Days have passed, and I am still on this stupid bed. I turn to Zale who was peeling apples, he noticed that I was looking at him so he also looked at me. "It's almost peeled, wait a sec." He said, I looked at his hands that has several cuts because of the knife.
"Pass me the apples, no need to peel them." He looked at me worriedly and so I sighed and smiled. He looked at the apple, which is half-peeled before he passed it to me and so I ate it. I looked outside and saw the vast water greeting the land. "Looks like the storm has subsided?" I asked and he replied yes. I want to carry on with our journey.
I looked at the blue-haired Zale and he was packing our things. So am I being discharged? He looked at me and smiled. I stood up and my long hair was swayed by the strong wind. I saw the red strands and just looked at them. My hair color changed after I saw my mother who has Bright red hair with highlights of black. I turned to the mirror and saw my red hair that was highlighted with white.
We thanked the doctor and the nurse who has assisted us throughout the stay in the small clinic. We went back on the trail and this time, we were cautious in everything that was surrounding us. We fought beasts with beasts as we go further into the mountains. I was grateful that Zale was with me because I am still weak and am lack mana. I haven't fully restored my mana yet and so we just stuck into walking instead of flying.
We rested for about 10 minutes or so because I was getting exhausted. I marked my words that I shall never drain my mana, it almost led me to my death. "Are you okay?"Zale asked me when he noticed that I am slowly running out of breath. I nodded and took a deep breath to spread the oxygen in my body. I lit one of my fingers with fire, though it was small and weak, then swallowed it, Zale looked at me with disbelief. "Why the heck did you eat fire?" He said and lifted my chin and opened my mouth.
"It was the only way to subside my fever" I replied. The way that he looked at me was like questioning me if I really have a fever. "Didn't you know that once you drain your mana, you'll have hay fever, and the only way to subside the fever is to eat your own magic," I said while catching my breath and feel my fever that subsided? I sighed in relief when I felt that the load in my chest was finally gone.
I stood up and looked at him and ask, "Didn't your father told you that? Or at the very least, someone? It is quite the most common knowledge ever taught to anyone in the four clans with elements." He shook his head and stood up and carried my backpack for me. He looked like a puppy that is sorry for not knowing anything. I felt kind of guilty though. Was I harsh with my words?
Hours have passed, all we did was walk and rest. I really am slowing down our journey. We even spent the night camping and him cooking dinner. I apologized many times for being a hinder and slowing the journey towards the duke's knight-dom.
After a few days of adventuring, we finally reached the knight-dom, "We're finally here!" Said Zale. We walked in and were stopped by the knights guarding the Gates of the Heliutin Knight-dom. "Show us your identification certificate."Zale and I were taken aback. We don't own any identification certificates. From where we came from, which is the Southern Islands, we don't really need the use of this identification thingy, we just state our business and that's it. Our security is lame.
Going back, my book slightly glowed and miraculously made a freaking identification certificate. The same does for Zale. So this book made by the Gods can do illegal things, convenient I must say. We didn't think twice and showed our certificate and the knights gladly welcomed us in the knight-dom. "Welcome to Heliutin Knight-dom travelers."
Without any reaction, we silently went in and were amazed by how everything in this place was so clean and organized. "We look like someone who came from a faraway place and has never come to a big city." Said Zale. I was still in awe but when I heard those words from Zale, I said, "We really are from a faraway place. We live in the Southern."
Zale just laughed it off and I just wore a confused look on my face. We searched for a place to sleep since it was almost sunset when a kid suddenly came to us and offered us a place to sleep for free. It was quite sketchy but then again, we were kinda broke since we spent a little currency in the clinic on the harbor.
We accepted the offer, not knowing what was going to happen.
And so we followed him up to his house, we heightened our defense on ourselves in case the kid decides to just go and stab us and take our money. I've learned my lesson. I have a scar due to this similar situation in the past. We reached his house and saw a not-so-shabby house, but noticed that we were actually far from the main district of the town.
"We were placed here by the captain, the ruler of this knight-dom to protect us." Said the kid. To protect them huh? "You knew when you first entered the town, big sister." My senses were heightened thanks to my grandpapa's training. He helped me detect other elemental users. Zale looked at me with confused looks. He's strong physically and when he is using his powers but not by sense, in terms of enemies and other elemental users.
"You can sense that kind of thing?" He asked, I sighed at how he is so innocent he is when it comes to this basic training we got from my clan. Especially when our Goddess is the Goddess of Fire and war. We followed the kid inside his house and saw there two other children. A boy and a girl. Looking at their eyes, it's bluish-gray. And one thing comes to my mind, wind.
"How come you're here in this knight-dom?" Zale asked. The same question I wanted to ask actually, this clan is supposed to be located on high fields, not a place where it is surrounded by the tallest of mountains. "The Captain took us in. Our original place was burnt down by a group of bandits. Since the captain doesn't want us to reveal our element to some ordinary group of people, he decided to take our clan inside this town, but far away from the main district to keep us safe." The kid explained to us while organizing some of the other children's stuff. So, they are like our clan. But our difference is that the king of the kingdom of the southern kept us as their security to the other elemental users.
"So it's like that. At least they are actually protecting you, unlike what they did to our clan." I said. He shook his head. "The exchange of our safety is the princess of our clan." What he said was shocking news. Their captain, he what? That news got me and Zale alarmed. The princess of their clan is as important as the elder. My mother, the one who took care of me, was announced as the princess of our clan before I was born, and is still the princess. No one dares to touch the princess of each clan. "The princess voluntarily went to the captain when he announced it. She said if it's for our protection, she would be glad to offer herself."
I stood up, that's it! I'm going to save their princess. Zale held my hand to stop me. I budged but it didn't do anything. "You are not going there without a plan. We don't even know what she looks like." He said. He does have a point, going there without a plan is suicide.
"You don't need to do this." The young boy said. "Kid, the princess of the clan is as important as an elder. The princess keeps the balance of each clan, you guys need her." Zale explained. Zale is smart, good-looking, a little bit innocent, and is kind. Thank goodness he is like this because I have no patience to explain these kinds of things. He is also explaining to the children that I am in a bad mood because of the story they told us. "Anyways, do you kids know what she looks like? Or what her name is?" I asked.
"All we know is that the princess is calm and kind looking, has long blonde wavy hair, and her name is Zephyrine Heaven"
Zephyrine Heaven, even her name sounds so kind and calming. Wait...her name sounds familiar, I know I have heard it somewhere. I looked at Zale who is looking confused as I am. "Her name is Zephyrine?" I asked once more, the kids just nodded as their response. Zeph--- Ah! She's the one in my dreams. I sat down beside Zale who is thinking about something. "We need to plan now." He suddenly blurted out. Right, a plan...but what kind of plan? "Does anybody knows what the captain looks like or his mansion's passageways?" He asked, the kid who looks older than the girl raised his hand. "What are your names by the way?" I asked. I kept saying kid this, kid that, we literally are inside their house, why not ask for their names right? "I'm Kareela, a friend of theirs." Said the girl, "I'm Boreas, the oldest." said the one who offered us a place to stay. "I'm Notus, and I work in the captain's mansion as a servant." Great! Now I can call them by name. "So Notus, I know this will be like t
I woke up sweating, this kind of feeling is the feeling I hate the most. I scanned the place, where am I? I stood up and had the urge to run but my knees are being jelly. It's hot in here, it feels like hell. "Welcome chosen heir of the fire." A voice said in my head. I don't like the feeling of this. "Where am I?" I asked. My head is aching. I don't feel so good, why am I being like this? "Thy have summoned thee's spirit in this realm of mine." now that I have scanned the whole place, this is a temple… I remember having a conversation with Zale and the others, suddenly heard the cry and now I'm here, weird. Something is quite bothering me. "Kill them! Kill those who dared to hurt the--" I didn't let the voice end its sentence as it is quite irritating. A spirit of vengeance has no right to communicate with an heir. My condition started to be at ease. "How bold of you to assume I'll listen to you," I said and crossed my arms, wearing only my poker face. I have thought of this, no wa
As I entered my lifeless house, I said, "I am home..." Oh no! My parents aren't dead, they were sent for a mission, ordered by the kingdom, a mission worth a week. I went up to my room and tossed myself to the bed and buried my face in my fluffy pillow. "What the heck was that?" I shouted in frustration. I am what? The child of who? The Gods? And what the heck is our clan's misery? My goodness! I stood up and went straight to our house's mini-library. As my father is the chief of the village, this is quite normal for us to have such a mini-library in our house. When I got there, a lock was what greeted me. I smirked because father knows that I can easily open this by simply melting the lock. Which is what I did and I got in without a single drop of sweat. I searched for a book, and as far as I know, all books of origin have a peculiar design such as a fancy, weird design. As I was searching for the book, something fell from the shelf. Scared I was, I went closer to the thing
I opened my eyes and looked around. I am certainly not in my room. "Hurry up Sera!" As I heard my name I saw a man running towards the 'me' in the scenario. "Get down sister! Zeph!" A man younger than me shouted and the two of them, the other guy, the one who shouted my name, and the one who called me sister released water and earth in the shape of a dragon. "Zeph, listen to me" 'I' said as I stared at her blurred face but her eyes are clear, "I want you to fly to them. I will handle this. Please, I can't let anyone of you get hurt because of me." 'I' said and she just looked at me straight into the eyes, telling me to be safe. "Please be safe Lady Sera, or else Sir Zale and Vermont will be the end of me." 'I' smiled at her and then pushed her away from 'me'. A ball of thunder came to me and hit me directly. If this is the future, I can't let this happen. ______________ I woke up and sat on my bed. Guess what? I am once again dreaming. "Sera." A male voice called me. His face is blurred but I can see his eyes clearly, it's like it's taking me to the deepest part of the ocean. "Come here. It's about to rain, we need to find shelter." He said, and 'I' nodded. Who is he? "Oh no, the soil, it's starting to mush." I am guessing that this is my brother, Vermont. "Lady Sera, the wind is blowing hard towards us. The heavens are also bothered by the wind." Said Zeph, since I still don't know her name. "There will be a typhoon, I hope the village is okay, this will be a strong one". I said and looked up to the sky. We took shelter somewhere near a big oak tree. With thunders roaring, I held the shirt of the guy next to me, Zale. "Sister, are you okay? You look pale." Vermont asked me while Zeph is clutching onto him. "I--" ________________ I woke up when a loud thunder roared across the sky. Zale, Zeph, Vermont. I stared in space, didn't know how many minutes have pas
"Hey! That's my toy!" I watch as the kid cries for her toy, being bullied by older kids. I stood up from the roof and walked away, I hate seeing such scenarios. I walked towards the Grymkin's forest, my clan's forest, this is where my clan moved after someone had spread a hideous rumor about us, which is true. Our clan controls fire. The kingdom has given us the title of "Grymkin's Protector" when in fact we can burn this forest down into ashes. As soon as I set my foot on the village's gate, Gran, my childhood friend, came running to me. "Sera! The elder Fyre is looking for you." He said. He guided me towards the elder's house but while walking he kept telling about nonsense and when we were near the elder's house, I got irritated and said, "For the record Gran, you are the noisiest man I've ever met." and walked away, leaving him smiling, don't ask me why that's just how he is. "Sera! Nice timing, the elder just sent me out to get you, she has--" I didn't bother to listen to the e
"Seraphina Agni, save our clan and come back safe. We need you, before our clan disappears, please, save the phoenix from crying..." My father said and dragged me with the book, outside our house and went to grandmama's, the Elder Fyre, and just barged in. "Elder Fyre, may you grant the great mission that I, the chief of our clan, has given to my daughter, Seraphina Agni." Said my father who knelt down instantly seeing my grandmama, my Mother's mother. Confused about what is going on, I am still processing what my father has said. I saw Grandmama saying something but I couldn't hear it. I was only staring at them until I heard a loud cry of a bird. I was startled and started to look around, but the only thing that I noticed is that everyone was just talking, it's like they didn't hear the cry. "Didn't you guys, hear the cry?" I asked curiously. I swear, I heard it. They all looked at me then look at each other. "Mother, you were right. Phina can hear the cry." My mother said to gr
Walking and following the guide that the book gave me surely is convenient. I know this forest better than anyone else in the village as I have explores this forest of ours for the past 10 years. This trail that I am taking is familiar, I looked at the familiar tree next to me. I smiled, memories of me sleeping and hiding from my Grandpapa flashed in my mind. I continued to walk towards the northern part of the forest, which I know will lead me to a beach. I got tired of walking, and I know that there is no much time left before a strong rain falls down the surface. I picked up my pace and began to run towards the beach. I should be able to take shelter in an abandoned beach house. I was nearing my way to the beach when I felt droplets of rain on my face. Oh no, the rain! I created a barrier surrounding me to protect me from the rain. I ran faster towards the beach. Greeting me was the huge waves hitting the shore. I regret not packing an umbrella. It was raining hard, yet we continued our trekking. "Are you really sure that you are okay with trekking in this kind of weather?" Zale asked for the nth time, I stopped walking and looked at him, his eyes looked worried."Honestly Zale, for the nth time, I am okay with water, it doesn't weaken me, don't ask how, I don't know either," I said reassuring him. He nodded, still he looks worried. We resumed walking, I slowed my pace because of the terrain, it was muddy and slippery, and it wasn't a good sign. The rain poured harder than earlier, but as it got harder, I got irritated. I put up a small barrier that could shield us from the rain, now, why didn't I thought of this earlier? The rain evaporated as it closes contact with the barrier as I set the temperature of my fire high enough to make the droplets evaporated,"Why didn't you thought of this earlier?" Zale asked and looked at the
I went near Zale as I was getting kind of seasick. The fishy smell of the ocean gets my nose sensitive. But the breeze helps me to calm down."Hey, you okay?" Zale asked me as he puts my cloak back on my body. I smiled at him and he just stared at me and looked away. I kind of pouted in my mind because he doesn't need to act cold around me. I just stared at the wide and carefree ocean, with its calm waves hitting the boat.I laughed because I kept saying boat, when in fact that it's a ship. We are going north, where mountains have risen and stood high. I wonder why the books want us to go there?"That is because..." as I heard grandpapa and Zale's mother spoke, I jumped in surprise. I wasn't expecting grandpapa nor Zale's mother to show up. "I am sorry my darling Zale, it seemed like that I, too surprised you". said Zale's mother."Because of what? Grandpapa?" I asked. I was g
