Blake

The school day was over, but my mind wasn’t. I stood outside, waiting for my driver to pull up, the cool afternoon breeze doing nothing to calm the thoughts racing through my head. The parking lot was filled with students laughing, chatting, making plans for the weekend—but I barely noticed any of it. I was thinking about her.

Amelia.

No girl had ever looked me in the eye the way she did today. No hesitation. No fear. Just pure, unshaken defiance. I was handsome, rich and the captain of the school's football team, every girl in Maverick high wanted him. What was her problem?

I clenched my jaw, annoyed that she was still on my mind. I should’ve been thinking about the game this weekend, or what party was happening Friday night. Not some new girl who had no clue what she was getting into. And yet, there she was.

“Blake,” a voice cooed beside me.

I barely turned my head before Catherine slid her arm through mine, pressing against me like she belonged there. She was dressed in her u

  • Our Love Story    Chapter Eight

Amelia Who the hell do they think they are? I slammed my bedroom door shut, tossing my bag onto the floor with more force than necessary. Spoiled brats. That’s what they were. Every single one of them at Maverick High. Entitled, arrogant, and used to getting their way. Blake Andrews was the worst of them all. I huffed, kicking off my shoes before flopping onto my bed. My body ached from the long, exhausting day, but my mind wouldn’t stop racing. I was tired. Really tired. This was exactly why I hated moving. New schools, new faces, new enemies. I had barely been here a day, and I had already made one in Blake. Not that I cared. He wasn’t the first bully I’d encountered, and he probably wouldn’t be the last. But something about him was... different, the way he had looked at me in the hallway, the way he had gripped my wrist like he wasn’t used to people walking away from him—it was like I had messed with the natural order of things. Like I had thrown off his balance.

  • Our Love Story    Chapter Nine

BlakeBlake was starving and so after math class, he headed to the school's cafeteria with Charlie to grab lunch, and as usual, the place was packed with students. The hum of chatter and the clatter of trays filled the air as people gathered at their usual tables.Blake and Charlie had taken their usual seats, sitting near the window where they could see almost everything happening in the cafeteria. It was their spot—one that no one dared to take. Catherine had tried sitting next to Blake, but he had ignored her, focusing instead on his tray of food. She hated when he did that, but he didn’t care. His mind was elsewhere.Charlie took a huge bite of his sandwich before raising an eyebrow at Blake. “Okay, spill. You’ve been distracted all morning.”Blake didn’t look up from his food. “I’m not distracted.”Charlie snorted. “Yeah, right. Let me guess—it’s about Amelia.”Blake’s jaw clenched. He hated how Charlie could read him so easily.“What about her?” Blake asked, playing it cool.Cha

  • Our Love Story    Chapter Ten

AmeliaWhy?Why did it have to be them? Of all the people we have in our class?I slumped in my seat, arms crossed, glaring at my desk as if it had personally wronged me.Out of all the students in this class, why did I have to be stuck with Blake, Catherine, and their little group? It was bad enough that I had to deal with Blake’s overinflated ego, but Catherine too? I could already tell she’d contribute absolutely nothing except annoying remarks and excessive hair flips.I sighed, trying to remind myself that this was just a school project. I didn’t have to like my group members—I just had to survive working with them for a month. The moment Mr. Dawson left the classroom, students began huddling together with their assigned groups. Some were already throwing around ideas, while others groaned about having to do any work at all. Then, of course, there was my group.Blake had immediately declared himself the leader—because of course he had—and stalked off to the teacher’s desk to get

Blake.Blake wasn’t sure what was more ridiculous—the fact that he had been studying all morning or the fact that he actually cared about impressing Amelia. Not that he’d ever admit it cause if Charlie found out, he’d never let it go.Blake leaned back in his chair, flipping another page in the physics textbook he had borrowed from the school library. His room was quiet, save for the occasional scratch of his pen against paper. The notes he had scribbled looked nothing like his usual ones—this time, he was actually paying attention to what he wrote instead of just doodling in the margins. It was absurd. He was Blake Andrews and he had never needed to study before. Teachers either cut him slack because of his status, or he managed to scrape by without much effort. But after that physics class the other day—after Amelia had completely shut down his rooftop experiment idea—something in him had shifted. She had made him feel stupid. No one had ever done that before and instead of being pi

AmeliaAmelia did not want to be here. If she had a choice, she’d be anywhere but Blake Andrews's house right now.Unfortunately, not participating in the project wasn’t an option. It would tank her grade, and that was the last thing she wanted. She had always been a straight-A student, and she had every intention of keeping it that way, even if it meant spending hours in the same space as Blake, Catherine, and whatever unnecessary drama they decided to bring.Blake was a necessary evil at this point. She didn’t have to like him—she just had to tolerate him long enough to get through this project. She had received a message earlier in the group chat Blake had created, containing his house address along with a smug comment about people not being late. Amelia had rolled her eyes at that, but she had plugged the address into Google Maps anyway. The drive wasn’t too long, and when she arrived, she couldn’t help but be impressed.Blake’s house was a mansion. The driveway stretched long and

BlakeBlake had always known that his mother spoke fondly of her high school years. It was one of the things she never got tired of talking about—her best friend, Ruby Bridges.Growing up, he'd heard the name more times than he could count. Whenever his mother talked about friendship, loyalty, or memories of high school, it was always Ruby this, Ruby that.It used to annoy him. He'd never cared much for his mother's nostalgic ramblings, and he certainly never thought he'd meet the daughter of the famous Ruby Bridges. Yet, here Amelia was.It was interesting. His mother had adored Ruby. He could still remember the way her eyes lit up whenever she spoke about their high school days. And now, standing here, realizing that Amelia was her daughter, things made a little more sense.Amelia had that same sharp wit his mother always described in Ruby. The same stubbornness. The same unshakable confidence. No wonder she got under his skin. Still, the realization didn't change the fact that she

AmeliaAs soon as Amelia walked through the front door, the familiar scent of home welcomed her—lavender and vanilla, her mother's favorite fragrance. She dropped her bag on the couch and sighed, rubbing her temples. It had been a long day.Between the awkward group project meeting, Blake’s irritating presence, and the shocking revelation that his mother was her mother’s long-lost best friend, Amelia had a lot on her mind. She barely had time to process it all before her mother appeared from the kitchen, a warm smile spreading across her face. There you are,” She said, opening her arms. “How was your day, sweetheart?”Amelia allowed herself to be enveloped in her mother’s embrace, the warmth easing some of the tension in her shoulders.“Exhausting,” she admitted, pulling away. Her mother chuckled. “First days always are.”Amelia hesitated. Blake.Blake didn’t like being late. Not because he cared about rules—Maverick High’s staff wouldn’t dare punish him considering how much money his father pumped into the school every year—but because he preferred to arrive on his own time, under his own terms.Today, however, he had decided to drive himself to school instead of letting one of the drivers take him. His father had just added another luxury car to their collection, sleek and powerful, and Blake needed to show it off.As he pulled into the school’s driveway, students turned to watch, their eyes filled with admiration, jealousy, or curiosity. AmeliaAmelia sat in the passenger seat, her fingers drumming against her lap as her mother drove down the long, winding road leading to Blake’s house. The second day of their project work had arrived, and as promised, her mother insisted on driving her. Amelia hadn’t thought much of it at first, but now, as they neared their destination, she could feel her mother’s excitement radiating off her.“You know,” her mother said, her voice laced with nostalgia, “I still can’t believe Evelyn's son is in your group. What are the odds?”Amelia shrugged, her gaze fixed on the trees lining the road. “Maverick High isn’t that big. It was bound to happen.”Her mother chuckled. “Still, it’s a pleasant surprise. Evelyn and I were inseparable back in high school. We did everything together.”Amelia turned to look at her mother. “Then why did you two lose touch?”A shadow passed over her mother’s face. “Life happened. College, work, marriage... We both got busy. But I never stopped thinking about her.

Blake Blake was fuming.Catherine was an idiot. An insufferable, possessive, delusional idiot. He had told her time and time again to stop meddling in his business, but she never listened. Her jealousy was out of control, and today, she had made a complete fool of herself. Worse, she had dragged him into the mess.He clenched his fists as he stormed toward Principal Jerkins’ office. The second the final bell rang, his name had been called over the intercom, summoning him immediately. He knew exactly why. Amelia had gone to make a report at the principal's office and the principal had summoned him to warn him. The moment he stepped into the office, Principal Jerkins looked up from his desk with a tired expression. "Blake, have a seat."Blake crossed his arms. "I’ll stand."Jerkins sighed. "Fine. I’ll make this quick. You need to tone down your behavior."Blake scoffed, leaning against the chair in front of the principal’s desk. "And what behavior is that exactly?"Jerkins gave him a

AmeliaAmelia stormed through the hallway, her steps quick and purposeful. Enough was enough. She had tolerated Blake and his entitled nonsense for too long. Catherine and her minions had pushed her patience to the limit, and she wasn’t about to let them get away with it this time. If the school had any sense of justice, something had to be done. She reached the principal’s office and knocked firmly on the wooden door. When there was no response, she tried again. Still nothing.A sigh came from behind the front desk. Amelia turned to see the school secretary, a middle-aged woman with rectangular glasses perched on the bridge of her nose. She looked up from her computer screen, arching a brow."Principal Jerkins isn’t in at the moment," the woman said, adjusting her glasses. "You’ll have to wait if you want to see him."Amelia exhaled sharply. Of course. Just her luck. "Do you know how long he’ll be?"The secretary shrugged. "Shouldn’t be too long. He had a meeting with some board memb
