"There is no 'what if'. Only one woman in this world can conceive my child," retorted Cedrick curtly, his gaze darker than ink.

The sunlight was refracted by the windowpanes and onto his body as though casting a faint halo on him.

She could not see through him. She could not understand.

Catelyn's fists that rested on her knees retracted as she tugged lightly at her pant legs.

Was Cedrick talking about Maia?

His engagement with Maia was not supposed to be called off. Was she truly a homewrecker?

She was supposed to get some groceries along the way home, but she was so exhausted that all she wanted was to lie on the bed.
