Chapter 5

The blackness turned to white and then to green. Grass erupted from nothingness like what you would see in the movie. An extremely large fountain materialized. It was a small pool with a dove standing in the middle, with water spraying into the air. The sky was light blue with small white clouds sprinkled through it. A warm, gentle breeze grabbed the base of my dress and exposed my legs.

Walking to the fountain and sitting down on the edge, I just stared at the water. It wasn’t until I realized what I was seeing that made me gasp and jump up. Holy crap! Getting on my knees on the grass, I leaned over the edge and got as close to the water as I possibly could.

I saw people walking down the street, cars driving and animals playing. It was like I was watching a movie through water. No way was this possible! Taking my hand, I went to dip it into the water.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” A soft voice startled me. Spinning around, I was greeted by the most beautiful women I have ever seen. They looked just like me but yet, so different. Pale skin, white hair and a slim figure. They were both wearing what looked like sheets for a dress.

“Y-you look like me…” I said breathlessly.

“Yes, we created you. We are your mothers, in a way.” One of them said.

“B-but…” I had so many questions but yet nothing would come out. I just stared at them in awe as my brain processed what I was actually seeing.

“Let us introduce ourselves. I am Althea, also known as Mother Nature. This is Sabrina, Moon Goddess, as others know her. We created you from part of each of us. We are your mothers.”

“Why?” is all I could get out. They didn’t make a move to get closer to me and I didn’t dare move a muscle. Mostly in fear that this dream would vanish and I wouldn’t get the answers that I want.

“Our brother, Adron, runs…created the underworld. He has fully gone under and lives there now. It is a completely different plane and unfortunately, we don’t have access to it. Adron has created all the evil creatures that you have learned about, dragons and what not, but he has also created a creature called vamolves. When a vampire or wolf is on the brink of death, he will show up and put a poison in their body. This poison makes them have the abilities of both wolf and vampire.” Althea said looking sad.

“We created vampires and witches with wolves so they could work together to take down these creatures and Adron himself. We are not powerful enough to do it, otherwise we would have. That is why we created you. You are meant to bring together vampires, witches and wolves as one, like we intended to take down Adron and these creatures before it is too late.” Sabrina looked pained as she pleaded her case.

I didn’t know what to feel or what to say. Mostly, I felt numb. I am supposed to be the savior of the world, but I am not even my own person? They created me for this mission. They did not make me out of love or desire to have a child, but a necessity, a means to an end.

“Dear child, please say something?” Althea asked. They both got down on their knees and waited for me to speak.

I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. I knew I was smart as I was always at the top of my advanced classes, and I’ve always had a knack for finding a peaceful solution, but never did I dream I would be in this position. “I…I, um.” I didn’t know what to say.

“I know this is a lot to process, so we will let you go back and we will be in touch. Your necklace is a call button, too. I will activate it so when you need or want to talk to us, just press the center of it and we will get the signal. Just know that you are very much loved and cherished. You do have powers that are going to be showing themselves to you. You can control the elements; wind, fire, water, air, earth, and spirit. They have always been a part of you and we already know how connected you are to the earth. Be safe, my child, until we meet again.” Sabrina waved her hand and a bright light shone from my necklace. It blinded me enough that I put my hand over my face.

“Ivory!” Slap! Blinking my eyes a few times, I focused on what was going on around me. Jet was growling at my dad, who I assumed just slapped me.

“You did NOT need to do that!” Jet’s voice was angry. I could feel like protectiveness flood his veins that mixed with angry and worry. Jet was holding me close to him, but I could still focus on my surroundings.

“I’m fine…” I said weakly. Jet finally realized I was awake and helped me sit up. I was still in my dad’s office, in my sexy dress, with four pairs of eyes staring at me.

“Honey, are you okay? You just fainted!” Mom screeched.

“I’m fine.” I almost told them about the meeting with Althea and Sabrina, but something kept me from doing so. I just had a feeling that I needed to keep that to myself for now.

“You sure?” Jet was rubbing my back gentle that caused goosebumps to erupt all over my skin. This meeting was too much right now and I just wanted to go to bed.

“Yes, I would like to leave now.” I said firmly, looking at my dad.

He huffed a little, but eventually nodded. “I understand you are leaving tomorrow, Alpha Jet. Please allow us to have breakfast with our daughter before so we can help her pack. Obviously, you both are welcome to join us.” Dad got back to being respectful Alpha.

“That would be greatly appreciated.” Jet said, also back to being an Alpha. Whole thing made me roll my eyes at them all. Wade saw it and smirked at me. I returned it with my own glare.

“Goodnight.” I said, standing up. Everyone stood up after me and my mother came over to give me a hug.

“We have some work to do here, so I will let you show them to their rooms. Love you sweety.” Mom had tears in her eyes again.

“Okay.” Since I helped make the room chart, I knew exactly where they were. They have already been in their rooms, so it was more of making sure they didn’t get lost. This was like a castle.

Leaving the office, we walked in silence. Jet and Wade were both walking a step behind me, neither saying a word. I could feel a pair of eyes on my ass as we walked down the halls and up the stairs. I think I am too caught up in my own thoughts to focus on what this night was supposed to be about.

Walking up to a door, I was about to open it for Wade but a sound of something else caught my attention. Stopping in my tracks, I knew the boys heard it too. It was the sound of kissing. There was a linen closet to my right. Taking two steps, twisting the door handle and opening it to reveal two younger teenagers making it.

“Angie! Ben!” I yelled. They both jumped out of the closet and bared their necks at me. Neither said a word. “I suggest you both get to your bedrooms now!” Nodding their heads, they went off down the wall in a sprint. Now I was just angry. Why does no one respect the fact that you have a mate out there!

Stomping over to the bedroom door, I used more force than needed when opening it, making it slam against the wall. Bouncing back a little, I held it open for Wade. “Goodnight.” I said dismissively.

He raised an eyebrow at me before looking between me and Jet. After deciding not to say anything, he smirked at me and walked in. “Goodnight, Luna.” he said before gently closing the door behind him.

Blowing out a breath of air, I walked over to Jet’s room that was just a across the hallway. I didn’t even hesitate as I opened the door and walked in straight to the couch and sat down with my arms over my chest. I was just pissed.

Jet came in slowly before shutting the door. I had crossed my legs so my one leg was completely exposed but my tapping of my foot caught his attention more. Taking his tie off and jacket, he pulled out his shirt and unbuttoned it before sitting down on the other side of the couch. He said nothing, just waited.

“I didn’t faint.” I said finally.

“I know. I could feel your emotions.”

“I met with Althea and Sabrina. They told me…most things.”

“Do you want to discuss this now?” He asked. That completely caught me off guard. Almost snapping my own neck as I quickly turned to stare at him.

“Do what?” I was so confused.

“We don’t have to discuss this now, if you don’t want to. We could just simply, go to bed.” Jet offered.

I got suddenly very nervous and looking at the bed made my stomach twist. Did I just want to go to bed?

“We are not completing the bond tonight.” Jet said firmly.

For a second time, I think I heard my neck crack more than ever before. “What?” Never have I ever been so confused.

“Ivory, you just had a major bomb dropped on you. You need time to process what is happening, and I understand that. You clearly are having trouble with it, and I will not force you to mate with me tonight. If you want to talk, we can talk. If you want to go to bed, we can go to bed.”

Was I ready to talk…maybe not yet. “You don’t need to know what they said to know if you still want me?” I think that is my biggest fear right now. Him not wanting me.

Jet scooted next to me and pulled my face to his. His hand was on the base of my neck as he forced me to look at him in the eyes. “Nothing you can say will make me not want you. You are mine and will always be mine. You are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. If I need to wait a few more nights before I can finally taste you, I will.” The way he said it caused my panties to instantly get wet. I knew he could smell my arousal as his eyes turned pitch black. He closed his eyes, and I watched as his jaw tightened, but he controlled himself. “Let me get you a shirt to sleep in.” He got up so quickly that I didn’t even see it. Jet went to his suitcase and pulled out a black Nirvana t-shirt and handed it to me.

“Thank you.” I said, and made my way to the bathroom. I make sure they stocked all guest bathrooms with the basic items, so I was able to take my hair out and brush it. The braids left it in an awkward wave, so I just pulled it into a said braid that I could sleep in. Taking a spare toothbrush, and using the restroom, there was nothing else to stop me from staying here longer.

Gathering as much courage as I could, I went back to the bedroom. Jet had already turned down the bed and was flipping through the T.V. for a channel to watch. Seeing that I was out, he eyed me up and down before clearing his throat. “Pick whatever you like. I will be right back.” Grabbing his own bathroom stuff, he went into the bathroom and shut the door.

Well, okay then. I’m not sure if I am hurt or happy that he isn’t jumping my bones, but I’m not uncomfortable, so there’s that, I guess. Getting under the covers and pulling the black silk sheets up under my arm, I found this discovery channel and tried to focus on shark week. Usually, I love this week, but right now I found it hard to focus.

About five minutes later, Jet came back out wearing nothing but gym shorts. Oh, fuck, he was sexy. Eight pack abs with no chest hair, not an ounce of fat on this man but all muscle. His beard stubble made his chiseled jaw look more defined. Damn, it made my brain go fuzzy, and I forgot why I was mad in the first place. To make matters worse, he was feeling confident and relaxed, where I was a basket case.

The T.V. was on my side of the bed so he curled up behind me and draped an arm over my stomach before resting his head on his arm so he could see the T.V. too. “Discovery channel, huh?”

I instantly felt defensive. “I dunno, just the first thing that I found. Feel free to change the channel. I rarely watch as much T.V. as it is.” “Oh? Why’s that?” Jet asked, he seemed seriously interested. “I’m usually outside or working.” I shrugged. I let myself relax into him. It felt natural and I fit perfectly into him. My pale skin glowed in the moonlight that was shining in from the open windows. It wasn’t a sexual tension but a comfortable atmosphere. A safe place. “You don’t get sunburned with your porcelain skin?” “Never. I guess it makes sense now why that is…” I trailed off, not sure what to say. I felt his concern go through me. “What are you concerned about?” I asked, without looking at him. “If you are okay.” He said quickly. I didn’t get any hint of a lie from him. Usually I can tell when someone is lying easily, and he wasn’t lying. “I will be. I… I just…” “Talk to me.” Jet said. He pushed the mute button and turned me so I was on my back. Adjusting the p

The next morning, I woke up to an empty bed. My eyes focused on the cold black silk sheet that was proof that he indeed was not beside me, but the dull ache between my legs and on my neck told me last night wasn’t a dream. That didn’t stop me from being pissed he wasn’t there. Throwing the covers off me, started stomping towards the door to go back to my room. It was only when my hand grasped the cold black metal door knob that I realized I was butt-ass naked. Shit! Looking around, I found his suitcase and the white button-up shirt he had worn last night. Thankfully, he is taller than me because the shirt came down to the top of my knees. Buttoning it up, I walked out of his room and went straight to mine. Never in my 18 years of life did I ever think I would do the walk of shame in my own fucking house at who the fuck knows what time it is. There wasn’t a single soul who met me, so it must still be early. The sun was peaking out over the trees and the birds had started chirruping.

“What’s wrong?” Jet asked. He was sitting across from me. His head was resting in his hand with his ankle back over his leg. He liked to sit like that I noticed. “Everything is so… impersonal here. No conversations, no one dared to speak, basically.” I said bluntly. “That is how I run things. I am fair, but no emotions. You can’t run a pack with your heart, you have to use your brain.” My jaw dropped at this. “Excuse me? You expect me, the daughter of the Moon Goddess and Mother Nature, to assist you in running our pack and NOT use my heart?” His heart did a flip when I said our pack. “Coming to terms with it, I see.” “You can’t expect me to sit quietly behind you and just look the part. I will not change who I am because you don’t like to use your heart.” “Rule number one, NEVER disagree with me in public. You can express your concerns in private. If you have ideas on things, you may bring them up to me in private and we can discuss things. I am not saying I will change ho

The plane landed on what looked like a private runway. No other planes were around, and the surrounding landscape was farming. Countless people were moving back and forth as they worked on their land or on the tractors. “We grow our own food and also distribute it. It is a large source of income for the pack. I, personally, have invested and own a few companies, but as a pack, we thrive off of those fields.” We walked to some golf carts looking things and got in. Jet was driving us as everyone else followed us. A winding road took us through some trees and up a narrow path. The forest was absolutely beautiful here. Life was everywhere I looked. The thick green forest floor with the blooming brush barely made the rabbits and squirrels visible. A deer started running beside us. It was a doe with two small fawns with spots still. They followed us for a good mile before they stopped at a stream for a drink. A large metal gate appeared before us. It looked like something out of the mo

“Oh, really?” I laughed as I pushed him off me and kept walking. Walking alongside of me, Jet still has lingering sexual feelings running through his veins. This will take getting used to. It’s not that I don’t mind him touching me every chance he gets, but I’ve had no one do that… well, I let no one do that. “Here was are, OUR room.” Jet made a deal about saying the word “our” like I was going to argue about sharing a room with him. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was the huge floor to ceiling windows. They were massive, as it overlooked the forest below. His room complimented that with warm neutral colors of green and browns. A fluffy olive green quilt sat on his bed with cream sheets. A wooden headboard framed the wall with lights above each end table. A T.V hung down on a system that looked like it went up into the ceiling if not used. A small kitchen sat on the right with a large livingroom area with a couch and a love seat. The vanity was off to the side and two doors on

“What’s that?” I asked as I walked over and grabbed my bags. “Jet is a huge romantic and softey. He just doesn’t like to show it. But he likes a bad girl too. The take charge and flaunt you authority kind.” Justina unzipped my bags and started putting things into piles. “We need to take you shopping!” “What’s wrong with my clothes?” I asked defensively, but I didn’t want to offend my new friend. “Very… conservative. You need something more sexy. Make Jet fall on his knees for you. “I don’t know… what if he gets mad my skin is showing?” “If you don’t show too much, he won’t care at all. There is a fine line and I am going to show you that. You are so beautiful on your own that you don’t need much but you will be my barbie!” Justina clapped her hands together as she started smiling. “Whatever you want.” I rolled my eyes as I walked my shirts to the closet. “Let’s hang them here.” Justina pulled out his shirts and stuck them on the other side of the walk-in closet. “You have th

My eyes left Jet as I made contact with Adron. His creatures were on all fours as they studied their prey. Every fiber of my being was telling me to not go to him, but I didn’t want Jet to get hurt! “Baby, come to me. We can defeat them. Don’t go to him. Come to me… please!” Jet mind-linked me. The vulnerability in his voice made my knees weak. “I don’t want you guys to get hurt because of me!” I replied. I was so scared that I doubt my feet would move. “Clock is ticking. You have one more minute to decide before I attack!” Adron promised. “Just come to me. If anything happens to you, I won’t forgive myself. Now, please!” Jet kept begging. Slowly, my foot raised up as I moved it back half a step before putting it down. That little movement wasn’t unnoticed by Adron. “The choice is yours. Now everything that is about to happen is all your fault, Ivory.” Adron said. Waving his arms, three more vamolves showed up and he disappeared. They put some distance between them as they look

I was in full hysterics as I finally broke down and fell to my knees. The heat from the fire kept my face warm as Jet just stared at me. “Just leave me alone.” I requested. “Ivory. You were given this task. You have to be strong enough to complete it.” Jet kneeled down beside me without touching me. “Don’t you think I know that? Don’t you think I realize the gravity of my situation? I hesitated because I could have easily given myself up to die to save the whole planet. But I didn’t because I knew it didn’t guarantee he would stop. I’m not stupid, and I don’t appreciate you treating me like a little girl.” I said firmly. “I make my woman in this pack just as strong as the men. I won’t have a female victim under my watch. I don’t know how to be… sensitive.” Jet confessed. “I don’t need sensitive. I need understanding. I need encouraging and supportive. I need you to put Carol in her place so I can do what I need to do without worrying you will go back to your ex.” “We are mate

“We are here to serve you.” Their voice was like ice water running down my veins. “Why can’t Jet see you?” “We could allow him to if you wish?” “Yes.” “Holy moth-” Jet took a step back and wrapped his arm around me. “He is very much your boss as I am.” I said, wanting them to listen to him too. “Understood.” It was weird talking to them. “What is your role? What do you do?” I asked, trying to understand. “We are your servants. When someone needs to pass through, you signal us and we take them there. We are also your protectors. If danger is near, we will tell you.” “That is how Adron was able to always be a step head of us.” I said to Jet in the mind-link. “One of many ways.” Jet replied. “Can you take me to the underworld?” “Sure, if you wish.” One of them said. “However, you may not get to come back.” Another one said. “Why?” Jet asked. You could almost feel them shift their eyes to him. “You are still human. Portal is a one way unless you are a god. Since you are

There appeared to be a clear understanding from Spencer and Jameson. Calvin needed to go. His attitude was not that of a gamma, but of a cocky little shit. One second they were all looking at each other and the next, Calvin realised what was happening. “Whoa! Guys! Come on!” Calvin tried to plead his case as both men jumped him. Jameson took high as Spencer took low. Calvin surprised me with how much of a fight he put up. He managed to knee Spencer in the ribs and land a single punch to Jameson before he was officially knocked out. Once he was removed, it was just Spencer and Jameson. I was on the edge of my eat, trying to see who was winning. Jet was feeling rather anxious himself, which didn’t help mine. These men had trained together. Jameson had trained Spencer, so it was coach verse student. Spencer tried a submission move that Jameson counteracted. Jameson would go to deliver a combination, and Spencer would avoid it expertly. “Come on, it wasn’t that bad!” Jet was on the other side of my locked bathroom door. Humiliation and embarrassment filled me as I stripped naked and turned the shower on. I had fallen asleep before Jet was back. So, I was trying to make it up to him this morning, but the sexy lingerie I was trying to put on was not baby bell proof. It stuck out like a busted can of biscuits and even ripped the material. The worst part, Jet had walked into the closet to see where I had went and found me in front of the mirror. I was about to pull the one piece down but my stomach ripped a hole, my ass was eating the underwear and there wasn’t enough fabric to cover my nipple. It looked absolutely horrifying. To top it off, I was out of breath from trying to get into it. Jet’s eyes widened as he tried to hide a smile. So, naturally, I am hiding in the bathroom. It was easy to rip it off as my stomach had already started it. Dying of embarrassment was a true statement that never hit me so hard before.

“That was an exhausting day.” My ass was sore from riding Colt all day. It normally wouldn’t be but with this extra weight on my stomach, my posture was off. “Watching the obstacle course twelve times isss… rough. I got my twelve miles in today.” Wade sat down in the chair. Jet was wearing only was wearing his shorts. With his bare chest, it was hard to focus. These pregnancy hormones are no joke. Plus, it has been forever since we had sex. “Focus, afterwards we can do whatever you want.” Jet teased me in my mind. “ANYWAY.” I said, a little too loud. Jet smirked, and Wade looked slightly confused before choosing to ignore us. “Let’s just start at the top. Carol.” “She made quite a few mistakes.” Wade frowned as Jet pulled up the video of her running. “What is the scoring? Like five points per task?” I asked. “That would make 20 points total so that is good.” Jet said. “To start, she immediately stepped on a mine and got herself killed. She didn’t even look around to make s

Jet and I were angry as we exited our room. Not at each other, but the situation we were put in. I thought everything was behind us. We thought we could have a normal quiet life now with our pack and our child. Nope. Now we have to deal with this. What kind of toll is this going to take on me? On our child? “Whoa, that is some major aggression you both have today.” Susan said as we turned the corner into the foyer. Brent, Susan and Wade were waiting for us. I was a little surprised to see Susan. Ever since Megan was killed, she hasn’t come around much if it wasn’t about the baby. “Let’s get this over with.” Jet said as he kept walking past his family and towards the golf carts. Everyone had a surprised looks on their face as they watched him go and then turned and gave me a questioning look. “Later.” I said and followed him out, too. I couldn’t walk as fast, but I was happy to see Jet was waiting by the side of the cart to help me in. No one spoke as we made our awkward golf cart r

“Alright, we have our rankings!” Jet said as he held up his paper. “What are they?” I asked. Jet had kept the names to himself and just wrote the score down by the person. “There are a few ties, but here it is.” He laid it out in front of us. My eyes instantly went to find Jameson. He scored a 25 out of 30. A huge relief washing through me as I kept looking down the line. 19… 22…13… 26 wait? What? It was Carol. She scored one higher than Jameson on the critical thinking test. On the bottom of the paper, there was a list of each name from top ranking to bottom. “Are we ready to go?” I was pacing in our office as Jet was finishing up each item on the critical thinking test. It had been a full week and I haven’t done anything but sit around and wait. Wait to go into labor, wait for Jameson to heal and even just wait for this tournament. There were a total of a dozen names on the paper. One female and the rest were males. “I’m finishing it now.” Jet said, slightly annoyed, but his patience was endless with me recently. I knew I was being a handful, but it was hard to relax. Susan had managed to get all the laundry done and put away, but there hadn’t been any progress in making a nursery. So I am worried about the nursery and worried about this tournament. I might have a heart attack before this is over. “You need to breathe.” Wade was sitting on the couch, watching me with a smile on his face. The fact that he found this funny was frustrating. “I’ll… I’ll… I’ll set you on fire!” I finally spit out at him. “We could put that in the obstacl

My feet were never so thankful to be wearing something so comfortable. I couldn’t imagine wearing heels or flats even. Not that I was full on waddling like Justina, but I could tell I was starting to get a sway. Jet gave me his arm to use as we made our way to the field. Brent and Wade had not shown up yet but I knew they weren’t that far behind. All the seats were filled. As we made our way to the front, I noticed everyone had mixed emotions about today. The thing is, I couldn’t tell if it was anger at me or anger at Jameson. There were some people crying, and some even looked happy. Happy his spot was open or happy because they didn’t like him? I couldn’t tell. “So many different emotions.” I commented in the mind-link. We had found our seats and sat down. Jameson and Samantha were standing ten feet from each other, with a baggy t-shirt. Samantha looked both scared and pissed off. Jameson just looked ashamed. “They hadn’t heard the full story, but rumors get spread. From what I
