Mara's POV

I stood there, stunned and confused. The man’s words replayed in my mind, but they made no sense. A princess? I wasn’t a princess. My life had been anything but royal. I shook my head, trying to make sense of it all.

“I’m not a princess,” I said, my voice trembling. “There must be a mistake.”

“No mistake,” he insisted. “I know the royal mark anywhere. I would have taken you back with me to get it checked and find out which clan you’re from, but it’s too risky since the rogues are everywhere”

His words were a heavy weight on my chest. Me, a princess? It felt impossible.

“Mara you're a princess” Ethan said trying to convince me then suddenly pulled me into a tight embrace. “I knew you were special,” he said, his voice full of emotion. “I always knew it.”
