The long-haired girl had her hand placed behind Thomas’s neck, her head hiding his face from me. The terrifying thing was, he did not pull away. He stayed like that with her for a not-very-short moment. It was one of those situations when you see something awful, but you just can’t look away.
“It’s not that big of a deal,” Thomas finally broke their kiss and moved to climb on the stage. “My band is here often.”
I was still stunned near our table, but when the girl turned to face me, I picked up my jaw from the floor and swallowed.
“Hi there. I am Mia. Welcome to our humble karaoke slash dance club,” she smiled pleasantly, and moved to sit next to Adam.
I followed her and sat on the ottoman close to Samuel. “Alice, nice to meet you,” I said to her, not sure if she car
As soon as Samuel disappeared inside The Bomb, I knew I shouldn’t go in the rose garden right now. I turned on my heels and went to lean on his rusty car, ignoring Thomas. He, of course, followed me and stopped less than a meter from me. He was just watching me with a perfect, but now unreadable face. I bit the inside of my cheek and raised my eyebrow at him, showing I had no idea what he was doing. “Are you going to say something, or you will just stand there, enjoying the view?” I challenged him with a smirk. “Oh, I could tell you so many things right now. Half of them the opposite of the other half,” he responded, nervously. I smiled at his answer, thinking maybe he had mixed fe
My first reaction would have been to run back upstairs and lock myself in my room, but Alex’s words caught my attention. Taking some steps back, I crossed my arms on my towel and gave him a look that said I-don’t-trust-you-but-you-can-speak. He seemed to be carefully considering what he was going to say. I could see an apology all over his face. Was he playing with me? Was he going to lie to me like I feared Thomas would when we met? Alex’s behavior reminded me of a scared sheep, left outside after nightfall. “Speak or get out of my way,” I bit with a confident voice. My hair was still dripping wet and tiny water drops were tickling the skin on my forearms, falling on the floor. I was feeling uncomfortable and naked. I just wanted to hear whatever he had to say and go somewhere where he was not. “I've wanted to talk to you since the day after the party. When I sobered up, I couldn’t stop thinking of what I said and did…” Alex’s eyes were glued to his shoes while he was speaking,
Linda’s message said that she must kiss the person she cares the most here, but all the people were strangers until a few hours ago. I was the only person she could pick if she wanted to follow the rules. We stared at each other and silence fell around us, everybody waited to see what Linda would do. I questioned in my head if she would do such a thing and why I should agree to it if it’s not my message. It was hers. She was still gaping, and I figured she must be waiting for me to say something to help her escape from this. I relaxed, but I was surprised by her sudden move, as her raspberry glossed lips touched mine. I was stunned and did not respond to her kiss. Linda pulled away to look at my face, a breath away. Then again she gently graced her li
It was a cold, fall morning and the clothes Tina picked for me were actually very comfortable. I felt cozy in the warm black vest, made of soft wool. Its treads were delicately twisted on the edges on its whole length up, reaching almost to my knees. Under it, I had a simple white button shirt, tucked in dark blue jeans. No heels for me today, as cute black flats finished off my attire. I pulled up my hair in a messy bun, banishing Tina out of my room, so I could finally leave and meet Linda. Driving with half of my attention, I managed to reach the school parking without creating a car crash. When I neared the usual place where I park my car, I saw Linda sheepishly scrolling through her phone, resting on a bench. “Please tell me you are not breaking up with me,” I attempted a joke walking towards her. She lifted her head to look at me with a faint smile. Something squeezed my heart, causing real pain when I saw the dark circles under her cute almond-shaped eyes. “Tell me!” I demand
I walked to the back of the house, followed by the cold attitude of the hot guy I liked. I had prepared the place where we were to stay for the next two or three hours. Ivalina made some kind of Bulgarian brownies with orange crusts, and I got a thermos with hot white chocolate. Two teacups and a big plate of the doughy delicacy were resting on a small table with two garden chairs nearby. “It’s a little chilly today and with the ocean breeze, it’s even colder. I thought that we might need a warm drink and a snack while we were here,” I explained and showed the table to the famous boy. “Thank you. I have no idea what this is, but I am actually a little hungry,” Thomas said, and I smiled. There was a saying I knew from Ivalina, and I secretly hoped it was true. She often told me that “the way to a man’s heart goes
I struggled with my concentration, as I made a sketch of Thomas’s perfect features. After that, I needed to add every curve and detail that made him so hot and irresistible…or maybe he was that alluring only for me because of the way he was treating me, and the sparks he ignited with only a simple touch or intense glance in my direction. I knew I had a huge crush on him, and he had some feelings for me. Thomas wasn’t aware of how attractive he was for me. I was ready to let go of my defenses and let him in my heart. I wasn’t going to confess anything like that, or at least I wasn’t planning on it. Just next time when he wants me as his girlfriend--I would not hesitate to show him how my feelings towards him had evolved. Fighting my thoughts, I was making precise moves on the canvas with my right hand. My eyes were stopping on every part of his face, my breath
Standing in front of the mirror, I was amazed at Tina’s never-ending ideas to pick the wrong style for me. I had long leather pants, a long-sleeved top, matching and both snow-white. Some gold-ish zippers were closing tiny pockets over my breasts and under my waist. I felt like a white snake or something. I love white, but without the black, I felt like half of me and like I was a magnet for random stares at school.I put on tar eyeliner and mascara in a futile attempt to help even the fight between my favorite colors. I kept my hair in a ponytail, happy Tina wasn’t able to push her hairstyle ideas on me today. It was another cold morning and chills ran through my body, causing my hairs to stand erect. Unhappy with the thin leather clothes I had on, I climbed in my car, turning on the heat and the radio. I was in a mood to find a new favorite band o
I gaped at my step-brother, but no words came out of my mouth. So I am not good for a spy. “Why were you following me? Did you tell someone?” His face morphed from threatening to worried and angry. “What do you think you saw?” he tilted his head with a menacing glare. Behind Steven, I saw Samuel coming our way, and I came to my senses. I did not want to cause a scandal, I wanted to be finished with this right this second. If we had to go out for this--we would go out. “I saw enough to know you might be in trouble, but I--” I started confidently, but he rudely cut me off. “It’s not your fucking business to know what I do! Stay out of it, do you hear me?” He raised his voice, some people turning their heads in our direction to steal a look.
I couldn’t help but gawk at her. What did I do to deserve that? This was our first time talking, after all.“I am not going to listen to your mean threats any longer. You better move away from my car and me.” I furrowed my brows at the demon in front of me and reached for my keys.“Stop right there, Alice! This should be enough. Do not unlock or enter the car!” Thomas ordered me, hastily approaching us with a worried expression.I took a step away from my Honda and smiled at him.Yeah, we had enough!“Hi there, stalker.” He said to the surprised girl, gazing at his features like he was her God.
Professor Mark Anderson was very excited to finally see some of my drawings. We talked and agreed I would start seeing him, so he could shape me into a diamond before I even started college, assuring me there wasn’t much to do because I really did breathe through my art. I had some sweet red tea in old expensive china with the wrinkled bald man, as we discussed what I could do and what painting materials would fit better to my style. He showed me his favorite teaching art books and some painting techniques, I was eager to try as soon as I could. I left his home feeling good about myself and proud of what I had in me without any special lessons. The professor was so kind and friendly, it made our meeting very pleasant. As soon as I had my life in line after the move, I was going to visit this old man and trust his skills to help me go to a great college.
With widened eyes, our group listened at the offensive mad girl. I had a feeling this was the key to figuring out my problem. “Chill, Sarah! You can’t control everybody. You tried, maybe you just need to give up.” I recognized Olivia’s voice. “Chill?! Give up?! You are retarded, aren’t you!” The angry one screamed and there were some rustling sounds. “Don’t push me! It’s not my fault they got together.” Olivia complained. “Oh, God!” Linda exclaimed, but Steven placed his pointer finger on his lips to keep her from talking. "But I thought Sarah had a different surname..." “I don’t know why I keep you around. I will make her pay, I will separate them. How can I make him see she is not the girl for him?” Sarah kept on yelli
The place was decorated like a frozen forest, welcoming the season outside. Leafless trees were spread around us with crystallized branches. Snowflakes were hanging from the ceiling on invisible strings, some of them almost reaching our heads. Fake snow just hung at our feet, lifting a bit from the air when we walked near it. Dim blue and white lights were making me feel like I was really outside in the forest at night, but despite the cold decorations, I was warm and could enjoy my stay without my nose turning red. Tina and her people had made an amazing snow night dance atmosphere. She knew it and was proudly standing on one of the silver tables near the entrance. Linda looked stunning, laughing and proudly holding my step-sister’s hand. I complimented them on their look-alike dresses, and for the next twenty minutes, we just chilled while watching
“Get away from me, you bitches!” Jane yelled, as we pinned her like a butterfly, holding her hands up to her head before she could respond to Barbie's slap. “Do you think you can offend my sister in front of me and get away with it?” Tina growled, and I blinked at her, almost losing my rage from surprise. “Who do you think you are? You might be rich and pretty, but I don’t give a damn.” Jane spit, her eyes narrowed from hatred. “She is the most popular girl at the school where you are about to play tomorrow night. If I was you, I would think twice before messing with her. She is the frickin’ queen.” I hissed at her. “What queen, let go of me!” She struggled in a futile try to free herself. “What is going on here? Should
Afraid of the answer, I still asked Linda what had made her incapable of talking. “It’s amazing, Al. I have a girlfriend. Can you believe it?!” She yelled in my ear. I sighed in relief, allowing the air to enter my lungs again. “Lin, you almost gave me a heart attack,” I scolded her. “I thought the mental jealous fan of Thomas had done something again.” “Didn’t you hear what I just said? Um, and yeah! My girlfriend said your shoebox became very popular today--receiving messages every few hours.” Linda announced, clouding my mind. “Messages? Your girlfriend?” I gaped at her, adjusting a family portrait on the wall in front of me, but the answers came at the same time I figured them out. “Tina!” Linda and I said in unison.
The night was warm…even hot. Thomas’s skin was like the werewolf’s in the movies - like a cozy fire. When we went to sleep, there was some addictive tension between us. As we laid on our backs, I wondered if I should make a slight move to touch his hand or maybe trace his cheekbone with my fingers. He seemed to be deep in thought, too, seeming careful to not touch me without an invitation. It was a long naive game we played until he finally gave in to his desires and leaned over me to kiss me. We were making out for half an hour and I swear my lips felt swollen before I closed my eyes, giving in to the exhaustion of the day, resting my head on Thomas’s shoulder. I loved it when it was just the two of us. I was getting too attached to this boy, who now seemed to have become a lot more than some crush. I was deeply falling for him and no stalker or other force
“I believe you,” I said truthfully, and something lifted from my chest like I needed to say this for years. “I guess the signs were always there, but I just ignored them…refused to pay attention to them. It was easier this way. Father is a force that a kid could not go against.”By the way Annabeth looked at me, I could see the relief and joy my words created. She leaned forward from her place on the sofa and kneeled in front of me to hug me, squeezing tight, incapable of showing her deep emotions in any other way. I responded by snuggling in with her and trying not to become a crybaby.“Oh, Alice! My sweet girl…you have grown so wise. Of course, you could not fight Robert--even I couldn’t back then.” She cried again in the hair behind my shoulder.“Did h
The village was small and lush streets led us to the center; the shops from Annabeth’s photo present. The sun painted the buildings in yellow-orange, and even if it wasn’t hiding behind the clouds, it was pretty cold outside. Thomas and I got out of the car and walked a few meters to reach the main street. The pressure was eating me from the inside until my eyes landed on the shop line from the photo. “Yes!” I jumped on my place, glad I had found the right village. “Now let’s go and ask someone about her.” Impatiently, I started walking towards the local grocery store in front of us. When I didn’t hear Thomas’s steps following behind me, I turned to stare at him with confusion all over my face. “Why do you think they would know about her?” he scratched his head, look
