The main event of the day ended without any further trouble and had left Ezra and Giselle feeling exhausted.
Giselle, who was dealing with a bad foot ache, didn’t try complaining when Ezra had assigned her the room opposite his. It was clearly stated in the contract so she expected nonetheless.
As soon as the brunette had taken off her engagement dress, she collapsed straight on the bed and dozed off.
Ezra, on the other hand, had things to do.
“Give me the list.” Ezra demanded with an outstretched palm, watching as Jubril hurtled towards his table, brown clip board in hand.
It was sometime close to midnight and the list of hotel check-in had arrived. Ezra was determined to get to the bottom of his suspicions.
“The staffs gathered all the list of guest that had checked-in the morning before you arrived. They even assured that the lost security footages would be recovered by next month.” Jubril reported, handing the clip board to his employer.
Ezra collected it, flipping it over to look at the list of names that had been complied. “Get them fired. Incompetent people like those don’t deserve to work at a place I own shares in.”
“Yes Mr. Heinrich.” Jubril bowed and was about to leave when Ezra spoke up.
“Run a total background check on Raquel Davis and Ethan Monroe.” He said as his eyes gazed passed their names.
“The eldest son of the Monroe family? May I ask why?” Jubril was cautious with his words, after all, he had worked with Ezra for a solid three years and knew how his temper was.
“No.” Ezra deadpanned while flipping to the next page. “Now go.”
“Yes Sir.” The black-ette took one last look at his employer before exiting. Ezra had never asked him to run background checks on people outside his business circle.
To say that was an odd behavior would be a little to small.
Ezra continued to look through the list, dragging his finger along the page as he did so. It wasn’t until he spotted the name he was searching for that his eyes darkened.
Giselle Cornwell.
It was writing there in the hotels fine literature style.
‘Ah, so she was there.’
Shutting the list close, Ezra threw it on the table, allowing the clip board to nearly slide off the other end of his table.
Now Ezra had no choice than to believe what his mind had been probing him to.
There was a ninety-nine percent chance that Giselle is his mystery woman.
The brunette sighed and pressed his two of his fingers on the bridge of his nose.
He didn’t regret anything he had said or done, but it just seemed like more trouble, at the same time less trouble.
“Forget it.” Ezra murmured and stood up, deciding to leave the matter until he had a more clear and rested head.
Stepping out of his study, Ezra approached his room, stopping briefly once his hand had grabbed the knob of his room door. For some reason he glanced back towards the opposite door, staring at it for a while before letting go of his door’s hand and moving towards the door.
As the knob twisted and the door came open, Giselle glanced back from where she stood, in front of her window over looking the garden below.
Her eyes first scanned the darkened side of her room door, as her only source of light was the night Light that she had left on beside her bed and the light wasn’t able to reach every corner of her room.
“Who’s there?” Giselle questioned, tightening the lilac colored robe around her body.
Ezra walked into the room, stopping where the light began.
“Oh, Mr. Heinrich, is something the matter?” Giselle’s asked, turning her body in his direction.
Ezra’s gaze trailed down her body. The lilac robe she was wearing wasn’t doing much in covering the black bra and lace underwear she had on.
Did she even know it was see through?
“Mr. Heinrich?”
Ezra examined her figure under the additional light of the moon. There was no doubt her body had similar features to that of his mystery woman.
Giselle felt small under his inspective gaze. She shrunk back and tightened her arms around her body.
“Lockwood hotels, what were you doing there six days ago?”
She blinked, flustered and startled by his question. Why was he suddenly asking such a question?
Giselle fiddled with her finger. She wasn’t about to explain how she had lost her virginity and watched her life crash, to a man whom she was in a contractual relationship with.
“N-nothing. I just paid a friend a visit.”
Ezra narrowed his eyes at the brunette who looked anxious.
“You paid a friend a visit? At a hotel?”
Giselle furiously nodded her head as she tried to remain calm, now looking everywhere but his face.
The fact that Ezra had suddenly asked her about that night, riled her nerves up.
“Yes. I-I went to ask for a favor.”
Ezra didn’t take his gaze off her face as she spoke. He could sense that she was nervous. The pauses in her speech gave it all out.
Giselle was too caught up in redirecting the conversation that she didn’t notice when Ezra had strode across the room, closing the distance between them and grabbing her wrist.
The brunette yelped.
“I warned you not to take me as a fool.” He growled. “Now are you going to keep lying to me?”
“L-lying to you?” Giselle tried to wriggle her wrist free but Ezra tightened his grip. “I didn’t lie to you. Now please let go of my wrist, Mr. Heinrich…”
“You checked in around nine-forty-three pm and checked out around two in the morning. What type of a visit is that?” Ignoring her current battle to get her wrist free, Ezra stepped in closer. “Except something else happened.”
Giselle’s was ready to flare out on him and snapped her head up, only to be startled by their close proximity. Her baby green eyes gaze into his hazel ones which were less than four inches away, she could feel each breath he let out.
Giselle’s breath ceased and her heart skipped a beat.
Why was he so close?
“What are you…”
Ezra spoke in a low baritone voice that sent shivers up her spine. “Your eyes say it all.” He said and with his free hand, he traced the moon tattoo on her neck.
Each place that had been traced by his finger left a burning sensation on Giselle’s skin.
Her body was reacting to his touch in ways she had never expected.
Leaning in closer, Ezra traced his thumb on her lower lip, the contact of her lip leaving a tingling sensation on his finger.
Giselle was totally frozen by his actions.
He wasn’t attempting to kiss her, right?
He had made it clear that he had no interest in her, that this was a loveless engagement. But yet he was doing all this?
Ezra’s leaned in further, so close that their lips were almost touching, and then he traced his thumb on her upper lip, feeling it as plumped as it was that night.
That night, after just one kiss, Ezra had developed a strange addiction for her lips. The velvet taste they carried was maddening and their softness drove him crazy each time he captured them in between his.
Ezra dipped his head and Giselle became panicked.
“Ezra, stop this…”
Her protest was cut short as his lips engulfed hers, swallowing her voice.
Giselle felt heat spread throughout her body, a tingling sensation settling in her lower section as Ezra moved his lip. Her mind blurred and her struggles reduced.Just as she felt her legs slowly start to lose strength, Ezra wrapped his arm around her waist, hoisting her up and pressing her back against the wall as he deepened the kiss, probing her shut mouth for entrance with his tongue. When she still denied him entrance, Ezra slipped his hand underneath her robe and slowly dragged his finger up her thigh, stopping near her womanhood and giving her thigh a harsh squeeze.Giselle gasped at the action, allowing him to slip his tongue into her mouth.Ezra didn’t stop there, he begun to rub his thumb in circular motion on her thigh. The contact brought a burning sensation on Giselle’s skin and she felt her insides clench as she fought to hold back involuntary moans. When Ezra pulled back, they were both out of breath and Giselle looked like she was about to cry as her long lashes flutt
Giselle didn’t like it, the look in Ezra’s eyes right before she shut hers. The thought of them sharing any more intimate moment made goosebumps breakout all over her body and she began trying to wriggle free of his hold. After climbing out of his embrace, Giselle took two steps back, placing some much needed distance between herself and him.“Thank you for stopping my fall, Mr. Heinrich.” Giselle bowed her head. “I’ll get going now.”And with that, Giselle strode away, passing by a confused Jubril.“Have you done what I asked you to?” Ezra asked, his voice taking its usual nonchalant tone.“Yes.” Jubril rushed to pulled out two different papers, each containing enough details on each individual.Ezra collected it with easy and read through the first one.“Apart from the basic details we already know about the younger master of the Monroe family, I found a few interesting others.” Jubril begun, watching as his employer read the paper at hand. “The younger master attended Colworth univ
BAM!Crackling sound of broken bones echo throughout the work space, followed by a pained scream.“Argh! My nose. She broke my fucking nose.” Eva shrieked and burst into tears, feeling a warm liquid trickle down her nose. When she placed her palm there, the blonde almost fainted after seeing her own blood.Commotion arouse in the office at the scene. People had stopped their work and began watching, gasping as they saw blood running down Eva's Philtrum.“You witch! Why’d you do that?!”‘Look in the mirror before you call people names.’ Giselle clenched and unclenched her first, feeling it throb.“Oops. Your face looked so much like a punching bag that I couldn't resist. My bad.” Giselle shrugged with a calm expression on her face. The feeling of Eva’s nose dislocating against her knuckles felt magical. The brunette felt alive and wasn’t planning on apologizing for her action, after all, Eva didn’t even think of apologizing after she dumped a whole cup of hot coffee on her laptop.Gise
By the time Giselle clocked out, it was late at night. And as she walked through the revolving door, the brunette couldn’t help but do a little stretch.A whole week off work had made her soft.Giselle heard her phone ding and reached for it, pulling it out only to see that her Uber had cancelled on her.Her face fell and she shoved her phone back into her mini bag, huffing out in annoyance as this had been the third Uber to cancel on her.Her only options right now were the bus and the subway, but seeing as the Bus station was just a few blocks down, closed than the subway, Giselle opted for the closest one, but the thought of walking down the street alone at night, while it was chilly, made her gulp. But she had no other option as of now. With a determined nod, the brunette had readied herself to start speed walking, when a fancy looking Rolls Royce stopped in front. The backseat window rolled down, revealing Ezra’s ethereal facial structure.“Get in the car.” He demanded.Giselle h
Ezra’s words rang in Giselle’s ear like a never ending broken record player. The brunette stared up at him, searching his hazel eyes once again.“What?” She finally asked in a low toned voice.Ezra kept silent, staring down at the woman below him as his fingers slowly reached for strands of her hair. The feeling of her silk and smooth hair brought electric sparks to his fingertips.“Why would you say that? You want me to become your woman? What the fuck does that mean coming from you?”Giselle pushed Ezra off, standing to her feet and looking him dead in the eyes. Those eyes that held so much power over the way her body reacted.“It means exactly what it means.” Ezra responded, tucking his hands away in his pocket and watching her.Giselle’s reaction was everything. The way her cheeks flushed, the way her ears reddened and best of all, the way she furiously batted her lashes.Ezra found it enjoyable.Giselle wasn’t a child, she easily understood what Ezra meant.“Mr. Heinrich,” The br
Giselle blinked cursorily as she stared at the man in front in a state of slight panic.“M-Mr. Heinrich.”“Why do you look so surprised, Giselle?” Ezra asked, tilting his head to the side and studying her facial expression.Giselle gulped and stepped back. Even though he wasn’t touching her, his presence still made her feel uneasy. Ezra stepped forward, following her each step she took, until her back pressed against the wall. There was nowhere else for her to go and as she watched the male in front of her inch closer, her heart began to once again thump in her ears.Ezra placed his hand beside her head, trapping her against the wall. His eyes then gravitated down her body, lingering on her well defined neckline, for seconds before scanning the dress she chose to wear.It was one of the numerous dresses he had filled her walk-in-closet with and he was more than delighted seeing it on her body.A deep sea green spaghetti hand gown, that stopped above her knees and had a deep V neckline
Giselle didn’t move or budge from where she stood, her eyes stayed trained on the figure stepping out of the elevator.Life had a funny way of rubbing her failures right in her face.Ethan had been adjusting his suit when he stepped at, flinching back as he saw Giselle standing in front.“Giselle-”Ethan begun but Giselle interrupted him, glaring at him in the deadliest way she possibly could.“Why are you here?”Ethan cleared his throat and squared his shoulders. He was well aware of the chances of running into Giselle at Dano’s accounting firm, after all, he knew she had worked there for two years. But after hearing a new CEO was going to be inaugurated and he being in desperate need of huge support for his new project, Ethan decided to go.“I have business to take care of here.”Giselle scrunched up her face in disbelief. No one ever told her she was going to be working in the same place as a common traitor. She would rather resign than work in a company where he’d place any future
“Get out.” Ezra facilely said as he stared menacingly at the male in front.Ethan’s lips hung open like a dislocated doll’s mouth.Ezra Heinrich. That was the last person he had expected to become the new CEO.Ethan began sweating bullets. The moment he stepped into the CEO’s office, he could see all his future investments crashing before his eyes.“But Mr. Heinrich-” Ethan began, not getting far with his words as Ezra raised his palm to silence him.“What I fail to understand, is why you’re here, standing in my office, and spilling crap like a toddler.” Ezra intertwined his fingers, hardening his gaze. “I warned you didn’t I? Both times.”“Both time?” Ethan inquired, tilting his head in confusion.“It’s bold of you to even think of standing in my presence after uttering such words to my Fiancée. Weren’t you warned?”Ethan gulped, letting out a breathy chuckle. “But Mr. Heinrich, Giselle and I were just having a light chat.” He lied.Ezra rolled his eyes. Same excuse twice in a row.W
~Four Months Later~The blazing hot sun of autumn's last days shone through the window of a bridal room, basking the wooden floor board below in it glorious golden glow. But despite the beautiful day and joyous occasion about to begin, chaos and panic ensued with the four walls of that very room.It was about thirty minutes to the start of the days special occasion, yet the star woman was no where to be seen, and the noirette who had so willingly agreed to be her chiefs bridesmaid was currently in a full on panic.Evelyn had one job. A rather simple one if you asked anyone. And what was it? She had to make sure the bride was dressed, ready, and okay to walk down the isle with her father beside her by the time the hour and minute hand struck eleven."Babe?" In walked Gregory after several knocks on the door only to see the noirette searching far and wide with a panicked look on her face."Hey... hey did you lose something important?" Gregory asked, finally catching his girlfriend in hi
Jogging towards the room Giselle and her father were being held captive in, Ezra could almost feel everything ending. He couldn't already envision his and Giselle's peaceful life after everything was over, and as he turned the finally corner, seeing the room just up head, the brunette stock up a mental note, reminding himself to bring up the topic of adopting Grendel and Jason in the later future. Those two were happy fur balls, who'd be able to take their eyes off them after a single visit. Finally reaching the room, Ezra banged his fist against it and called out. "Giselle? Mr. Cornwell?" His call was answered by two voices from the inside, calming his beating heart as they were the two voices he had anticipated to hear.Stepping back, Ezra kicked the door twice, the metal gate coming down at his third and final kick.Giselle felt like the heavens had sent her very own guardian angel as Ezra walked in, the door laying beneath his feet as he marched in, not wasting a second as he sped
The ground felt cold and hard as Giselle helplessly sat on it. Maybe it was the after effect of Gregory's betrayal that made the concrete below seem more chilly than usual, or it could just be the fact that winter was right around the corner. The brunette didn't know, and she didn't want to know.Bringing her knees up, she buried her face in between them, feeling helpless as usual. The brunette's moment of sulking was cut short when movement from the other end and the sound of muffled breathing caught her attention."Who's there?" She asked, squinting her eyes in the dark room and slightly back up towards the door. Her question was answered by another series of muffled noise, propelling the petit woman to stand up from the floor and slowly advance forward, away from her current position. When Giselle had reached a certain distance, closer to the person which she now realized was tied to a chair and gagged at the mouth, her eyes widened, instantly recognizing the person there."Dad!" T
"Game over Ezra." Archie crackled like a hyena, souring the mood of Ezra, Giselle and Evelyn.Giselle's eyes fluttered in disbelieve, feeling her insides turn as she stared at Gregory, who in return stared back without any form of remorse.'Freaking Traitor.' Giselle thought, only having the courage to pull her gaze off the noirette after several minutes of staring.Gregory was right; never trust anyone until you know what they harbor in their heart. But if only she had applied that method sooner... way sooner than Ethan and Raquel, maybe then, she wouldn't have moved with the worse set of people."Fucking traitors." The brunette spat in a low rumble, gaining the attention of the villainess herself."What was that?" The blonde asked as she stepped forward, leaning in with her ear in a taunting manner.Giselle could have swore there was a voice in her head telling her to leap forward and chew off the spinster's ear."You all are bunch of fucking traitors. Disgusting." She voiced her in
Evelyn hid in a corner as she sent the address to Gregory's number. She was silently regretting not turning off the flash of her camera, as that was what had put her in the situation which she currently was in. It had all happened so fast, all she wanted to do was take a simple picture as evidence, exposing all or one third of Archie's evil plans and misdeed to the authorities, as per the first half of their plans, but then that was when it happened, the moment she took the photo containing their evidence, her flash went off, alerting Archie and her thugs. The noirette didn't waste a second there and took off, hearing the witch herself bark orders, probably to catch her and bring her back, she didn't want to find out.So now, here she was, running and hiding, praying that Gregory would get to her location on time before she became dog food."This is gonna cost more than a bowl of noodles Giselle." The noirette silently whispered to herself as she peaked out from her hiding spot, a ser
"Don't play dumb with me Gregory. Ezra wakes up one morning then suddenly decides to make a run for it? Fine, let me rephrase my question." Giselle stepped in close, raising her head to meet Gregory's gaze. "You know where your sister is holding my father, don't you?"Gregory blinked his eyes, secretly surprised at how quick the brunette had caught up to things.'Was she always this quick.' He questioned himself."Gregory, you know something that I don't, where are they?" Giselle questioned the more, stepping in closer, the questioned male standing his ground and holding her gaze, his blue orbs boring into hers as her green ones searched his."What makes you so confident?" He suddenly questioned, causing Giselle to furrow her brows. "My sister committed a crime for the sake of love, as her relative, shouldn't you fear me?"The brunette tilted her head, lost to as why he was now uttering nonsense."What? No. You're not the type to do such." She uttered, hoping to push down the rising a
The sound of quiet and tired snoring filed the rather silent room. Light dimed to perfection and A.C chilling, Ezra silently watched his fiancée sleep, carefully playing with her hair as not to wake her up.If words could describe the emotions running around in his heart, Ezra would have found it easy to put them into words. With a sigh, the brunette slid under the duvet, embracing the body of his fiancée and earning a hum from her as he buried his face into the crock of her neck."Ezra?" Giselle called out groggily, still overcome by sleep. "You're still up?"Ezra hummed into her neck in disagreement. "It's just..." the brunette paused on his words, rethinking his choice of words before continuing. "...nothing."Giselle hummed in understanding, too tired to form actual words. When Ezra saw that she was falling back asleep, he cradled her more in his arms, pulling her closer and seeking her body's warmth as he spoke. "Don't worry, it'd all be over by tomorrow."Giselle heard those wor
The sound of phone ringing disturbed Evelyn from her peaceful evening sleep. The noirette stirred in the bed, reluctant to answer the phone, seeing as today was one of her rare days off. After the phone rang for an extra few minutes, she groaned and turned around, feeling around the bed for the noise making device."Hello?" She asked after picking up the phone, making no effort to check the caller's ID."Hey, Evelyn, it's me."Her eyes snapped open, brown orbs enlarging as she pulled back and glanced at the caller, series of slurred curses left her mouth as she pushed her body up, resting her back against the bedrest of her bed. "What do you want, Fisher? Never thought you'll go fishing for my number, am I really that stunning."Gregory wasn't sure what made him chuckle, the fact that she'd believe he actually searched for her number, or the fact that she choose to stick with his surname even after he had insisted that she call him on a casual basis.Hearing him chuckle from the other
Giselle spent the next hour or so listening to people question her. At some point in time things started to look like the poor girl was being interrogated. Weren't they meant to be doing other jobs instead of questioning her?"That's enough." She mumbled under her breath, gaze solely trained on the back of her Fiancée as he too seemed to be undergoing the same procedure as her, and from his reactions, she didn't think it was going well."Pardon?" The female officer asked as she took a step forward, halting what she had been writing into her jolt pad.Tearing her gaze away, Giselle coldly answered. "I said that's enough.""But Ms. Heinrich...""She said that's enough." Ezra interrupted the officer as he walked over, finally done with his own part of the questioning, and might i tell you, it didn't go pleasantly. The officer cowered under Ezra's gaze, but nonetheless, she dared to speak. "Mr. Heinrich, forgive me but this is the normal procedures. It has to be carried out accordingly as
