Chapter 14 Your Girlfriend Isn’t Some Great Person

“Finding a parking space took me some time.” The one who came was none other than Sam. He said, “Miss Radcliff, did you see anything you liked? If not, let’s go somewhere else.”

Yvonne endured the pain as she shouted loudly at Sam, “Don’t be fooled by her! Your girlfriend isn’t some great person. She’s incredibly dirty!”

Sam did not even look at her and only said to Jenna, “Miss Radcliff, let’s go.”

The two quickly left the store.

Yvonne watched as the two simply walked away, so angry that she wanted to scream.

She took out her phone to call the police station, only to find out that the deputy chief was on a business trip and the security cameras in the store were not on. Since she had no substantial evidence, the police naturally could not arrest Jenna.

Was watching Jenna walk free all she could do?

The more she thought about it, the more Yvonne felt aggrieved. She left her two friends and headed to Seabright.

Shawn Sadler was looking through some documents when he heard a knock at the door and raised his head. “Why are you here?”

“Shawn.” Yvonne walked over and directly sat on his lap as she said aggrievedly. “I met Jenna at the mall earlier and had a few words with her. As a result…”

She took off her mask. Her cheeks were still very swollen even after icing, and she looked incredibly disheveled.

Shawn’s brows furrowed. “She slapped you?”

Yvonne nodded. “Didn’t I tell you that someone came to the police station to bail Jenna out? It turns out he’s a personal driver around his thirties. Didn’t you say she wasn’t going to be so disgraceful with her family gone?”

“I was going to give her some money, considering the fact that we’re friends, and told her not to do such things anymore so her parents in the afterlife wouldn’t be sad. However, she not only didn’t take it, but she even slapped me and scolded me…”

Listening to Yvonne describe what had happened, a cold glint flashed across Shawn’s eyes.

When Yvonne went to the hospital to look for the old Mrs. Radcliff, angering her to death, and arranged for people to enter the detention center and torment Jenna, he had known and even tacitly agreed to it.

The Radcliffs owed him too much. With their debts unconsidered to be cleared even after death, he did not want Jenna to have an easy time either.

Now, hearing Yvonne say Jenna had willingly degraded herself and got together with an old man just to get out of the detention center, he felt incredibly uncomfortable in his heart.

The man’s grip on her shoulder suddenly increased in strength.

Yvonne was in so much pain that she could not help but cry out. “Shawn, you’re hurting me!”

“Ice your face again so that the swelling goes down.” Shawn let go, his tone very indifferent. “There’s a banquet tonight at eight. All the attendees are distinguished businessmen. Don’t embarrass me.”

“Okay.” Seeing that he was not in a good mood, Yvonne sensibly did not complain further.

That night, at 7:30 p.m., a Maybach stopped in front of the main entrance of Maxim Hotel.

Maxim Hotel was the only six-star hotel in Hevedburgh and regularly entertained foreign guests, as well as hosted various banquets, dinners, and… weddings.

The car had not yet reached the hotel when Jenna recognized the hotel as the one she and Shawn had held their wedding at.

Past memories flooded her mind and overwhelmed her, making it hard to breathe.

She suppressed her feelings and pursed her lower lip to ask Sam, “The banquet Mr. Forester mentioned is going to be held here?”

That afternoon, once they had picked out her clothes and were about to head back, Sam suddenly received a call and informed Jenna that Mr. Forester was to take part in a banquet that night and needed her accompaniment.

Then, they chose an evening dress and got her hair done before dropping her off at the location.

“Yes, it’s being held at Banquet Hall 3.” Sam passed an invitation to Jenna. “Mr. Forester still has some matters to attend to at the company. I’m going to pick him up now. Miss Radcliff, you can go ahead and enter first.”

Banquet Hall 3… What a coincidence.

Jenna laughed bitterly and took the invitation from Sam. “Alright. Drive safe.”

She then exited the car and entered the hotel.

When she reached the door to the banquet hall, Jenna could not help but recall the scenes from her wedding.

Under the audience’s cheers, she kissed Shawn and smiled sweetly and happily…

The server saw Jenna sway a little with a pale face and could not resist asking, “Miss, are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” Jenna shook her head.

She thought of her dead parents, her grandmother, and Shawn Sadler’s frigid gaze. She pursed her lips tightly and walked into the banquet hall with large strides.

How sweet and happy it had been then when she married Shawn was equivalent to how much hatred she had now!

The hall was bustling with toasts and lively exchanges.

Even though Jenna had lost a lot of weight, being from a wealthy family, she was born with an excellent disposition. Adding to that a good foundation and a black strapless dress with a long slit, she drew most of the gazes within the hall.

The lights in the banquet hall shone on her beautiful shoulders. Her long eyelashes slightly lowered, giving her the slight impression of being delicately pitiful.

All she did was stand there silently, yet she looked so beautiful that it was moving.

The gazes of the men at the scene were fixed on her, and someone could not resist murmuring, “How beautiful…”

“What’s the use of being beautiful?” a woman said derisively. “What about not being satisfied with her marriage and even having a lover outside?”

“That’s right! How did the Radcliffs manage to educate such a daughter?!”
