"Mum, they said that they can cover only half of the tuition," I told my mother. I could feel my eyes burning up from the tears. I couldn't believe that this was happening again. I had applied for an education loan to pay for my studies. I had just gotten over the phone with them and they told me that they wouldn't be able to cover the full fees. Usually, they could cover up the full fees, but my profile didn't have the strong financial support that would be able to pay off the loan if I couldn't do so in the future. I didn't know how I could arrange for the rest of the money.

"Why can't

" I am still going to go!" I announced. Finally, coming out of my room after a week of moping. The past week had been all sorts of emotions. I cried I hoped my heart would finally stop whenever I cried; I thought of the possibilities of taking a year gap, I thought about the possibilities of going with it and the things I had to do in order to survive, I thought about how things would be different if dad was here and I decided to be selfish and stubborn for once."What do you mean?" My mother asked, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion."I am going to the University of Edinburgh in three months." I clarify."But what about the money?" My mother quickly adds. I could feel my anger making an appearance; I pushed it back."I will take whatever loan I can get from the bank. The scholarship would cover a part of it too. For the rest of it, I will find a way." I reply."How will you come up with the remainder. It's a pretty hu

"Keep in touch, alright." My classmates kept adding every time I spoke to one of them. I gave a tight smile, pretending that not having the everyday remainder of them is going to hurt me. Honestly, I would miss only a few of them. I was definitely not going to miss this college. It could go and fuck itself.I was just about to finally leave the college grounds when I heard someone call my name."Celeste." I turned around to see that it was Carter who was calling my name. I suddenly remembered that I hadn't said farewell to him. I had to been avoiding him since the 'juice day' that we had. I didn't want to stop that now, but it was too late now."Hey." He says once he is standing right in front of me."Hey," I reply."So this is it.""Yeah. I guess so. Finally!" I add with a chuckle. He smiles at that."I didn't know that you would pull that." He says, gesturing to my suit. I look down and then

"You packed everything, right?" My mother asked for the 100th time today."Yes, mom. I did. " I replied, rolling my eyes slightly.Today was the day that I was finally leaving. I was excited as well as nervous at the same time."The taxi is here," I say to my mother. She nods her head."Let's go." My sister Sylvia says, swinging one of my bags on her shoulders. I drag my suitcases with me, my mother taking a few with her too.I had thought that maybe I would have to put some of my bags in cargo, but thankfully all of my things could be taken at once itself. The other necessities we could buy it there later. The cab driver helps us hoist the luggage in the boot of the car and the things that don't fit there I place them on my lap in the backseat.I watch as I get farther and farther from home, my nerves were jittery."Don't forget to call me as soon as you reach. And text me when y

"Would you like a club sandwich?" The air-hostess asks us, dragging her food cart."Is it vegetarian?" Phoebe enquires."No. But we do have veg sandwiches. Would you like one mam?" She asks her."Can I have a club sandwich?" I ask her."Me too." Alexandra quips. She hands us our sandwiches before making her way towards the other passengers."A ham sandwich, huh, Alexandra?" Phoebe questions, her eyebrows raised."We are up in the air baby. I am no longer obliged to follow my parent's traditions." She says.I chuckle at that. The thing was Alexandra and Phoebe were both vegetarians since birth. Although Alexandra is quite a rule breaker when it comes to eating habits, Phoebe is a strict vegetarian."If they serve alcohol, I am taking it without hesitation," Alexandra says."Nope. You will do no such thing. You are a sad drunk, and this is a long journey. S

I woke up to the sound of Phoebe trying to wake us up. I sat up on the bed, my mind trying to process my surrounding. I was confused for a second before I remembered that we had reached Edinburgh. I rubbed my eyes and face planted myself on the bed again. My body felt sore, and all I wanted to do was to sleep the tiredness away."A few more minutes!" I whine. My face still squished against the hotel blankets. The temperature was still cold, although it was summer in Scotland."Get your ass out of bed Celeste," Phoebe says, throwing a pillow at me."Geez, I am up woman," I reply. I stay in bed a little while, staring into the wall ahead of me, contemplating whether it was even worth getting out of bed."Soon," Phoebe adds."Ughh," I whine, before finally getting out of bed. I take my toiletries and go towards the bathroom. I freshen up and try to tame my hair that looked like a nest on top of my head.I com

"Hello, Girls!" Robert greeted. We each shook hands with him, greeting him and introducing ourselves."How do you find Edinburgh so far?" He questions."Like a fairytale," I answered."Yeah, I usually hear it a lot. I am glad that you like it here." He said with a smile."Shall we go ahead and check out the apartments?" He questioned. We nodded our heads and let him lead the way. We had informed Robert that we needed to find an apartment that was close to the university, so that we wouldn't waste much time and expenses on travel. He had informed us that the apartments closer to the university were a little expensive, but that he would make sure that we find a reasonable one.Robert spoke to us openly, making jokes here and there. His warm personality brightened up the room. He was as old as my father, and talking to him reminded me of the very thing that I was missing. This was not the time to start crying, Celeste!&nb

'This is my bedroom. I will have to set it up later and also unpack my bags later.' I tell my mother, showing her my bedroom on the video call."You have such a nice view. I am so jealous of you.' My sister butts in.'You are always jealous of me Sylvia, for reasons that I am yet to know of.' I replied, rolling my eyes at her.'What have you girls planned to do today. Exploring the city yet?' my mother questions. I sit down on the bed and turn the camera towards me.'We planned to go grocery shopping and get some items for the apartment. Exploring the city will be for someday later.' My mother nods her head.'Okay, I will end the call. You go do what you have to do." I bid both of them goodbye before ending the call.I place my phone on the nightstand that was beside the bed. I made a mental note to unpack my bags after we were done with shopping.I walked back and forth in my room, taki

"This lights can go here," I suggest. We had been decorating the apartment for a while now. We were done with all the arranging and setting up. Us working together helped us finish the work much sooner than we anticipated."Let's make mac and cheese tonight," Alexandra says."Yes! The kitchen looks so pretty now. It makes me want to cook." I reply."Let's celebrate with some alcohol. Let's celebrate this new apartment, us being here. Everything." Phoebe says."Then I guess we will need something more special than simple mac and cheese," I add."I know just what to do," I exclaimed, clapping my hands in excitement."I am going to do Gnocchi, but I don't like it when too many people are there in the kitchen. So leave that to me." I say. They nod their heads."Then I will make some roasted butter garlic mushrooms and some roasted broccoli. " Alexandra pipes in."And I will get the wi

“I am sorry. I am late.” I apologise to the teacher before entering the class. She doesn’t pay any attention to me and continues with her class. I take the first empty seat that I find. I pant in my seat, the exertion from running and climbing the stairs finally catching up to me. My chest hurt with every deep breath that I took. My calves were on fire, and my side felt like it had a million needles stabbing it. I was sweating, my body trying to get back to its normal condition.“Excuse me.” I hear another voice say. I look up to see that it was Luke who entered. Looks like I wasn’t the only one who was running late.He walks in my general direction, and for a second I think he is going to take a seat beside me. I give him a smile as a greeting. He glares at me and completely ignores the empty seat beside me. A frown graces my face. I look behind me to see where he was seated, and I notice that he was sitting with C

“Trust me I wasn’t trying to seduce you,” I reply, fighting off the heat and getting my composure back. He lifts one eyebrow up as though he couldn’t believe it.“Felt like it, though.” He says. I look him straight in the eye, and he sits up straight, feeling the change in my demeanour.I lean forward, suddenly feeling powerful.“That was anything but seducing. If I was to seduce, you wouldn’t have been able to hold up your composure or stand straight for that matter.” I whisper. His eyes widen, and he suddenly looks out of breath. I sit back, a smirk playing on my lips. I loved how powerful this made me feel. I hadn’t done this before, and somehow Gabrielle was arousing a side of me that I didn’t know existed. The limo comes to a stop, and I scoot towards the door, getting ready to get out of the limo. Before I close the door behind me, I pop my head back in the lim

Honestly, I would willingly do something stupid just to piss off the people around me and not get called to these things. Well, I guess I had to bear with these things if I wanted to be paid then yes.I hide my phone on my lap, and I browse through Instagram. I don’t think it’s proper etiquette to be on your phone while you are eating in a social setting. But in my defence, I was alone, and I didn’t want to stare at people while I shoved food in my mouth.“Boo!” I hear a whisper in my ears, and I nearly drop my phone and my fork. I look up to see that it was Harold who did that.“Jesus, you almost gave me a heart attack,” I exclaim, holding a hand to my chest. He takes a seat opposite me and dives into his plate of food.“tch, tch. It’s so rude to be on your phone when there are people around you.” He says, shaking his head.“I was bored,” I

Gabrielle has been talking to this group of people for so long now. Not even ten minutes into the conversation, and I found myself zoning out. There was a lot of talk about money, deals and statistics. Yes, I could understand some of it; I had done a short online course on accounts a year back. It was a necessity, as my father was no longer there to help with the accounts stuff, a subject he was so good at, and I took it as my mission to learn a few basics and take his place. But all of this was just a little too much, and it was quite boring.I wanted to leave; I kept sneaking glances at the people around us. I was hungry, and I could feel my stomach grumbling. It was around eight now, and yet very few of them had bothered enough to have dinner; the rest of them seemed too caught up with their conversations.I glanced at the food table and felt my stomach grumble once again. Would it be rude if I excused myself and helped myself with some food? Ugh, this s

I politely smile at the people while Gabrielle leads me further into the hall. The hall was so huge that it made even a crowd like this look small. I wanted to duck my head, but wherever we went, I could feel the stares in my back. The stares weren’t much directed at me but at Gabrielle. People looked at him as though he was the king of a large country. I guess he kind of was in a way in the world of business. This made me wonder, what a twisted fate it was for me to come across a man so powerful, forget about having him as my sugar daddy. It all felt like a dream to me.The smile soon slips from my face, and I find myself looking at my surrounding me with awe. Huge chandeliers hung from the ceiling, glittering like diamonds under the warm lighting. Rich curtains draped around the place, and a huge table was set aside, displaying various kind of food items. The centre was empty, soft music playing the background so that people could dance yet nobody m

I wait for a minute or two for someone to open the door. Usually, I would have done it, but I didn’t really know where to go, and a part of me was scared of what was out there.I move towards the door and grab the handle. Just as I was about to open the door, it swings open from the outside.I peek outside to see that it was Gabrielle who opened the door. I take his hand that he offered and climb out of the car. Getting out of the car with heels on was really a pain. I let go of his hand as soon as I am standing.“Thank you,” I reply, giving him a smile. He checks me out openly, not even trying to look subtle in any way. I pretend that I don’t notice it. I give him a once over, sneakily from the corner of my eye.To say that he was looking handsome would be an understatement, he looked ethereal. He had a midnight blue suit on, which complemented my dress pretty well. He had a black-tie on, and a glittering e

I held the dress up against my body, already loving the feel of it. The dress was strapless, the bust was black that shone in the light. It had one shoulder, but the shoulder was the same as the flowy satin green skirt. The dress had a huge split on one side, the rest of the skirt was long, and it had a slight train. My eyes fell on two smaller boxes, one was creamish in colour and the other one was pink in colour.I first opened the creamish box and found a small chain and a bracelet in it. The chain was delicate, and I was scared that it would break in my hands, but surprisingly it was strong too. The bracelet was a simple silver bracelet with a small stone in the centre. I just hoped that it wasn’t a real stone.I opened the next box and gasped. I could feel the heat rushing to my face and turning it bright right. I gingerly lifted the lace lingerie that was of the same emerald green as the dress. Why did he have to buy me lingerie too

I hear my phone vibrate in my pocket. I ignore it and get back to making lecture notes. My phone vibrates again in succession. I frown, wondering who was it that was texting me at 8:30 in the morning.Having your phone vibrate against your leg was a weird feeling. It made my legs tickle whenever it did so. I wanted to take my phone out of my pocket and check who it was that was texting me now. I resisted the urge to do so and continued with the class.--As soon as the class was over, I whipped out my phone and checked my phone.Beautiful eyes: ‘ Are you free tonight?’My eyebrows furrowed. Who was beautiful eyes? It took me a minute to remember that I had saved Gabrielle’s number as beautiful eyes. I quickly texted him back.Me: ‘Yeah. What time?’He replies back after a minute.Beautiful eyes: ‘Around 7. ‘I could feel my heart beating.

His eyes had an evil glint to them, and a smirk was dancing on his lips.“I think it’s time you received a punishment.” He says, still walking towards me. I find myself backing away. For every step he takes towards me, I take one backwards.“Um, What are you doing William,” I ask, my voice wary. He doesn’t say anything. He continues walking towards me.“William, snap out of it,” I say, my eyes widening and fear actually gripping my heart.
