Darwin’s POV

“Wow…”

Kevin only chuckled softly. While me…I was mind-blown what happened to the two. To them.

Love indeed moves in a mysterious way—and in the most unexpected times.

Gyzell might be a bitch. But even a snake has a beating heart, every creature has one to be frank.

I immediately halted when my phone lit up, and I looked at who the caller was.

Speaking of the devil, it was Gyzell.

“Hello?” I answered, because I have no choice but to answer especially when Kevin is staring at me as if to say ‘answer it, bro’.

“Darwin…” Her voice seems to be deeper, peculiar than usual. Like the voice of someone who just recently cried. “Where’s Kevin?”

“Where’s Ke-Oh…” For heaven’s sake, this was Kevin’s phone. That’s why he looks at me as if he’s going to devour me for answering his call. Not what I thought.

“Here.” I spoke in a voiceless manner and he immediately grabbed the p

Kevin’s POVThe weather is cloudy outside. But for me, it’s like the sun has never left my soul. There she is, sitting on the very corner of this fine dining restaurant, wearing beauty as always. She’s wearing a ruby blouse with a garnet brooch and blue fitting jeans. Her belt glints like diamond as the light of the chandelier cast upon it. But Gyzell herself is more than any jewel. She’s a diamond in the rough. I inhaled and exhaled, then proceeded to walk towards her. A waiter bowed before me and I requested a bottle of champagne for two on table fourteen. He said the young lady had already ordered a bottle of rose wine, along with two wine glasses. Rose wine…. I thought. She is now the one who proclaimed this meeting as a date. A freaking, sweet-with-classical-music date. I was wearing a simple plain white polo shirt. It looks sexy, at least according to my mother. I lied to her that I am finally dating someon

Minerva’s POVIt had been days since she confessed to me. We didn’t talk for a while. Well, the ‘while’ had been weeks now. And I presume it will be longer. The weather in the Grays’ private island is cozy and sunny. Of course, what do you expect for a signature island of the family of billionaires? I heard this belongs to Damon’s. I wonder what Darwin’s own island looks like… To be frank, I’m worried about Mariella. I hope she’s not drinking herself into insanity again. But, it seems impossible. I’ve never seen a woman crazy for me like Mariella. I didn’t even know that I am pretty much that attractive to my fellow ladies. Or is it only to Mariella? Darwin said earlier to enjoy myself here in Isla de Rubia. I doubt I will. My thoughts on my bestfriend made me just sit here and bathe under the cold sun. Some of the Gray Co. employees are here. Though I did not see Kevin. Damon once told me that the party will las

Jocelyn’s POVHer phone rang and she immediately answered it. How dare she prioritize a random phone call over me? I am Jocelyn Gray, the great and only self-made billionaire. Well, not so much of a self-made person as my parents are already multi-millionaires. I just doubled, tripled, my income compared to theirs. “Minerva…” She didn’t budge at me and still continued to talk to that woman named Mariella. Her back is facing me just a few meters away. I wonder if I pinch her ankle, will she fall down hard? Is it enough to eliminate Darwin’s heir on her fucking womb? Never mind, Damon’s eyes are at me. He’ll definitely put something on my drink tonight again. I grabbed my cigarette by myself. As soon as I was about to bring it on my lips, my phone lit up. “I want to see you naked, babe…” Damn, does my boyfriend know that I am on vacation? Why is he bothering me this time of year?

  • Paid to the Billionaire   Chapter 38

Minerva’s POVI knew this was going to happen. I look at the people around me. Even Darwin’s eyes…I can’t. I can’t even look him in the eye. Did he really fall for his stepmother’s clown show again? Well, I can’t blame him. Blood is thicker than water. And considering my status, I am not a real family member yet. I am not a Gray after all. “You’re Darwin’s fiancée right?” This woman came to me without even introducing herself. I looked at her from head to toe, assessing her. Her sunflower-printed bikini matches her skin tone, not bad. She has a nice body and lovely face. I wonder if those are all natural or ‘crafted’ by a professional. “Yes,” I said with a chin up. “And who are you?” She seems to smirk at my tone of voice. “I am Lyla Roberts, Darwin’s former secretary.” “Oh…” “And his former fuck buddy.” Lyla stared at my blank face. Why is it that every

Gyzell’s POVKevin pushed harder to me as I gripped tightly on the hem of the bathroom curtains. He held my bosom as he rocked harder, thrust faster. I can feel him in my stomach. This is strange, I know. But at least it’s more romantic than our first time. Slow, gentle, kissing, then slow again. Then, he transitioned to a faster, feral, and wilder pace. The bathroom curtains were now on the floor, as well as the rod that held it. I moved closer to the toilet bowl and lowered its cover. Facing him while sitting atop it, I opened wider for him. Here, in this very moment, he slid his material into the wetness of mine. I have nothing to grip. So, I grabbed his hair and pulled his face gently to me. He tried to kiss me, but I dodge away. A minute has passed and I am almost laying atop the toilet as if it was a bed. It hurts down there. But love hurts, I would even let it bite me after all those tears that

  • Paid to the Billionaire   Chapter 40

Gyzell’s POVI just waited for Kevin to finish his glass of homemade wine as I rubbed my seafood-filled belly. Boy, how fresh their food is! I’d definitely sell my soul for another round of this feast. “Let’s do it now, Kevin,” I purred. “Let’s do it now that the people are in a good mood and aren’t on the party mode yet.” Kevin snorted. I looked around again and I realized why he snorted at me. The people had long gone partying since the break of dawn. It’s the second day of the company’s party and people seem to never run out of energy. Some are still dancing their bodies until their soul leaves the earth. Others were drinking and grilling seafood and meat while telling stories of their younger years. There are also others who are cloaked by the shadows, singing songs of pleasure that came from their bodies. Kevin, though slightly intoxicated, lifted up his wine glass and made a ringing sound using a table knife.

  • Paid to the Billionaire   Chapter 41

Raymond’s POVLyla thought that I was Darwin. I can only say one word: fuck. She’s good. Well, she’s always been this good. But the feeling of her tongue playing me is epic. Tasty and insane, but darkly delicious. I don’t know if she’s only acting by seeing me as Darwin. I can say that she has finally wanted to reconnect back with me. Through this. Through this enactment or whatsoever that women call. Oh yes, I know the words: role playing. She’s roleplaying that she sees me as her former boss. But why? Or perhaps she’s— “You still taste good, Darwin…” I should tell her, before she delves further. “Lyla…” I sing her name, sending it into the cool breeze of the night. I wanted to stop her. But my heart says otherwise. Forbidden things are more delicious as they say. I looked up to see Darwin staring right at us. “Ehem!” She immediately spit me

  • Paid to the Billionaire   Chapter 42

Mariella’s POVShe rejected me. But she still kissed me—on my forehead and cheeks before she turned her back at me. Sitting a few meters from where I was standing was the man who offered Minerva a ride on that very day. Lushan Angeles is drinking. Twelve bottles of beer were on his table, along with a plate of sizzling pork and grilled strips of beef. My mind keeps on whispering to me that I’ll join him. But I can’t see myself drinking with him, striking a conversation with him. Being with him. He lifted his head and there’s no reason for me to turn my back away. Especially when he gestured by tapping the seat of the chair, beckoning me for a seat beside him. And God knows I really did sit beside him. Our bodies are a few inches from touching each other with every move. “Have you eaten yet?” I shook my head. “Here,” Lushan handed me the plate of grilled beef and called the waiter for a small bowl of ma

  • Paid to the Billionaire   Author's Note

So, this is my second book. My second book is one hell of a billionaire romance. *unbelievably screaming* I would never imagine writing a billionaire romance. Because, first of all, my focus is only for fantasy and paranormal and everything in between. But when I started writing billionaire romances, I realized that I should write more of these; that writing this genre is a delight and a challenge. So thank you my dear readers. If you’ve been able to read this part, thank you so much. If you’ve managed to read only a few of my book’s chapters, thank you as well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart—because an author would never be able to be a writer without even a single reader. Love you all

  • Paid to the Billionaire    The End is the Beginning (Bonus Scene)

In the Eyes of MinervaCyrene and Damon were finally bound together through the holiness of matrimony. It’s a delight, and a blessing to witness this glorious event—especially when Hemera Lou Miller-Gray, who just turned one year old, was sleeping like a lamb in my arms. The reception had ended and they were on their way to their consummation, which made me grin as the memories of the night of post-wedding love-making of me and Darwin made me blush. “How’s my little Hemera Lou Miller Gray?” Darwin asked as he brushed a kiss on my hair. “She’s sleeping soundly.” I looked up to my man, to my husband. “They are twins, darling.” Darwin’s face was flooded with joy and delight. “Really, babe? Yes!” “And they are both boys,” I added. He tried to hoist me from the ground but I insisted not to as he’ll wake the baby. My honey pie sweetheart just kissed me. But kisses are always the start of vigorous

  • Paid to the Billionaire   Chapter 50

Minerva’s POVThe reception is beyond beautiful. Though I was still panting due to me and Darwin’s long lips-to-lips fondue, the place felt as if we had finally entered the final circle of heavenly paradise to where His Holiness resides. Shades of sky blue and pink bathe the whole reception. One could mistake this as a lavish debut celebration due to the colors. But I don’t give a damn. This is my wedding. Our wedding. A fucking wedding and, whether one sees it as a teenage birthday party, I don’t care. Everything feels like a dream, everything feels as if I am walking in my own dream. A place that I thought I could only see when I slept. But with this…money can buy happiness truly. Upon entering, we are greeted with a man-made white chocolate fountain atop a water fountain, waters flowing down like a waterfall. Flowers play a huge role in this sophisticated scenery. Every inch of our wedding reception has flowers and candle lights and other glitter

  • Paid to the Billionaire   Chapter 49

Minerva’s POV“It’s about to start!” The maid of honor is more excited than the bride, than me. “I see handsome Darwin the billionaire waiting at the end of the aisle and he’s just as nervous and anxious as you!” She wiggled my nose before handing me the bouquet of flowers which consists of red roses, violets, lavender, pink carnation, and purple orchids. Gosh, I felt like holding the heavenly garden in my hands. “Go, marry him now,” Mariella did come back to me just to whisper that in my ear. “If you don’t, I know plenty of women, both young and old, who would.” I cackled, making my make-up artist frown for almost ruining her masterpiece in my face. Fifteen minutes later, as I was standing where we rehearsed yesterday. The priest finally came out and asked everybody to stand. All eyes are on me, which made me have another internal screaming episode. The flower girls lined the path with pink rose petals as the music started. I only took

  • Paid to the Billionaire   Chapter 48

Darwin’s POV“Look Lushan! You look like that fish!” Holding my fifth beer of the day, I immediately turned around to see Mariella teasing Lushan as she quickly pinched his cheeks. I never expected the two to see them here, the place where I ‘cloistered’ myself from everyone who knows me by drinking and weeping and plunging myself into deep thoughts, then drinking again. But with Mariella and Lushan’s presence…God, I never felt out of place as today. I pretended that I didn’t—I wasn’t in the bar in front of the large aquarium where several sea fauna were swimming before everyone’s eyes. “Oh really?” Lushan challenged. “You look like that puffer fish over there.” Mariella nudged his elbow. I am not single. In fact, I have a fiancée. But why the hell do I feel so goddamn small and lonely and unloved compared to these two? I’ve been a coward. I know that. I also know that I have been a jerk towards Minerva during our company out

  • Paid to the Billionaire   Chapter 47

Minerva’s POVShe was engaged to Damon, my soon to be father-in-law. I glanced at Cyrene, who was under the flowerless tree. In her arms was my child, Hemera Lou. It has been three months since I've been admitted to the hospital and I just managed to be discharged an hour ago. The sky is gray, as gray as the stone that rests atop the bed where Derrick eternally rests. I don’t care if it’s drizzling. I don’t care if I get wet as long as Cyrene and Hemera don't. I don’t give a damn if it will rain because, in my eyes, the world has long since been raining. Even with Darwin’s sunshine smile and moonbeam eyes, you can never keep rain from coming in my life. That no matter how bright the world is, one can never stop a rain from pouring. For after every rain, there is sunshine. And in every bright sunny day comes a cold and chilling rainy afternoon. People keep saying that I should move on. Yes, I have moved on. I definitely have a

  • Paid to the Billionaire   Chapter 46

Cyrene’s POVThe camera is still on and everything is recorded live. E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. Everything was unexpected, disheartening, and a shitful, goddamn surprise. Jocelyn was full of surprises, as she had always been. But her tearful confessions earlier…it’s like watching a telenovela that I didn’t even anticipate to watch. I watched her vanish on that door and checked the comments on my live stream that I even forgot to turn—it was a good thing also that I didn’t, frankly speaking. It has reached a fucking two hundred thousand views in just a matter of hour. I was astonished, flabbergasted, and gaping that even an elephant could fit in my mouth. I pressed stop and ended the live stream. I closed my laptop and grabbed my phone while I dial a number. Yet, I was confused on what number I should call. Should I call Darwin? Damon? The police? The mental hospital? I should probably call Minerva for a warning. “Hello?

  • Paid to the Billionaire   Chapter 45

Cyrene’s POVI got to start booktubing now. My fellow bookworms are waiting for me to talk live about the book I recently read, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I fixed my camera and the light, as well as other things I need to set up as I am new to this bookworm world. I only used to stand naked and have sex on camera back to the days when giving and providing pleasure is the reason why I manage to prepare a food on my table every meal and every day. I am glad I was able to escape from that living prison and I am now finally doing what I love and what seems ‘acceptable’ to the society. I clicked live and started filming. I greeted my audience first and stated my objectives for this live video as what I’ve read on a blog article. I may look like an idiotic whore who is forcing myself to be a booktuber but I am doing everything I could. I am exerting efforts that I cannot even imagine to give. I am willing to learn everythin

  • Paid to the Billionaire   Chapter 44

Minerva’s POVMariella is bearing little Hemera in her arms. I just recently woke up after a day and a half, and I immediately saw the two of them. I looked to the left and I found Darwin sleeping soundly on the coffee-colored couch. “How’s little Hemera?” I asked. Mariella Chu’s brows rose. “Hemera?” I tried to sit up but my head ended up falling back to the pillow. “Yes. Her name is Hemera Lou.” A shock look on her face made me cackle. “Why? You didn’t expect that we’ll name her sooner?” We because Darwin and I named her. In fact, it was only him who named her. I just added Lou as her second name, derived from my favorite young adult book series, Serpent & Dove. I glanced at him and I forced a smile. “How are you after that—“ I took a breath, a pause before continuing. ”That rejection of your offer?” Why do I make it sound like Mariella is offering me a huge business deal and I simply jus
