ADELE'S STANDPOINT
"You look so amazing Adele. Can't wait to see you walk down the aisle in a few minutes." Kieran, my friend and assistant, gushed over me excitedly as she positioned beside me in a pose, in the brides waiting room while the camera guy took photos. The few of my other friends agreed to this as they all crowded me, making comments and squealing about how beautiful I look.
I smiled beautifully, with all my teeth out over their words. It's my big day, the day I've long anticipated. I'd be getting married to the love of my life today_Carlo, my perfect man. I'm excited and I can't wait to see his pretty jaw drop when he beholds his beautiful bride. Having dated for closely four years, Carlo and I decided we would be tying the marital knots today, on my birthday. He's everything I'd ever prayed for in a partner. Carlo Rodriguez is kind and honest, loyal and smart, neat and hard working. Gorgeous with a particular irresistible boyish smile that always amazes me. Adding to his amazing personality is his outstanding dress sense, boy, Carlo rocks hard on whatever he wears. Being a fashion designer myself, I couldn't compare my level of fashion skills to his. To top it all, he was tall_not much taller than myself because I'm over 5ft tall. His height was perfect for me. Ever since we met during our university days, I've always had many reasons to trip over him and today, oh today, we'll be saying the marital vows to each other. Heck! My level of euphoria could be considered one that's over the moon. I'm truly happy, but as much as I tried to convince myself that everything was hundred percent fine, I couldn't suppress the feeling of alarm that seems to trouble me within. What could possibly go wrong? Is my ex gonna show up and ruin my day for me? I doubt that. Is there any reason to be alarmed about my marriage today? Heck no! All is fine, everything would be fine. I'm probably just reeled up because of my hyper excitement. I smiled as I inhaled the beautiful bouquet of red roses in my hands, allowing the alluring scent to greet my nostrils as I strike a pose. I've always loved red roses. "OMG! Adele! You're being featured as the best dressed bride in recent times at the Tiara Fashion Blog." Lu Cheng, my chief bridesmaid, announced to my amazement. "What?! Oh my Gosh!" I exclaimed in surprise. "Yes baby. I mean, check out your own wedding dress, to think you designed it yourself." Lana, another of my female friends, praised as she took photos. I designed my wedding dress myself and it turned out just as perfect as I've always imagined. My white wedding dress was the typical mermaid silhouette, with several hint of gold. What made my dress exquisite, was the peculiar pattern in which it was made. The designs were unlike any I've come across before and it gladdens my heart to know the famous Tiara Fashion Blog featured me as the best dressed bride to be seen in a long while. Presently, I was up from my bridal chair, dancing blissfully with my friends. It's my birthday and my wedding day after all, I deserve every cause to be happy. Or so I thought... "Adele! Adele!!" We stopped dancing abruptly when he heard the door of the waiting room suddenly burst open. I turned around to find Pat, my wedding organizer looking so distraught and exhausted. "Pat, what happened? Why are you gasping so much?" Lu Cheng asked immediately, hurrying to his side with her hands gathering her flowing peach colored bridesmaid gown and her glass heels, clicking against the transparent glass floor as she walked. "It's Carlo." He announced, my smile dissipated to instant worry and panic as I paused, my hands falling wobbly beside me. "What happened to Carlo?" I hurriedly walked to him, the girls with me. "He's not here yet and we can't reach him. His friends either. The guests are already beginning to murmur over the delay. I'm afraid, you have to step out before the groom arrives." Pat announced and a sudden fear gripped me. "Lu Cheng, give me my phone. I'll call him right away." I said amidst my panic. "It's no use Adele, his number isn't reachable." He sighed, shaking his head as though pathetically. "That's not true. Carlo and I had a lengthy conversation early this morning. I'll call him myself, probably your phone's faulty. Cheng my pho..." She placed it in my stretched palm before I completed my statement. I pushed my bouquet into Kieran's hands and with shaking hands, I dialed Carlo's number, murmuring a silent prayer within me that his phone rings and he picks up. I called his number but what I heard left me stunned. ~Number not reachable at the moment, try later~Refusing to believe, I dialed the line again. ~Your call can't be processed at the moment as the number you're trying to call is currently switched off, try again later~ No, I'm not believing this. It's gotta be a joke. I was shaking my head negatively as I began to tremble visibly. I kept dialing the number until Lu Cheng had to snatch the phone from me. Tears were rolling out of my eyes now and ruining my makeup but I didn't care. What was I supposed to now that I can't find my supposed husband? Did he abandoned me? No, Carlo would never do that. He wouldn't! The girls pulled me back to my chair and began consoling me to the best of their abilities. "Dela, don't think of it that way. We all know Carlo would never abandon you. Besides, you talked with him this morning, remember? I think something must have happened that's why he's not here yet. His friends are not here too. Relax girl, we'll ask Pat to try any of the guys number so we'll check on him." Lana tried to calm me down as she used a small hanky to wipe my tears, while she tried to dab my face with makeup to cover up my already swollen eyes. "Yes Adele. With how romantic Carlo can be, who knows if he's planning a surprise for you." My eyes lit up instantly over Lu Cheng's words. That's true, Carlo have always been a romantic partner. I should see this in good faith and not be panicky for nothing. "I totally agree. So let's get your beautiful majesty, matching down the aisle in all her glory." Kieran said and I grinned. "That's right baby! We're always here for you, never forget that." They kissed my cheeks and I smiled and hugged them immediately. "Thank you girls." I smiled, feeling a bit relieved but still slightly uneasy. My eyes traveled after Pat's retreating figure as he placed a call.______ Moments after I'd walked down the aisle, smiling brightly at my friends and guests and seated at my space in the beautifully decorated bridal chair, did I received the greatest shock of my entire existence. Pat walked up to me and whispered to my ear that Carlo had disappeared. My bouquet fell from my hands instantly, rolling down the floor. "I'm so sorry Adele. After placing a call to his friends, one of them told me they haven't heard from him ever since earlier this morning when he had informed them he wanted to grab something quickly in a mall; as he insisted it was important. But since then, he didn't return. After searching for him for a while at the mall, they returned to the hotel they were lodging and got shocked to find his important things gone. Like his visa, travel papers etc that was in his bag initially because of the supposed honeymoon trip to Sweden all gone. I don't know what to do right now Adele. It seems we have to cancel the we..." And that was all I heard before everything became black and I found myself slipping into unconsciousness._______ "So Ms. Adele, which do you think would suit me best?" I snapped out of my reverie, and smiled brightly at my beautiful twenty years old client. Her wedding is coming up in three weeks and she had come to shop for her wedding dress in my Fashion house with her fiance. My client whose name's Brittany Roshan, an American-indian, was holding two wedding dresses against her chest as she stared at her reflection on the full length mirror in the dressing room. One was a sheer overlay pretty wedding dress and the other was a lace tatoo wedding dress. Both were her size and would fit her just right. "Uhmm," I tapped my chin_as though thoughtfully as I stared at her. Her pretty eyes had an eager and expectant look in them that told me right away, which she really loved. I could tell she wanted the sheer overlay dress and I smiled. She only asked for confirmation from me since I was a professional and it's my field. "The sheer overlay dress would look amazing on you dear." I said and she grinned instantly. "Really?" I nodded smilingly. "I thought as much. Then I'll take this one but first, let me see what my fiance thinks about this." She said. "Sure darling, you can." I nodded to the sales assistant beside me, indicating her to continue. She bowed low in understanding and I exited the room, walking down the hallway to the nearest elevator. Exactly six years ago, I was her age, feeling beautiful and expectant as I wore my exquisitely self designed, wedding dress on my birthday. I keep being reminded of the hurt and humiliations I experienced that day on every year of my birthday. My birthdays no longer excite me as they did, years ago. Instead, they reminded me of the hell of an experience I went through. One I wasn't able to recover from in a while. I don't work on my birthdays except a special client needed my assistance, like today with Brittany. I couldn't forgive myself for being the fool but most of all, I couldn't forgive him. I so much want to take my revenge but he disappeared without a single trace. I too hadn't stepped foot in the Philippines ever since I left. Home reminded me so much of him and I needed to leave for my sake, for my sanity. America's been good to me so far, I have no regrets moving here. I led a quiet life. Except for people I interact with at my company and few other acquaintances I made while doing business, I kept to myself. Moments later, I arrived at my home in New York city. I packed my car at the garage of my four room duplex and stepped out, shutting the door after me. As I arrived at the entrance, I noticed the lights inside were on and the TV was playing too. Did I forget to lock my apartment before leaving? Of course not. Because as I punched in the password of the door lock, it opened, indicating I didn't leave the house carelessly open before leaving. This means, I didn't switch off the lights neither did I turn off the TV before leaving home earlier. I doubt I didn't.Well, I shrugged and made my way inside pulling off my shoes at the corridor and slipping on my comfy peach colored rabbit ears flipflops. Immediately I walked into my living room, I received the shock of my life. Literally, I wasn't mentally prepared to see the person sitting comfortably in my couch while eating from a bowl of popcorn and watching TV.I mean, how's this possible?!!ADELE'S STANDPOINT "Lu Cheng?" The lady removed her gaze from the TV to me and flashed me a wide grin. "What in the world! How did...how did you_" my remaining words caught in the air when with the speed of a cheetah, she was hugging me so tight I could barely breathe. My hand bag dropped on the floor and tears clouded my vision as I wrapped my arms around her. I haven't seen my bestfriends for closely six years after I left home. Although we still communicated constantly via social media I had still missed them terribly but home wasn't calling my name in a long while and I never planned to return back to the place where I received the biggest shock, embarrassment and shame of my entire life. Cheng was more grown now, married with two kids. She looked much fleshy than I last remember her to be and she now had bangs on her usually straight and long brown hair. We were both still gushing and crying over how well we've missed each other when another surprise package gree
ADELE'S STANDPOINT "I'll go take a look." I said, dropping my wine glass on the table and walking out the living area into the corridor that led to the door. I live alone and I'm not expecting anyone, so who could have made that sound? I held up my long auburn wavy curls in a bun as I walked. I've had no time to do that since I returned home because of the surprise guests I had. I also haven't changed out of my simple bodycon v-neck black dress, since I returned from the company. Well, over the years, I'd established my business and my company had grown remarkably over time. I have several branches of my *DeLa's Fashion House* company in different parts of the world. Mostly in America, Asian and Africa. I was rich from birth but I've always loved the simple lifestyle. My parents are well and doing fine with the rest of my siblings in the Philippines. With the headquarters of my company here in America, I had the opportunity to meet several important personalities, gain
ADELE'S STANDPOINT "Adele! Adele! Hey! Wait up!" I refused to answer him as I continue stomping away in rage as tears were already beginning to cloud my vision. It wasn't long before he caught up with me at the balcony of the building's middle floor. "Hey Adele, listen..." "No! I can't and I won't work with her. I won't let her model my dress. Never!" I spat with excessive hate, turning swiftly to face him. He ran a hand into his hair and sighed wearily. "But why? Why can't you let her model that design? I'm sure you won't deny that it suit her well too. So why can't you..." "I don't care if that bitch is fit for the role Arsenio. What I know is that, I'll never let her model my dress! Get me someone else or I quit my entry in the RELISH FASHION SHOW!" I yelled just as a single tear rolled down my cheeks. "You know what? Just come here." Arsenio said and within the blink of an eyelid, I was pulled into his arms while he gently pat my back. "It's fine Adele. I won't pry anymore. I
ADELE'S STANDPOINT I drove my car into my home only to find my friends packing stuff into Lana's new car and looking all dressed up and ready to go out. Ever since they moved here two weeks ago, I got used to them showing up unannounced in my house. Kieran and her husband already travelled back to the Philippines about two days ago, so it was just Lana and Lu Cheng, storming my home at the best time ever. My mood from the incident at Excellency Modeling Agency still accompanied me home, despite Arsenio's efforts to cheer me up. I had to return home earlier than usual__as Mayven already succeeded in ruining my mood. After I'd packed my car at my garage, I walked to them and they grinned at me instantly. However, their smiles left their faces immediately they noticed my sullen mood. "Dela, what happened? You don't look so great." Lana stated immediately. "True she doesn't. Good thing you're here, we've just finished packing some casual but necessary items from your home.
NARRATIVE She walked into the studio room feeling a lot better than she was the previous day. Immediately she walked in, everyone inside and the air suddenly became tensed and she noticed how they were all looking at her, while mumbling to one another. Adele's shoulders dropped that instant. "Oh common guys, don't be like that. I'm sorry about yesterday." She paused midway inside the studio. "We've always been a great team or haven't we?" "Adele, you were really scary yesterday." The camera guy, Damien said with a soft chuckle. The others nodded poutingly in agreement and Adele sighed, rubbing her hand against her grey suit. "I know and I'm sorry, really." She pouted and that did the trick. The whole team consisting over eight people burst out laughing. They always found it hard to resist her when she did that. They include; the camera team, the makeup team, the hair dressing team and her own team, the dress team. Yes, two assistants from her company were right besi
CARLO'S POV I walked into the elevator with John, my private agent. "How did it go? Were you able to get any audience with her family?" I asked, a bit hopeful. "I'm afraid, it wasn't successful Mr Rodriguez. They didn't let me in or responded to my emails, texts or calls. I've heard no word from them all through the six times we've attempted. I dare to say, you should give up on this quest. I asked around and no one has seen her in years neither did they want to talk about her. It's like she's disappeared from the Philippines." He said and I smiled sadly. "It's fine John. I guess we have to stop sending people over." I said. The elevator door opened at the last floor and we stepped out, heading towards the exit as the employees bowed low in greeting when they saw me. My phone rang in that moment and I retrieved it from pants pocket. Alvin was calling. "Boss, I have news for you about that lady." He said immediately the call connected. I froze on my steps instantly.
ADELE'S POV I had baby Celestine in my arms while Holly was busy doing _only her knows what_ on my toes. I'm in there home. Their dad, John was out and their Mom, Lu Cheng was sitting across me, surfing the web while chewing on a gum I think have been long enough in her mouth. I mean, since I came in here directly from work, she's been chewing on that gum and that's about one hour and some minutes ago. Coming here directly after I closed at the office, helped in easing my mind greatly. It's a good thing they moved here, now my life could be a little bit better. Immediately I rang their doorbell and Cheng had ushered me in, my eyes caught sight of her kids and my sour mood left me instantly. Her kids are so adorable, so much one could think of stealing them. We talked about random stuff and laughed over pretty much silly stuff. Celestine was sucking on his thumb playfully and occasionally, he'll let out those adorable babyish gibberish and giggle over absolutely not
NARRATIVE Alvin stared at the laptop before him, quietly lost in his thoughts. He was right. This lady here was his boss's woman. He'd searched out the name DeLa's Fashion House on the Internet and an exquisite building having about ten stories popped on his laptop screen and right there he started his investigations. Adele Rivera is the CEO of DeLa's Fashion House, one of the top five most famous and successful fashion designing companies in New York City and also among the top ten in America. She's quite a successful beauty...he noted. However it was surprising how they couldn't find her all this while. That was because, she was in the country they never thought she'll be. They were searching the wrong places all this while, no doubt.Alvin had been to the company few hours ago and had discreetly surveyed the area with hopes of seeing her walk out or drive out but he got nothing. We've found her now, so what next? He mused as his finger tapped on the 'enter' key on his k
Hey guys! It's Author Queenes here. I wanna say thanks to everyone who took out time to read this novel. I hope you were inspired by this book as I was too. Finally, we've come to an end of Adele and Carlo's love story. When I started writing this novel three months ago, I didn't think I'd be able to complete it. I admit, it wasn't an easy journey but y'all here precious people who kept reading, unlocking the chapters, voting, commenting and adding my books to your libraries was the biggest support an author could ever have wished for. Y'all were my biggest motivation and finally, I was able to scale through this because of your believe in me. Your encouragements were what motivated me to keep on going with this project even when I was at my weakest moments. Thanks for believing in a newbie author like me and giving my book your support. I'm sincerely grateful :) I hope we all keep sharing love around. Lastly, I'd sincerely love to know your thoughts about the novel ONLY TILL FO
EPILOGUE~Five Years Later~ Someone was tapping her gently, trying to wake her up. Adele frowned in her sleep and pulled the duvet even more, over her face. "Bebeeee!" She groaned. "Just one more hour. It's soooo cold." Carlo smiled and pulled down the duvet once more. He stared down at her pouting lips and chuckled. "Come on now, otherwise Kerrin wouldn't spare us if she's unable to attend Celestine's 6th birthday party. You know how persistent she gets." He tried to coax her using their three year old daughter and his plan pulled through successfully. Adele sat up with a start at the mention of their daughter. Kerrin was just as persistent as Carlo. Not only that, she also shows great personality similarities with Maddy, Adele's Mom. The only thing the cute little one got from her was her appearance. Kerrin has pretty hazel eyes __which she obviously got from her Dad, Adele's smile and her facial features but her black hair was also from her Dad. She's so cute a
FINAL CHAPTERADELE'S POV Some hours later, our plane landed at the 'Ninoy Aquino International Airport' and the moment we stepped out of the terminal, some escort cars were already waiting for us. Moments after I'd stopped on my tracks and inhaled the scent of the country I've not stepped foot in for many years, I exhaled sharply and nodded slightly to Clara. Without wasting time or much words, we both stepped in the car and the thirty minutes drive to Quezon City began. "Clara, not much have changed in this city over the years. It still looked as exactly as I could remember..." I said with my gaze out the window and a small smile on my lips while I stared through the streets as our car drove past. "Oh, look at that stall Ma always sent us to get her beverages. I guess she still shops here." "Yeah, she still does. Although Willy does most of the shopping these days." Clara said beside me and I chuckled. "I thought as much."They'd be so surprised to see me again after
NARRATIVE "I'm sorry okay? I promise you Lisa, this is the last Elaine and I would set you up on a blind date. Okay?" "Wasn't that what you said the last time too?" Lisa frowned as she stared at hers and Rosy's reflection on her full length vanity mirror. "No seriously, this is different. If at the end of it you still don't like him, you're free to cut me off for one month...oh no, one week.." Lisa smirked as she picked up the red lipstick on her vanity. "One month. You said it yourself. If he really turns out the same as the others or maybe even worse than the last, you'd have to keep to your word, sweetheart." She said. Rosy scratched her neck somewhat reluctantly. "Can we just make it one week? You know I can't keep off from you for even a day." She whinned and Lisa rolled her eyes. "Since you know it, why did you bother? It was your suggestion and I like it even more." She chuckled. "Why? Aren't you certain anymore that I'd like this dude?" "Oh gosh! This girl
NARRATIVE~Five days later~Trixie! The name's of Latin origin, meaning the bringer of joy.And that's what they named her; Trixie Raya Henry. Lana's and Alistair's pretty sunshine. Adele smiled as the memories of the past five days replayed in her head. She leaned further into her seat and closed her eyes, pulling down the black sleeping eye mask over her eyes. Beside her in the luxury first class compartment of the plane, Clara had huge dark shades on and she's deeply engrossed in a novel with Lily __ Adele's cute white poodle, on her laps. During these five days, Adele had taken care of some important matters in her company and had left the company under the care of her PA and sales manager. The news of her engagement to Carlo Rodriguez, hasn't hit the public yet. They had decided it was best not to announce it to the world for now until issues with her family's been sorted out. Thus, Adele refrained from sharing her joy publicly even when she badly wanted to. For now, the
NARRATIVE "A baby girl?" The girls chorused in their surprise. "Yes." The Doctor nodded. "Yesss!!!" Alistair squealed. "I got me a princess! A mini Lana!" He gushed and wasted no time in hurrying inside. Adele and Clara couldn't help but stare at the Doctor in confusion. Noticing this, the middle aged Doctor smiled and went ahead to explain the misunderstandings to them. "Ah, it seems you were all expecting a baby boy huh?" He chuckled. "The fault is from the hospital she had gotten a scan at, in the Philippines. They made a mistake in her scan result, probably an issue of swapped files. And she's not gotten another scan for the sex of the child since then." He nodded at them before he walked off. The sisters stared after his retreating figure in wonder. It seems he had no idea how the situation turned out like this too. "Ah, forget it. Let's go see Lana." Adele smiled, pulling Clara along. She wondered what the girls have to say to this, especially Lu Cheng
NARRATIVEPRESENTLY She leaned up and placed a quick kiss on his lips. "Don't worry, I'll call you." Adele smiled at Carlo and he sighed, finally letting go his hold on her waist. "I know. But are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" He asked for the umpteenth time since he escorted her down here to the rooftop of CR'S Luxury, where his private jet was waiting. "Come on Bebe. We've talked about this already. I can't let you leave the company now, when you've been absent for a long while. In as much as I'd appreciate your company, I can't let you come with me now. Brenda needs you by her side. The company needs you too. I'd definitely keep in touch before traveling to the Philippines as we've discussed. Okay?" She caressed his cheeks with her thumbs, her lips pursed and he slowly nodded. "Okay." He smiled. "You should go in now." He stared behind her at the waiting Jet. "Alright. See you soon." Adele nodded as she turned to leave. However, Carlo caught her hand b
CHAPTER 95NARRATIVE Smiling into each other's eyes as they ate in silence, Adele couldn't help but keep reminiscing over the events from few minutes ago. Immediately she'd said 'Yes' and Carlo had swept her off her feet, both had shared an intimate moment with their lips before they were interrupted by the staff members that'd helped Carlo organize the event. They congratulated the couple on their new journey together, and had taken photos with them also before they quietly dispersed and left the couple to themselves. Carlo had then brought her to the luxurious and romantic dinner table the staff already prepared for them __ based on his earlier instructions. "Once a romantic, always a romantic." Adele said as she stared at the diamond ring in her ring-finger, while Carlo chuckled over her words. "You've always wanted to go on a yacht date, under the sunset and although it took several years, I just granted your wish." He smiled. "Right." She nodded. "In the most
ADELES'S POV I understand Carlo had proposed to me about six years and some months ago. As I stare at him now through my teary eyes, I can't help but remember the proposal at the beach. But comparing both now, this was the most romantic thing I'd ever witnessed. Words can't describe perfectly, how I'm feeling at this moment. I was certain when I had said 'yes' to marrying him several years ago. But this time, I was even more certain that I can't spend the rest of my life without this man in it. I was sure and even more willing to walk through forever with him. He's my soulmate and there's never gonna be anything changing that.Let's do this, Adele!Let's say 'yes' to a promising forever again. "Will you marry me, Adele?" Carlo asked again, his eyes eagerly searching mine. I smiled through my tears and nodded vigorously at him. "Yes!" The flash of relief and joy I saw in Carlo's eyes when he heard me, made me feel like I was floating on air. "Yes please!!" I repeated v
