Thank you all for reading!
Stepping out of the airplane was surreal. I was used to seeing the stars in the U. S, but this was a whole new level. They were flashing with so much light that it was like a million tiny moons. The crisp air whipped at my hair, but it was the smell that was mostly overwhelming. It smelled like fish mixed with a sickening sweet smell. I had never smelled that smell before, but it was like my body instantly knew what it was. “Vampires.” I said in the mind-link. I was afraid to speak out loud as we quietly walked down the dock. There wasn’t a soul in sight. Only the waves made any sounds as it hit the rocks lining the land. “Yeah. Our safe house is about a mile south.” “Do you know where are you going?” I asked, slightly nervous. “For the most part.” Jet sounded more sure than he felt, but I didn’t call him out on it. Everything in my body told me to stay in the streetlights, but mentally I knew it wouldn’t matter. If we came across a vampire, a streetlight wasn’t going to save
The hairs on my body was instantly raised as I looked up at the man. His face was hidden in the shadows of his hat, otherwise not an inch of skin was showing. “It’s a beautiful day. Why stay in one place?” I was proud of how even my voice was. “I think you will find my tour guidance more… educational.” The mystery man said. It sounded like we didn’t have a choice. “We don’t have a time frame, really. Thank you, though.” I said politely. “I’m sorry. I don’t think I made myself clear. You don’t really have a choice.” He said dangerously low as he leaned forward and whispered so low that a normal human couldn’t hear him. I noticed two other hooded figures moved forward, out from behind the shadow of a building across the street. “Let me make myself clear for you as well. I don’t take threats nicely. I would greatly caution you moving forward.” I said in a whisper. His eyes squinted at me. More loudly, so it didn’t look suspicious, “A tour would be nice.” We stood up to follow him.
“Well, it’s not my first choice…” “I’m sure you look beautiful.” Jet said confidently. I snorted at that. “Okay, let see if you still think that after you see this.” Stepping out of the changing room, the sales lady had a huge smile on her face. “That looks amazing on you! Mr. McClear sure does know how to pick the dress!” I felt his eyes on me before I saw him. His footsteps stopped mid-stride as I made eye contact with him. Slowly, his eyes traveled down my body, stopping at my left hip. He was both turned on and pissed off. “Your suit looks great!” the saleslady said to Jet. He looked amazing in it. All black look was my favorite. “What do you think of your wife’s dress?” It took him a minute to respond. “Looks like it was made for her.” “It really does!” She clapped her hand together. “Perfect! Go change and I’ll get these wrapped up for you to take.” She left before we even responded to her. With one last look at my body, Jet turned around and loosened his tie. I was
“I thought we were supposed to meet him at his office?” I asked in the mind-link as Jet walked towards the front door. “We were…” I followed a distance behind, unsure if I wanted or if I was even ready to be seen in this dress. I heard the front door open. “Good evening, sir. I am Pedro and I’ll be your driver tonight.” “A driver? We were going to meet at Mr. McClear’s office?” Jet asked, a little more sternly than I expected. “Change of plans. I must insist we get going.” We were stuck. It wasn’t like we knew the location to begin with. Taking a deep breath, I walked out from behind the wall. “It’s a good thing we are ready, then.” Taking Jet’s arm, I allowed him to lead me to the car. Pedro opened our door for us. He was wearing a traditional driver’s suit, but it was in blue. That struck me as odd, but I didn’t question it. As soon as the door opened to the car, I knew instantly that Mr. Clear was inside. The overwhelming smell of sweetness hit me full in the face. “Good ev
“Ladies and gentlemen! We have a last-minute addition to our line-up! Luna Ivory has agreed to be auctioned off!” He held out his hand for me to come to him. The lights blinded me as I made my way up to the stage. The hollers and whistles made my skin crawl, but all I could think about was Jet. “50k! a guy yelled out. “Oh my! I haven’t even st-” “55k!” Another guy yelled. “60K!” “70K!” “80K!” Pause… “80K goi-” the auctioneer started. “100K!” the room and myself gasped at this. $100,000… for me? I couldn’t see who it was because of all the lights. “100K going once… going twice… solid for $100,000!” I practically ran off the stage and back to where Jet was unconscious. “Happy? Now, give me my mate.” I said sternly, as my aura slipped out. It was directed at the two men holding Jet, who instantly dropped him as my aura wrapped around them. “What is this? Holding out on me?” Mr. McClear said as I grabbed Jet’s arm and put it around my shoulder. “You never asked.” I said b
Shit. Shit. Shit. This fucking night went to hell fast. I wasn’t sure what to do. It was probably the driver, wondering where Matthew was. Currently, he was tied up in my basement. I didn’t even know enough to know if I could knock him out. The chains seem to be holding. “I’ll be right back.” I said as I climbed the stairs. After shutting the door, I pushed against it a few times to make sure it was indeed shut and put the padlock on it. Hopefully, that holds. To be fair, what would be even do if he got out? Who would or could he even tell? That a little woman overpowered him? My heart was racing as I walked to the front door. After peaking through the window, it was the driver. “What?” I said, annoyed as I opened the door. “Is-is Mr. Collins-” He tried to look behind me. “Mr. Collins is occupied. I will have him returned after I complete my duties.” I half lied. Not the duties he wanted me to do, but the duties I needed to do, to save the world. “Understood.” He tipped his hea
"Oh, come on! I don’t know that!” Matthew whined. I was getting tired of beating around the bush. I tried playing nice, but Jet’s words ran through my head. I needed to be firm. Being nice isn’t always the answer. Pushing my aura out, I let it wrap around him and push. His neck was bowed and arched so much that I actually wondered if I could snap his neck. “STOP, STOP!” he yelled through gritted teeth. “I’m done being nice. Answer the question.” “I honestly don’t know… exactly. Last I heard was around Prague. That has always been their home.” That really got my attention. Could they really be alive still? I pulled my aura back a little. Matthew breathed a sigh of relief as he straighten his back, but he couldn’t fully relax. “Names?” I asked. “Some old names. I don’t really know. The only one I have ever met was Estella, and she was fucking crazy.” “How so?” “We went to Prague to look for … items.” Matthew narrowed his eyes at me. I didn’t care what items he wanted, thoug
The car came to an abrupt halt. We must be by the dump sight. So far, it wasn’t looking good for Matthew, but he was holding his own. I heard their doors open and slammed shut before the trunk opened up. They hoisted me out first and then Jet. I was probably a hundred meters walked before they dropped me hard on the ground. “What is going on here?” I heard Matthew asked, annoyed. “We have been to the house. It looks staged. So tell me, what really happened? Are they actually dead?” I heard Mr. McClear’s voice. It sounded more evil with each word. “Yes, they are. Tell me, do you not trust me?” Matthew sounded angry. “Whoa! A gun? Really?” Shit. This isn’t good. “I dont believe you.” Boom! The gun went off. I felt a sharp hot pain in my foot but it wasn’t my pain, it was Jet’s. “Oh look, blood that is flowing still.” “We need a distraction.” Jet mutter in the mind-link. The pain in his voice was heartbreaking. I didn’t know what to do. “Like what?” I asked Jet. “Make it rain.”
Thank you all for reading Opal Eyed Luna! This has been a story that has sat in my mind for a year that I just needed to get out. However, as I wrote it, the story took a turn that I had not expected and it ended up being much longer than anticipated. Since I have read and recieved so much feedback about legnths of books, I have decided to make this part one with a possible part 2 if you readers enjoyed it! I am working on two others right now but I don't feel like I am ready to not see where Ivory and Jet go with her new job title! If you would like to see a book two, please let me know! I love hearing all your thoughts! As always, I do read each and every one of them. As much as I try to like or reply to them all, I have a toddler that I am trying to potty train so it is a little crazy in my house hold! My new book out is called Diamond Eyed Luna. That might be the last in this series, depending if I write a book 2 on this one. It is currently available and I will be posting regu
“We are here to serve you.” Their voice was like ice water running down my veins. “Why can’t Jet see you?” “We could allow him to if you wish?” “Yes.” “Holy moth-” Jet took a step back and wrapped his arm around me. “He is very much your boss as I am.” I said, wanting them to listen to him too. “Understood.” It was weird talking to them. “What is your role? What do you do?” I asked, trying to understand. “We are your servants. When someone needs to pass through, you signal us and we take them there. We are also your protectors. If danger is near, we will tell you.” “That is how Adron was able to always be a step head of us.” I said to Jet in the mind-link. “One of many ways.” Jet replied. “Can you take me to the underworld?” “Sure, if you wish.” One of them said. “However, you may not get to come back.” Another one said. “Why?” Jet asked. You could almost feel them shift their eyes to him. “You are still human. Portal is a one way unless you are a god. Since you are
There appeared to be a clear understanding from Spencer and Jameson. Calvin needed to go. His attitude was not that of a gamma, but of a cocky little shit. One second they were all looking at each other and the next, Calvin realised what was happening. “Whoa! Guys! Come on!” Calvin tried to plead his case as both men jumped him. Jameson took high as Spencer took low. Calvin surprised me with how much of a fight he put up. He managed to knee Spencer in the ribs and land a single punch to Jameson before he was officially knocked out. Once he was removed, it was just Spencer and Jameson. I was on the edge of my eat, trying to see who was winning. Jet was feeling rather anxious himself, which didn’t help mine. These men had trained together. Jameson had trained Spencer, so it was coach verse student. Spencer tried a submission move that Jameson counteracted. Jameson would go to deliver a combination, and Spencer would avoid it expertly. For five whole minutes, not a single blow was l
“Come on, it wasn’t that bad!” Jet was on the other side of my locked bathroom door. Humiliation and embarrassment filled me as I stripped naked and turned the shower on. I had fallen asleep before Jet was back. So, I was trying to make it up to him this morning, but the sexy lingerie I was trying to put on was not baby bell proof. It stuck out like a busted can of biscuits and even ripped the material. The worst part, Jet had walked into the closet to see where I had went and found me in front of the mirror. I was about to pull the one piece down but my stomach ripped a hole, my ass was eating the underwear and there wasn’t enough fabric to cover my nipple. It looked absolutely horrifying. To top it off, I was out of breath from trying to get into it. Jet’s eyes widened as he tried to hide a smile. So, naturally, I am hiding in the bathroom. It was easy to rip it off as my stomach had already started it. Dying of embarrassment was a true statement that never hit me so hard before.
“That was an exhausting day.” My ass was sore from riding Colt all day. It normally wouldn’t be but with this extra weight on my stomach, my posture was off. “Watching the obstacle course twelve times isss… rough. I got my twelve miles in today.” Wade sat down in the chair. Jet was wearing only was wearing his shorts. With his bare chest, it was hard to focus. These pregnancy hormones are no joke. Plus, it has been forever since we had sex. “Focus, afterwards we can do whatever you want.” Jet teased me in my mind. “ANYWAY.” I said, a little too loud. Jet smirked, and Wade looked slightly confused before choosing to ignore us. “Let’s just start at the top. Carol.” “She made quite a few mistakes.” Wade frowned as Jet pulled up the video of her running. “What is the scoring? Like five points per task?” I asked. “That would make 20 points total so that is good.” Jet said. “To start, she immediately stepped on a mine and got herself killed. She didn’t even look around to make s
Jet and I were angry as we exited our room. Not at each other, but the situation we were put in. I thought everything was behind us. We thought we could have a normal quiet life now with our pack and our child. Nope. Now we have to deal with this. What kind of toll is this going to take on me? On our child? “Whoa, that is some major aggression you both have today.” Susan said as we turned the corner into the foyer. Brent, Susan and Wade were waiting for us. I was a little surprised to see Susan. Ever since Megan was killed, she hasn’t come around much if it wasn’t about the baby. “Let’s get this over with.” Jet said as he kept walking past his family and towards the golf carts. Everyone had a surprised looks on their face as they watched him go and then turned and gave me a questioning look. “Later.” I said and followed him out, too. I couldn’t walk as fast, but I was happy to see Jet was waiting by the side of the cart to help me in. No one spoke as we made our awkward golf cart r
“Alright, we have our rankings!” Jet said as he held up his paper. “What are they?” I asked. Jet had kept the names to himself and just wrote the score down by the person. “There are a few ties, but here it is.” He laid it out in front of us. My eyes instantly went to find Jameson. He scored a 25 out of 30. A huge relief washing through me as I kept looking down the line. 19… 22…13… 26 wait? What? It was Carol. She scored one higher than Jameson on the critical thinking test. On the bottom of the paper, there was a list of each name from top ranking to bottom. Carol- 26Jameson-25Spencer-22Leroy- 22Peter- 21Calvin- 21Mark- 19Ethan-19Tyler- 19Anthony- 17Beau-15Dalton-13 “Interesting.” Wade said as he studied it. “Oh, this isn’t good for me.” Sitting down, the panic feeling started creeping back up. “Don’t worry. Jameson excels at obstacle courses. Actually, Leroy might give him a run for his money tomorrow. Even give Carol a heart attack.” Jet said as he grabbed a th
“Are we ready to go?” I was pacing in our office as Jet was finishing up each item on the critical thinking test. It had been a full week and I haven’t done anything but sit around and wait. Wait to go into labor, wait for Jameson to heal and even just wait for this tournament. There were a total of a dozen names on the paper. One female and the rest were males. “I’m finishing it now.” Jet said, slightly annoyed, but his patience was endless with me recently. I knew I was being a handful, but it was hard to relax. Susan had managed to get all the laundry done and put away, but there hadn’t been any progress in making a nursery. So I am worried about the nursery and worried about this tournament. I might have a heart attack before this is over. “You need to breathe.” Wade was sitting on the couch, watching me with a smile on his face. The fact that he found this funny was frustrating. “I’ll… I’ll… I’ll set you on fire!” I finally spit out at him. “We could put that in the obstacl
My feet were never so thankful to be wearing something so comfortable. I couldn’t imagine wearing heels or flats even. Not that I was full on waddling like Justina, but I could tell I was starting to get a sway. Jet gave me his arm to use as we made our way to the field. Brent and Wade had not shown up yet but I knew they weren’t that far behind. All the seats were filled. As we made our way to the front, I noticed everyone had mixed emotions about today. The thing is, I couldn’t tell if it was anger at me or anger at Jameson. There were some people crying, and some even looked happy. Happy his spot was open or happy because they didn’t like him? I couldn’t tell. “So many different emotions.” I commented in the mind-link. We had found our seats and sat down. Jameson and Samantha were standing ten feet from each other, with a baggy t-shirt. Samantha looked both scared and pissed off. Jameson just looked ashamed. “They hadn’t heard the full story, but rumors get spread. From what I
