that was closed off just for the occasion. He apologizedthat the food was catered rather than lovingly prepared this time but he had been informed that it couldn't have been more perfect.Lynanhad been rather surprised by the choice until Yaelmentioned that the story of the cooking together and the quiet, mor
“Please assemble for the second Scarlet Rose Ceremony.” Kosh’s voice rang out in the lounge room and everyone got to their feet. The girls had helped Lynanget ready again and had been giggling over his nervousness. He wasn't sure why they found it so damn funny but they couldn't contain themselves. Stelleeven went so far as to call him ‘oblivious’ but that didn't help him figure out what he was missingout on. He noticed that they seemed to be another person short this evening, one of the girls was missing and gossip was flying around. “Don't look so worried,” Lievpatted his shoulder. “You of all people should not be worried.” Lynanshot him a confused look, earning himself an amused half smile. “Don't underestimate yourself so much,”one final pat to the shoulder, then the man moved away to take up his spot so Lynannervously took his own as Koshwalked into the room
Lynandrifted for some time before a low conversation slowly brought him back to awareness. He listened before he recognizedthe voices and slipped one sleepy eye open.Lievsat above him and he realizedthat was whose lap he was using a pillow. He shifted slightly to look to the other side of the couch and blinked at a worried looking Kosh.“Lynan, how are you feeling?”He looked up to his friend before snuggling back down and closing his eyes again as a slender hand ran through his hair gently.“Like crap,” he mumbled.Lievlaughed. “The others are making you some soup so you can sleep for a while longer. Now, people should know not to disturb you,” Liev said looking pointedly at KoshHe heard Koshgrumble and whine all the way to the doorabout being left out of the loopand silence descended in the room once againbut the hand continued
Stellelaunched towards Lynanscreaming while Lievjumped forward to intercept her.Amyyelled hysterically in the corner through her tears, demanding answers and Taylorhad actually started to laugh. What concerned Yaelthe most however was Lynan’s lack of response. The young man just stood there, barely standing straight and looking around the room in confusion. It seemed like he couldn’t see what was going on.Lievsuccessfully intercepted the yelling young woman and Yaelstrode forward to take Lynan’s face in his hands.Lynan’s clothes reeked of alcohol but his breath didn’t which was odd and even more alarming was that his pupils were different sizes.Large hazel brown eyes blinked owlishly at him but there was no recognition in them, it was like he had trouble focusing on anything at all.Yaelpulled hisownphone out from his pock
