Ste wiped his mouth for the third time. For some reason, he seemed to be drooling. His eyes were doing the same, streaming a constant river of tears as he squinted in the midday sun.
The smell of antiseptic wasn't helping either. Ste had always hated the smell of hospitals. They were all the same, and while he understood they had to remain sterile for patient safety, the clinical coldness brought back memories he didn't want to relive.
When he reached ward 9, a motherly looking woman with a blonde perm looked up from the desk. 'Nurse Smith,' her badge read.
"I... erm, I'm h—here to see Adam," he stammered, feeling like a criminal. For a second, he thought she would shout at him to leave. Ask how he dared to show his face here, the murdering little scroat?
Instead, she smiled.
"Go straight in," she said and pointed to the room on the left. "Hand gel is on the wall."
Ste smiled, nodded, and stopped to squirt some of the gel into his hands only because he sensed her eyes on his back.
When he went into the room and found Adam awake, he felt his stomach dip as if he were on a rollercoaster. The only way he'd managed to talk himself into coming was to repeat the mantra, 'He'll definitely be asleep.'
"Hi," he said, barely managing to choke out the greeting. He felt sure Adam would lunge from the bed, grab him by the throat and strangle the life from him. He would deserve it.
"Sup, man?" was all Adam said. After a moment of silence, the bedridden boy looked him up and down. "What is this? You stab me and don't even bother to bring flowers?"
'You stab me.' The words sounded so harsh. So accusatory.
So apt.
"I'm so sorry," Ste blurted. "I'm so fucking sorry. I'm sorry. You can stab me back if you want to. Beat the shit out of me. Anything."
As he babbled, Adam flashed him one of his pitying smiles. Adam didn't smile often, but when he did, his lips would purse, and his eyebrows would knit together. It was an expression he'd always found cute, not that he'd ever dare say as much.
"What can I do?" he asked. "I'll do anything."
Adam didn't answer. Instead, he asked, "Why'd you do it?"
This is what Ste had been most frightened of. Admitting he was more afraid of Jamie than he was of Adam. That wasn't going to down well. To say that it was all Jamie's idea sounded like a cop-out too, even if it was the truth.
He swallowed, grimacing to himself as he remembered that horrible moment Jamie had clocked Adam charging over like a bull. In his memory, Adams's nostrils were flared and exuding stream, his head lowered in a minotaur-like pose as he came at them. Jamie, being Jamie, had shat his pants and thrust the weapon into Ste's hands. He had never planned on using it, but Jamie had pushed Adam backwards into him.
He couldn't say as much. Jamie would go to prison. It wasn't something he'd forgive... if he survived to forgive him at all.
Telling the police he'd smashed the bottle and only planned to use it in defence because he was scared of Adam seemed like the best plan. It was Jamie's plan, but Jamie was the smart one.
"I just... I wanted him to like me back," Ste explained, sticking to the only other explanation he had to offer. "I... I loved him."
Adam made a scoffing sound and nodded. "Loved. Sure."
Looking at the floor, Ste knew what he was saying, and it was true. He still loved Jamie. He couldn't get his face out of his mind. The snide glare and cold glint in his eyes as he'd told the court everything was Ste's idea. As he'd walked past, his Italian loafers clicking on the hard tiles, and looked at Ste like he was something he'd stepped in.
Even so, after everything... he still adored the evil little prick.
"What did you get?" Adam asked him. "I'm assuming you didn't get time in juvie?"
"Two hundred hours community service, two years suspended sentence and a fine. Mum is busting my ass about that fine," he told Adam. In terms of punishment, it didn't sound like enough.
"I know," he said, taking in Adam's expression. "I'll take any punishment you want to give me. Just please—"
"Please, what?" Adam asked, cocking his head. "Forgive you? Be your mate again?"
"I—" The question stumped him. What did he want? It was a good question. Could he really expect Adam to take him back after everything he'd done?
"I'll forgive you if you forgive me," Adam said.
"Huh?" Ste asked, shaking his head. "What? Forgive you for what?"
"Come here and sit on the bed," Adam said, sitting up. He watched the way Adam moved, so pained and slow.
"I'm good," Adam assured him once he'd shifted himself into a seated position, bare feet hanging from the bed. "You barely scratched me. It just got infected and I happened to be allergic to the antibiotics. I'd have been sent straight home otherwise."
The flimsy hospital bed dipped as Ste took a seat beside him, sighing with relief. He felt bad for Adam, sure, but at least the injury he'd inflicted wasn't entirely to blame.
"I let him torture you," Adam said. "I watched him do it and I didn't stop it because, in all honesty, it amused me and… I wanted Jamie’s sister to like me."
Adam shook his head and looked down, as if ashamed of wanting the affections of a girl. “When she asked me asked me to stop bullying her brother, I could have done just that, but I let him take revenge on you.”
He looked down at his hands as Adam spoke, picking at his nails. It was true that Adam was partly to blame, but if you were going to pick apart the situation further, it was Ste who had chosen Jamie as a victim in the first place.
"I had all the power and I used it to hurt you." Adam shrugged. "You even came begging to me and I just didn't listen."
When he felt Adam's hand grasp his clammy palm, Ste jumped and sucked in his breath.
"I'm partly to blame, so you don't have to worry about me getting revenge," Adam said, beginning to squeeze his hand. "And trust me, even in this state I could still destroy you."
As if to demonstrate, Adam squished his hand so tightly his knuckles ground painfully against each other.
A gasp of pain escaped Ste's lips as he nodded. He felt tears well up behind his eyes, not from the pain, but what Adam was telling him with it. They were never going to be mates again. Years of friendship, of hanging out playing games in his room and football in the park. Of drinking and getting into trouble together. Sitting in isolation after getting thrown out of classes, laughing at the teachers. All those times were just a memory now.
"Please, Adam," he tried. "Please, please forgive me. I'll do whatever you want. I'll do anything. Just... please, please forgive me."
"I'm begging you, Adam," he gasped, trying his best to ignore the pain in his hand as Adam continued to crush. "I BEG you, please forgive me."
Adam released his hand suddenly. Ste pulled it into his chest, rubbing his knuckles with the non-crushed hand.
"Anything, huh?" Adam asked with a sneer. He had that look in his eyes. One that said he was planning something. "We'll see."
Ste nodded and jumped down from the bed. He didn't want to hang about too long, especially considering he was supposed to be picking up trash from the roadside about now.
He said goodbye and sauntered out, following the arrows on the floor to the exit. As he stepped through the automatic doors back into the humid summer afternoon, he felt his phone chime in his back pocket.
Smiling, he pulled it out, thinking it would be Joseph. He and Joseph had been sending messages back and forth in a frantic game of 'text tennis' for the past few nights. The tone had become flirty and Joseph had even hinted at a date.
But this time it wasn't Joseph.
His heart skipped a beat as he recognised Jamie's number.
"Well," the text read. "I'm still waiting for an apology."
Ste read and re-read the message a few times before deciding the best thing was to simply delete it.
"You'll be waiting a long time," he muttered to himself.
Alice pulled her clothes from the drawer Joseph had assigned for her. Of the ten drawers he had in the wardrobe and chest set, he'd only managed to clear one... and sparingly.'There isn't enough room for me here,'she sighed, dropping to her knees and blowing the hair from her face. The apartment was stylish and sleekly decorated. It was perfect... for Joseph.Alice felt as though she was constantly in his way. Under his feet and taking up space that should belong to him. Forever using the last of his milk and forgetting to fetch more. He said he didn't mind, but Alice knew he was saying it to be kind. He was her best friend, and he would never make her feel unwelcome, as much of a burden as she was.Joseph’s apartment was beautiful, but it didn't feel like home.'I miss my family,'she realised. Somehow, despite all his flaws, she still missed
2017 - 5 years ago.Jamie slung his bag over his shoulder and slipped out of the door before his sister left for school. Instead of heading toward that hellhole, he turned left and skipped over the fence at the end of the Avenue. The bench old Mr Peterson had placed beside his allotment made the perfect place to hide, camouflaged behind a veil of runner beans, canes, and overgrown tomato plants. He would wait for his sister to leave then take a slow walk, timing his arrival perfectly so he wouldn't have to linger in the courtyard before lesson one. Adam and the others were getting wise to his tricks, so he had to leave it later and later every day. Luckily, none of the teachers had noticed. They never paid attention to Jamie. Nobody did anymore. He wore the blandest clothing possible. Scuffed, off-brand shoes and plain clothes. Anything to make him invisible.Instead of going to the front gate,
Alice's head lowered further and further as she listened to Jamie's tale. By the time he finished speaking, every muscle in her body had slumped so dramatically she was almost one with the sofa."And that was just one particularly horrible day," Jamie said. "Every day was like that. School was a warzone. It was hell. I spent most nights staring at a pile of pills, trying to pluck up the courage to kill myself."The thought of Adam stomping on her little brother because he had the nerve to piss himself in fear made her stomach turn. How could he be that cruel? How could anyone be that cruel? To drive another kid almost to suicide and for what? To entertain himself? To make himself feel powerful?'He was just as cruel to you,'she realised. Images of the night he tried to tie her up like a dog and pull her out into the street flashed through her mind. Then there was the time he almost let his friends rape her
Alice sat on the bus, hands firmly grasping her bag. She was travelling into the city and not to the 'so-called' good side. After her job at the gallery fell though, due to it having to close, the Jobcentre helped her find alternative employment. It was only part-time, but as an art and design technician at Rowshill school, she would at least gain experience. The area was rough. As Alice glanced about at the signs of urban decay—closed storefronts covered in graffiti and open bins spewing trash—she told herself to quit being a snob. People here were poorer than in her town, but they were still just people.'You're going to be fine,'she assured herself. As she wandered through the gates, a group of male students gaped at her. One of them said something she didn't quite catch, so she continued walking to the office, head held high.By the time
After the final bell, Mr Lowe took Alice aside and told her she'd done a great job. She smiled and thanked him, feeling silly since all she'd done was clean up and count stuff. Any idiot could excel at the tasks she'd completed today. Still—it was nice that her boss was taking the time to give her good feedback and make her feel valued.'I'm going to love working here,'she thought."I think you're going to fit in well," he said, echoing her thoughts with a reassuring smile before telling her to go and catch the bus. It stopped just over the road half past every hour, and she'd manage to get the 3:30 bus if she hurried."Thank you, see you tomorrow," Alice said before practically jogging down the hallways. Most of the students had cleared out the second the bell sounded, leaving the old building eerily quiet. Her footsteps echoed as she hurried to the main reception to sign out."
Alice tried to swallow away the lump in her throat, but it refused to budge. It sat heavy, an unwelcome guest in her windpipe that only made it harder to breathe. She glanced up, trying not to make eye contact with any of them while feeling their eyes all over her. With a sweaty hand, she smoothed down her skirt, regretting the choice to shift her legs and show off the curves of her thighs to the guy at her side.None of the guys seemed surprised when the gang surrounded them.Riley stood and fist-bumped a couple of the lads."A'ight?" he drawled before sitting again."We spotted them dudes who jumped Jay, down by the chippy," one of the lads said. He sniffed and wiped his nose before shifting on the spot, waiting to see what Riley would say."Felix?" Riley asked."I'll deal with it," Felix confirmed. As he stood from the benc
Riley dragged her for three blocks, never letting go of her wrist. The entire time her mind was dreaming up scenarios, imagining what he might do to her. What he might make her do.It wasn't so long ago she was in this exact situation, dreading what Adam would make her do next.'And you liked it,'her mind piped up.'You liked being at his mercy.'She had because deep down, she knew he wouldn't do anything to hurt her too badly. He wouldn't ruin her. It had felt like a game—a strangely erotic and sometimes scary game—but a game nonetheless. This felt different. This boy had an aura of danger and death. One false move and someone could get seriously hurt. Either Mike, Adam or even one of his own minions—the triplets. They were a dopey pair, but she wouldn't want them to get hurt. When he finally stopped moving, they w
Jamie smiled to himself as he read the text from Ste. It had taken longer than he'd anticipated getting the reply, and it wasn't exactly an apology, but it was something. It proved he was still under his spell—a victim trapped inside his web.“Keep waiting,” it read. But the words were not important. The thing was, Ste had felt the need to reply. To keep the dialogue open. He wanted to talk and stay in contact, and it was only a matter of time before he was back under Jamie's thumb.'Back where he belongs,'Jamie thought.'Crawling at my feet like a dog.'The thought excited him. He thought about Ste a lot, especially when he was alone. He liked to picture his face covered in tears and snot and twisted in pain as he made himself cum. The sad fact was, it wasn't the same as having the boy’s lips wrapped around his cock, choking on it as he forced it down his thr
Bonus Chapter Alice shuffled, shifting her feet beneath her on the soft sofa cushions. It was hard to move with the weight of the now fully grown Ivy planted across her lap. Adam, seeing her struggle, laughed but did not offer any help. Knowing him inside and out, she wouldn't expect or want any different. That was Adam. Her Adam. Ste and Jamie sat opposite. Both had fussed the dog for a while before settling in front of the television, entangled in each other, and arguing about the contestants of the show 'Glow Up.' "She's a total stuck up bitch, but I like her," Jamie was saying. "She won't last." Ste shook his head. Zoe was also engaged in the television, but Gary was focused purely on his phone. "Look!" Gary raised his phone to show the others a picture. 'A baby.'Alice frowned, puzzl
Alice sat opposite Jamie as he preened himself in front of a mirror. He moved about the same piece of hair multiple times before deciding it looked better in the first place."Got a date?" she asked.Jamie glanced up from his mirror for a second and nodded. "I didn't think I'd ever get feelings for Ste, but since he rescued me... it's just... different."Alice nodded. She had similar feelings toward Adam. The annoying thing was, he wasn't making any sort of moves on her. If she wanted him, she was going to make it blatantly obvious before he would pick up the hint."I'm glad things are going well for you two," she said, smiling at her brother. It was nice to see him in a happy and healthy relationship.Putting down his mirror, Jamie tutted, sighed, and gave her the saddest smile. "Alice, you're just too nice. I was awful to you, and you're still rooting for me."
"Are you sure you're okay to come back to work?" Hannah asked for the umpteenth time. She'd been fussing over her all morning, making her drinks and going out of her way to make as little work as possible."Honestly," Alice reassured her. "I'm completely fine."Standing on her tiptoes, Alice glanced over the teacher's shoulders at the classroom. The seat where Felix had always sat was now empty. There was something ominous about the way it was angled and edged away from the table—almost as if it were waiting for his return."I always knew he was a wrong'un." Hannah shook her head. "I still can't believe you aren't pressing charges, though. He's going to get away with it."Her mother had said the same thing repeatedly, the thing they didn't understand though, was the trouble she'd be causing for Riley, Adam, Mike, and all the other lads if the prosecution started asking too many questions.
The pain in Alice's stomach would intensify every so often before tapering off and becoming ignorable for a time. It emitted a grumbling sound, making her blush and apologise.Damien laughed. "I just watched you pee in a bucket. There's no need to worry about a few bodily noises.""You said you weren't looking." Alice narrowed her eyes, giving him an evil stare.Damien laughed and shrugged. "These might be my last hours. I should make the most of them, don't you think?""Okaaay." Alice let out a strained chuckle, unsure what to say to that. If looking at her bum made his last day even a tiny fraction better, she would allow it, as weird and perverted as it seemed to her. "Knock yourself out."Without warning, he took her hand and spun her into his side. Licking his lips, he stared down at her. "Since we have nothing else to do..."Alice pulled away, feeling h
Jamie listened to the sounds of their footsteps crunching down the driveway, waiting until they were well out of earshot before moving toward Felix.First, he wandered off into the kitchen and poured some warm water into a bowl. Then he went upstairs to get the first aid kit from under his mother's bed. Their kit was pretty extensive and well-stocked—one of the perks of having a nurse for a mother.Returning to Felix, he paused halfway down the stairs to still his heart. Seeing the way the smaller boy had defeated Adam so completely and utterly was...Jamie smiled to himself. It was... euphoric. The more he learned and remembered about his adversary, the more in awe he became. This guy was a genius who couldn't feel pain. He seemed to feel nothing at all, which made him godlike in Jamie's eyes. After gathering his senses
"I don't care what you do to me. I'll never tell you." Felix spat blood into Adam's face and grinned, showing a row of broken and red-smeared teeth. "I'm not like you, Adam."'He's right,'Adam surmised.'I was begging for mercy at this point, and he's not even broken a sweat.'Becoming frustrated, Adam grabbed the hammer. He raised it in a tight fist, gearing it toward Felix's skull before turning and bashing the molars he'd painstakingly extracted.'Good luck reattaching these now.'He smirked to himself, feeling his recently removed teeth with his tongue. They felt different to before, and he couldn't stop pushing his tongue into the gap."How is this not hurting him?" he muttered to Jamie. "I remember it well. It was torture.""One sec," Jamie uttered. His fingers tapped away at his laptop keyboard as his eyes darted about the s
When Alice woke up, her arms were numb from having to sleep in an unfamiliar position. She had no idea if it was morning or how much time had passed because of the darkness. It was so thick she could barely see her hand in front of her face.Shivering, she rubbed her arms before feeling about her surroundings in the hope he'd been kind enough to leave a blanket. He hadn't.'No big surprise there,'Alice thought. She was hungry, thirsty, and cold, but most of all, she was afraid. Afraid of slowly dying in this cold and dark tomb. Her heart jumped when she heard a clang in the distance. Could it be Felix returning? And would he feed her or kill her? After a moment she heard footsteps approaching but as she strained her ears, the sound dissipated.'Did I imagine it?'"Felix? Felix
When Alice awoke, the first thing she remembered was Riley's words:'This is a great way to get over my ex.'It felt like someone was kicking her in the stomach. Then she remembered Felix and the taser and she really felt sick. She rolled over and tried to move but couldn't. Chains rattled as she struggled, but it was too dark to see her surroundings.Using the sounds and her sense of touch, she eventually figured out her wrists were bound by a metal chain that was wrapped around a metal pole several times. She patted the soft and springy floor beneath her and guessed she'd been placed on a mattress or bedding of some description. it was giving off that sour water smell, as though it had been sitting in the damp for some time. She filled her lungs, preparing to shout, and noticed how cold and damp the air felt in her mouth.'Am I underground?'sh
Alice stared into Riley's eyes, unsure what to do.Her body was telling her to rip off her clothes and throw herself at him, but was it what either of them truly wanted? Or were these merely the lust fuelled urges of two people who'd survived a trauma together? She felt his fingers pulled around the bottom of her T-shirt and lifted her arms to let him slip the clothes from her body. Once her shirt was a messy pile at her feet, he reached behind and pinged her bra. Her breasts shifted and bounced out of the cups as they fell forward. Instinctively she raised a hand to cover them as the bra dropped to the floor.Riley chuckled lightly as he pushed her grip away, replacing them with his larger hands. Her nipples became instantly hard as he pinched them between his thumbs and index fingers. She moaned gently as he squeezed and took a step forward, pressing her back up against the wall.&
