Chapter 5

In the doctor's office, Ava and Lily took their seats. Before he could speak, Dr. Mark gave Ava a reassuring smile. “You are ready to tell me what's going on, aren't you?”

“Yes.” Ava stuttered.

Ava illustrated everything that had happened the other night, which led her into this situation.

The doctor gestured his sympathy as he listened to Ava's story.

How is it possible for a young girl to go through so much?

That was what they thought the doctor had in mind, at least until he finally broke the silence.

“I can assist you in terminating the pregnancy. He stopped.”But only under one condition. The doctor concluded his statement.

“What's that?” Ava's eyebrows raised.

“You will have sex with me three times if you want me to assist you in having the baby aborted, so you can take your exams." He spoke.

The comments irritated Ava.

How could he say something so repulsive? A doctor should have compassion for his patients, not lust.

Am I now just a sex object?

I will never agree to this demonic proposal? Ava thought to herself.

“That is not possible." Ava said.

“Yes, doctor. Ava can't do it. Is there not an alternative?” Lily asked.

“I apologize, but there is no other way out. If you're unable to do it, then compensate me with a sum of $500, and I'll assist you gladly." He mentioned it while grinning angrily.

“Doctor, I find it hard to believe you're saying all of this. I used to think you were different from the others, but now I can clearly see that all men are the same." Ava pointed out, already on her claws.

“Yes” or “no”? Dr. Mark asked with a raised eyebrow.

“No. I would never jeopardize my life.” Ava answered.

All of this would not be happening if I hadn't left the house.

Ava wiped a tear threatening to roll down her cheeks.

“I will inform the administrators of the school if you don't do this.” Dr. Mark made a threat.

Ava's ears were now irritated by the words. “Do whatever you want." She said not minding what the doctor can do.

"I would never sleep with you. Let's go Lily” Ava walked irately to the door as Lily trailed behind.

How was that possible for a doctor to say?

How can I correct my mistakes?

As Ava walked back to her hostel, she could hear these words ringing in her ears.

Ava was feeling a bit better, so Lily decided to go to school.

She remained back at the hostel for a few days.

She was worried that once she became pregnant, people would start to notice.

Ava's situation worsened when Lily brought the exam schedule back to the hostel one evening.

The tests would be conducted soon, and Ava was powerless to refuse it. She had to attend class.

Lily is the only one who is aware of her pregnancy, so she decides it's best to attend class preparing for the impending exams.

Ava's p was wearing baggy shorts and a large top to disguise any hint of a developing stomach.

She was confident in Lily's ability to keep her pregnancy a secret from others.

But the doctor?

What if the doctor notifies the administrators of the school?

What fate awaited her? Ava pondered.

As she made her way through the college's entrances, she tried to push the weight of her thoughts aside.

Lily had skipped classes because she was suffering from a headache.

She insisted that Ava attended classes, even though Ava preferred to stay at the hostel with her.

“I'll be alright,” These were Lily's words.

The moment Ava stepped into the college hallways; she noticed everyone was staring at her.

Ava felt uncomfortable because some students were whispering close to one another.

The story didn't end there. If she mistakenly touched a few of them, they pushed her away.

They all chuckled as Ava passed by. Ava had grown tired of the murmurings she received from college students.

She hoped Lily was also present.

Ava managed to dodge her way to her classroom, which she considered a safe-space.

Ava's perceptions about her classroom changed when everyone in the class started glancing at her the moment she strode in.

“What is going on here? What makes me feel like I'm being talked about? Or is it my imagination?” Ava thought aloud.

The word was heard by a student passing by, giving Ava the answers she desperately needed.

“This isn't an imagination. You are pregnant, you are pregnant!” The student uttered.

Ava's heart beat louder than a drum set.

Wait….

What did he just say?

How did he know?

Who told him?

“Look who is here, the one-night stand chick who acts like she's innocent.” A student mentioned.

As everyone in the classroom giggled, one of the ladies yelled out. “Who would have thought? She is now pregnant.”

“What a total disaster!” Someone else spoke up. This was getting out of control.

Ava couldn't make sense of what was going on in front of her.

“She acts innocent, but she's a silent prostitute underneath.” One of the male students grunted something.

Ava's hands were twitching. Tears threatened to flow down her face.

It's no surprise why the students in the entrance hall all had disgusting looks plastered on their faces.

When Ava walked further to her seats, one of the bullies from the college kept asking, “Can I have my share since you sleep around with strangers?” He laughed mischievously as he said this.

That's impossible.

How is it that everyone knew about this?

The doctor was the only person who was aware of this.

Because Lily would never reveal my secret to anyone, perhaps Doctor Mark already reported me to the school administrators.

“No wonder her closest friend couldn't keep up with her, a female voice said, interrupting Ava's train of thought.

“She needed to get away from a slut like Ava”. She completed the statement.

“I'm not a slut," Ava fired back.

Available moves toward the female student. “And don't you ever criticize my best friend”. Ava fought back.

They all burst into laughter at once.

“Silly girl. She is unaware that her best friend told us everything”. said one of the students.

It was becoming excessive.

Ava experienced a spike in her blood pressure. It was best for her to leave because otherwise, she might do something deplorable.

It appeared as though the whole world was watching her as she passed through the exit hallways.
