Zac’s POV

“Hannah is hurt” was the first thing that registered in my heart as I looked between Matilda with the gun in her hand, to Hannah knocked unconscious on the bare ground, and then back to Matilda.

“What did you do?” I asked her still in shock to fully understand what just happened. Matilda was aiming to shoot me that I am sure of but I do not understand why Hannah was the one on the floor.

Matilda also seemed too shocked to speak; she looked wide-eyed at Hannah on the ground, covered in a pool of blood. “This girl is stupid” was the only thing she said before making a turn and disappearing into the forest.

I wanted to follow her, I was tempted to run after her, catch her, and kill her but that in turn would cost Hannah’s life which I am not ready to give up on, so I let her run away for now, cause I will get back to her when I made sure Hannah was in a safe condition.
