I sat on the bed for a while, pondering: if Aaron didn’t return, did it mean the end for me? What would the pack do to me in their Alpha’s absence? Would I become prey again? Alarms rang in my mind; my wolf stirred restlessly, growling for us to flee and hide. May the Goddess protect us in the forest—it was better than the uncertainty of the Lycan King's claws. I sniffed the air, detecting the nuances of scents. There was only one wolf standing guard at the door. Feeling around, I noticed the window opened easily. I leaned forward, running my hands along the frame to “see” if there was a roof I could climb onto to escape. Nervously, I placed one foot, then the other, on the ledge, gripping the sides as my sense of smell worked overtime.
Suddenly, the door burst open with a loud bang, and the nauseating scent along with Kemilly’s shrill, irritating voice filled the room hysterically.
